Chapter 157 Marriage 1

The call was from Xia Mo; I wanted to report something to her.

After hanging up the phone, Ling Ruoke felt she shouldn't waste the whole day on the sofa. "How about we go out for a walk? Staying cooped up at home all day, won't it be too boring?"

Huo Qingfeng pulled her back and kissed her several times. "As long as I'm with my wife, I won't be bored even if I stay at home for a year."

Ling Ruoke giggled, raising her hand to stroke the stubble on his chin. "You've got candy on your lips. But don't you want to go out and do something more meaningful?"

"What's more meaningful?" Huo Qingfeng raised an eyebrow, playing with her hair. Finally, her hair was flowing again, though it wasn't very long yet.

Ling Ruoke thought seriously for a while, then shrugged. "Actually, I don't know either." It's really hard to think of something sweet and meaningful for the two of them together. They can't exactly volunteer at an orphanage or nursing home, can they?

Huo Qingfeng chuckled softly, pinching her little nose helplessly. "Then why were you so enthusiastic about making suggestions? I thought you already had plans."

Ling Ruoke glared at him, clearly displeased; the colonel was obviously gloating. "So, do you have a problem with that now?"

"No, absolutely not!" Even if he did, he wouldn't dare say it. After all, he dotes on his wife the most; he can't do anything that upsets her, and he can't have any thoughts she dislikes!

Ling Ruoke reached out and pulled at his cheeks, stretching them until they were distorted before she felt relieved. "You're smart." She let go, looking at him with alluring eyes. "Seriously, think about doing something."

Huo Qingfeng's eyes darted around, and he lowered his head with a grin, asking, "Does doing what we love count?"

Ling Ruoke pinched him hard. This guy is always driven by lust, doesn't he care about dying from exhaustion? "Be serious, or I'll get angry."

Huo Qingfeng blinked, not saying that he thought this was the most meaningful thing. If they could make a little steamed bun, that would be even more meaningful. The idea immediately sparked a light in his eyes. "I've got it! This is absolutely meaningful, incredibly meaningful!"

"What?" Hearing his very certain tone, Ling Ruoke became interested and hurriedly climbed out of his arms, tugging at his clothes and asking, "What is it? Tell me quickly!"

Looking into her bright, sparkling eyes, Huo Qingfeng lowered his head and gave her a long, deep kiss, releasing her only when she was breathless. Their foreheads touched, and he said in a low, husky voice, "Let's go get our marriage certificate. My marriage application has been approved."

Ling Ruoke suddenly opened her eyes and asked in surprise, "Really?"

Huo Qingfeng felt a wave of tenderness wash over him at her expression. "Wife, the way you look makes me think you really want to marry me."

"I really want to marry you," Ling Ruoke blinked and answered with a smile. Although still a little shy, she looked directly into his eyes as she answered. "Don't you want to marry me?"

"Of course I want to, I've wanted to for years." He looked into her captivating eyes and answered earnestly. Then he lifted her down and placed her on the sofa. He stood up, knelt on one knee, and took her hand. "Wife, will you marry me?"

Ling Ruoke chuckled. "Your question is grammatically incorrect. You're already calling her 'wife,' why would you need to ask that question?"

"So, are you going to marry me or not?" He put on an expression that said, "Try saying you won't marry me and see what happens."

Ling Ruoke nodded seriously. "I'll marry you." Even though it was a joke, she didn't want to refuse his proposal. This person was the one she would protect and cherish for the rest of her life; she was willing to entrust her entire life to him.

"Wife, you're so good to me! I must be the luckiest man in the world." Huo Qingfeng reached out and pressed the back of her head, then pressed her lips to his and kissed her.

Ling Ruoke looked at him with a smile, their eyes filled with deep affection. "Then you can't bully me in the future, you have to cherish me for the rest of your life."

"Alright. I may betray everyone else in the world, but I will never betray you." He solemnly and earnestly made this lifelong promise.

Ling Ruoke looked at him, then smiled and tears streamed down her face. She laughed and cried at the same time, like a silly child, but it was her truest feeling.

Huo Qingfeng smiled, stood up, and pulled her up, drawing her into his arms. No matter how time changes, no matter how the world changes, this person is someone he will cherish and protect.

They embraced quietly for a moment, then he released her and took her shoes. He knelt down again and put them on for her. "Wait here for me, I'll go get my documents."

“Okay.” Ling Ruoke watched him stride up the stairs, then looked down at her shoes. It’s not easy to get a man to kneel down and put your shoes on, is it? Her colonel did it for her without hesitation, not even a hint of unease.

They had already consummated their marriage, proposed in front of the entire nation, and taken wedding photos. Today, they are finally officially married.

Her feelings were somewhat complicated, but her joy was undeniable. This was the man she loved, the marriage she had longed for.

