Chapter 10 Secretly reflecting on oneself, is it new...?

Chapter 10 Secretly reflecting on oneself, is it new...?

"Ning Yao, come and take a look!"

The boy sitting at the desk in front of Huo Li had just finished class and gathered his friends.

Along with that, he also called out to Ning Yao.

"Come on, let's see which one will win this time!"

The boy's name was Jian Zi'an, and the person sitting at the same table as him was Qin Nian.

The two of them were notorious troublemakers in class.

While speaking, Jian Zi'an secretly glanced at Huo Li in the back seat.

Huo Li was known for his fun-loving ways, a fact that was well-known throughout their cricket-fighting circle.

Unfortunately, when they greeted Huo Li yesterday, they were met with a cold stare.

I don't dare call him today.

Ning Yao, who joined the class with Huo Li, looked unfamiliar, but after listening to her "profound insights" yesterday, although I didn't quite understand them, she seemed to know a lot about games.

Ning Yao walked over curiously.

At this moment, there is a smooth-surfaced basin on the table, which is a fighting basin used for cricket fighting.

At this moment, the two crickets in the trough are separated by a piece of cardboard.

"Want to guess who will win or lose?" Ning Yao asked.

Ning Yao carefully examined the two crickets in the basin. They were about the same size, but the cricket on the left had straighter and longer antennae, and looked much more energetic than the one on the right.

“I think we can only win.” Ning Yao pointed to the cricket on the left.

Surprisingly, there aren't many people like her.

Seven or eight people were gathered around, but only three of them, including her, pointed to the cricket on the left.

Jian Zi'an raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure you want to choose the left one?"

Qin Nian, who was standing next to her, kindly introduced the cricket to her: "The cricket on the right is called General. It's a perennial champion in the cricket fighting arena. The one on the left was just caught a few days ago. It's only been used once and it lost."

Ning Yao: "..." So he's a veteran after all.

"Shall we change?" Jian Zi'an asked her.

Ning Yao hesitated for a moment, then decided to stick to her original choice.

He shook his head. "No."

Jian Zian shrugged. "Whatever."

It was just something to do during recess.

But in his heart, he couldn't help but feel that Ning Yao was indeed a girl.

The kind of person with long hair but short wits.

Reaching out, I pulled the cardboard from the cricket bowl and carefully used the pointed end to touch the two crickets.

Once, twice.

Soon, the two crickets started fighting.

The onlookers' eyes also began to burn with excitement.

"come on!"

"General, charge!"

Even the students who weren't participating stopped what they were doing to watch out for the final result.

Huo Li took a moment to get up, glanced at the screen, and combined it with their previous conversation.

He instantly knew which one Ning Yao had chosen.

"Hey, what's going on..."

"The general seems to have lost his strength..."

"General, you're not going to lose, are you?!"

With several incredulous exclamations, the cricket Ning Yao had chosen defeated the seemingly invincible general they had been talking about.

Jian Zi'an: "..."

Qin Nian: "..."

We won.

Ning Yao curled her lips into a smile, then immediately pulled her hand back, striking a pose of confidence.

"I told you, this one on the left would win."

Jian Zi'an turned to look at her in disbelief: "How did you figure that out?"

Compared to the other two people he randomly selected, Ning Yao was quite a surprise to him.

After all, he had given Ning Yao a chance to choose again before the competition.

She just picked it randomly, based on first impressions.

But Ning Yao wouldn't tell the truth.

She sighed and said, "Ah, it's all about experience. The more you see, the more you'll understand."

After saying that, he slowly walked back to his seat, saying, "Class is about to start."

Jian Zi'an was impressed and began to sigh with admiration, just like Qin Nian.

Sitting and listening to the whole thing, I could just see Huo Li behind Ning Yao, his left and right hands clenching his fingers together.

He smiled silently.

Ah, experience.

After finally getting through the school day, Jian Zian and Qin Nian quickly went to Ning Yao's desk.

Jian Zi'an: "Ning Yao, do you play this game often too?"

Ning Yao nodded and began tidying up the textbooks on the table. Her brother Ning would be coming to pick her up soon.

Qin Nian: "Then do you also have some really good crickets?"

Ning Yao paused for a moment, but she didn't.

But she has one in her yard.

After autumn arrives, crickets chirp merrily in the grass along the edge of the yard.

The low, drawn-out "ququ" sound continued, and it was quite noisy.

“No, but I can get one.” Ning Yao looked up.

Jian Zian was delighted, "Okay!"

At the same time, Ning Yiwen's voice came from outside the classroom, "Ning Yao."

Ning Yao quickly stood up and said, "I'll bring it another day."

The person had already rushed out of the classroom.

"Brother Ning," Ning Yao called out sweetly.

Ning Yiwen glanced at her, smiling broadly, her long braid swinging happily behind her.

She recalled the scene she had just seen through the window, where she was surrounded by two boys in the classroom.

"Have you made any new friends?"

Ning Yao nodded repeatedly, "They are all well."

Ning Yiwen nodded. "That's good."

He might have worried if one boy was circling around her, but with two, Ning Yiwen felt relieved.

They're probably just ordinary playmates.

Back home, I ate and studied as usual.

Perhaps because there were other programs scheduled for the evening, Ning Yao's smile barely faded as she completed the new study plan assigned by Ning Yiwen.

