Chapter 119 Tender Feelings. The Return of an Old Friend (Part 1)

Back home, a passionate encounter ensued. Surprisingly, he only wanted it once before letting her go.

"It's going to rain blood! Confess, did you steal some?" Ling Ruoke questioned, pulling back the covers to look at him. When she saw the colonel's imposing member, she was speechless. But isn't tomorrow the weekend? Has the colonel lost his mind?

The colonel, unaware of his wife's thoughts, pulled her close and kissed her. "Go to sleep, we have important things to do tomorrow."

Then, he went to take a cold shower by himself.

Ling Ruoke listened to the sound of water in the bathroom and lay down suspiciously. She wondered what she would do tomorrow, and before she knew it, she was asleep.

The colonel turned off the stove and came out to find his wife curled up in bed, fast asleep. He quickly warmed himself by rubbing his hands together, then snuggled into the covers and cuddled with her. But soon he looked up again, and they remained locked in a stalemate all night, suffering terribly.

Ling Ruo was unaware of any of this and slept soundly and peacefully.

The colonel couldn't resist and lingered in bed with his wife for an hour before finally getting up the next day.

"Sometimes, man is like a wild beast; you can't open the floodgates even once. Once you do, it's very difficult to shut them down." At this moment, the colonel fully affirmed the feelings of the person who wrote these words.

After their passionate encounter, Ling Ruoke was pushed into the bathtub for a soak. The colonel then diligently went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, and it seemed as if he could faintly hear someone humming a tune.

After eating the colonel's lovingly prepared breakfast, Ling Ruoke was dragged out the door and shoved into the Hummer. "Hey, where are we going? Why are we being so secretive?" She really couldn't figure out what could be so mysterious that the colonel had to stay up all night!

When the colonel didn't want to talk, his mouth was tighter than a zipper. After all, they were special forces soldiers; if they couldn't do that, they'd be eliminated. He still vividly remembered the feelings he had when he experienced that life-or-death challenge. Now that he was a team leader, he was constantly looking for ways to mess with those pumpkins.

When the car stopped outside a certain photo studio, Ling Ruoke suddenly woke up from her dream.

“I’ve checked, and everyone says this place is good. I’ve already made an appointment with them; we have a whole day.” The colonel took her hand and led her inside.

She was suddenly very touched. They had talked about taking wedding photos before, but he had been busy. She thought he had forgotten, but he had remembered and even prepared them.

Taking wedding photos is a beautiful thing, but it can also be exhausting. The woman is naturally the most tired, because she has to do makeup, change hairstyles, and wear countless elaborate gowns. Men have it much easier, especially men like the colonel who absolutely refuse to let you put anything on their face.

"You should persuade your husband; he'll look much better with makeup on," a staff member said to Ling Ruoke.

Ling Ruoke looked at the colonel reading a book on the sofa, smiled and shook her head. "His appearance and personality are not suited to makeup, don't force him."

If he were willing to let someone put makeup on his face, he wouldn't be Huo Qingfeng. Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder; at least she thought her colonel was the most handsome.

Noticing his wife's gaze, the colonel looked up and gave her a gentle smile. But it vanished quickly, just a fleeting glance.

A tall, handsome, and cool guy with eyes only for his woman! In an instant, he made a bunch of girls envious.

Finally, the first makeup and styling was done, and the group got into the car and headed to the location.

The colonel had contacted the photography studio beforehand and emphasized that his face could not be photographed. Therefore, the photographer had obviously planned out the poses in advance and even wrote them down in a notebook.

After a series of photos, the bride smiled sweetly at the camera, radiating happiness. The groom, on the other hand, mostly gazed affectionately at the bride; even his profile shots were rarely clear enough to connect the real bride to the photo.

The staff all complained about how regrettable it was, but Ling Ruoke didn't seem to care much. It was his position, and there was nothing more to say about it.

Finally, the photographer also sent the colonel more than a dozen solo photos. Wearing a grass-green military uniform, he was, in today's terms, incredibly handsome!

The photographer was shooting dynamic shots, having the colonel perform a certain action, like leaping into the air, kicking, or throwing a punch, and then snapping a picture. The camera clicked incessantly, a particularly captivating sound.

These photos became Ling Ruoke's favorites!

After almost a whole day of work, we finally finished filming. Everyone was exhausted.

Ling Ruoke got into the Hummer, leaned over and hugged the colonel's neck, planting several kisses on his neck. "Huo Qingfeng, I'm loving you more and more!"