I hope to get our marriage certificate smoothly, tie myself to this best man, and never let go for the rest of my life!

Huo Qingfeng quickly grabbed his things, jumped down, and hopped in front of his wife.

He bent down and scooped her up in his arms. "Let's go, let's get married!" He lowered his head, kissed her lips, and then strode out of the house.

Ling Ruoke wrapped her arms around his neck, giggling. Her smile was radiant and captivating.

After passing through two doors, Huo Qingfeng placed her in the passenger seat of the Hummer. He leaned over and kissed her before turning over and getting into the driver's seat.

Ling Ruoke leaned back lazily in her seat, watching her colonel smile faintly. Soon, their lives would be officially intertwined, and neither of them could separate them.

Huo Qingfeng focused on driving, occasionally turning his head to look at his wife with a doting smile.

The car pulled up and stopped somewhere on the street. "Wait for me in the car," the colonel ordered, then jumped out and rushed into a shop not far away.

A moment later, he came out carrying a red bag and put the things on the back seat. The bag was quite thick, and you couldn't see what was inside.

"What did you buy?" Ling Ruoke asked curiously, because she couldn't see the store's name or the items in the window because of where she parked the car.

As Huo Qingfeng reversed the car, he winked mischievously at her. "You'll find out soon enough."

The car turned around and headed towards the Civil Affairs Bureau. It was a short journey, only a few minutes.

There weren't many people at the Civil Affairs Bureau; at least there wasn't a long queue. Ling Ruoke had heard that marriage registration required appointments on holidays like Valentine's Day or Qixi Festival. They didn't care about holidays or even the almanac; they just came straight there.

Huo Qingfeng got out of the car, locked it, and held out his hand to her. "Come on, baby."

Ling Ruoke smiled and placed her hand in his palm, watching him tighten his grip. Then he led her into the Civil Affairs Bureau.

First, they received the forms to fill out, and the two sat down to fill them out. There was a template for the forms, which they could copy. However, there was only one template, so they were writing with their heads practically touching. As they wrote, they looked at each other and grinned.

Ling Ruoke thought to herself, "The people at the Civil Affairs Bureau must have deliberately only given us one template!" She wondered if they had secretly installed cameras to film their sweet moments.

Then you go for a physical exam, blood test, photo, and pay the fees.

When they went to register their marriage, the staff's routine questions almost made Ling Ruoke burst out laughing. But she dared not laugh and had to desperately hold it in. The questions were as follows:

"May I have your name?"

How long have you known him?

Do you love him?

Is this your first marriage?

Have you had children?

"Are you willing to spend your life with him?"

...

Moreover, these questions were asked in front of other people, making the person answering blush repeatedly, as if they were cooked. Especially the question of "love or not love" in public, which felt particularly unserious.

Huo Qingfeng, on the other hand, didn't seem to mind; he was thick-skinned. Besides, all he wanted was to marry his beautiful wife, and everything else was ignored. He just wanted to finish the paperwork quickly, get the marriage certificate, and avoid any unforeseen complications.

Just as the staff were making the marriage certificate, a commotion broke out outside the door. Someone shouted something like, "Ah, murder!" in a panicked voice.

As a soldier, Huo Qingfeng slipped away in a flash.

Ling Ruoke didn't care about anything else and ran out after them. A vague sense of unease lingered in her heart. That's why she had been watching the staff member's movements intently, wishing they could stamp and confirm it immediately.

When she finally saw the woman standing next to the hostage outside the door, she took deep breaths, overwhelmed by a murderous urge! Guzheng, why Guzheng again!

Gu Zheng brought more than a dozen people, one of whom kidnapped a girl who was also there to get married. Nearby, her boyfriend was being held tightly to prevent him from impulsively rushing forward.

Ling Ruoke couldn't help but wonder if Gu Zheng was leading this group of people to stake out Z City.

"What do you want?" Huo Qingfeng stopped not far from them, glanced at the kidnapped girl, and then fixed his gaze on Gu Zheng's face. His eyes held obvious anger and disgust.

The thought of having been with such a woman made Huo Qingfeng feel as if he had swallowed a fly! He must have been blind to have fallen for such a woman!

Gu Zheng raised her chin; even in high heels, she was still shorter than Huo Qingfeng. "If you dare marry her, I'll kill this man." Hearing her subordinate report that they had all arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau, Gu Zheng could no longer remain calm.

The implication was that she wanted to stop them from getting married!

This threat might not mean much to others, but it was most effective on Huo Qingfeng because he was a soldier. He didn't speak, just squinted at the guzheng.

Ling Ruoke walked over and stood beside him. "Guzheng, do you love this man, or is it because you're twisted and can't stand seeing others happy? Are you really that twisted?"

"You have no right to know what I'm thinking. In my eyes, you're just a cheap woman, a whore! No, you're nothing at all!" Gu Zheng's expression was contemptuous and sinister.

