Ling Ruoke slept for nearly ten hours, and when she woke up it was already afternoon. She was alone in bed.
She opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling. After lying there for a while, she slowly sat up. She bent her legs and rested her chin on them. Looking down from the window, she could see far into the distance, at the bustling and vibrant city of T.
She stared blankly, without any particular thought.
The door behind me opened, and I heard soft footsteps.
She turned her head and saw Wild Wolf leaning against the door, legs crossed, holding a glass of wine. "Get up if you're awake. We'll be leaving soon."
Upon hearing this, Ling Ruoke immediately tried to climb off the bed. However, she got caught in the blanket and tumbled off the bed.
The wolf was successfully entertained.
Ling Ruoke blushed at the laughter and rushed into the bathroom, slamming the door shut.
Hearing bursts of cheerful laughter, the people outside the gate scratched their ears again, wondering if they had a problem with their ears lately and were having auditory hallucinations.
After Ling Ruoke finished washing up, she was asked to cook. So, she went into the kitchen again and made a meal that she didn't know whether to call lunch or dinner.
The wolf didn't say anything and ate heartily.
"Once we get there, do as I say, understand?"
Ling Ruoke paused for a moment, then nodded vigorously like a chicken pecking at rice. "I know."
"Besides smiling, keep all other expressions to yourself. Otherwise, I won't be responsible if anything goes wrong," he said, wiping his mouth.
Ling Ruoke nodded without saying anything.
Even as she sat on the plane bound for country X, she still felt like she was dreaming. She hadn't expected things to go so smoothly; the wolf had actually agreed to help her.
Last night there was a violent storm, but today the rain has stopped and the sky is clear and blue.
Ling Ruoke looked at the white clouds outside the plane window and saw the face she longed for reflected in them. Qingfeng, I believe you are still alive, you are still alive! Wait for me, I will find you!
Suddenly, a large hand reached out and turned her face back.
“Don’t think about other men around me, or I’ll get upset. When I’m upset, I usually do scary things,” he said with a smile.
Ling Ruoke knew he meant what he said. "Do you have any books? Could you give me one?" She would definitely think of that if she had nothing to do.
“Look at me, listen to what I’m about to say, if you don’t want to lose your life in that garbage country.” His expression suddenly turned serious.
Ling Ruo dared not disobey; her ears perked up like a cat's. Although she was prepared to die, if she could live, of course she would live!
"From the moment you step off the plane, you are my woman. Remember your place... If you see the person you're looking for, don't show any expression, especially not surprise. Those people love seeing others suffer, so if you're happy, they'll kill him."
"Huh?" Ling Ruoke exclaimed. "I forgot to show you the picture of the person I'm looking for. I—"
The wolf raised his hand and patted her face. "Don't make such a stupid face."
Ling Ruoke knew he knew who the target was. Her heart settled back down. Of course, the Sky Wolf Gang's information network was incredibly powerful; a simple check would reveal everything. "I'm sorry."
"Good girl, I like obedient women." He patted her face again and continued.
Ling Ruoke wasn't particularly nervous at first, but she became anxious after Wild Wolf explained the situation. She only managed to calm herself down after being glared at by Wild Wolf.
For the rest of the journey, the wolf kept its eyes closed and hardly spoke.
Ling Ruoke felt uncomfortable being held in his arms, but she didn't dare to break free for fear of upsetting him. Only when he seemed to have really fallen asleep and let go did she slowly sit up straight, half of her body numb.
Finally, the plane began its descent.
As they walked out of the airport, Wild Wolf's arm was locked around Ling Ruoke's waist.
Ling Ruoke looked up at him and was kissed by him. She was stunned for a moment, then smiled sweetly and snuggled against him. She gave off a charming and dependent vibe.
As they exited the airport, a group of people were waiting for them. Among them were Chinese people and people from country X.
Ling Ruoke didn't understand the language of country X, so she couldn't comprehend it. However, Wild Wolf had brought a translator. She maintained a sweet smile and leaned against Wild Wolf's side.