The colonel's response was to embrace her and give her a long kiss, until she was breathless.

I'm so tired. But that's the bittersweet feeling of it all!

Lying in bed that night, Ling Ruoke was still eagerly awaiting the photos to be developed; she wanted to admire the colonel's dashing figure. Speaking of which, that photographer was fantastic, even thinking of taking such a portrait of the colonel! Because of this, she'd recommend him to more people in the future.

The colonel had to rush back to his unit early the next morning. Despite being exhausted from the day, he spent most of the night cuddling with his wife.

Ling Ruoke was exhausted, but knowing he wouldn't be back for days, she held back from begging for mercy. She responded passionately, giving the colonel a satisfying experience. Once the colonel was finally content, she was limp and fell into a deep sleep.

The colonel was heartbroken and held her tightly, refusing to let go. He didn't tell her about the problems with the marriage application approval. He would handle the troubles; she just needed to be happy.

A tender night, sweet dreams. Dawn is breaking.

...

The daily necessities company submitted its proposal first, followed by the xxx candy company's.

A week later, Ling Ruoke received good news: they had succeeded. To reward the team for their hard work, Ling Ruoke treated them to dinner.

She just didn't expect to run into Gary so coincidentally. Ling Ruoke was going to the restroom when she bumped into Gary, who had just come out of the restroom.

"Moon? What a coincidence, I didn't expect to run into you here." Gary greeted him with a smile, seemingly unfazed.

Ling Ruoke quickly greeted them with a friendly smile. "...Everyone has been quite busy lately, so I'm treating them to a meal to reward them."

“It seems Moon is a really good boss. Are you busy with the proposal?” Gary wiped his hands repeatedly, his eyes fixed on her.

Ling Ruoke nodded with a smile.

"Two more suppliers participated in the proposal this year, which has definitely increased the competition. However, I personally still prefer you old friends with whom I have a good working relationship. Perhaps we can get together for a meal another day and talk things over."

"Okay, let's meet again sometime. Goodbye." Ling Ruoke smiled and left.

She understood the obvious hint. However, that didn't mean she would eagerly seize the opportunity simply because he extended an olive branch. Now that she had secured a partnership with the daily necessities company, she was even less afraid.

Another week passed, and it was time to submit the proposal.

As expected, they failed to win this year's proposal, but that wasn't entirely unexpected. However, the employees who had poured their hearts and souls into writing the proposal were indignant, feeling their hard work had been wasted by unspoken rules.

Ling Ruoke remained calm, reassuring her employees and assuring them that she would find more clients. Having just achieved a major success, everyone still had a lot of confidence in her.

Unexpectedly, a few days later, he received a call from xxx Candy Company, asking him to revise his proposal. It turned out that Gary's scandal involving alleged favoritism had surfaced; a supplier had reported his misconduct on the company's official website. This effectively sealed Gary's fate.

A new marketing manager took office and, to ensure fairness, decided to revise the proposal. The company that originally won the proposal naturally disagreed, but since the contract hadn't been signed yet and this incident had occurred, it wasn't unreasonable for them to object.

This time, Pehoe won by virtue of his strength. The group was so happy they were almost going crazy, and they went out to sing karaoke to celebrate that night.

Ling Ruoke specially brought the little one along, and they played with the older brothers and sisters until after nine o'clock. Then they continued playing, and she took the little one home.

Ling Ruoke paid the bill, and the mother and son took a taxi home, leaving the car for Xia Mo to take the girl home. The next day was the weekend, and they would probably stay out until midnight.

Ling Ruoke has been quite busy with work lately, so she decided to take the little one out for a day of fun the next day. But after thinking about it, she couldn't come up with any good places, so she decided to just wander around the area. She figured they could stop by the amusement park for a bit if they passed by.

In springtime, Z City is ablaze with blooming flowers along the roads, an indescribable beauty. A gentle breeze carries their intoxicating fragrance.

"Mommy, it smells so good!" the little guy said, taking a deep sniff and grinning with his white teeth.

Ling Ruoke smiled and ruffled his hair. "Spring is here, the flowers are in full bloom, that's why they smell so good."

"Mommy, what kind of flower is this?" the little one asked excitedly, pointing to the flowers by the roadside.

Ling Ruoke answered each question one by one. The mother and son worked together seamlessly, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere. Especially since they were wearing matching outfits, it was impossible not to take a second look.

