Chapter 18 The Hope of the Whole Class

"Teacher Li, you wanted to see me?" Wang Xinghe felt that Li Yiyi was like an older sister who was a few years older than him, and she was very kind to him.

In fact, Li Yiyi had just graduated from university. Because she was exceptionally outstanding during her university years, the principal hired her at a high salary and made her the English teacher for the Dream Realization Class.

Li Yiyi is the truly perfect woman; she's not only beautiful, but also excels academically.

"Sit, Star River."

Wang Xinghe sat down next to Li Yiyi.

Did you ask the students in advance if they were going to have a dictation test on the words in this class, and then memorize them beforehand?

"No, what's wrong, Teacher Li?"

"How did you get them all right? These are all very difficult words. How could you have gotten them without preparing beforehand?"

"Oh, it's like this, Teacher Li, I've finished memorizing all the high school vocabulary, and then I started memorizing university vocabulary when I was bored. I'm currently memorizing the TEM-8 vocabulary," Wang Xinghe said truthfully.

This shocked Li Yiyi, not to mention the other English teachers in the office.

"You're memorizing TEM-8 vocabulary? Really?"

"Teacher Li, let's test this new student. Say a few TEM-8 words and see if he knows them," an English teacher said.

Upon realizing what was happening, Li Yiyi immediately uttered a few English words that were equivalent to the TEM-8 (Test for English Majors-Level 8). However, Wang Xinghe, without hesitation, directly stated the meaning of the words, which made the English teacher in the office believe him.

"You got it all right, Xinghe, how are you so amazing?"

"It's alright, Teacher Li."

"Alright, you can go back now. If you have any questions in the future, feel free to ask me. Or if you have any difficulties in life, you can come to me. I'm not much older than you. Tell me what's wrong, and maybe I can help you solve it."

"Okay, Teacher Li, I'll definitely trouble you if I need anything."

"You're welcome to bother me, but you should go back now, class is about to start."

The next two days were the tense and exciting time of the monthly exam. After Chen Duzhi's pre-exam pep talk, everyone was motivated and determined to get good results.

“There are thirty people in the competition class, and thirty people in our class. Our goal is the same as before: to have one student in the top ten of the grade, three students in the top twenty, and fifteen students in the top fifty. Can we do it?” Shen Duzhi asked from the podium.

"able!"

"Great, I see everyone is very confident. Let's stick to the usual rules: what if we can't do it?"

“Teacher, if I can’t do it, the whole class will be punished!” Rong Xu said first.

"Okay, Rongxu, you can lead the way. If we don't achieve our goal this time, our whole class will run twenty laps around the track together to get some exercise, how about that?"

"Ah!" The students in the class started sighing as soon as the topic of running came up.

You should know that they usually lack exercise, so running even ten laps would be difficult, let alone twenty.

"Maybe we should just give up. Priority should be given to the capable. I don't think I'm strong enough." Rong Xu immediately deflated. If he had to run twenty laps, he would be exhausted.

"So everyone should work hard and strive to get good results. Xinghe, come out with me for a moment."

Under the watchful eyes of his classmates, Wang Xinghe followed Shen Duzhi out.

"Xinghe, are you getting used to life and studying at school lately?"

"I'm getting used to it, it's just that it feels..."

"What's wrong?" Shen Duzhi asked, pushing up his glasses.

"It feels a bit too relaxed, almost too easy."

"Haha, okay, I believe you are a child who is strict with yourself. You are not children anymore, and you need to learn self-discipline. Are you confident that you can get into the top five in this exam?"

"Top five in the grade?"

"Yes, are you confident? Our class hasn't been in the top five of the grade for a long time." Shen Duzhi sighed as he said this.

In their class, the two best students were the academic representative, Wu Luoxi, and the class monitor, a boy, whom Wang Xinghe hadn't spoken to much.

If they both perform well, they can make it into the top ten of the grade, but that's only at the very bottom of the top ten; they won't even make it into the top eight.

The main reason is that the competition class is really too good. Those few people are the school's stars. They are the ones who go out to participate in competitions. These exams are a piece of cake for them. They are not stressed at all.

"Teacher, I'll do my best."

"Okay, I believe in you. I've discussed it with the subject teacher, and we all think you can do it. We all trust you. How's that math Olympiad problem coming along?"

"Fortunately, I've learned part of it."

"Okay, keep it up, you can go back now." Shen Duzhi patted Wang Xinghe on the shoulder and said.

Meanwhile, they were packing up their books, preparing to clear the seats and set up the examination room.

"Xinghe, what did Lao Shen tell you?"

As soon as Wang Xinghe returned, Rong Xu came over and asked him.

"Nothing much, just told me to do well on the exam."

"Yeah, Xinghe, you'd better do well on the exam. Our class is counting on you. Ever since you came, you've been the hope of the whole class." A sarcastic voice suddenly appeared and said.

"Zhang Yuanhang, are you out of your mind?! Who are you being sarcastic to?!"

Faced with this sarcastic voice, Rong Xu wasn't going to tolerate it and spoke frankly.

"I don't have Yin and Yang, come on, Xinghe, the whole class is rooting for you!" Zhang Yuanhang patted Wang Xinghe on the shoulder, deliberately emphasizing the last few words.

"What are you pretending for, Xinghe? Don't be angry. That's just how he is. He always thinks he's the best student in the class, but then someone who's even better at studying than him comes along, and he gets resentful. Pah!" Rong Xu said, standing up for Wang Xinghe.

"Okay, I didn't take it to heart. Maybe he was just sincerely wishing me well."

"Him? And you genuinely wish him well? Actually, Lao Shen made a mistake in choosing him as class monitor; I would have been better off being the one."

"Alright, alright, that's enough for now. Shouldn't we head to the exam hall?"

"Yes, let's go to the exam hall first. Which exam hall are you in? Do you want me to take you there?"

"No need, I'm not a child. I can't find the exam venue."

"Alright, keep it up, let's crush that kid under our feet!"

"You should also try your best. If you don't do well on the test, your homework will double!" Wang Xinghe kindly reminded him.

"Sigh, I've already given up. Whatever, let it all be destroyed!" Rong Xu said, and resolutely went to the "battlefield".

"Xinghe, I think you're in the same exam room as me. Want to take the exam together?"

Wang Xinghe had just finished preparing his exam materials and was about to go to the exam room when he heard a voice behind him.

"Luo Xi, you're taking the exam in the same room as me."

"Yeah, didn't you see it? My name is right below yours on the exam room assignment list."