The wolf introduced her to the group. They then took turns holding her hand and kissing the back of it. After exchanging pleasantries, they got into the car.
In the same car as them, there was a person from country X. The translator was sitting in the passenger seat.
Ling Ruoke's smile almost froze.
The wolf reached out and pulled her into his arms, saying, "Tired? If you're tired, take a nap." He then kissed her forehead.
Ling Ruo knew he was trying to get her out of a tight spot. So she smiled at the Chinese man, buried her face in his chest, and closed her eyes.
Later, she overheard the man from country X speaking. The translator said he was asking them about their purpose this time.
Wild Wolf's reply contained some underworld slang, which she didn't quite understand. The gist of it was that he wanted to find some people from among the prisoners to do his bidding.
The car stopped very quickly.
The wolf kissed her, waking her up. "Baby, we're here."
The hotel was incredibly luxurious, resplendent in gold, leaving people speechless.
If Ling Ruoke hadn't been warned, she probably would have gasped in surprise. As she walked into the room, she became even more astonished.
Once inside the room, Wild Wolf urged her to go to sleep. "Go to bed and sleep for a while, sweetie." Then he had the translator explain things to the Chinese man.
Ling Ruoke nodded to the person and was led into the room. The presidential suite was more luxurious than she could have imagined. However, she was preoccupied with heavy matters and had no time to appreciate it.
The room attendant led her into the bathroom. She was stunned for a moment before realizing that she was to be served a bath. She wanted to refuse, but the words caught in her throat. Following their directions, she lay down in the bathtub filled with floating flower petals.
The man then began to wipe her body.
Ling Ruoke felt uncomfortable and thought it was strange, but she didn't dare to say anything. She could only close her eyes and force herself to enjoy it. Finally, she screamed in fright.
She was standing in the bathtub screaming in terror when the wolf rushed in. As soon as he appeared, she screamed again and flopped down onto the floor.
Wild Wolf couldn't help but chuckle and dragged the room service staff out. This was a top-tier hotel; room service included showers, massages, and even catering to personal needs. They were all highly trained and provided excellent service.
He forgot about that. Well, he does have a mischievous streak.
Ling Ruoke lay in the bathtub, still shaken. The thought of that person's actions just now filled her with dread!
She lay in the bathtub for a long time, and only after she had put on her bathrobe did she slowly and reluctantly come out.
The wolf was already in the room; it seemed that the man from country X had left.
Ling Ruoke stood at the bathroom door and glared at him fiercely.
The wolf laughed heartily, walked over, grabbed her, and pulled her towards the bed. "Alright, baby, don't be angry," he said, kissing her repeatedly.
Afterwards, the wolf went into the bathroom, took a shower, changed his clothes, and came out.
"Come on, baby, I'll show you some fun things to do." He put his arm around her and walked out of the suite. Outside, someone was already waiting.
It was already dark; it was time for nightlife.
A luxurious, extended Rolls-Royce was parked in a brightly lit, bustling area.
Ling Ruo didn't recognize those characters, nor did she bother to study them. She did whatever Wild Wolf told her to do. She didn't even ask him when he would go find people; she knew it wouldn't be that simple. This was no longer Chinese territory, and no matter how powerful Wild Wolf was, she couldn't force his way in.
Ling Ruoke was led into a room where three men from country X were already waiting. Each of them had a woman in their arms, and they were dressed provocatively.
Ling Ruoke leaned against the wolf with a slightly shy expression, her face flushed.
The people from country X looked at her, laughing and saying something unintelligible. Then she heard Wild Wolf reply in country X. Everyone else, except her, burst into laughter. Her face turned even redder.
The wolf smiled at her, pulled his arm back slightly, and kissed her.
Then the group started talking, whispering something, but Ling Ruoke couldn't understand a word. She kept telling herself to stay calm and composed.
After an unknown amount of time, they moved to a room that resembled a four-bedroom, one-living-room house. The rooms were just right for four couples. The walls were formed by individual trees connected together and covered in vines, which blocked the view from the outside but did nothing to block sound.
