Chapter 96 Searching for My Husband in the Wolf's Den 2

In the afternoon, I took Cang Wei out.

Our first stop was University A. Three years had passed, and University A hadn't changed much. The only difference was that the faces from back then had been replaced by a new generation of youthful faces. The campus, the world of young people, was always full of vitality.

Ling Ruoke walked slowly, recalling those happy times from the past little by little. However, everything had changed, and she could no longer find any trace of those days.

Ling Ruo wasn't stupid; she naturally guessed Cang Weiwo's purpose. Listening to him recount those past events, she offered no response. The more beautiful the past, the more desolate the present—why bother mentioning it again?

Cang Weiwo seemed unconcerned, continuing to speak as if nothing had happened. She realized for the first time that Cang Weiwo could be so talkative. Perhaps, what he sought wasn't her response, but rather his own release.

An afternoon passed quickly.

In the same place, the two people had different feelings.

Perhaps because of the exercise, Ling Ruoke actually fell asleep that night, although her sleep was extremely restless.

Unbeknownst to her, Cang Weiwo sat by her bedside all night, meticulously sketching her features in the darkness. He only quietly left when she was about to wake up.

Ling Ruoke finished washing up and, sure enough, saw Tan Peishi waiting for her. She shouted with delight and rushed downstairs. But because she was in such a hurry, she missed a step and fell.

"If it's alright!" Cang Weiwo leaped up from the middle of the stairs, grabbed her and held her in his arms, and the two of them tumbled down the stairs together.

"Are you alright?" He busied himself checking her for injuries. His own hands were bleeding, but he didn't care at all.

Tan Peishi stared blankly at all of this. Why did she feel that Cang Wei's attitude towards Ruo Ke was different?

"I'm fine." Ling Ruoke pushed him away and stood up. She looked at the blood on his hands, moved her lips but didn't say anything. She turned around and walked towards her friend. "Peishi."

Two equally haggard women embraced each other tightly.

“If possible, I will set you free.” Before getting into the car, Cang Wei hugged her, gently kissed her forehead, and solemnly announced, “However, I will have someone follow you for a month. Not to monitor you, but just to protect your safety, only for one month.”

It's only been a month, it's not that hard to get through. And this time, she's willing to believe him.

Only when the two were seated side-by-side on the plane did Ling Ruoke finally let out a heavy sigh. Cang Weiwo was finally gone from her life; she would never be afraid of him again. She turned to her friend beside her and smiled faintly, "Peishi, I'm finally free and at ease."

"Congratulations." Tan Peishi leaned over and touched her head to hers, genuinely happy for her.

As Ling Ruoke finished speaking, a wave of melancholy washed over her. If Cang Wei had let go sooner, perhaps things wouldn't be like this now. But life has no "what ifs," no "perhaps."

She slowly rested her head on Pei Shi's thin shoulder, staring blankly at the blue sky and white clouds outside the window.

As expected, after they got off the plane, they found someone waiting for them.

Back home, everything was covered in dust again.

Ling Ruoke was very weak, but she still insisted on cleaning the house. Tan Peishi had no choice but to accompany her, and the two of them worked together to do a thorough cleaning.

When it was over, the two of them lay side by side on the floor, not wanting to move a single finger.

"If you're okay, do you remember when we talked about starting an advertising planning company?" Tan Peishi turned her head and asked.

Ling Ruoke smiled slightly. "Yes, of course I remember." She was young then, full of hope for the future. It's a little laughable to say that; she was only 24. She'd experienced so much in those three years, and now she felt incredibly old.

She has the body of a twenty-year-old but the heart of an eighty-year-old—that's a perfect description of her.

"If possible, let's start a company and do what we've always wanted to do!" Originally, all she wanted was a happy marriage, to take care of her husband and children, but after a disaster, everything was gone. So she needed to find something to do; otherwise, how would she get through the days?

Ling Ruoke looked at her with slight surprise, then suddenly smiled and nodded vigorously. "Okay, let's start a company!" Anyway, we have the funds now. The company will definitely be very busy at the beginning, which will be a good way to distract ourselves.

The two men reached out and gave each other a hard high five.

"come on!"

Victory is certain!

Their eyes met, and for the first time in days, they both smiled genuinely! It felt so good to have found something to do!

Do what you want to do.

The two of them got up to cook and eat, then took a shower and snuggled up in bed, talking and drawing, sketching out their ideas. They still wanted to open their company in Z City, because it was their home, the place where their souls resided.