Ning Yiwen felt very relieved upon seeing this.

There's a sense of relief, like when your child finally learns to study hard.

That night.

In the dead of night, a dark figure emerged from the room, bending over.

Ning Yao didn't dare to light any lamps; she only carried a small cloth bag.

The moon is very round tonight. Under the moonlight, the grass by the wall sways in the wind, and a rustling sound is mixed with the chirping of crickets.

Under the bright moonlight, every blade of grass and tree was clearly visible.

Ning Yao lay down and began to rummage through the weeds, trying to find the crickets hidden in them.

*

A few days later, Ning Yao was yawning when Ning Yiwen pulled her off the bed.

Looking at her tired appearance, yawning incessantly, Ning Yiwen frowned.

"Why have you been getting more and more sleepy these past few days?"

Ning Yao wiped her eyes and sniffed. "I don't know either. I'm just sleepy."

She was too embarrassed to admit that she had been secretly getting up every night to catch crickets for the past few days.

But none of them yielded any results.

I can clearly hear the sound.

Ning Yiwen naturally didn't expect Ning Yao to get up in the middle of the night. He just started to secretly examine himself, wondering if the new study plan was too much.

After dropping Ning Yao off at her class, Ning Yiwen thought for a moment, then turned and went to Ms. Lin's room, where Ning Yao's class was located.

"Teacher Lin, are you there?" Ning Yiwen called out from the doorway.

He remembered that Teacher Lin didn't have any classes this morning.

Teacher Lin pushed open the dormitory door and saw Ning Yiwen. She said with a smile, "Yiwen, it's you. Come in and sit down."

Ning Yiwen obediently walked into the dormitory, saying, "Excuse me, Teacher Lin."

Teacher Lin nodded. "Did you come to ask about Ning Yao's situation?"

He's used to it. Many parents, shortly after dropping their children off at his school, will find an opportunity to visit him and ask about their children's studies.

He just didn't expect that Ning Yiwen, despite not being a strict parent, was actually quite worried.

Ning Yiwen: "Yes, I've noticed she's been looking down lately. I wonder how Ning Yao is doing in class?"

Teacher Lin thought for a moment and said slowly, "It's alright. You can answer all the questions in class, and your homework is always neat and tidy."

"Although my focus during class is indeed less than at the beginning, it should be fine."

As a teacher, it's difficult for him to manage all the students comprehensively.

Therefore, as long as the students' learning progress meets the requirements, he sometimes doesn't manage them too strictly.

But Ning Yiwen frowned slightly, unaware that he had been giving Ning Yao a lot of extra help outside of class.

"Did she talk during class? And who did she play with most after class?"

Teacher Lin pondered for a moment, then said, "He wasn't very attentive in class, but he didn't talk much. As for after class..."

At this point, Teacher Lin reminded Ning Yiwen, "This is something we should definitely pay attention to."

As he spoke, he recounted several times the scenes he had witnessed Ning Yao and Jian Zi'an playing around together.

"Jian Zian is the most playful and mischievous person in the class, and his academic performance is just average. Of course, Ning Yao is like you, so her grades probably won't drop, but she should still do her fun in moderation."

Jian Zi'an.

Ning Yiwen silently pondered the name, but it didn't ring a bell.

"Thank you for the suggestion, Professor Lin." Ning Yiwen didn't have anything else she wanted to know.

He then got up to take his leave.

When I got back to my classroom, class had already been going on for quite some time.

Many people come to see him on weekdays, and he occasionally has to be late or leave early. All the teachers who teach him recognize him, so they just pretend not to see him.

Ning Yiwen sat in his seat and thought for a long time.

I feel like there's something I've overlooked.

After thinking for a moment, I simply stood up, bowed apologetically to the teacher in class, and then left the classroom.

It was almost break time, and he planned to go check on Ning Yao's classroom.

The teacher left on the stage was secretly reflecting: Was his lesson today too boring?

When Ning Yiwen arrived at Ning Yao's classroom, it was right after class.

He stood upright beside a cluster of flowers, looking into the classroom through the window.

In the classroom, as soon as get out of class ended, Ning Yao moved to the other desk, where Huo Li was sitting at the desk behind her.

Ning Yiwen also recognized the people talking to Ning Yao. They were the two boys who had surrounded Ning Yao's desk after class that day, and a few others he didn't recognize.

The classroom was noisy, but the voices of the people next to Ning Yao were loud enough for Ning Yiwen to vaguely hear some of their conversations.

"Go! Quickly!"

"come on!"

"..."

It sounds like they're having a cricket fight?

Ning Yiwen pondered to himself.

His position allowed him to perfectly observe Ning Yao's expression.

She looked tired, with dark circles under her eyes, but her eyes were bright.

Her voice wasn't loud, so it was hard to hear clearly, but you could tell she was very happy.

She was laughing and joking, her wide smile showing how much she enjoyed this activity.

Still has the mind of a child. Ning Yiwen sighed inwardly.

But that's fine too, at least Ning Yao is happy in class.

As for the others, such as Ning Yao's deskmate.

Hearing Ning Yao shouting and yelling on the other side, he curled his lips and looked disgusted.

Ning Yiwen did not see it.

He simply turned and left the noisy courtyard, returning to his classroom.

Ning Yiwen never expected that all her obedience and self-reflection would be completely shattered during an unintentional nighttime urination.