Ling Ruoke was a little nervous; she really wanted to ask what was going on. She saw three people from country X looking at them with knowing smiles before pushing open their doors and entering their respective rooms.
"Let's go, baby." The wolf put his arm around her and led her into their room.
As soon as the door closed, Ling Ruoke turned around and asked, "This—"
The wolf placed its finger to her lips, signaling her to be quiet.
Ling Ruoke's voice abruptly stopped. She stared at him, then Wild Wolf scooped her up and threw her onto the bed, immediately pressing down on her. The blanket was pulled up, covering both of them.
The wolf's lips brushed against her neck, close to her ear, and it whispered, "This is all for saving people, so cooperate."
Then he started kissing her, again and again, in a very passionate way.
Ling Ruoke stood frozen, already hearing a man's heavy breathing and a woman's moans coming from the next room. She wanted to ask, what did saving someone have to do with this kind of thing? Even if there was a connection, it should be considered doing someone a favor…
However, she dared not speak at this moment, because she couldn't be sure if the wolf was telling the truth. If it was true, what if things went wrong?
"Ah—" Ling Ruoke cried out in surprise, because the wolf's hand slipped inside her clothes and pinched her. "You—"
“Baby, don’t rush,” the wolf said hoarsely, then whispered in her ear, “Make a sound, like their women.”
Ling Ruoke froze, stunned. Hearing that sound made her blush; how could she possibly call out to him like that? She could only tightly hug his neck and whisper in his ear, "I won't."
The wolf propped himself up, looked down at her for a moment, and suddenly laughed. That laugh gave her a bad feeling. "I'll help you. You just need to follow your instincts, understand? If you want to find someone, just listen to me obediently, throw away your rationality, and follow your instincts, okay?"
Ling Ruoke didn't understand his words, but when he started to tease her senses, she was completely dumbfounded.
Her body stiffened like a wooden board, completely at a loss. Until the wolf pinched her again, giving her a warning look.
Ling Ruoke suddenly closed her eyes. Whether it was true or false, she would just take it as a reward for his willingness to help. She tried to clear her mind, and as her rationality gradually faded, her senses became more acute.
Her voice was raw and even somewhat suppressed, but it was exhilarating.
"Damn it!" Wild Wolf cursed inwardly, then put on his best performance. As the saying goes, if you want your partner to act well, you have to be a good actor yourself.
When she was hit for the first time, Ling Ruoke still screamed. Although it was frightening, she genuinely suspected that the wolf was deliberately tormenting her!
But that actually helped a lot.
"Very good, keep following your instincts." Wild Wolf's voice was already incredibly low and hoarse. He didn't give her a chance to regain her senses.
Ling Ruoke completely forgot who she was and what she was doing, immersing herself entirely in the role. Looking back, she was still astonished. She hadn't realized that even through clothing, one could be so sensitive. She wondered if she was too naive, or he was too experienced!
When the play was almost over, the wolf picked her up, swiftly slashed her with his knife, and knocked her unconscious.
Finally, when he carried Ling Ruoke out of the room, he was met with ambiguous smiles.
Ling Ruoke slept soundly until dawn the next day. She didn't have any more nightmares that night.
She had just opened her eyes when she saw the wolf getting dressed.
"Let's change our clothes, we're about to leave."
Upon hearing this, Ling Ruoke jumped out of bed and rushed inside. The prospect of receiving news of Qingfeng soon filled her with excitement but also nervousness. No matter what, as long as there was a chance to go find him, there was hope!
"Go for it!" Ling Ruoke gestured in front of the mirror.
As she stepped out the door, Wild Wolf's hand wrapped around her waist. Ling Ruoke's face instantly turned bright red; she finally remembered the intense "bed scene" from the previous night! Her face burned, as if it were on fire.
The wolf, of course, didn't miss it. He reached out and pinched her cheek, saying, "Why do you always appear so innocent yet alluring?"
Ling Ruoke secretly pinched him; if she hadn't been remembering something important, she would have kicked him.