The two discussed the company name for a long time but couldn't come up with a suitable one. In the end, they had to put it aside and focus on other things, such as registration and site selection.

The two women discussed animatedly until past midnight, when they finally got sleepy, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep. It was the first time in a long time that they had slept so soundly.

That tall, imposing figure slowly approached. His eyes were gentle yet firm, a faint smile playing on his lips; even his walk exuded a captivating charm…

Finally, he stood before her, looking down at her. The tenderness in his eyes deepened. "Ruoke," he whispered, his voice magnetic.

He took her hand and smiled gently. "Ruoke, I promised you I would protect myself."

"Qingfeng!" Ling Ruoke cried out, waking up. It was that dream; she had that dream again, exactly the same!

"Ruo Ke, what's wrong?" Tan Peishi was awakened by her shout, and sat up groggily while rubbing her eyes.

Ling Ruoke looked at her and raised her hand to touch her brow. "It's nothing, I had a dream. I dreamt of Qingfeng, the exact same dream as that day."

“You’re back home. Familiar places remind you of familiar people, which is why you’re having dreams,” Tan Peishi said, somewhat sadly. She envied Ruo Ke; at least Ruo Ke’s dreams were pleasant. As for herself, she dreamed every time that Fu Peigang was either blown up or shot.

Ling Ruoke nodded blankly. "I think so too." Heaven knows how much she wished this dream were real. But everyone told her it was because she missed him too much.

After a moment of blank staring, Ling Ruoke threw back the covers and got out of bed. "Get up quickly, we have a lot to do."

Before brushing her teeth in the bathroom, Ling Ruoke's eyes suddenly lit up, and she turned around and shouted, "Peishi, let's call our company Peihuo Advertising Planning Co., Ltd., what do you think?"

"Okay!" Tan Peishi nodded with a smile, tears welling in her eyes.

Pei Huo Pei Huo, it's as if Fu Peigang and the captain are still by their side, supporting them to survive!

"Ah, I need to go online and check if anyone uses this name. I need to think of a few more." Ling Ruoke hurriedly turned back and frantically turned on her computer.

Tan Peishi wiped her eyes, walked over, and leaned against her. "I don't think so, we—"

She wanted to say how lucky they were, but the words caught in her throat. They were widows at such a young age; where did their good fortune come from?

He gave a bitter smile and said nothing more.

Starting a company isn't like setting up a breakfast stall on the roadside; there's a lot to do. And the efficiency of the relevant departments definitely needs improvement; Ling Ruoke and Tan Peishi were running around so much in the sweltering summer heat they were almost getting heatstroke.

When they got back that evening, the two of them lay in bed, unable to move even a finger. They also showed signs of heatstroke, feeling nauseous and uncomfortable.

"Qingfeng!" Ling Ruoke woke up screaming again; she had the exact same dream again. Covering her face with her hands, she felt like she was being bewitched.

Turning my head, I found that Pei Shi was already up.

Ling Ruoke got out of bed and walked out barefoot, seeing Peishi making breakfast in the kitchen. She was about to speak when she saw a drop of liquid fall. Peishi was crying!

She quietly slipped to the door, pressed herself against the wall, and looked up. Suddenly, she felt a stinging sensation in her nose and her eyes stinging. They were all trying to smile, but their hearts were aching terribly, and they only dared to secretly shed tears when they were alone.

Ling Ruoke went back to her room, washed her face, and changed her clothes before coming out. As soon as she stepped out of the room, she called out loudly, "Peishi, have you made breakfast yet?"

"It'll be ready to eat soon," the person in the kitchen replied loudly, wiping away tears in a flurry of activity.

At the breakfast table, no one mentioned anything sad; the conversation revolved around work. However, they both saw each other's red eyes and understood each other implicitly.

On the third night, Ling Ruoke had the exact same dream again. This time, she could no longer simply treat it as a dream.

"You're going to country X to find the captain?" Tan Peishi looked at her in astonishment. She thought she had already let go of this absurd idea, but she didn't expect her to bring it up again now.

Ling Ruoke pursed her lips and nodded firmly. "Peishi, I've been having this dream for days. I have to find out for sure, otherwise I'm afraid I'll regret it later."

She felt that it wasn't a dream from a spirit, but rather a spiritual connection between her and Qingfeng!

"You're going to Country X alone? That's impossible. Country X may not be as big as China, but how can you find someone in a completely unfamiliar place without any clues? If you can't, this won't work. You must calm down!" What if she loses her life there?

