Chapter 24 A slightly hoarse voice whispered, "Say..."
Ning Yao's suspicions were not based on anything; it was just her intuition.
Unfortunately, this intuition is not something that can be shared with outsiders.
After sighing, Bu Shuli began to discuss the debate competition with Ning Yao.
She was quite surprised to find that Ning Yao already possessed far more information than she had ever known.
"Your brother Ning is really amazing," Bu Shuli exclaimed.
Ning Yao nodded with pride, "Brother Ning is really amazing. He only explained it to me once, and I understood the debate very clearly after that."
Using those few pages of paper, she carefully explained the content of the debate to Bu Shuli.
Bu Shuli nodded repeatedly.
He even pulled out his pen and paper and started taking notes like crazy.
The main participants in this debate were her and Ning Yao. The other two team members were boys, and Bu Shuli couldn't bring them along.
We'll introduce them to each other after Ning Yao goes back to class.
As for Wan Hongye and Lou Yu, they came together to see Ning Yao after hearing that Bu Shuli was coming.
Lou Yu, standing to the side, looked at Ning Yao's book review with amazement, quite surprised, "So this is how books can be read..."
The book Ning Yao read today is an introduction to some current Western culture; it's a general overview book.
Therefore, Ning Yao's book review is a synthesis of the book's introduction, categorizing and organizing the books she is going to read next, rather than simply writing down her personal feelings.
After reading the book review, Lou Yu's first thought was that if she studied according to the book list and reading order written in the review, she would definitely achieve twice the result with half the effort.
"What? Let me see." Wan Hongye sidled over and read Ning Yao's reading notes together.
Wan Hongye read it very quickly, skimming through it in ten lines. She turned to Ning Yao in surprise and asked, "Do you always write book reports like this, or is it just because of this debate?"
Ning Yao noticed their strange expressions and asked, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
Under Ning Yiwen's guidance, she never focused on recording what the book said, but rather on what she learned from it.
The reading notes were passed around among several people before finally reaching Bu Shuli.
Bu Shuli couldn't take her eyes off it after just one glance.
She's been a bookworm for so many years, and has read countless books. But after reading Ning Yao's book review, she still felt inspired.
She asked Ning Yao, "Did your brother Ning teach you to write it like this?"
Ning Yao nodded.
Ning Yiwen is really amazing.
The same phrase echoed in their minds at the same time.
Consequently, their gazes toward Ning Yao also held a touch of respect.
After all, like brother, like sister.
By the time Bu Shuli and the others left, it was completely dark.
It's time for Ning Yao to change her medication.
Ning Yiwen helped Ning Yao slowly move back to her room from the courtyard.
Ning Yao sat on the bed, knees bent, smiling ingratiatingly as she discussed things with Ning Yiwen.
"Or, Brother Ning, you can give me the medicine, and I'll take it myself."
In the afternoon, Ning Yiwen invited a doctor to examine Ning Yao's foot.
The doctor left a bottle of medicinal wine, saying that applying and massaging it onto the swollen area every night would help reduce the swelling faster.
I also gave them a simple demonstration of massage techniques.
Ning Yao also saw it, and when she saw it, she felt a chill run down her spine.
You have to rub and massage the red and swollen areas on your feet hard... that must hurt so much.
Ning Yiwen saw through her little scheme at a glance.
He shook his head. "I'll do it."
If she were to do it herself, she would probably only do a superficial treatment because she's afraid of the pain.
But the doctor said that to reduce the swelling, I had to exert some force.
Ning Yao's legs trembled slightly. She hesitated, wanting to say a few more words: "But..."
Ning Yiwen had already turned around, pulled over a chair, sat down on the edge of the bed, and said seriously, "Stick your feet out."
Ning Yao pouted and stretched out her injured foot, which landed right on his thigh.
Ning Yiwen unwrapped the cloth layer by layer.
Her swollen, red toes were exposed.
Ning Yiwen's eyes darkened slightly as he poured a little medicinal wine into his palm and rubbed it to warm it.
He raised his hand and grasped her snow-white ankle.
The moment the large hand grasped hers, Ning Yao shuddered.
His hands were very hot, and he was gripping them tightly.
She had a premonition that the upcoming massage might produce some unpleasant pain.
"Brother Ning, be gentle."
Ning Yiwen had no time to look at Ning Yao's expression at this moment; his entire focus was on suppressing his chaotic thoughts.
It rivals frost and snow in its beauty, clear and pure, delicate and smooth, flawless like white jade...
Uncontrollable thoughts kept popping up like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.
He closed his eyes, wanting to slap himself.
Ning Yiwen remained silent for a long time, as if he had entered a meditative state.
Ning Yao looked at him curiously and called out, "Brother Ning?"
Ning Yiwen slowly began, like a rusty machine that had been oiled by this sentence and started to move with a "click-clack" sound.
With his five fingers together, he circled around Ning Yao's toes and, using the lubrication of the medicinal wine, pressed gently on the red and swollen area.
He was gradually increasing the force.
Ning Yao lowered her brows, her eyes fixed on his hand.
"Ouch...it hurts, it hurts...be gentle..."
