Chapter 218 Ling Ruoke, You Killed Him (Part 1)

As Ling Ruoke watched the man in black approach, she wondered whether he was after the Zhuang family or her.

"Young Madam, is this someone you know?" the driver turned around and asked her.

Ling Ruoke shook her head. Although it was dark, she could still tell that the person wasn't someone she knew. She was trying to figure out what to do; she couldn't just stay there forever, when her phone rang.

"Baby, come and have some tea with me." Wild Wolf's voice was as lazy and roguish as ever.

Ling Ruoke paused for a moment, looked at the person outside the car, and asked, "Did you send that person in black to pick me up?"

"That's right. Don't worry, no one dares to touch my darling on my turf." Wild Wolf's voice always reassured people, perhaps because the immense power behind him inspired unconditional trust.

Ling Ruoke held her phone, troubled. That guy Wild Wolf definitely wasn't just inviting her for tea; but would it be convenient to bring Zhuang Yuqi along? "I brought a little kid along, is that alright?"

"Baby, don't you know how big our house is?" the wolf's voice was mournful.

Ling Ruoke couldn't help but smile and hung up the phone. "You go back first, that car is here to pick me up. Zhuang Yuqi, get out of the car."

Zhuang Yuqi was initially worried that his mother would leave him alone again, but upon hearing that he could go along, he was overjoyed and immediately pushed open the door to go downstairs. Turning back, he reached out to help Ling Ruoke. "Mom, be careful."

The man in black led them to the car, opened the back door, and let them in.

As soon as Ling Ruoke and Zhuang Yuqi settled in, the car sped away.

Ling Ruo knew that this place was quite far from the wolf's lair. She was tired and sleepy, so she simply leaned back in her seat, closed her eyes, and fell asleep in no time.

Zhuang Yuqi, who hadn't fully recovered, snuggled up to her and slept soundly like a little pig, snoring away.

The two people, one older and one younger, slept right outside the old house. If someone hadn't knocked on the car door, they probably would have slept until dawn. Rubbing their eyes, their sleepy and drowsy appearance made them look quite like a mother and child.

Wild Wolf and Mo Ran came out and saw that they had the same movements, the same expressions, and the same dreamy eyes, and they immediately laughed.

"Baby," the wolf whispered in her ear.

Ling Ruoke was startled and glared at him. "What are you yelling about? I'm not deaf." As she spoke, she covered her mouth and yawned, tears welling up in her eyes.

Wild Wolf was hurt, but still said with a roguish grin, "Wife, wasn't that Blade guy too much of a beast, demanding everything every night? I'll take care of him for you!"

Ling Ruoke was speechless. "I'm so tired and sleepy, let me sleep first. Don't you know pregnant women need to go to bed early?"

So, Ling Ruoke was taken to the room, took a shower, and went to bed. Almost the instant she lay down, she drifted off to sleep.

Zhuang Yuqi also snuggled up on her bed, sleeping like a little pig.

The wolf was depressed. He felt his presence had diminished, and his darling was completely ignoring him. He maliciously considered taking revenge, but ultimately, considering she was pregnant, he decided to be magnanimous and let her go for the time being.

Ling Ruo was truly exhausted and slept incredibly soundly. She slept until dawn without even a dream. The next day, she sat up feeling refreshed. Stretching, she saw the little pig beside her still snoring, clearly showing no signs of waking.

Looking outside, it should still be early. After getting up and washing up, I went downstairs. I declined Shang Que's suggestion to eat breakfast immediately and went out, figuring I'd run into Mo Ran who was exercising.

Sure enough, after walking for a short while, she ran into Mo Ran jogging. When she got to her side, Mo Ran stopped, smiled slightly, and asked, "It's a pity you're pregnant. I really enjoy exercising with you; we can even spar."

"Then you'll have to wait a while," Ling Ruoke said with a smile, rubbing her belly with one hand.

"Did you sleep well last night?" Mo Ran asked, reaching out to touch her belly. Just then, the little one woke up and greeted the beautiful woman warmly. Mo Ran found it amazing; it was the first time she'd felt fetal movement, and she curiously touched it around. Her expression was both surprised and amused, completely unlike her usual aloof demeanor.

