Chapter 36 The Future Mother-in-Law Arrives

Yang Ziyun stood at the entrance of the residential area, watching the mother and son walk slowly towards her hand in hand, talking about something, both of them smiling happily.

Just as she felt upon their first meeting, this girl was indeed a good mother. Seeing how affectionate Xiao Fu'an was with her, it was clear she truly loved him as her own child. Becoming a stepmother so unexpectedly, yet still treating the child so well, was something few could do. At least, someone like Gu Zheng would absolutely not.

Why is such a wonderful girl a divorced woman? Otherwise, everything would be perfect.

"Grandma!" The little guy suddenly let go of his mother's hand and rushed forward like a locomotive, plunging headfirst into a warm embrace.

Ling Ruoke then noticed that someone was waiting for them downstairs. With a smile, she approached with a slightly nervous heart. "Aunt Yang."

Yang Ziyun held Fu'an in her arms, looking at the girl's gentle face and slightly shy smile, feeling increasingly moved. She returned the smile and nodded. She preferred reasoning to intimidating people.

"Miss Ling, I didn't expect to meet you again."

The address "Miss Ling" startled Ruoke, and her heart sank. But she quickly composed herself and hurriedly led the woman into the house. "Aunt Yang, let's go inside and have a cup of tea before we talk."

Yang Ziyun walked into the house and saw the warm and cozy decor, which further convinced her that this girl was truly a wonderful person. The three-bedroom apartment wasn't very large, but every detail was carefully chosen, exuding a warm and homey atmosphere. There was a reason why Qingfeng liked her so much.

Ling Ruoke poured her a glass of water, then took a small cup and fed the little one. The little one had already developed the habit, and holding the cup in her hand, she gulped down the water in the cup.

Just as Ling Ruoke was about to sit down next to Yang Ziyun, the little one grabbed her and cried, "Mommy, cake, eat cake!"

This was because the little guy was already too hungry when dinner was served, so I gave him something to tide him over. The cake was homemade, so it wasn't too sweet or greasy.

Because Huo Qingfeng's mother had arrived, she was a little nervous and forgot her habit. She hurriedly took the little guy to wash his hands and put a few small cakes on a plate on the table. The little guy had already picked up a cake as if he knew what he was doing and began to eat it with relish.

"Aunt Yang, these are little cakes I made myself. Please have a taste. Fu'an, won't you give Grandma a piece?"

The little one obediently took a piece of cake and handed it to his grandma. "Grandma, cake, it's delicious!"

Yang Ziyun took the cake; it was light and springy, and looked quite good. She held it up a little higher and asked Ruoke, "Won't this be too greasy to eat before dinner?"

Ruo Ke quickly shook her head with a smile. "No, you'll know once you try it. I got home a little late from get off work, and the kids get hungry easily, so I made these little cakes to tide him over before dinner. I didn't put in much sugar or cream because I was worried they'd get soggy."

Seeing the little guy happily eating, Yang Ziyun put the cake to her lips and took a small bite, finding it wasn't too sweet. "Hmm, not bad."

The important thing is that she went to great lengths for the little one. So, she couldn't help but smile. In any case, she was definitely a kind and thoughtful girl.

Ling Ruoke secretly breathed a sigh of relief. "Aunt Yang, please sit with Fu'an for a while, I'll go cook."

Yang Ziyun nodded. After she entered the kitchen, she stood up and walked around the house.

"Grandma, Grandma, look!" The little guy tugged at his grandma's hand, wanting her to see his room.

Yang Ziyun pushed open the door and was immediately struck by the warm and inviting children's room. Even adults would find it appealing, let alone children. "Fu'an, did Daddy decorate this room for you?"

The little guy shook his head and answered with a hint of pride, "It's Mommy, it's Mommy!"

Yang Ziyun reached out and touched the cartoon decorations, feeling deeply moved. She hadn't expected that Ruo Ke could do so much for Fu'an. From holding hands and chatting happily on the way there, to the series of habits they shared upon entering the house, and the decorations in this room, everything exuded the warmth of love.

She had previously heard Qingfeng say that Ruoke and Fu'an got along better than a real mother and son, and she thought it was somewhat exaggerated, but she never expected that it was completely true.

Yang Ziyun then checked the other two bedrooms and discovered that they weren't sleeping together. This surprised her, especially considering her son's urgent tone, as if he wanted to tear her apart and devour her immediately.

Qingfeng's room was as always, with very few belongings. Ruoke's room, on the other hand, had quite a lot of things, but it was very tidy. On the table was a photo of the family of three, smiling broadly, radiating an aura of happiness.

After walking around the house, Yang Ziyun arrived at the kitchen door. She saw Ruoke washing vegetables, the little guy clinging to her leg, babbling something. Ruoke patiently answered him, occasionally interjecting with questions to guide his thinking.

The scene was so heartwarming that one didn't want to disturb it.

"Mommy, when is Daddy coming back?" The little guy was talking when he remembered his daddy, so he blinked his big eyes and asked in his childish voice.

Ling Ruoke smiled and looked down at him. "Mommy doesn't know either. But Mommy knows that Daddy must miss Xiao Fu'an too. When Daddy comes back, let him take you to the amusement park, okay?"

"Okay!" The little guy smiled, his big eyes narrowing into slits.

Ling Ruoke wiped her hands and patted his little head. "Mommy's cooking, Xiao Fu'an, go outside and talk to Grandma, okay?"

The little one looked up at her and asked, "Where's Mommy?"

Ling Ruoke smiled and pinched his chubby cheeks. Every time she cooked in the kitchen, the little guy liked to sit beside her on a small stool and talk to her.

"Mommy will cook for Xiao Fu'an and Grandma. Grandma is all alone outside and no one is keeping her company, so Xiao Fu'an, please be a good boy and go keep Grandma company, okay?"

"Okay! Fu'an will stay with Grandma!" The little guy obediently went out.

Ling Ruoke didn't know what Huo's mother liked to eat, and besides, it was too late to go to the supermarket to buy it. She just thought that older people prefer light flavors, so she didn't add any strong-flavored seasonings like chili peppers.

Finally, I prepared a light meal consisting of four dishes and a soup.

Noticing that Yang Ziyun was looking at the food she had prepared, Ling Ruoke said somewhat uneasily, "I didn't know what kind of dishes you liked, so I just made some random ones. Please don't mind."

Yang Ziyun smiled. "Don't use honorifics, it sounds awkward. I'm not a picky eater, these dishes are fine."

Ling Ruoke finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat down to serve the little guy food.

"Has Qingfeng told you everything about Xiao Fu'an's background?" Yang Ziyun suddenly asked while eating her meal in silence.

Ling Ruoke shook her head. "No. But he said he'd tell me later if he had the chance. Xiao Fu'an is also very cute, I like him a lot."

Yang Ziyun glanced at Xiao Fu'an, nodded, and then suddenly asked, "What about you? Do you have any children with your ex-husband?"

Her tone was gentle, but Ruoke felt as if a hammer had struck her heart.

It's finally here!
