Chapter 108 Hometown

Wen Jianguo was naturally very proud that his daughter was so capable, buying such a large piece of land so easily. He said, "Of course, my daughter is really capable. Just based on this location and the scenery, the house my daughter builds for me will definitely be better than Old Li's!"

Building a house is not something that can be done overnight, so Wen Yixing briefly shared her thoughts with Wen Jianguo.

After all, she still has to go to school, and going back to China would be too much trouble. She can't stay here all day to keep an eye on things, so the matters here can only be handled by Wen Jianguo and Li Hongmei.

After hearing what Wen Yixing said, Wen Jianguo agreed without hesitation, "Anyway, your dad has time. If you can't come back, just tell your dad if you need anything."

Wen Yixing smiled and said, "Okay, thank you, Dad."

With the land issue mostly resolved, Wen Yixing planned to return to Beijing that afternoon. She had already booked her flight back to France, and with very little time remaining, she needed to get back to Beijing as soon as possible.

Since it's not convenient to get a taxi here, Shen Jingshao had his assistant drive over to pick them up.

Before leaving in the afternoon, Wen Jianguo and Li Hongmei packed a lot of things into their trunk, most of which were homemade specialties.

“We don’t have anything particularly good at home, but we’ll take it back and share it with our friends,” Wen Jianguo said as he put things inside.

Wen Yixing didn't actually need that much stuff. She wanted her parents to keep it for themselves, but Li Hongmei and Wen Jianguo wouldn't listen and filled the trunk completely before they were satisfied.

After finishing, Wen Jianguo still looked at Wen Yixing with concern. He didn't know when she would return from this trip abroad, and he was still reluctant to part with his daughter.

He said with concern, "You have to take good care of yourself while you're abroad. Don't just study all the time and forget to eat. Xiao Shen has told me this several times. He originally wanted me to persuade you, but you don't listen to me at all."

Wen Yixing smiled helplessly and asked, "When did he tell you?"

Wen Jianguo paused and fell silent.

This is a little secret between Shen Jingshao and him.

Shen Jingshao would come to visit them every now and then, and would also bring Wen Jianguo a lot of good wine.

During that time, Wen Yixing was so busy in France that she didn't have time to eat properly. Shen Jingshao told Wen Jianguo about this and thought that Wen Jianguo should call her more often to persuade her to eat.

Since it was essentially a secret complaint to her parents, Shen Jingshao asked Wen Jianguo not to tell Wen Yixing about it.

As a result, Wen Jianguo got excited today and accidentally let it slip.

Just as he was thinking about how to smooth things over, Li Hongmei glanced at him and laughed: "Alright, Lao Wen, stop pretending. With your acting skills, who can you fool!"

Wen Jianguo is not very good at lying; he gets nervous whenever he lies, which is very obvious.

Since Li Hongmei had already said that, Wen Jianguo could only smile helplessly.

“While you were abroad, Xiao Shen came to visit us often.” Li Hongmei looked at Wen Yixing and began to complain in a low voice, “Every time Xiao Shen came, he bought him a lot of good wine. Your dad can’t hold his liquor, but he’s greedy for alcohol. Every time he gets drunk, he pesters Xiao Shen and keeps talking until the middle of the night.”

"It's only because Xiao Shen has a good temper. If it were me, I would have given up long ago!"

Wen Yixing looked at Wen Jianguo: "Dad, drink less alcohol. Drinking too much is bad for your health."

Wen Jianguo: "...I didn't drink that much either."

After chatting for a while at the door, seeing that it was getting late, Wen Yixing decided to leave. "Mom and Dad, that's enough for now. I have to go, or I'll miss my flight."

Fang Jingyao also stuck his head out of the car: "Grandpa and Grandma, remember to take good care of yourselves!"

Li Hongmei came over and patted Fang Jingyao's head with a smile: "Yaoyao, Grandma brought you your favorite meat dumplings. They're in that red bag. Remember to eat them."

Fang Jingyao said crisply, "Thank you, Grandma!"

The car slowly started moving, and only after turning a corner and no longer being able to see her parents in the rearview mirror did Wen Yixing turn her gaze away and look at the beautiful scenery nearby.

She thought that when she returned, both she and her hometown would surely be better than they were now.