Ling Ruoke nodded. "I know. I won't go rashly. I need to think it over carefully, very carefully."

That day, Ling Ruoke didn't go out to handle company matters; instead, she stayed home to think about a plan to go to Country X. She knew she couldn't find anyone on her own. She needed someone influential in Country Z to help her.

She spent the whole day thinking, but couldn't find a feasible solution. The only people she knew, besides the Huo family's influence, were Xuan Yuanqi. However, Scarface had once said that the Xuan Yuan Gang's influence was mainly domestic, with little impact abroad.

It continued until evening.

In a moment of clarity, Ling Ruoke suddenly remembered what Scarface had once said—wherever you can name a place, there is the influence of the Sky Wolf Gang!

Yes, the Sirius Gang!

So, if the Sirius Gang is willing to help her, will she be able to go to Country X to find Qingfeng?

Ling Ruoke clenched her fist tightly and immediately opened her computer to book the next flight to T City. There was a flight at around midnight, and she placed the order right away.

Then I opened Baidu Maps, searched for the location of Hell on Earth, and recorded the relevant information.

After shutting down her computer, Ling Ruoke grabbed her clothes and rushed into the bathroom to take a cold shower. She wanted to clear her head.

Pei Shi hasn't returned yet; she left Pei Shi a letter.

After getting everything ready, she grabbed her wallet, a change of clothes, and her phone, and went out. Downstairs, the car and the person were still waiting.

"I'm going to the airport." Ling Ruoke opened the door and sat down.

The man glanced at her, then took out his phone and called Cang Weiwo. She didn't know what was said on the other end, only that he answered yes.

On the way to the airport, Ling Ruoke wasn't as nervous as she had been when she returned from City A. She wasn't even worried, because she was prepared to go all in.

The night outside the window was deep, with lights twinkling.

Ling Ruoke's face was expressionless, but resolute. Those who knew her well would know that this was somewhat different from her usual self.

Qingfeng, you wait, I will definitely find you!

The car arrived at the airport, with two hours until boarding. When Ling Ruoke was checking in, she noticed the person who had been following her also needed to check in. She had no idea when he had booked his plane ticket. Then she laughed, "Cang Wei, buying a plane ticket is easy enough, isn't it?"

Ling Ruoke passed through security and waited quietly in the departure lounge. Even she was surprised at how calm and composed she was.

The plane arrived and took off on time in the early morning.

Ling Ruoke closed her eyes and fell asleep the moment the plane took off. She had been too tired lately and needed a good rest. Only with plenty of energy could she get things done!

The plane landed in T city at 3 a.m. In the early morning, T city was swept by strong winds and billowing dark clouds; a storm was imminent.

They exited the airport and hailed a taxi. When giving the address, Ling Ruoke didn't directly name it "Hell on Earth." She had found online that there was a Bank of China branch next to "Hell on Earth," so she gave that bank's address.

In the early morning, the roads from the airport to the city were clear. The taxi sped along, almost taking off.

However, Ling Ruoke's heart was racing even faster; she couldn't wait to see the man called Wild Wolf. She knew what awaited her ahead, but there was no way back, and she didn't want to turn back.

During the journey, Ling Ruoke got out of the car and bought a bottle of beer, gulping down half of it.

The car finally came to a screeching stop.

Ling Ruoke got out of the car and went to the bank to withdraw some money. After leaving the bank, she pointed to the 24-hour convenience store across the street and said to the person there, "I'm a little hungry. Could you please buy me something to eat at the convenience store? I'd like some Yoyo milk tea and a bread roll."

The man looked at her, but didn't move.

Outside, a fierce storm raged with thunder and lightning.

Ling Ruoke snapped, "Then get moving! I didn't eat the airplane food, and I'm starving. If you don't want to go, I'll go by myself."

The man looked her over for a while, found nothing wrong with her, and then left.

Ling Ruoke squatted down on the spot, watching the person enter the convenience store, turning back to look at her every step. Then she took off running, rushing headlong into the gates of hell on earth.

The person noticed and immediately gave chase, but the Bank of China was right next to Hell on Earth, and she had already rushed to the door.

Not just anyone can enter a living hell, so it was no surprise that she was stopped.

Ling Ruoke didn't struggle. She took a step back, raised the bottle in her hand, and smashed it hard against her head. As her vision blurred with the liquid, she looked at the two guards and said:

"I want to see the wild wolf."
