Chapter 41 You seem to be having a lot of fun?
Lu Ran was overjoyed, but Pei Ci, who was watching this scene, was a little stunned.
The mission... is complete?
She stood up from her chair and walked over to the two of them. Her eyes met their clasped hands, and her voice unconsciously softened, "You two really...reconciled?"
Even now, she still finds it hard to believe.
Lu Ran felt uncomfortable being stared at by Pei Ci, so he quickly pulled his hand away. Realizing that he was holding hands with Ye Qingyu, he felt a wave of nausea, but he quickly suppressed it.
"Hmm," Lu Ran responded listlessly.
But he quickly shook off his dejection, raised his chin, and looked intently at Pei Ci, "I did it."
Pei Ci glanced at Lu Ran, then looked at Ye Qingyu.
Under her gaze, Ye Qingyu responded calmly, "Yes."
Only after receiving Ye Qingyu's affirmation did Pei Ci feel relieved.
However, remembering what she had said to get Ye Qingyu to come over, she asked softly, "Are we still friends?"
These words made Ye Qingyu pause.
Reason told her she should refuse and not involve unrelated people. But then she wondered, was it too late to refuse now?
Pei Ci had unknowingly entered this battlefield without gunpowder.
The only one who can truly take revenge on Lu Ran is Pei Ci.
"Of course," Ye Qingyu said calmly.
As soon as she finished speaking, she unexpectedly hugged Pei Ci. She was tall and had a large frame, completely enveloping Pei Ci. While Pei Ci was briefly stunned, Ye Qingyu leaned close to Pei Ci's ear and whispered, "Thank you."
Pei Ci did not resist.
After a brief hug, the group left the private boxing gym and returned to the restaurant.
A dazzling array of banknotes and jewelry were casually piled up, and Lu Ran ordered the food to be served. The dishes were extremely plentiful, and Ye Qingyu glanced at them before looking away. This time, she didn't hesitate; as Lu Ran and Pei Ci started eating, she followed suit.
Although their relationship had improved, the effects of their past conflict remained. The meal was somewhat silent. But being able to sit together and eat in silence was already a significant achievement.
The meal was quickly finished, and as they were about to leave, Ye Qingyu suggested, "I need to pack some leftovers."
Everyone present was stunned. Ye Qingyu remained calm and pointed to the pile of gold and jewelry, saying, "Pack it up."
Pei Ci and her group finally came to their senses. She never expected Ye Qingyu to do this. After all, whether in the original story or in the post-collapse storyline, Ye Qingyu was someone who didn't care about money.
She values dignity more than wealth.
But now he has accepted Lu Ran's compensation.
Lu Ran didn't see anything wrong with it. Even a saint would break their vows under immense temptation, let alone Ye Qingyu. Sure enough, that aloofness he displayed before was all an act. While Lu Ran felt disdain, he also thought it wasn't so bad. At least as long as the money was right, he could be manipulated.
That makes things much simpler.
Jinglin's smile then took on a deeper meaning.
"Pack it up for her," Lu Ran said to the waiter who hadn't moved.
A short while later, the waiter handed Ye Qingyu a large bag of packaged jewelry.
"Thank you." Ye Qingyu accepted it readily.
Her appearance is indeed somewhat deceptive; at least when doing such mundane things, she still maintains an arrogant demeanor and stands out in a crowd at a glance.
"If there's nothing else, I'll be going now," Ye Qingyu said, hefting the bag in her hand.
Pei Ci snapped out of her daze. "Ye Qingyu, you can come with us."
"I plan to take the afternoon off," Ye Qingyu said calmly.
ah?
Before Pei Ci could even voice her question, Ye Qingyu said, "Deposit money."
These two words immediately silenced Pei Ci.
Pei Ci didn't quite understand why Ye Qingyu had changed so much. She felt a vague unease in her heart, as if something bad was about to happen.
But what could Ye Qingyu do? Aside from her previous composure and unwavering high-handedness, she never retaliated after being bullied.
That's enough.
Pei Ci's energy is limited, and she's almost exhausted today. She'll deal with Ye Qingyu's matter later.
"Okay, I'll ask for leave for you." After Pei Ci finished speaking, she nudged Lu Ran with her elbow. Lu Ran suppressed the sarcasm on his face and said goodbye in a calm tone.
Jing Lin kept his eyes on Ye Qingyu for a while before saying, "Brother Lu, I also have something to do, so I won't be with you."
Lu Ran summoned Jing Lin not to watch the show, of course. He intended for Jing Lin to marry Ye Qingyu. This wasn't actually a very difficult matter; the Jing family had largely relied on his mother's influence to maintain their position for years.
The Jing family differed from other noble families; they were deeply rooted in the entertainment industry, often using their complex romantic relationships for publicity. While they did choose wives from commoner backgrounds, these were few and far between, and the girls typically died of illness within six months.
Jinglin was also a gift that Lu Ran gave away.
Unlike the limited wealth on the table, Ye Qingyu achieved a leap in social class upon entering the Jing family.
However, since it involves family interests, it cannot be used rashly.
He only decided to play this card after all other strategies had failed.
Fortunately, it wasn't needed.
However, Lu Ran was quite satisfied with Jing Lin's sense of propriety; at this point, he should get lost.
Thinking of this, Lu Ran gave a faint "hmm" and said, "You can see Ye Qingyu off when you leave."
After all, he still remembered that Jinglin liked Ye Qingyu. As a good brother, he naturally wanted to lend a hand.
Jinglin agreed.
