She called him several more times after that, but Yu Kui hung up on her each time.

She stood on the autumn campus, a cool breeze blowing in her face, causing her to instinctively close her eyes.

"Yu Kui," her roommate Shu Jia waved to her from afar, "What are you doing? Are you possessed?"

Yu Kui snapped out of her daze and smiled at her, "Want to go out for dinner?"

"To pick up the package," Shu Jia said, stepping forward. "You're standing there blankly, thinking about something?"

“Okay,” Yu Kui replied casually, “You go first, I’m going back.”

“Later,” Shu Jia said, taking her hand, “I’ll treat you to milk tea.”

Yu Kui was taken aback for a moment, and Shu Jia said, "You explained a lot of questions to me before, and I want to thank you."

Yu Kui: "No need to be so polite."

"It's not just being polite," Shu Jia said with a smile, "it's just courtesy, otherwise I'd feel embarrassed to ask you questions again."

"Then buy me a cup of fruit tea," Yu Kui said, "grape flavor."

"Okay, sit in the chair and wait for me. I'll come back to you in ten minutes."

“I’ll go with you,” Yu Kui said, “to help you pick up some packages.”

"Hehe," Shu Jia touched the tip of her nose, "Well, it seems I have quite a lot of packages this time."

Shu Jia loves online shopping and brings back many packages every week. The girls in the dormitory are used to it, and Yu Kui is naturally aware of it as well.

The two bought fruit tea and picked up their packages, then slowly made their way back to their dorm room.

"By the way, Yu Kui, would you like to join our college's debate team? I heard you can even participate in competitions later on."

Yu Kui had heard of the debate team, not only in their college but also in the school, but she hadn't joined. Her schedule was very regular, and she hadn't decided yet if she joined the debate team because it would mean staying up late.

I didn't expect Shu Jia to ask her that.

"Do you want to join the debate team?" Yu Kui asked.

“I really want to go,” Shu Jia said. “I’ve heard it’s very interesting and can help us develop our thinking skills.”

“Then go,” Yu Kui encouraged, “If you’re determined, you can sign up.”

“But it’s very tiring,” Shu Jia hesitated. “I heard that it takes a lot of time to prepare every day, and I’m afraid I can’t handle it.”

“I can give it a try first,” Yu Kui also plans to join the debate team in the future. Her major requires critical thinking, and debate can improve her language organization and expression skills, as well as allow her to see issues more comprehensively.

"Let me think about it some more."

Back in the dorm, Zhang Jing and Xu Siyue were playing games together.

"You're back?" The two raised their hands in greeting. "Where have you been these past few days?" "Just wandering around the neighborhood," Yu Kui replied.

“My mom criticizes me every day since I got home,” Shu Jia complained. “Even when I sleep in, she nags me. It’s so annoying.”

“Same world, same parents,” Xu Siyue was amused by her. “When you first go back, they’re a darling, but in a couple of days they’re a brat who needs to be disciplined.”

Yu Kui: "..."

"Are you free tonight?" Zhang Jing said, "I recently started dating someone, so I'm planning to invite the three of you out for dinner."

"Sure!" Shu Jia loved this part the most and immediately sat down next to her. "That math major guy?"

“Yes,” Zhang Jing said with a smile, “His name is Zhou Chu. I’ll introduce you to him later.”

"OK."

For the evening dinner, Zhang Jing dressed up carefully, looking much more refined than usual.

The four of them arrived at the barbecue restaurant they had arranged to meet. The boy named Zhou Chu was already waiting in the private room. When he saw them come in, he greeted them warmly, "Hello, are you Jingjing's roommates? It's nice to meet you."

Yu Kui thought he looked familiar, but couldn't place where she had seen him before.

After getting to know each other, Zhou Chu ordered a large table of dishes, saying, "Everyone, please eat whatever you like today, don't be shy with me."

He was very considerate to Zhang Jing and spoke very reliably, which made him very likable.

"You've found the perfect boyfriend!" Xu Siyue immediately recognized the designer clothes and shoes the boy was wearing, nudged Zhang Jing with her elbow, and said, "He's a rich second-generation."

Zhang Jing remained unfazed. Coming from a well-off family, she could naturally tell Zhou Chu's financial situation; otherwise, she wouldn't have accepted his confession.

"Zhou Chu, you're so considerate. Do you have any older or younger brothers? Introduce them to me!" Shu Jia couldn't help but say, "I also want to find a partner."

“There really is,” Zhou Chu said with a laugh. “I also have a twin brother who is currently single. If you’re interested, I can ask him.”

“Great! Great!” Shu Jia immediately replied, “I’d love to!”

Yu Kui was amused by her and sat down to drink orange juice.

What's your brother's name? Where does he go to school?

“Zhou Xiao,” Zhou Chu said with a smile, “is studying in another city.”

The moment Yu Kui heard the name, she realized how small the world was. Even though she had traveled so far, she could still encounter people related to the characters in the book.

"Does he look exactly like you?" Shu Jia asked, intrigued.

“Not exactly similar,” Zhou Chu said, “He’s even a bit more handsome than me.”

"Wow!" Shu Jia couldn't wait to add Zhou Xiao's contact information, but Zhou Chu shook his head. "I'm sorry, he just told me that he has a girl he likes."

