As darkness fell, Shen Jingshao took a wet wipe from the car and wiped his hands.
Wen Yixing's hair roots were a little damp. Her eyes were vacant, and she leaned weakly on Shen Jingshao's shoulder, staring out the car window, lost in thought.
Shen Jingshao took a clean water cup from the car, held it to her lips, and coaxed her softly, "Want some water?"
Wen Yixing didn't move. After a while, she opened her mouth and drank some water.
After drinking the cool water, her previously dry throat felt much better. Wen Yixing looked up at him and gradually regained her composure.
"It's getting late, I should go back," Wen Yixing said softly. "Yaoyao should go home soon."
"Okay." Shen Jingshao reached out and helped her tidy her stray hairs. "I'll take you upstairs."
Wen Yixing: "No need, I can manage on my own."
She saw that Shen Jingshao was looking at her with some unease.
After a few seconds of eye contact, Wen Yixing belatedly realized that the tips of her ears had turned red. She looked away and whispered, "Really, I know my own body."
"You haven't eaten dinner yet. Remember to eat when you get back. The food I made hasn't been touched. Remember to heat it up in the microwave before you eat," Shen Jingshao instructed.
Wen Yixing: "I know."
After saying that, Wen Yixing looked up at him and said, "I'm so sorry that you haven't eaten either."
Her eyelashes were very long, and they were wet from crying.
Shen Jingshao smiled, unable to resist, and lowered his head to lightly kiss her eyes.
"It's okay, I'm very satisfied today."
"....."
Shen Jingshao's car was parked in a relatively secluded spot.
Wen Yixing was about to get out of the car when she looked up and was surprised to see her son returning with the nanny.
It was evening, and a pale crescent moon appeared on the horizon, while the streetlights gradually came on.
Seeing Wen Yixing's gaze fixed ahead, Shen Jingshao also looked up and gazed in that direction.
Under the warm yellow streetlights, a little boy was squatting on the ground picking foxtail grass.
Shen Jingshao also noticed two bouquets of flowers on the side of his schoolbag.
“It’s my child.” In the quiet car, Wen Yixing spoke softly to him, “You should have seen him before.”
“Yes, I’ve seen him before,” Shen Jingshao replied in a low voice. “He’s grown up very quickly.”
Shen Jingshao first met her child at the child's one-month celebration.
She was unwell and did not attend; Fang Shiyan brought out the infant child.
There were many people who went to see it at the time, but he only glanced at it briefly.
Her child looks a lot like her; the eyes are beautiful, the eyelashes are long, and the child looks somewhat like a girl.
I saw them again at an event later. The child was almost two years old, dressed very elegantly and cutely, and already looked like a little boy.
Time flies, and the little child from before has grown up so much.
Fang Jingyao, who was trying to pick wildflowers under the streetlight, lost his balance and almost fell, but luckily the nanny next to him pulled him up.
Wen Yixing wasn't worried; she wasn't the type to spoil her child.
When her child fell down occasionally, she would let him get up on his own.
Wen Yixing smiled: "Yes, I have indeed grown a lot taller in the past few months."
Shen Jingshao looked down at her; her gaze was always gentle when she looked at the child.
That was the child she carried for ten months and almost lost her life before giving birth. Shen Jingshao knew that she loved her child very much.
After all, her son was not far away, so Wen Yixing moved to the side and sat in the back seat of the car, keeping a distance from Shen Jingshao. "I'll wait for them to get up before I get out of the car."
From Shen Jingshao's perspective, he could see Fang Jingyao running happily forward with a bunch of foxtail grass in his hand. He laughed and said, "His personality is very different from his father's."
Wen Yixing agreed: "Indeed, Yao Yao is quite lively."
Fang Shiyan has always been rather aloof. Wen Yixing had seen photos of Fang Shiyan when he was a child back in their hometown.
The father and son looked somewhat alike when they were young, except that Fang Shiyan always had a cold expression and didn't like to smile much.
But Fang Jingyao was different. He loved to laugh since he was a child, was a bit mischievous, and liked to climb up and down.
Since the divorce, Wen Yixing has rarely thought of Fang Shiyan, nor has she paid any special attention to his news.
Wen Yixing had even blocked his contact information without hesitation, but a few days ago Li Qingyun still called and bothered her.
Fang Shiyu also sent her a message urging her to go back and take a look.
Wen Yixing remembers clearly that Fang Shiyu sent her the photos at the time.
This is a photo of Fang Shiyan receiving an IV drip at the hospital.
Sister-in-law, please go check on my brother. He hasn't eaten properly for days.
He used to love your lotus leaf and white fungus porridge the most. Could you make some? I'm willing to buy it.
Sister-in-law, our family hasn't treated you badly at all, please don't be so heartless.
The messages came in intermittently, and Wen Yixing didn't reply. Looking at Fang Shiyu's words, Wen Yixing just found them a bit ridiculous.
Since she married Fang Shiyan, Fang Shiyu has hardly ever called her sister-in-law; when they meet, he just calls her by her name.
Now that they're divorced, she's started calling him "sister-in-law" all the time.
Wen Yixing remained unmoved.
Seeing that Fang Shiyu was still sending her messages, Wen Yixing simply replied: "We're divorced now, it's not really appropriate for us to meet."
If he really wants some porridge, there's a Zhou Ji restaurant downstairs from the hospital; it tastes pretty much the same as mine. You can go there and buy some.
After sending these messages, Wen Yixing immediately blocked Fang Shiyu's contact information.
As a result, she has not received any further news about Fang Shiyan in recent days.
