Chapter 9 You Are My Mommy (Part 2)

Ling Ruoke looked at the child's grandmother, unsure of what to do. For some reason, the child seemed to have already decided that she was his mother.

The child's grandmother's kind face also showed apology, and she smiled at Ruoke.

"Hello, my surname is Yang, and I am this child's grandmother."

Ling Ruoke returned the smile. "Hello, Aunt Yang! My surname is Ling. This is my friend, her surname is Tan."

"Hello. I'm so sorry. Xiao Fu'an lost his mother when he was young, so—"

Before she could finish speaking, Xiao Fu'an shouted, "Grandma is talking nonsense! Xiao Fu'an has a mommy, and this is Xiao Fu'an's mommy!"

The little boy's cheeks were puffed out, giving off a "I'll get angry if you keep talking nonsense" vibe. His chubby little face and serious expression made him even cuter the more you looked at him.

If you could touch his chubby cheeks, you'd understand: this child probably grew up without a mother and misses her terribly. But you don't know why he thinks you are his mother.

"Xiao Fu'an, listen to Grandma, let's go find your father. Your sister really isn't your mother." Yang Ziyun reached out and took the child's hand. It was rather embarrassing for such a young girl to be called "mother."

"No!" Xiao Fu'an retorted loudly, tears streaming down his face. He clutched Ruo Ke's clothes, sobbing pitifully, and complained, "Grandma is a bad person! She won't let Xiao Fu'an see Mommy!"

"Oh dear, you child, how could you..." Yang Ziyun had no choice but to look at Ruoke apologetically.

"I'm so sorry. The child misses his mother so much, so..."

Ling Ruoke smiled and shook her head. She figured this child was pitiful; perhaps he had never even seen his mother. Thinking this, she felt sorry for him and naturally felt less awkward. Instead, she reached out and pulled the child onto her lap, wiping away his tears.

"Aunt Yang, are you in a hurry? If not, why don't you sit down and eat something to calm the child down? Maybe then everything will be fine."

Ling Ruoke smiled and offered her suggestion.

Yang Ziyun looked at the little Fu'an in her arms, sniffling and staring at her warily with his big eyes, and had no choice but to accept her suggestion.

"Alright."

Ling Ruoke wiped away the little boy's tears, then looked down and asked him, "The cakes here are delicious, do you want some?"

"Yes!" The little child immediately smiled, his big eyes crinkling with laughter.

Ling Ruoke naturally couldn't let the child eat what she left over, so she put the child on a stool. "Then I'll go buy a cake, you wait here obediently."

Ling Ruoke had only taken two steps when someone tugged at her pants. Looking down, she saw the little boy holding onto her pant leg, looking up at her with wide, blinking eyes. Clearly, he was afraid she would run away.

Ling Ruoke's heart softened immediately. She took the child's hand and led him to queue for things. The child smiled happily, striding with great effort and a touch of pride.

Looking at this harmonious and heartwarming scene, Tan Peishi turned to ask Yang Ziyun in front of her.

"Aunt Yang, doesn't Xiao Fu'an's mother look a lot like my friend?"

Otherwise, how could this child have taken a liking to Ruoke on the other side of the road, or even while he was in the car? Judging from his demeanor, he seemed convinced that Ruoke was his mother.

Yang Ziyun shook her head, equally puzzled. "No. Xiao Fu'an has never seen his mother, not even a photograph. He's never considered anyone his mother before, I don't know why."

Tan Peishi raised an eyebrow. "Perhaps, this is fate."

Finally, it was their turn at the counter, with one adult and one child in line.

"Come on, see which one you like to eat?" Ruo Ke bent down and picked him up, showing him the items on the list.

"This, this, this..."

Ruoke was immediately amused by him; it turned out this little guy wanted to buy everything in the store. So she took it upon herself to pick out three cakes for him, along with a glass of milk and a cup of milk tea.

Back in your seat, you can place him next to you.