Looking at the expression on her face, Ling Ruoke thought to herself, "Children are indeed the most beautiful gift in the world. Even the most cold-hearted person will soften upon seeing a child. Of course, those who are utterly devoid of conscience and as hard as stone are exceptions."

"You like it?" Ling Ruoke asked with a smile. Wild Wolf wasn't young anymore; it was about time he had a child. It seemed he and Mo Ran were quite happy. If they had a child to add to and pass on that happiness, that would be even better.

Mo Ran nodded, a faint smile on her face. She glanced at Ruo Ke, then continued touching her, just like a child finding a fun game.

Ling Ruoke chuckled. Why did everyone seem to enjoy playing this game with her baby? "Then have one with that big bad wolf. Your child will surely be an exceptional individual." She just hoped the child wouldn't inherit their coldness and even amplify it, otherwise, they might really give birth to a block of ice.

Mo Ran stopped, stroked his chin, and looked into the distance, seemingly deep in thought. After a while, he looked at her, nodded seriously, and said, "That's a good idea."

Ling Ruoke almost burst out laughing. They were talking about having a baby, not doing business! "Then hurry up and make one so you can send me the good news."

Mo Ran nodded seriously, then touched her belly and asked, "Is it hard? Does it hurt when she kicks you like that?" Mo Ran was still very interested. She had finally discovered something new, and she was always very interested in new things.

"It doesn't hurt. That feeling... I don't know how to describe it, I can only say it's very subtle and magical. If you haven't experienced it, you can never imagine how magical it is. So, hurry up and get pregnant yourself to experience it for yourself." No matter how much others talk about the feeling of pregnancy, it's just hearsay and can't become a personal experience.

Mo Ran was seriously considering her suggestion. She stroked her chin, her eyes darting around.

Ling Ruoke thought to herself, "Is she trying to persuade Wild Wolf?" "Haven't you two thought about having a child yet? Big Bad Wolf isn't young anymore, you should start thinking about it. Having a child is really wonderful, talk to him."

"It's fine. If he doesn't agree, I'll just force myself on him." Mo Ran waved her hand dismissively, not caring about the issue at all. This wasn't what she was seriously thinking about.

Ling Ruoke almost choked on her saliva. This was the classic case of "silent until the moment of truth," right? Mo Ran usually didn't talk much, but when she did, it was so explosive. She couldn't imagine little Mo Ran pushing the big bad wolf onto the bed and then pouncing on him and biting him—it was too intense!

She didn't answer, and Mo Ran didn't care, because she was seriously considering an important issue.

"Don't just stand there. I can't run. Why don't you walk with me?" Ling Ruoke asked with a smile as she breathed in the fresh air.

Mo Ran raised an eyebrow. "Okay."

So, the two women, with completely opposite personalities, took a walk on the road in the early morning. They didn't talk much, but the atmosphere was harmonious, creating a sense of unspoken understanding.

When Ling Ruoke and Mo Ran returned from their walk, Wild Wolf was already up. He was wearing a bathrobe, leaning back on the sofa. His languid posture and lazy demeanor made him look like a lurking wolf.

Ling Ruoke watched him recline and sit, exuding a fatal charm that was neither effeminate nor truly bewitching. Especially his slightly narrowed eyes, which made it impossible to see what was inside, yet added a touch of elegance and danger.

"Baby, I thought you were ungrateful and wouldn't take responsibility, so you used me and then secretly ran back to Z City." Wild Wolf's expression changed, turning into a roguish grin.

Ling Ruoke sighed, rubbing her forehead. This person just loved to ruin his image. "Don't make it sound like I took advantage of you last night. You're not some virgin, and I'm not a womanizer."

"My darling," the wolf cried, his eyes brimming with tears. His eyes weren't big; if they were any bigger, he'd really resemble Little Red Riding Hood.

Ling Ruoke couldn't help but spit it out.

Mo Ran glanced at him indifferently and went back to her room to change and take a shower. Clearly, she was already indifferent to this man's various unsavory behaviors.

Ling Ruoke watched Mo Ran disappear from sight, then smiled at Wild Wolf and asked, "Big bad wolf, Mo Ran is angry. You're in trouble. You'll probably have to sleep on the floor tonight. You'd better watch out."

