Chapter Sixty-Nine: The Black Hand Gang

Behind Lu Gang, members of the Black Hand gang disembarked one by one. Among them were Mo Wujiang, a life cultivator who looked quite familiar to Chen Jing, Huang Yuanlong, a battle cultivator carrying two swords, and others whose names he did not yet know. There was a red-haired woman in an elegant dress, a woman with black hair and black eyes and clear features, and someone who was difficult to recognize while wearing knight armor.

Upon seeing the "priest" clad in knight's armor, although Chen Jing outwardly maintained his composure and revealed no flaws,

Chen Jing was still a little nervous. He had run past this person before and openly "sneaked in".

They all wore the same Black Hand token around their waists, and there were five of them in total, standing next to Black Hand Lu Gang.

Behind these people followed several others. Chen Jing recognized several familiar faces, including a man in his thirties with a square face, wearing a black hat, a somber black trench coat, and carrying a holster. This man had previously appeared at the port with the "Priest" to escort the female assassin. Another example was Mo Wuge, the commander of the reconnaissance team.

There were five people standing next to Lu Gang, the Black Hand, and fourteen people standing behind this group.

Chen Jing knew that the hierarchy of the Black Hand gang was very simple: core members, ordinary members, and peripheral members.

It is said that this hierarchical system originated from the division of mercenary groups outside the country, and it was also a necessity for the exploration of the ancient Song Dynasty.

The core members are said to be all cultivators, the ordinary members are mostly people with extraordinary abilities, some are cultivators or people with special talents, and the peripheral members include the Black Hand's guards, or even the city's guards.

The Black Hand gang often organizes expeditions deep into the fog, which is extremely dangerous. Bringing too many peripheral members with no skills would hinder the march, firstly because it would expose their position, and secondly because a large number of people would place high demands on logistics and supplies. When conducting expeditions, the Black Hand gang only brings a portion of its core members and ordinary members.

When they entered Meijing City, the Black Hand Gang also mobilized some of their peripheral members because Meijing City was the closest ruins settlement to Ash City, making the round trip shorter and the journey safer.

"Let's begin with introductions. I'll start. My name is Lu Gang. People here call me Black Hand, haha. Actually, those who know me know that Black Hand just means I like to wear black gloves." Black Hand Lu Gang joked, looking nothing like the rumors suggested. "I think everyone knows me, so I won't say much. Now, let's have the newcomers introduce themselves."

The newlyweds exchanged glances, and Chen Jingxian stepped forward to introduce them.

"I am Chen Jing, a monster lure, skilled in reconnaissance, hiding, and running."

Chen Jing chose to introduce himself first because he felt that pretending to be eager to stand out and leave an impression would be more discreet.

Although this conflicted with Chen Jing's previous impression that he did not want to be a trial commander, after thinking about it, Chen Jing felt that it was reasonable.

Having already obtained the Body Refinement Pill from Mo Wujiang and become a person of extraordinary abilities, it's natural for him to become somewhat arrogant, which is in line with the character of a young man.

"Daonan, a warrior of the Hunter's Guild, is skilled in combat," Daonan followed up with his self-introduction.

"It's a pity that the Battle Cultivation Pills are very popular, and there are none left." Black Hand Lu Gang said gently, "I heard that you reserved this opportunity. No problem, when the team finds Battle Cultivation Pills later, we will give you priority."

"Thank you, Lord Blackhand." Daonan said happily.

The third person to introduce herself was Zhang Taoying. Chen Jing saw her awkwardly raise her right hand, trying her best to put on a friendly smile, as if trying to win some unknown favor with that smile.

She stammered for a long time, until a blush rose on her cheeks, before finally managing to squeeze out a sentence under the encouraging gaze of Lu Gang, the Black Hand:

"My name is Zhang Taoying. I can dispel some weak evil spirits and also know some auxiliary magic..."

She became increasingly uncomfortable as she spoke, her voice growing softer and softer. Most people remained silent, leaving her pale right hand frozen in mid-air, unsure of what to do.

“He Lili,” said the elegantly dressed girl, “is skilled in divination and prediction.”

Divination? Chen Jing looked at He Lili with some surprise.

This was the first time Chen Jing had ever heard of someone who was skilled in divination.

"I wonder what her spiritual energy is..." Chen Jing pondered, while others began to introduce themselves.

"I am Li Aidan, strong and fast," the robust Li Aidan said casually.

"Simple and straightforward enough..." Chen Jing thought to himself.

Another girl with short black hair and a slender figure, who reminded Chen Jing of his younger sister, introduced herself in a very soft voice: "My name is Jasmine..."

She seemed somewhat afraid of the scene, and subconsciously moved her feet toward Zhang Taoying, who was most like her, as if she felt that this would give her a sense of security.

Then, Jasmine realized that no one was paying attention to her, so she shrank her neck and tried her best to hide her presence.

Zhang Taoying forced a smile, even managing to create a rare dimple, which looked somewhat stiff for a moment. She smiled kindly at Jasmine and said, "Hello..."

Chen Jing looked at this scene and felt a little confused.

He felt that these extraordinary individuals were not very skilled, and their personalities did not seem to be suitable for many things. He wondered why the Black Hand did not simply select more people from the trial participants, since there were pills available that could cultivate an extraordinary individual.

After the newcomers were introduced, the five people around Black Hand Lu Gang also began to introduce themselves, as if it had become a tradition.

A woman with coarse, light red, shoulder-length hair, dressed in a traditional Chinese dress, spoke first, smiling as she introduced herself: "My name is Li... cough, I am Luo You."

Luo You… Chen Jing watched silently. Through the knowledge granted by the source of darkness, Chen Jing already knew that Luo You was a high-level cultivator of Dao Qi, possessing the ability to change her appearance. Her current appearance was definitely not her true appearance.
