Chapter Forty-Eight: The Doll (shuhaige.net)

The fishtail suction cup doll moved slowly. Although it was not as unsolvable as "noise invisibility," its chameleon-like stealth was not much different from complete invisibility when moving slowly.

It was being manipulated by someone to move toward the designated cabin.

The sailors were still whispering about the mysterious man who attacked the ship and the blood sacrifice announced by those who escaped, and none of them paid any attention to it.

Suddenly, it stopped moving.

In the boat area market.

Pan Fengyu sat in front of the fortune-telling stall and saw the character "景" given by the fortune teller. He felt a chill run down his spine, as if he had stepped into a terrible trap and that a large number of ambushes would soon emerge from both sides of the road.

His fingers were already subtly manipulating hidden weapons, preparing to use smoke bombs, talismans, and various props.

However, the fortune teller and the surrounding environment did not change, which made Pan Fengyu hesitate to act immediately, fearing that an overreaction might cause a misunderstanding and create some trouble.

After pondering for a moment, Pan Fengyu feigned confusion and said:

What is the meaning of the character '景'?

The young fortune teller in the blue robe smiled and said, "It costs money."

Pan Fengyu's feigned confusion froze instantly.

He had initially thought the other person was some kind of expert, but it turned out to be just someone putting on airs!

Pan Fengyu did not think the other party was a fraud. In fact, many fortune tellers are like this, letting the people who come for fortune telling fill in the blanks with their own imaginations, think that the other party knows everything, and worship them as gods.

He was just a little embarrassed; it was a good thing he was so cautious, he almost used his full cultivation to escape.

Without showing any emotion, he continued to focus his attention on manipulating the other puppet, casually asking, "How much?"

The fish-tail suction cup doll continued its actions.

It leaped into the cabin, landing silently and moving without a trace.

Following the path information obtained from one of the escaped sacrifices, it proceeded methodically.

Strangely, the corridors here are dark and unguarded.

The pitch blackness did not affect the fishtail suction cup doll. When Pan Fengyu made it, he specially installed a "cat's eye" dark vision system. When the cat's eye was turned on, the dark passageway became a relatively bright black and white area.

The puppet and Pan Fengyu shared the same senses, and after a brief pause, they moved on.

In the black and white vision, Pan Fengyu saw, with the help of the doll's "cat's eye," patches of blood and severed limbs lying on the ground.

A battle broke out there? This is different from what I heard in the intelligence...

Pan Fengyu pondered, looking at the fortune teller in the blue robe in front of him.

The young fortune teller said, "People are foolish. The secrets of heaven are right before their eyes, yet they never recognize them. That is why revealing the secrets of heaven is free, but interpreting them is charged."

Pan Fengyu nodded: "Then, young friend, how much will you charge for the interpretation?"

"Song Jin Thirteen," the fortune teller said mysteriously.

You're trying to extort me!

The speaker was not Pan Fengyu, but the servant next to him.

Pan Fengyu gestured for him to be quiet and looked at the fortune teller: "Young friend, could you give me a discount?"

For him, this was not a big deal; he just wanted to wait long enough.

The fortune teller shook his head. Pan Fengyu reached into his pocket, took out a small bag, and placed thirteen gold coins on the fortune-telling stall.

"The sun shines brightly in Beijing, and hope for the future lies in Meizhou," the fortune teller said.

Now, Pan Fengyu was even more certain of his opinion.

Meijing City is the most frequently visited ruined city in Ash City! Even now, many secrets within it remain undiscovered and unexplored. Therefore, this statement can be interpreted in many ways.

Pan Fengyu asked, "Is there anything else?"

At this moment, he was mostly focused on controlling the puppet, making it move around in the cabin.

In the gray-white field of vision, the invisible doll turned the corner and suddenly stopped.

It saw patches of flesh and blood covering the floor, walls, and ceiling. The flesh and blood formed a thick layer, and bloodshot eyes grew out of the flesh and blood walls, floors, and ceilings.

All those eyes turned to the fishtail suction cup doll, which was clearly invisible, as if they were staring at Pan Fengyu across space.

Pan Fengyu broke out in a cold sweat, while the fortune teller continued speaking:

“For the people of the former Song Dynasty, light was the most scarce resource, and it is only natural to want to see sunlight,” the fortune teller said. “But shadows are like objects, and once a shadow sees sunlight, it will disappear completely, so it is best to be careful.”

Pan Fengyu's forehead was covered in a fine sweat. He was manipulating the puppet and had no energy left to reply.

Of course, he was still observing the outside world. If he encountered any danger, Pan Fengyu would definitely abandon the puppet and start running away immediately.

A sharp blade extends from the arm of the fish-tailed suction cup doll, while the other suction cup hand rotates and falls down, revealing a dark gun barrel.

Bang bang bang!

Tentacles formed from the flesh and blood wall slammed towards the puppet, only to be shattered by the puppet's gunfire.

A loud gunshot rang out, and the puppet turned and retreated. With the puppet's combat power, and assuming that Black Hand and the others had all left, Pan Fengyu was confident that he could fight his way out and escape into the river!

But the puppet didn't go very far, and Pan Fengyu felt that his control over the puppet was becoming increasingly sluggish and difficult.

In the end, Pan Fengyu realized that he was no longer able to control the puppet's actions, and the puppet finally stopped moving no matter how Pan Fengyu gave it commands.

He then remembered that the doll had stepped on some flesh and blood before it entered the area.

Pan Fengyu quickly severed the connection with the puppet, glanced at the fortune teller in front of him, and said to his servant in a deep voice, "Let's go."