Unbeknownst to Gu Zheng, her words had inadvertently probed Huo Qingfeng's bottom line. Ling Ruoke had always been his bottom line, and he would not tolerate anyone's insolence.

Ling Ruoke did not refute, but looked at the colonel, her eyes conveying a message.

The two nodded to each other, and before they could react, Ling Ruoke had already taken Guzheng hostage. Huo Qingfeng swiftly dealt with the man who had taken the girl hostage and handed her to his boyfriend.

He glanced indifferently at the guzheng that Ruoke had kidnapped, took out his phone, and dialed the police.

"Huo Qingfeng, how dare you treat me like this!" Gu Zheng's face was contorted with anger as she shouted without regard for her image.

Huo Qingfeng walked over to the two of them, facing Gu Zheng. Suddenly, he raised his hand and slapped her twice. He didn't use his full strength, but he used about 30-40%. Gu Zheng's delicate face immediately turned purplish-red and slowly swelled up.

“I never hit women, but I hit you today. Because in my eyes, you are not a woman, not even a normal person. No matter how powerful your Gu family is, what right do you have to disregard other people's lives?”

"Huo Qingfeng, you will regret this, you will definitely regret this!"

Huo Qingfeng ignored Gu Zheng's shouts. He simply stood with his legs spread apart, watching the people Gu Zheng had brought. He appeared relaxed, but was actually very vigilant. If they dared to touch his woman, he would show no mercy!

The police station wasn't far away, and police cars quickly arrived with sirens blaring.

"Huo Qingfeng, if you dare to get married, you'll regret it!" Gu Zheng cursed as she was led away. Through the police car window, her eyes held an unprecedentedly sinister and violent glint, terrifying to behold.

Huo Qingfeng apologized to the kidnapped girl, then took Ling Ruoke's hand and walked back into the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Ling Ruoke was taken aback. She had been worried that the colonel would cancel the wedding plans for the safety of the hostages. Fortunately, he didn't disappoint her. She should have known that her colonel wouldn't let her down.

What Ling Ruoke didn't know was that Huo Qingfeng was even more eager than she was to tie the two of them together.

Others whispered amongst themselves, speculating about the possibilities of the incident, taking their gossip skills to the extreme. But many more looked at them with admiration, because their movements in the previous robbery were so swift, more impressive than anything in a police drama!

Huo Qingfeng and Ling Ruo didn't care about any of that. They watched as the staff processed their marriage certificate and handed it to them. At that moment, they both breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at each other. Their gazes seemed to see into each other's lifetimes.

They refused to take any oaths. Taking an oath in front of so many people—where's the solemnity and sanctity in that? It's more like a clown performance. So, let's just skip it.

"Wait for me." She turned and ran out.

Ling Ruoke watched his retreating figure, somewhat bewildered. But the marriage certificate was already issued; he couldn't run away. Thinking this, she chuckled to herself.

A short while later, Huo Qingfeng returned carrying the bag, which was quite large. He started handing out wedding candies to the staff, all of them Dove chocolates. A handful for each person, and everyone was very happy. After handing them out to everyone, he only kept two pieces for himself.

He walked up to Ling Ruoke, unwrapped the candy, and brought it to her lips. "Wife, have some wedding candy."

Ling Ruoke opened her mouth and put the candy in it, watching her colonel put the last piece in his own mouth, and couldn't help but smile, her eyes crinkling. How could her colonel be so adorable!

"Wife, let's go home." Hand in hand, they walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau.

The sky was clear and blue, and the sun shone brightly.

This is the weather, and it's also my mood.

Those unrelated people, and that little incident, have long been forgotten. In the world of lovers, there is only each other.

As they walked down the steps outside the Civil Affairs Bureau, the two people holding hands looked at each other and smiled foolishly.

Ling Ruoke smiled, glancing at his colonel, and said, "I'm married, I'm in a good mood, let me treat you to dinner."

"Great! I've just married my darling, so I'll treat you." He bent down, picked her up, tossed her in the air, caught her, and, laughing, put her in the car.

"Let's go see a movie first, and then go eat, okay?" Huo Qingfeng kissed her lips and started the car.

Ling Ruoke smiled sweetly, offering no objections. Being with this person, even sitting on a stone bench by the roadside all day would be joyful. "Okay."

The car stopped outside the movie theater. I glanced at the showtimes and saw that the movie playing was a horror film called "The Deserted Village Inn".

Ling Ruoke looked at the colonel with a half-smile. "What should we do?" Are we going to watch a horror movie to celebrate our wedding?

"Wife, you're in charge." Huo Qingfeng wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her lips. Cleverly, he tossed the ball back to his wife.

Ling Ruoke was at a loss for what to do. Looking at the time, it was only around five o'clock, more than an hour before dinner. "How about we try something special?" she said, unable to suppress a laugh.