Shu Jia was immediately dejected. "This is so discouraging. I thought my spring had finally arrived."

"Why are you so down?" Xu Siyue put her hand on her shoulder. "Three-legged toads are hard to find, but two-legged men are plentiful. I can use my connections to find you a dozen handsome guys tomorrow."

"Forget it," Shu Jia pushed her hand away, "You're still single yourself."

Xu Siyue: "..."

Everyone burst into laughter, but Zhou Chu finally said, "There are quite a few boys in our department, so we can organize a social event. Maybe we'll meet a suitable partner."

"Sure! I love social gatherings!" Shu Jia immediately raised her hand. "Invite me first if you organize one!"

The group ate and drank, and soon it got dark outside.

Yu Kui came out of the private room, her feelings still incredibly complicated.

She was completely unaware that Zhou Xiao actually had a twin brother, something that wasn't mentioned in the book.

She lifted her foot to walk out when a smiling voice came from behind her, "Where are you going?"

Yu Kui turned around and saw Xie Xingzhi standing behind her, looking at her with a smirk.

Yu Kui blinked. "What are you doing here?"

"Why can't I be here?" Xie Xingzhi raised an eyebrow. "You're allowed to come out to eat, but I'm not?"

Yu Kui: "..."

“I came out with my roommate,” Yu Kui explained, “her boyfriend treated us.”

"Is that so?" Xie Xingzhi looked at the three girls behind her and greeted them with a smile, "Hello, I'm Yu Kui's friend."

"Hello, hello," Shu Jia said with a bright smile, "I saw you bring Yu Kui back before, you're so handsome."

Yu Kui: "..."

"Thank you," Xie Xingzhi smiled and said, "I'll treat you to dinner another day."

"Hey—" Shu Jia said deliberately, "You're not Yu Kui's boyfriend, so you can't invite us to dinner."

Xie Xingzhi looked at Yu Kui and said without changing his expression, "Can't we even be good friends?"

"It's hard to say," Shu Jia said with a smile, "unless you give me your contact information."

Xie Xingzhi's smile gradually faded, and he said regretfully, "Then I'm afraid we won't be able to have this meal."

Shu Jia: "..."

"Are you having dinner with your classmates?" Yu Kui changed the subject.

"Hmm," Xie Xingzhi said, "My former high school classmates are coming to visit me. Should I go and see them?"

High school classmate?

Yu Kui felt a little resistant when she thought of his previous friends. "It's getting late, I have to go back to school. Maybe next time."

"Okay." Xie Xingzhi followed her to the entrance of the barbecue restaurant. "Good night."

Yu Kui didn't speak, but simply waved her hand gently.

"Your friend is really handsome," Xu Siyue said after Xie Xingzhi turned to leave. "He's even better looking than the most handsome guy in our department! He's just a bit aloof."

Yu Kui: "..." Why are there so many people who are obsessed with good looks these days?

“Exactly,” Shu Jia shrugged, “It’s so hard to even get their contact information, it’s heartbreaking.”

“You’ve only met him a few times,” Yu Kui said helplessly. “You don’t even know his name, so how can you be heartbroken?”

“You wouldn’t understand the pain of missing out on a handsome guy,” Xu Siyue said in a mature tone. “I really envy how calm and collected you are when you’re around him.”

Yu Kui didn't know what to say, so she kept her head down and continued walking forward.

Xie Xingzhi returned to the barbecue restaurant, and Sun Chaoyang immediately waved him over, "Brother Xie, you haven't made any progress with the good student yet?"

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Xie Xingzhi glanced at him.

“Who’s talking nonsense?” Sun Chaoyang winked. “Don’t think we don’t know why you came to City B. Isn’t it because you followed her here?”

"I'm here to study."

“You can study anywhere,” Sun Chaoyang said, not believing his reasoning. “You followed her as soon as she came out; don’t tell me you weren’t interested in her.”

"What could possibly be between us?" Xie Xingzhi grabbed a beverage bottle from the table and shoved it into his mouth. "You talk too much."

“I’m feeling sorry for you,” Sun Chaoyang said. He was Xie Xingzhi’s high school classmate and a brother he grew up with. “You’re in college now and you’re still so stubborn. It’s not like you anymore.”

“Yeah,” Xu Ye said with a glint in his eyes, “If you ask me, this woman is just putting on an act. If you force yourself on her a few times, her attitude will naturally soften.”

Xie Xingzhi's eyes turned cold, and he stared at him expressionlessly. "What did you say?"

Xu Ye felt flustered under his gaze. "I was just saying, don't be angry. We're all worried about you."

"Don't bring him here again," Xie Xingzhi said to Sun Chaoyang, ignoring Xu Ye. "You know in your heart who helped me get into university, so don't always let him come and spoil the fun."

"Xie Xingzhi, what do you mean by this!" Xu Ye immediately stood up. "I came to see you out of kindness, and you're giving me attitude because of a woman, is that it!"

"You're welcome to come see me, but if you're not perceptive, we're not brothers anymore."

"You!" Xu Ye stood up angrily and was about to leave when Sun Chaoyang grabbed him, saying helplessly, "If you hadn't offended a good student, would Brother Xie be so angry?"