After they went outside, Jinglin followed Ye Qingyu. He was very good at judging people and didn't think Ye Qingyu was like that. After blocking Ye Qingyu's path, Jinglin said with a smile, "Ye Qingyu."
"How do you plan to get revenge on Lu Ran?"
He spoke quite bluntly.
Jing Lin couldn't hold back any longer. Of course, he could have watched Pei Ci from a distance, just like before, and personally offered her all the best things in the world.
But he couldn't do it, watching a dispensable costume gain the goddess's favor.
A goddess should not descend to earth; she should always stand on the altar, receiving the worship of believers.
So he had to do something before he was driven mad by the torment.

After Jing Lin and Ye Qingyu left, Lu Ran and Pei Ci did not immediately set off for school.
They went to the lounge of the Lu Ran Club.
This place is called a lounge, but it's really a place to recover from injuries. It's not a large space, decorated in a cool, dark gray tone. The lounge contains a bed and a wooden cabinet, which is filled with medicine for treating external injuries. Lu Ran usually gets his wounds bandaged in the lounge when he gets injured while boxing practice.
Pei Ci is now sitting on the bed, and the doctor who is responsible for giving her an injection and examining her body is on his way.
There were only the two of them in this somewhat cramped space.
Lu Ran stood to the side and watched Pei Ci for a long time, then slowly approached and finally sat down next to Pei Ci with ease.
"Ye Qingyu and I have made up," Lu Ran said calmly.
As he spoke, he took Pei Ci's hand in his. Under Pei Ci's gaze, he inserted one finger at a time into hers, their fingers intertwined.
However, that wasn't enough. Lu Ran had actually wanted to do this for a long time, but only after making such a great contribution today did he dare to do it to Pei Ci. Taking a deep breath, he pulled Pei Ci's hand and slipped it under her clothes.
Pei Ci felt the damp heat in her palm as she pressed her knuckles against the taut, trembling muscles of his abdomen. The texture was rough, and within it, she touched the few cigarette burns.
That was from when she got a perm.
And now it seems to have become his sensitive point.
Each time her fingers gently brushed across the scabbed area, his tall frame trembled slightly. It was almost imperceptible unless you looked closely.
After a few touches, Lu Ran's skin turned a deep red, as if it had been dyed with the rosy glow of the sunset.
But he seemed to enjoy it immensely, and after a few movements, Pei Ci noticed that he was slightly sweating.
I don't even know what I'm doing...
However, she was in a good mood and didn't mind Lu Ran holding a grudge. But there had to be a limit. Only a dozen minutes later, Pei Caici said casually, "My hand hurts."
Lu Ran paused, then quickly pulled his hand out from under his clothes. The hand was damp, seemingly shrouded in mist. He hurriedly placed her hand on his own to cool it down, finally managing to dissipate the heat.
Pei Ci agreed with Jing Lin's logic; she did deserve to reward him.
But what kind of reward should be given?
Pei Ci was momentarily speechless. Lu Ran, staring at her expression, suddenly got out of bed, picked up a box of ointment, and handed it to Pei Ci.
The medicine box was opened, and inside was a pale yellow ointment.
The meaning is clear: apply medicine to him.
Pei Ci dipped some in, and the cold ointment immediately turned into a thick, yellowish-white liquid. She reached out, her slender white fingers tracing across Lu Ran's brow bone.
Lu Ran's breathing became heavier.
Pei Ci traced his brow bone downwards, brushing across his bruised nose. Her movements were slow and even. Each of her movements elicited a violent reaction from him.
Did he get aroused by being touched?
Pei Ci stopped what she was doing, and just then, Lu Ran's face came closer on its own.
Rubbing his face against his fingers, Lu Ran could never find the right spot. Half of his face was covered in sticky liquid. Several times, he didn't notice and his fingertips brushed against the broken white flesh. Lu Ran's breathing became heavier, but he didn't stop.
At this moment, Pei Ci felt like she had adopted a big cat. Now, it seemed like this cat was trying to please her?
Watching his movements, she said calmly, yet with a hint of curiosity, "You seem to be having a lot of fun?"
Is this what being touched or stroked is like?
Pei Ci thought for a moment, then took his hand and placed it on her abdomen.
It doesn't seem to be like that...
Pei Ci pulled up the hem of her pleated skirt, and just as she pulled it open a little, revealing only a glimpse of white skin, Lu Ran trembled as if he had encountered some monstrous beast, and immediately pulled his hands behind his back.
Lu Ran's pupils widened slightly.
Pei Ci looked at him quietly.
She sat obediently on the bed, her hair perfectly neat. Her face was largely expressionless.
It's probably just simple curiosity...
But Lu Ran's heart was pounding. Could their relationship have progressed this far? Touching skin beneath clothing was something they were supposed to do after marriage. But by the time he finished thinking about it, his hand was already inside.
He felt something warm and soft.
Lu Ran: "..."
Quiet.
The atmosphere was suffocatingly quiet.
Pei Ci felt the body temperature emanating from her abdomen, and apart from a slight tingling and itching, there was nothing unusual about it.
So she reluctantly removed his hand, and when she finished tidying her clothes and looked at Lu Ran again, she found that he was still holding his hand outstretched.
Pei Ci reached out and poked Lu Ran's face with her finger.
The next second, the world spun around her, and she fell onto the bed. Lu Ran was on top of her, his body arched slightly, his body temperature rising rapidly, and his eyes burning brightly.
Pei Ci didn't know how much time had passed, so long that Lu Ran's face was buried in the side of her neck, and she heard Lu Ran's muffled voice, "A Ci, I was very good this time."
Will you get engaged to me?