They got into a vehicle and went to the first prisoner-of-war camp. The camp was indoors, similar to a prison, but much larger. It was crowded, making it difficult to find anyone. The people inside were old and young, men and women, but the men and women were separated into different cells; some were healthy, others were wounded.
Ling Ruoke couldn't bear to look at those people who were on the verge of death.
The wolf was afraid she would reveal her emotions, so whenever it was a crucial moment, he would turn to talk to her or kiss her to cover up her expression.
On the first day, they made no purchases. But to avoid suspicion, the wolf still bought a man, a strong Chinese man.
Back at the hotel that evening, Ling Ruoke sat by the window, lost in thought, not moving for a long time. Today's search had been a wake-up call, making her realize that things weren't as simple as she had thought.
The wolf didn't comfort her, seemingly believing she should accept reality. He sat on the sofa, wearing a bathrobe, leisurely sipping red wine.
Ling Ruoke couldn't sleep that night. The moonlight outside the window was cold and clear, and she just watched it all night. Due to lack of sleep, her head was throbbing.
The next day, they arrived at another prisoner-of-war camp, which was even larger than the one from the previous day.
Ling Ruoke stared intently at each prisoner with her dry eyes, afraid of missing anything, and barely dared to blink.
If it weren't for the wolf talking to her and teasing her from time to time, others would have noticed something was amiss long ago.
After another round, there was still no result.
Ling Ruoke was somewhat downcast. Although she was prepared for the possibility of returning empty-handed, preparation was just preparation; it didn't mean she had no expectations. Ultimately, her hopes still lingered. She even doubted whether she had the courage to face a bad outcome.
That evening, after taking a shower, Wild Wolf put his arm around her and said, "Come on, let's go play. Look how taut you are, like a bow."
"Can I not go?" Ling Ruoke was really scared of what happened that night and was reluctant to go out. So she looked at Wild Wolf expectantly, hoping he would nod.
The wolf smiled and nodded as she wished.
Ling Ruoke smiled, and the next second she heard him say, "Okay, I'll send someone to take you back to China. I'll travel around for a few days by myself before going back."
Ling Ruoke dared not say anything more. She had no choice but to bite the bullet and follow, while still maintaining a sweet smile.
This time, however, he didn't take her to those kinds of entertainment venues; instead, he took her to a foot massage parlor. She'd heard that foot massages help with sleep, and she suddenly understood his good intentions. During the massage, she actually did accidentally fall asleep.
When she was woken up, Ling Ruoke was still groggy. She was leaning against the wolf, completely being led by him. Even her eyes were closed.
The wolf had no choice but to bend down, pick her up, and put her in the car. She was too tense; that wasn't a good thing.
Ling Ruoke was disturbed, but she simply adjusted her body, found a comfortable position, and continued sleeping. Her little face was flushed, like a little pig. He hadn't seen such an unguarded sleeping face in years.
The wolf looked at her, a smile creeping onto his lips, and shook his head helplessly.
She was careless and easily deceived. What a foolish woman! It's fortunate she followed Sharp Blade, otherwise she would have been utterly scammed!
...
So many people, densely packed. All were unfamiliar faces, haggard, exhausted, and filled with despair. Some were near death, their families or friends weeping sadly or praying for them.
Ling Ruoke clung to the railing, watching intently, not daring to miss a single person. She could hear her own heartbeat, thump-thump-thump, clear and fast. Her breathing was also a little uneven, as if her trachea was being squeezed, making it hard to breathe.
When she finally spotted the person sitting on the ground in a corner, she couldn't help but laugh and shout, "Qingfeng! Qingfeng!"
He heard her and looked in her direction. He then stood up, smiling, and ran towards her.
Ling Ruoke waved frantically, as if afraid he wouldn't see her!
Two shots rang out. Ling Ruoke stared in astonishment as smoke billowed from his chest, then blood gushed out, staining her vision crimson. His tall body swayed, then slowly fell backward…
"don't want!"
