Chapter Six
Fang Jingyao doesn't need to go to kindergarten on Saturdays, so he sleeps until he naturally wakes up.
After getting out of bed, Fang Jingyao found himself alone in the room, but his bedroom was filled with the faint scent of his mother. The presence of that scent made him feel inexplicably at ease.
As an adult, Fang Jingyao climbed out of bed, ran barefoot to his wardrobe, and got some clothes to wear.
He had a lot of clothes, and Fang Shiyan was never stingy with spending money on him, so he had countless toys and clothes when he was a child.
Fang Jingyao couldn't remember when Fang Shiyan had changed. He only remembered that after Fang Shiyan married Jiang Ruyue, he started to restrict his spending, ostensibly because he was worried that he would go astray if he had money, but what was the reality?
Well, actually, Fang Jingyao didn't understand what Fang Shiyan was thinking either.
Anyway, ever since he was old enough to understand things, his relationship with Fang Shiyan has never been good, especially after his mother passed away, their relationship deteriorated even more.
Fang Jingyao remembers that day clearly. Less than a year after his mother passed away, Fang Shiyan brought a heavily pregnant woman home.
He got angry and threw a tantrum before returning to his school dormitory, where he didn't go home for more than half a year.
When he returned, he found that there was a younger brother in the family. Jiang Ruyue had given birth to a boy, and the whole family was doting on the newborn baby. He realized that he didn't fit into the family at all.
It was from that day on that he realized that with his mother gone, he had no home anymore.
As a man who used to be 1.8 meters tall, Fang Jingyao is now particularly uncomfortable with his short stature. He can't even reach his clothes and has to climb ladders!
After finally getting dressed, Fang Jingyao stood in front of the mirror and examined his youthful face.
His face resembles his mother's seven parts and Fang Shiyan's three parts.
He looks very well-fed now, plump and fair-skinned with a face full of flesh. Fang Jingyao couldn't help but pinch his own soft cheeks.
Fang Jingyao had a little-known hobby: he especially liked to pinch children's faces. Children's faces were soft and felt great to touch. However, later on, he looked a bit fierce and had tattoos on his body. Many children would be scared to tears when they saw him, so he could never pinch their faces.
Later, when they were drinking, a friend joked with him, saying that since he liked children so much, he should just go to university and study to become a preschool teacher.
He was drunk at the time, and he actually did consider it for a while, but the conclusion he came to was that no kindergarten would want a teacher like him. If he were to go to a kindergarten, being a security guard would be more suitable.
Thinking of this, Fang Jingyao reached out and pinched his face again.
Now it's all good, it's just a soft, chubby face, he has one too! He can pinch it however he wants!
---
Wen Yixing originally thought Fang Jingyao hadn't woken up yet, and she was afraid of disturbing the child's rest. When she carefully pushed open the door, she saw that her son had already climbed out of bed and was standing in front of the mirror pinching his face.
From Fang Jingyao's vantage point, he could see Wen Yixing standing at the door. He immediately lowered his hand, turned around, and ran towards Wen Yixing, calling out, "Mom! Mom!"
Distracted by her son's words, Wen Yixing didn't pay much attention to his strange behavior earlier. She squatted down and hugged her child: "What would you like to eat this morning, baby?"
Fang Jingyao was very smart from a young age. He could dress himself when he was four years old, although he would sometimes wear his clothes in a wrinkled way or put his pants on backwards.
But today, Fang Jingyao put his clothes on quite well, without any wrinkles or putting them on backwards. Wen Yixing only needed to help him straighten the hem of his clothes.
"Eat...eat clear soup noodles!" Fang Jingyao answered crisply.
"Okay." Wen Yixing stood up and took her son's little hand. "Let's go downstairs to eat."
Clear broth noodles are very simple to make. Since there is a chef at home, all the ingredients are readily available. In less than 20 minutes, Wen Yixing cooked the clear broth noodles.
Smelling the familiar scent from his memory, Fang Jingyao felt a stinging sensation in his eyes. Afraid that Wen Yixing would notice something was wrong, he buried his face even lower.
The clear broth noodles his mother made always had a special flavor—light, delicious, and subtly savory. Fang Jingyao ate it in big mouthfuls, finishing a whole bowl without leaving a drop of broth.
Great, he got to eat his mother's clear soup noodles again.
In less than a day, Fang Jingyao had lost count of how many times he had sighed with emotion.
Fang Jingyao was engrossed in eating noodles when he finished and noticed his mother looking at the computer. Upon closer inspection, he discovered it was a resume.
Fang Jingyao was somewhat surprised. In his previous life, his mother had always been a full-time housewife, and she never went out to work until she fell ill and passed away.
Upon seeing this resume, Fang Jingyao had a new guess in his mind: could it be that his mother had also wanted to go out to work, but for some reason couldn't?
If that's the case, Fang Jingyao knows without even thinking who's preventing his mother from going out to work.
It was either Old Mrs. Fang or Fang Shiyan; his mother listened to these two the most.
If my mother had been able to go out to work back then, perhaps she wouldn't have developed depression later on.
Fang Jingyao thought for a moment and had already made up his mind.
He deliberately leaned closer and asked curiously, "Mom, what's this?"
Wen Yixing always respected her son. She picked him up and put him on her lap, and said gently, "This is Mom's resume."
Fang Jingyao looked at the resume in front of him carefully.