Ning Yao exclaimed softly.
Ning Yiwen ignored him and continued to increase the intensity of his movements.
Even though her heart had melted into a puddle of water, her words were cold and indifferent.
"Bear with it."
Ning Yao has a flat mouth.
"It really hurts!"
Her voice was melodious and soft.
Ning Yiwen's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and he said in a low, hoarse voice, "Being cute won't work!"
After saying that, he didn't say anything more.
However, he didn't reduce the force in his hands at all.
Ning Yao's eyes reddened.
Tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to fall but not touching the ground.
Soon, something amazing happened.
As Ning Yiwen massaged, a warm current slowly gushed out from the spot he was pressing.
My foot doesn't seem to hurt as much anymore.
Ning Yao was both surprised and delighted. "Brother Ning, it seems to really work."
After a long pause, he sighed, "So comfortable..."
Ning Yiwen: "..."
He lifted his droopy eyelids, glanced at her, and said, "Don't speak."
Ning Yao immediately raised her hand to cover her mouth, leaving only her big, bright eyes blinking as she looked at him.
Ning Yiwen suddenly felt a headache coming on.
*
Nothing was said that night.
The next day, Ning Yao woke up from a nap and was surprised to find that the swelling in her feet had gone down considerably.
Out of curiosity, I touched it, and it didn't hurt as much anymore.
She wanted to try getting out of bed and walking around.
Ning Yiwen happened to come in at that moment and saw her sitting on the edge of the bed with her feet on the ground, looking like she was about to fall to the ground.
"Ning Yao!" Ning Yiwen called out softly.
Ning Yao swiftly pulled her feet back onto the bed and even covered herself with the blanket.
Then, she smiled sweetly and said, "Good morning, Brother Ning."
Ning Yiwen placed the food he was carrying on the table. "What, being disobedient again, trying to sneak out of bed?"
Ning Yao waved her hand, "No, no. But, Brother Ning, my foot really doesn't hurt today, it's just a little red, I think it should be healed soon."
"That's good," Ning Yiwen placed a basin of water on the chair next to her bed. "Wash up, then eat."
Ning Yao observed that Ning Yiwen's actions were even more considerate than yesterday.
He scratched the back of his head with some frustration, because his already messy hair had become even messier since he was a restless sleeper.
"Brother Ning, I think I can go over and wash up," she suggested cautiously.
She only injured her toe, but Ning Ge's series of actions made her mistakenly believe that her foot was broken.
Ning Yiwen did not agree, but simply pushed the chair forward a little more.
He silently rejected her through his actions.
Ning Yao: "..."
All right.
He needs to recover from his injury.
She comforted herself.
With Ning Yiwen's "service", she washed up and ate.
Then he picked her up and carried her to the study.
While performing this series of actions, Ning Yiwen didn't speak, and neither did Ning Yao.
She just watched him silently.
The second time she was lifted up, she instinctively wrapped her arms around Ning Yiwen's neck.
Today, Ning Yiwen broke away from her usual gray, blue, and black attire and wore a crescent-colored long robe for the first time ever.
Her eyebrows and eyes were like a painting, and her white clothes were as white as snow.
He was truly a refined and elegant gentleman.
But for some reason, Ning Yao inexplicably wanted to get a little further away, just a little bit.
After all, Ning Ge's "service" has become increasingly meticulous these past two days.
If she continues to be pampered like this, she might become a spoiled young lady who has everything done for her.
That's impossible!
Doesn't this completely contradict her idea of self-reliance and self-improvement?
Thinking of this, she sighed deeply in her heart.
It is easy to go from frugality to extravagance, but difficult to go from extravagance to frugality.
"What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
Ning Yao snapped out of her reverie, raised the corners of her mouth, and said with a smile, "No, I was just thinking about what book I want to read later."
She subconsciously hid her thoughts.
Then, Ning Yao tugged at Ning Yiwen's sleeve and asked, "Brother Ning, when will my foot get better?"
Ning Yiwen said, "The doctor said that if the massage is done properly, the swelling will completely subside in three to five days."
Ning Yao counted silently in her mind, and there were at most two days left.
Two days.
This useless little life has two more days.
She didn't know whether she should cry or laugh.
"All right."
In the blink of an eye, they arrived at the study.
Ning Yao sat down in the chair and waved her hand, "Brother Ning, you go ahead with your own things. I'll focus on my reading and write my book report."
After saying that, he picked up another book on Western culture that he hadn't yet read on his desk and began to read it diligently.
Ning Yiwen found it inexplicably funny to see her using and discarding things so casually.
A slight smile played on her lips. "Then you should study hard."
He still had his own things to attend to.
Ning Yao obediently studied in the study, within his sight, which gave him great pleasure.
As for the rest, let's talk about it in a few days, after she has recovered.
Ning Yiwen lifted the curtain and left the study.
Ning Yao's eyes were just beginning to move from the book when she looked at the study curtain that was still trembling slightly.
We're finally out.
She felt relieved.
She leaned back, pressing her entire back against the back of the wooden chair.
I looked up and the book was right on my face.
Ugh, so annoying.
She sighed.