Tam Pui-Sze once said that this mother and son, dressed in matching outfits, were practically advertising for a clothing company! She was excitedly touching her belly, wishing the baby would come out immediately and grow into a cute three or four-year-old. Their comical appearance was truly hilarious.

The mother and son spent most of the day strolling around, mainly visiting parks and similar places. Because spring has arrived and the weather is sunny, many mothers were "walking" their children on the grass in the parks. The little guy could find playmates there.

Ling Ruoke chatted with the other mothers. When several mothers get together, they always have endless topics to talk about, so time flies by.

Later, for some reason, the children started fighting.

Ling Ruoke and several other mothers rushed over and saw that Xiao Fu'an had just been pushed to the ground.

Ling Ruoke's anger flared up instantly, because it wasn't the child who pushed Fu'an, but the mother of the child who had fought with Fu'an. "Ma'am, why did you push my child!"

"I was just about to confront you. Look what your kid did to my son!" The child was a head taller than Fu'an and quite chubby. However, he was covered in mud and grass clippings and looked rather disheveled.

The colonel was unusually protective of his own, and Ling Ruoke was too. Looking down, she saw scratches on Xiao Fu'an's face. "Big sister, please be reasonable. Your son is tall and strong; who would believe my son beat him up like this? Your son was just dirty, but my son has scratches on his face. How are we going to settle this?"

In truth, Ling Ruoke knew that thanks to his father's training, the little guy was quite strong. However, he wouldn't fight easily because they both valued discipline, and the little guy wouldn't strike first.

With such a significant size difference between the two children, everyone naturally sided with the smaller child. Furthermore, since the mothers had been chatting amicably while the mother of the chubby child stood arrogantly to the side, no one spoke up for her.

Seeing that things were going badly, the woman cursed and dragged her child away.

Afterwards, Ling Ruoke told Tan Peishi about it. Tan Peishi looked her up and down, left and right, and finally said, "Ling Ruoke, I always thought you were otherworldly, but it turns out you can be so mundane!"

Pei Shi laughed so loudly that she got a scolding from Tan's mother.

Because of the fight, Ling Ruoke took the little guy and left. She stopped when they reached a quiet corner, where few people were around, and touched the scratches on his face. "Does it hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt." Huo Fu'an is a very strong child.

Ling Ruoke pulled him to sit down on the stone bench. "Why did you fight?" She protected him in public, but she still needed to educate him in private, lest he become a fighting king in the future.

"He, he stole my Teletubby!" the little guy cried out, clutching his precious toy.

The Teletubbies pendant was carved by the colonel from a bullet and he wears it around his neck as a necklace. The little guy treasures it dearly.

Ling Ruoke understood. She put her hand on his shoulder and looked into his big, dark eyes. "You can't fight like that anymore. If it happens at school, you can tell the teacher and have them punish him. If you're with Daddy and Mommy, you can tell them that you can't fight like that, okay?"

"Okay, Mommy, I won't do it again." Under the Colonel's "carrot and stick" policy, little Huo Fu'an has become very well-behaved.

Ling Ruoke patted his head. "But what if Fu'an made a mistake today?"

The little guy stared at her with wide eyes, then turned his back and stuck out his little bottom.

Ling Ruoke almost couldn't help but laugh, and gave him three perfunctory slaps. "Come on, Mommy will carry you home."

Huo Fu'an quickly climbed up; he loved it when his mom carried him on her back.

Later, the little guy wanted to eat KFC. So I took him in, ordered him a few egg tarts, and watched him slowly finish them before he would climb back onto my back.

Passing by the photo studio, Ling Ruoke remembered their wedding photos and went inside. The colonel had already arranged everything; none of the photos would be deleted. The photo album, large-format prints, and everything else were already prepared. She could simply take them.

"Mommy, it looks beautiful!" The little one also stood on tiptoe to admire his parents' wedding photos.

Because the largest photo was quite large, Ling Ruoke had to carry it between her arms and pull the little one along the way home.

They stayed at the photo studio for quite some time, so it was already getting dark.

The little one kept babbling and asking questions, his mouth never stopping.

Suddenly, Ling Ruoke's eyes changed. Danger! Sure enough, a few moments later, several figures darted out of the bushes.

Ling Ruoke lifted Fu'an onto her back with one hand. "Fu'an, hug Mommy's neck."

Huo Fu'an immediately hugged her tightly. Her large, dark eyes, like black grapes, looked at the situation with bewilderment. There was no fear, only curiosity.

