Chapter 3 The Mad Dog

Chapter 3 The Mad Dog

After giving the ring away, Pei Ci let Ye Qingyu leave, as if it were just a trivial little incident.

Meanwhile, Shao Ying, who had searched for a long time but couldn't find the ring, stepped off the plane in shame. Just as Shao Ying was thinking about how to explain, Pei Ci stood up from her chair.

She glanced at Shao Ying and said cheerfully, "No need to look anymore."

"...Are you sure we don't need to look anymore?" Shao Ying hesitated. This was the first time her young lady had shown such interest in a particular accessory.

"Need not."

So the search for the ring was put on hold.

*

Because Pei Ci's return to China was kept secret, her itinerary was very low-key, except for searching for the ring. Only three black Mantegas came to pick her up.

She went straight into one of the RVs.

As for luggage and personnel arrangements, they were left to the Pei family's butler and Anderson.

The RV has a large interior space, including a living room. Pei Chi, dressed in a suit and tie and seemingly just back from a banquet, is sitting on a warm brown sofa, reading a financial magazine.

His features are deep-set and somewhat cold. When he is serious and focused, he gives off a cool and disdainful feeling, which makes people subconsciously tense up.

Pei Ci didn't feel that way. She took a few steps forward and sat down on the side of the sofa. "Brother, I'm back."

Pei Chi already knew when she got into the car, but he preferred his sister's initiative. He put aside the magazine he hadn't turned a page of in ages, looked up, a faint smile appearing in his eyes, and said, "Mm."

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Pei Chi's inherently domineering and authoritarian nature still made him frown and ask, "Why are you out so late?"

"I overslept."

“Uncle Gong said you lingered at the airport for half an hour.” Pei Chi narrowed his eyes.

His eyes were light-colored, with a scrutinizing look.

“I lost a ring,” Pei Ci explained.

"Has it been found?"

Pei Ci didn't want to mention Ye Qingyu because her brother was determined to interrogate her for a long time.

"No, I don't want it," she said.

“That means we couldn’t find it.” Pei Chi said calmly. “Pei Ci, you should get a new batch of people to serve you.”

Pei Ci experiences a high turnover of people around her because people inexplicably confess their feelings to her or do things that she finds hard to understand. Pei Ci finds this extremely annoying, and she usually replaces them as soon as there's any sign of trouble.

However, although Anderson and Shao Ying occasionally made mistakes and overstepped their bounds, they were generally obedient.

Pei Ci has no plans to replace her for the time being.

"Let's take a look first," Pei Ci said.

“You’re just too kind,” Pei Chi frowned, his face full of disapproval. “You’re too easily bullied.”

This wasn't the first time she'd heard this, and Pei Ci couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. The Pei family's main business was military industry, and although they had begun to shift towards charity due to the easing of the war, she was still lucky if she didn't bully others growing up. However, she didn't argue, and had gotten used to her brother's habit of making a mountain out of a molehill regarding some of her issues.

Her brows relaxed, her black hair falling quietly on both sides, like a beautiful glass doll in a shop window. "Brother is right."

Her gentle voice carried a hint of a smile.

Pei Chi lowered his eyes, his face seemingly filled with complex emotions. After a long while, he said, "Pei Ci, you will live to be a hundred years old."

By this time, everything was packed, and the vehicle slowly began to move. The scenery along the way was beautiful, and Pei Ci listened to her brother talk about family matters. She had heard many of these things from him before, but not in great detail.

For example, my younger brother who went missing was found and is now in high school.

Despite their blood relation, Pei Chi's tone was cold. He was a cold-hearted person by nature, and if Pei Ci hadn't been raised by him, their relationship wouldn't have been very good.

“He’s brainless,” Pei Chi said. “If he offends you when we get back, just tell me.”

Pei Ci: "..."

"good."

"By the way," Pei Chi leaned back on the sofa, his hands clasped together, "did you delete Lu Ran?"

Pei Chi guessed this, as he had received several orders from the Lu family's military industrial enterprises in the past month. He had seen the young master, whom he usually only saw once every few months, three or four times this month. He greeted him politely, inquired about his well-being, and occasionally mentioned Pei Ci.

"The climate in Kenlin is so cold it can freeze your bones to pieces," Lu Ran casually brought up a topic.

Kenlin is the country where Pei Ci was treated. It is a relatively small country, but its medical industry is quite advanced.

Pei Chi did not respond.

Lu Ran frowned. "Grandmother received a fleece blanket from President Kennedy, who said he wanted me to give it to Pei Ci."

Pei Chi remained silent.

Lu Ran turned her head away, "I don't need it, you can send it to her."

To be fair, although Lu Ran's temperament is not as good as that of the two young masters from the Zhou and An families, his family background is first-class and he is easier to control.

Pei Ci lowered her eyelids and nodded slightly.

Did he make you angry?

Pei Ci shook her head. Before knowing the plot, she and Lu Ran had a lukewarm relationship. Although there was talk of getting engaged, they were just friends.

"I don't want to talk anymore," Pei Ci said.

"You don't like him?"

Pei Ci didn't have any particular feelings of liking or disliking anyone. Among the people she could choose from, Lu Ran was the most suitable. He was aloof and not clingy, and he wouldn't ask too many questions. He had a bit of a playboy's airs, but he was easy to coax. Even if she didn't coax him, it wouldn't be a problem.

“It’s fine,” Pei Ci said.

Seeing her younger sister's indifferent expression, Pei Chi lowered her eyes. If that young master knew about her return to the country, he might go crazy.