The little guy still had his cheeks puffed out when he saw his grandma, as if he was still holding a grudge. His adorable appearance made all three adults laugh.

When the cake was served, Ruoke gave the milk tea to Yang Ziyun and then placed a piece of cake in front of her. Then she placed a piece of cake in front of Xiao Fu'an, gave the little guy a spoon, and patted his head.

After doing all this, Ruoke had just picked up her milk tea and taken a sip when someone tugged at her sleeve.

"Mommy!" The little guy looked at her and handed her a spoon.

Ruo Ke paused for a moment before realizing that the little guy wanted her to feed him.

"Little Fu'an, you can't do that. Be good and eat by yourself."

Yang Ziyun took the spoon from Ruoke's hand and put it back into Xiao Fu'an's hand. What's wrong with this child? He usually eats by himself at home, but now he needs to be fed!

Little Fu'an pouted, wriggling his body in a spoiled and tantrum-like manner. "No! Mommy feed me, I want Mommy to feed me!"

Finally, having no other choice, Yang Ziyun had to agree.

Ling Ruoke then took small spoonfuls of cake and fed them to his mouth. Only after he had chewed and swallowed did she dare to give him a second bite. Every now and then, she would take a tissue to wipe the corners of his mouth.

To an uninformed person, this scene simply appears as a young mother caring for her child, a heartwarming and touching moment.

Tan Peishi, resting her chin on her hand, watched her friend intently feeding the baby, her eyes shining. Ruoke was radiating such maternal glow! Perhaps she could suggest to the captain that he quickly "eat" Ruoke and get her pregnant; then there probably wouldn't be any problems.

So she leaned closer, getting right up to Ruoke.

"What's wrong?" Ruoke looked at her, puzzled.

“I’ve noticed that you’re radiating light right now. Do you know what that is? It’s the glow of motherhood!”

Ling Ruoke blushed instantly and glared at her. "What nonsense are you talking about!"

Yang Ziyun smiled and said, "I also think that Miss Ling, you must be a good mother."

For some reason, Xiao Fu'an seemed to understand what they were saying. He looked at Ruo Ke with his big eyes and nodded earnestly. "Yes, Mommy is the best!"

Immediately, the three adults were amused by his adorable little face and burst into laughter again.

The pastries at Nuanting Pavilion are all small and delicate; a piece of cake isn't much, but it's enough for a three-year-old. So after feeding him a piece of cake, Ruoke gave him a few sips of milk, and the little guy's tummy was already bulging.

"Alright, Xiao Fu'an, we should go." Even if they weren't in a hurry, the two girls couldn't stay here with them forever.

The little one grabbed Ruoke's water bottle, blinked his big eyes, and Grandma said, "Mommy, Daddy, let's go find Daddy."

Ling Ruoke liked the child very much. It was fate that the child mistook her for her. She reached out and touched his little face, and even kissed his forehead.

"Little Fu'an, be a good boy/girl. You go with Grandma... Mommy has something important to do. We'll go find Little Fu'an and Daddy when we're done, okay?"

The little child looked at her, his big eyes unusually bright, and stretched out his little hand. "Pinky promise."

Ling Ruoke felt terrible about deceiving a child. But she still reached out and hooked her hand around his little finger.

"Pinky promise, hang yourself, for a hundred years, no take-backs!"

The child was taken away by his grandmother. He sat in the car and kept waving at them.

Watching the car start and drive away, Ling Ruoke almost cried.

Perhaps it was because she felt guilty for deceiving him. Or perhaps it was out of pity for him, who had lost his mother at such a young age.

"Alright, Ruoke, like you said, if you like children so much, hurry up and have one yourself. Judging from the captain's expression, he'll definitely get it on the first try, so don't worry!"

Ling Ruoke's sadness vanished instantly, and she reached out to pinch her.

"I'll teach you a lesson you little brat will never talk nonsense again!"