The wolf pursed his lips. "Baby, don't you know I've always had my own bed? But, if you want to share a bed with me, I'm willing."

"No thanks. You're too conspicuous. If you were around, I wouldn't be able to eat or sleep properly." Ling Ruoke thought to herself, this guy really puts on a show in front of others, but once he gets home, his image completely disappears. This is his good fortune; he still has someone and a place where he can let down his guard. In today's society, almost everyone lives behind a mask. Those who have a place and someone where they can safely take off their masks are truly blessed.

The wolf felt even more aggrieved, so much so that it cried. "Baby, you despise me."

Ling Ruoke thought to herself, thank goodness I didn't pout, otherwise it would have been a real disaster. "Stop fooling around. You had someone pick me up, is there something you want to tell me?"

The wolf's eyes widened in surprise. "My darling," it said, "were we communicating telepathically the whole time?"

Ling Ruoke grabbed a cushion from the sofa and threw it at him. However, because of her pregnant belly, she missed, but it did cause a throbbing sensation in her abdomen. She then placed her hand on her abdomen and gently stroked it.

The wolf's gaze fell on her high, protruding belly, watching silently. The roguish look on his face was gone; he seemed focused on her stomach, or perhaps he was thinking about something.

"You like children?" Ling Ruoke looked at her belly, then looked up and asked.

The wolf curled its lip. "I don't like it! Too much trouble!"

Ling Ruoke didn't explain the benefits of having children to him, and he probably already knew them. As for whether he wanted to have one, that was Mo Ran's problem to solve; she didn't need to interfere. "Just say what you have to say. I'm going to see Yuan Meng and Fu An later, and then I'll go back to Z City."

The wolf didn't say a word, turned and went upstairs. He came down a moment later with a small bottle in his hand and handed it to her.

Ling Ruoke took the bottle; it was a small, flat glass jar. Inside were two capsules, similar to those in regular cold medicine. She shook it, then asked, somewhat puzzled, "What is this? Laozi's elixir?"

"A miraculous medicine that can bring the dead back to life. If necessary, take one. Remember, take it!" His expression was unusually serious.

Ling Ruoke didn't say anything, and put the bottle in her pocket. The bottle was small and flat, making it easy to carry. "Big bad wolf, thank you, you're so kind to me!"

"How about you repay me with your body?" Wild Wolf immediately reverted to his bullying and thuggish demeanor, leaning closer with a lewd grin that was incredibly irritating.

Ling Ruoke picked up another pillow and smashed it against the face in front of her. "Mo Ran and I are best friends, and I would never do something like sisters sharing a husband."

"When did I become someone else's husband? How come I didn't know? Did I lose my memory?" Wild Wolf stared wide-eyed in surprise, then placed his hand on Ling Ruoke's stomach.

"I refuse to answer that question." Ling Ruoke subconsciously shrank back, but didn't push his hand away. Then she realized with some helplessness that the baby in her belly was really lively, greeting everyone it saw enthusiastically.

A certain emotion flashed across the wolf's eyes, but quickly disappeared without a trace.

Ling Ruoke saw it. She suddenly thought that perhaps the wolf had also had children. She didn't ask, nor did she continue to think about it. "Why don't we wait until the child is born and have him recognize you as his godfather? His father is in the legitimate world, and you're in the underworld. A legitimate father and an underworld godfather, how impressive would that be?"

The wolf snapped out of his daze and curled his lip again. "I'm so young and already being called 'godfather,' what a loss for me!"

Ling Ruoke giggled. Then, Mo Ran came down.

Shang Que had already prepared a sumptuous breakfast.

So the three of them moved to the dining room and began to have breakfast.

"Mom! Mom!" Zhuang Yuqi rushed downstairs like a madman, shouting and almost crying. He was terrified when he woke up to this unfamiliar environment and couldn't see his mother.

Ling Ruoke felt a little helpless; this child was really clingy to her. "Zhuang Yuqi, I'm here."

Zhuang Yuqi rushed in and, seeing Ling Ruoke, relaxed completely. He rushed over and snuggled into Ling Ruoke's arms. "Mom. I thought you left alone."