His sister truly possessed a kind of magic; just standing there doing nothing was enough to drive people mad.

*

An hour and a half later, Pei Ci arrived home. The Pei residence was brightly lit, the gates were wide open, and servants lined up to welcome the young master and young lady back to the country.

Pei Ci quickly dismissed them and went downstairs to the living room with her brother. Her parents were already sitting at the dining table waiting, and next to them was a tall boy with dyed pink hair. He had a baby face and light-colored eyes, just like the Pei family.

"Pei Ze, come on, this is your sister." Pei's mother tugged at the boy's sleeve, a gentle smile on her face. The boy ignored her, saying impatiently, "I'm starving! Can we eat now?"

Pei Chi's gaze was deep and unfathomable.

Pei Ze quickly hid behind his mother, looking frightened. His eyes, however, were fixed on the new older sister.

She looks like a porcelain doll.

And her face is so cold.

He's still sickly.

Pei Ze gritted his teeth. Why was everyone revolving around her?

"Alright, alright, Xiao Chi, I know you love your sister, but A Ci just got back today, and Xiao Ze has suffered so much and has only just been found. You two should stop arguing," Pei's mother said, trying to smooth things over.

"Yes, yes, yes." Mr. Pei agreed unconditionally. "The whole family should come and eat quickly."

Pei Chi didn't reply, but instead led Pei Ci to the dining table. The family didn't start eating until Pei Ci picked up her chopsticks.

Pei Ci hadn't returned for three years, and the atmosphere was a bit tense at first, but it gradually eased up later.

“I am Pei Ze.” Pei Ze glanced at Pei Ci cautiously. When Pei Ci looked over, he caught his breath and deliberately used exaggerated language to say, “Sickly.”

“Okay, Pei Ze.” Pei Ci picked up a piece of chicken and put it in Pei Ze’s bowl.

Pei Ze grinds his teeth.

Why did I pick something he doesn't like?

Pei Ci didn't eat much; she was exhausted. After finishing her meal, she politely left the table. Having traveled a long day, she took her medicine and received her injection with the help of servants, and then fell asleep.

On the other side...

An apartment near Antalya School.

The apartment's third floor was brightly lit, but all sorts of exquisite handicrafts in the room were smashed to pieces. A strong wind swept into the entire room, and Lu Ran, sitting on the ruins, barely managed to suppress the violent rage under his brow.

"Brother Lu, don't be angry. Your wife is probably just having a little tantrum."

"Even though she deleted you and went back to China without telling you, she definitely loves you."

"In the entire Anta, the only one who is worthy of your sister-in-law is our Brother Lu. Calm down."

The boy with pink hair leaned against the door frame, lazily watching the mad dog going berserk in the apartment.

Unlike the aloof and arrogant young master he appeared to be outside, Lu Ran was now breathing heavily, his hands were covered in blood, and the veins on his forehead bulged like deep furrows. His usually pretentious black eyes were now filled with the fury of a volcanic eruption.

Jing Lin really wanted to take a picture to keep for future reference, but offending this school heartthrob would be a huge loss. He went into the house, took out a few tissues from his pocket, and said, "Wipe your sweat, Young Master Lu. What will your wife think if she sees you like this?"

Lu Ran pursed his lips.

Jinglin couldn't resist his sharp tongue, "There are plenty of places out there..."

"Shut up."

Lu Ran took the paper and wiped the blood off his lips heavily.

As the male protagonist who ultimately triumphs in this world, Lu Ran is exceptionally handsome. His grandmother, possessing breathtaking beauty, married into the Hiklau royal family, becoming the country's first foreign queen. His mother was even more beautiful, though her beauty paled in comparison to her remarkable political achievements. His father was the most handsome retired general.

Lu Ran, who perfectly inherited excellent genes, makes everyone who sees his face think of only one word—

handsome.

Anta Academy is a gathering place for geniuses, with countless handsome men and beautiful women. In the past, there has never been a school heartthrob who was widely recognized by the public.

Lu Ran is the only school heartthrob in history to be universally recognized by the public.

However, calling him handsome is too general. His handsomeness is not the traditional kind with thick eyebrows and big eyes, but rather refined and classic, leaning towards nobility, making him look like a noble young master.

Of course, this is only on the surface.

Beneath this handsome exterior lies a vicious, mad dog.

"Alright, alright, I won't say anything more, okay?" Jinglin picked up the chair with the broken leg from the ground and sat down shakily. "But Brother Lu, I've made a new discovery."

Jing Lin discovered Pei Ci's return to China. Someone who could hang out with Lu Ran must have a powerful background. The Jing family is a businessman with a wide range of businesses, and they happened to have acquired Anta Airport. That's how word got out.

The young lady returned to the country, but Young Master Lu was completely unaware.

That's interesting, so interesting!

Jinglin quickly told Lu Ran about it, and Lu Ran, upon learning of it, chased after him from abroad. He dared not let his wife, Aci, see him in such a ferocious state, so upon returning, he found a place to stay and went on a rampage.

When Jing Lin arrived, Lu Ran had already been smashing things for three hours.

"What discovery?" Lu Ran frowned.

Jing Lin opened his phone, opened the surveillance video, and handed it to Lu Ran.

This is surveillance video from the airport.

The video showed a girl he hadn't seen in a long time. She was sitting in a chair, and in the light, she looked like a beautiful painting.

Just then, a familiar figure walked up.

The two people were talking about something.

Their intimate behavior made Lu Ran frown repeatedly, and then the two separated.

Jinglin immediately pressed pause.

Then Lu Ran saw that the bitch was holding a white opal ring.