They were just a few street thugs; Ling Ruoke could easily take them down in two moves. She finally picked the one who looked the most timid and stepped on his wrist. "Who sent you? Tell me!"

The man even turned his head to one side as if to show his toughness, as if to say, "I'm not going to say anything, what can you do about it?"

Ling Ruoke was too lazy to waste words with him and suddenly increased the pressure on her foot. She was wearing sneakers, not military boots, otherwise her hand would have been ruined.

"Ouch—" A scream like a pig being slaughtered. The man dared not turn his head to one side anymore, but instead tried to pry Ling Ruoke's feet open with his other hand.

"Speak, or I'll cripple your hand!" She made a move to increase the force.

The man cried out, "Ah, don't step on me, don't step on me! I'll talk, I'll talk!"

Ling Ruoke sneered, turned around abruptly, and kicked away the person who was trying to attack her from behind.

The sound of the attacker hitting the pavement rang out, and the thugs all flinched. None of them had expected a woman to be so powerful!

"I'll talk, I'll talk!" Before she could even speak, the owner of the arm at her feet quickly spoke up.

"Get out!" Ling Ruoke got the answer she wanted, kicked him, and told them to get lost.

They immediately seemed to be haunted, and in a great hurry, they disappeared without a trace.

Ling Ruoke slowly narrowed her eyes. It was actually Gary, that lecherous bastard! It seems he thought she was the one who exposed the unspoken rules! But it's no wonder, after the resubmission of the proposal, only Pei Huo got the opportunity, while the other two companies remained unchanged! In this way, Pei Huo naturally had to take the blame.

I tugged at the little one on my back and continued on my way home.

"Mommy, you're amazing! Just like Ultraman!" Huo Fu'an thought his mommy was incredibly amazing, and his heart was filled with little bubbles of admiration.

Ling Ruoke couldn't help but laugh. In every child's heart, Ultraman is the savior of humanity. So when they meet someone powerful, they say they're as powerful as Ultraman. "Then will you call me Ultraman from now on?"

"No, I want to call you Ultraman Mommy!" Little Fu'an's mind works pretty fast.

Ling Ruoke teased him. "That's Ultraman's mommy, what does it have to do with you? Don't you want your mommy anymore?"

"Huh? Then I'll still call her Mommy, Mommy Mommy!" He called her twice, afraid that if he was too slow, they wouldn't let him call her that anymore.

Ling Ruoke agreed and patted his bottom with her other hand. "Let's go home. Come on, baby, sing for Mommy."

"Pleasant Goat, Beautiful Goat, Lazy Goat..." A cute child's voice began singing the theme song of "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf." Although the pronunciation was unclear, the tune was mostly in tune. When he encountered parts he couldn't remember, his mother had to remind him.

The journey home for the mother and son was also full of fun.

Back home, Ling Ruoke cooks in the kitchen.

The phone rang, and the little guy answered it with practiced ease, babbling about how amazing Mommy was.

Instantly, the colonel on the other end of the phone narrowed his eyes, exuding a dangerous aura. Someone actually dared to bully his wife! Did they have a death wish?!

When the little guy handed the phone to his mother, she was about to face a barrage of questions from the colonel.

Ling Ruoke had no choice but to recount Gary's situation. She repeatedly emphasized that the colonel should remain calm, and that she would handle it herself. She still did not advocate for resolving problems with force, nor did she want the colonel to impulsively violate military regulations.

"Hmm. Even if I wanted to act impulsively, I'd need the time." The colonel reassured her.

Ling Ruoke was finally relieved.

She only realized her mistake when she saw the news the next day. Who had dared to try and take advantage of her? How could the colonel possibly tolerate it?

Gary was beaten so badly his head was swollen, and his internal injuries were even more severe. However, he hadn't even seen who the attacker was. He stammered when speaking to the police, afraid to say what had happened. He only described how powerful the attacker was, like a master who appeared and disappeared without a trace.

His tone of voice, coupled with his pitiful appearance, was quite funny and amused the audience.

Ling Ruoke, however, knew at a glance that this was the colonel's handiwork. Knowing his temperament well, she didn't say anything. This was his way of expressing love, and she simply accepted it. After all, he always knew how to behave appropriately.

On Monday at work, Pei Huo's employees talked about the incident, and they all felt a sense of satisfaction. The young girl's hero complex instantly erupted, and she worshipped the mysterious master to the extreme.

Ling Ruoke covered her mouth and chuckled in the office. She had to admit, sometimes the colonel was quite adorable and endearing.