"It's alright. Go wash your face and brush your teeth, then come and have breakfast." Ling Ruoke ruffled his hair and said gently.

Zhuang Yuqi felt relieved knowing her mother was there. She obediently followed Shang Que to brush her teeth and wash her face.

The wolf's eyes darted around, and he said, "Baby, other people have students all over the world, but you have offspring all over the world, right? I feel like everyone calls you 'Mom'."

Ling Ruoke paused for a moment, then laughed. It was funny, really; Zhuang Yuqi and Fu'an both called her "Mom," but neither of them were her children. Perhaps it was because of her gentle nature that she was so popular with children. "You used the wrong words. If others heard that, they'd think I was some kind of promiscuous woman, wouldn't they, Mo Ran?"

"His choice of words is inappropriate." Mo Ran glanced at Wild Wolf indifferently and criticized him mercilessly.

So the two started arguing. Although their words were cold and aggressive, it was definitely arguing.

Ling Ruoke thoroughly enjoyed watching the show, and ate a very good breakfast, even more than usual. Indeed, life shouldn't be too boring; sometimes it's good to watch a show.

After breakfast and staying a while longer, Ling Ruoke and Zhuang Yuqi were about to leave. She had to hurry back to Z City, otherwise the colonel would be unhappy.

“Baby, don’t forget what I said.” The wolf reached out and touched her belly again.

Ling Ruoke smiled and nodded. "Big bad wolf, you better take good care of yourself. Also, have a baby with Mo Ran soon, that would be wonderful!" After saying that, she got into the car without waiting for his reply.

The car took them directly to the gate of Yuan Meng's residential compound. Since it was Saturday, they figured Yuan Meng would be home.

Once downstairs, Ling Ruoke registered and then led Zhuang Yuqi to Yuan Meng's apartment. She knocked, and when asked "Who is it?", she didn't answer. She winked and giggled at Zhuang Yuqi, wanting to surprise Yuan Meng.

A moment later, the door opened, and Yuan Meng peeked out and looked around.

"Surprise!" Ling Ruoke popped up and exclaimed. She was heavily pregnant and couldn't hop like a rabbit, so only her voice could be heard.

Yuan Meng paused for a moment, then smiled with delight. "Ruo Ke, what brings you here?" Then she saw Zhuang Yuqi beside her. "Yuqi's here too. You came all this way without even saying hello. What would I have done if I left? Come on in."

Yuan Meng pushed the door open a little to let them in. Then she turned and called out to the little boy who was playing enthusiastically in the room, "Fu'an, look who's here?"

Huo Fu'an then looked up and, seeing Ruo Ke appear, darted out like a little monkey and pounced on her. "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" he repeated like a broken record.

Ling Ruoke quickly bent down and grabbed his small body with both hands. The child had grown taller and heavier now, and she couldn't lift him up with her arms straight. And with her big belly, she didn't dare hold him like usual, afraid he would kick her.

Ling Ruoke kissed his little face and then let him smear his saliva all over her face.

Huo Fu'an darted over to Zhuang Yuqi, looked up at him, and called out "Brother!" in a clear, bright voice. The two of them could play together, even though they were more than two years apart.

Ling Ruoke looked at Fu'an with some emotion. This little guy is almost ready to start elementary school. She remembered the first time she saw him; he was still so young and adorable.

"Time flies! When I first met Fu'an, he was just a tiny little boy. That day, Peishi and I were eating at Nuanting Pavilion. There was a crossroads outside with a traffic light. We saw a very imposing Hummer, and then we saw a chubby little boy peering out the window. Then, as if he had seen something important, he started banging on the window and wanted to get out. His grandma opened the door, and he jumped out and dashed across the road. We were terrified, but luckily the light hadn't turned red yet."

I patted the little guy's head and reminisced about the past.

"I was wondering who he was looking for when he suddenly jumped into my arms and called me Mommy. I was so scared. My mother-in-law didn't know at the time and kept trying to explain to him that I wasn't his mother. He cried and said that his grandmother was a bad person. At that time, everyone thought that I looked like his mother, so he had mistaken me for someone else. Later, we found out that Qingfeng had given him a photo of me, and he looked at it every day and remembered what I looked like."
