Chapter 2 Leaving the Orphanage

Li Lian watched the tall boy running towards her, her hands trembling with excitement. Finally, Wang Xinghe arrived in front of Li Lian.

"Xinghe, come to Kyoto with me. You've suffered too much these past years."

Wang Xinghe was anything but calm, but he tried his best to appear calm.

"I need to go through the transfer procedures, but I don't think the school will let me go."

"Xinghe, you agreed?! It's okay, I'll take care of the transfer, I'll take care of it right now, you just need to agree to come to Kyoto with me!"

"Um."

Wang Xinghe turned to Dean Chen and knelt down with a thud.

"Child, what are you doing? Get up!" Dean Chen hurriedly went over to help Wang Xinghe up.

"No, Dean Chen, thank you for your guidance and support over the years. I will come back to visit you often in the future."

After saying this, Wang Xinghe kowtowed three times to Dean Chen.

This made Dean Chen stand there, smiling through his tears.

"Good child, this orphanage is your home. Come back and visit often in the future."

Li Lian, who was standing to the side, did not stop Wang Xinghe's behavior. On the contrary, she felt very gratified that her son knew how to repay kindness and that the welfare home had raised a good son for her.

Li Lian called over her secretary and gave her a few instructions.

The secretary nodded and left after hearing this.

"Xinghe, go pack your things. We're leaving this afternoon."

"good."

At noon, the welfare home prepared a rare feast. The director asked the home's cook to buy several pounds of meat from the supermarket as a farewell gift for Wang Xinghe.

At the dinner table, the children from the orphanage looked at Wang Xinghe with reluctance. Wang Xinghe was now the oldest child in the orphanage, and he usually tutored these children in their studies. Whenever they needed help, Wang Xinghe would help them.

Therefore, they have already regarded Wang Xinghe as their own brother.

Several of the younger girls burst into tears when they saw Wang Xinghe secretly giving them meat from his bowl.

"Don't cry, it's not like Xinghe isn't coming back. I'll come to see you again in the future."

"Brother Xinghe, we can't bear to part with you."

"Good boy/girl, study hard in the future, and when you grow up, go to a school in Kyoto and find Xinghe-gege, okay?"

"good!"

After the meal, Director Chen took out a film camera and had everyone in the welfare home stand together, including Li Lian, and they took a group photo.

"Alright, child, go with your mother."

Li Lian stood aside, not interfering at all; she was a silent observer.

Wang Xinghe didn't have much luggage, just a handbag. Li Lian's secretary wanted to help Wang Xinghe with his luggage, but Wang Xinghe avoided her.

“Xinghe, she is my secretary. You can call her Aunt Zhang. She has been with me for many years.”

Hello, Aunt Zhang.

"Hey, Xinghe, you can tell me anything you need in the future. If President Li isn't around, I can help you with anything."

"Thank you, Aunt Zhang."

"Let's go."

"Yes, madam."

Wang Xinghe got into the Maybach and watched the familiar streets gradually recede into the distance. He was saying goodbye to the welfare home where he had lived for more than ten years.

"Principal! Principal! Something terrible has happened! Xinghe... he's transferred schools!" A panting man pushed open the principal's office door and shouted.

The principal's office was already filled with smoke.

"What are you shouting for! Do you think I don't know?"

The person who pushed open the door was Wang Xinghe's homeroom teacher.

"Principal, what, what's going on? Why, why did you let Xinghe go? Xinghe was a strong contender for the provincial top scorer!"

"Do you think I wanted this? The director of the education department called me directly and told me to release him. What could I do?"

"Get out of here, don't bother me!"

The principal took a deep drag on his cigarette. His beloved student, whom he had protected for almost three years, had just transferred to another school. The principal felt his blood pressure spike and took out two nitroglycerin pills, swallowing them down.

Wang Xinghe had already arrived at the airport with Li Lian. This was his first time flying. Li Lian patiently explained the process of boarding the plane to Wang Xinghe, trying to make up for the maternal love she had neglected to give him over the years.

"Mom, I already know how to sit. This is the third time you've shown me."

Upon hearing this, Li Lian scratched her head awkwardly.

"Hehe, son, Mom is just too happy. Are you hungry? I'll ask your Aunt Zhang to buy you something."

"Mom, aren't things at the airport very expensive? I'm not hungry. I heard there are free meals on the plane, so I'll eat on the plane."

“It’s not expensive, what’s so expensive about it? Here, son, let me take you to see what food is available.” Li Lian took Wang Xinghe’s hand and walked towards the airport’s food court.

"Son, let's eat KFC."

Wang Xinghe nodded. "Either is fine."

Li Lian still remembers the envious look Wang Xinghe gave other kids when he was little, seeing them holding hamburgers. Now, Wang Xinghe can eat as many as he wants.

Upon arriving at the KFC store, Wang Xinghe followed behind Li Lian. Li Lian took out her phone and started scanning a QR code to order. It was the first time Wang Xinghe had ever seen this way of ordering, and he looked at Li Lian with some curiosity.

Li Lian pressed a few buttons on her phone, and soon a large amount of food was served.

Hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, cola...

The entire table was filled with it.

"Mom, why did you order so much? How am I supposed to finish it all?"

"It's okay, son, eat as much as you want. If you can't finish it, just leave it here. I ordered all kinds of food for you, so try them all."

"Mom, you don't need to do this. Enough food is enough."

"Silly child, you need to change this mindset. We have money, so we don't need to think about saving."

"Mom, this won't do. I'll go and share these with others. This is too much."

"Secretary Zhang, you go ahead. Xinghe, you eat. Let your Aunt Zhang go."

After finishing their meal, Li Lian took Wang Xinghe to the VIP area to rest, and soon they heard the announcement that it was time to board the plane.

The flight attendant standing at the cabin door saw Li Lian and her group arrive and immediately greeted them in a gentle and sweet voice, "Welcome aboard, Ms. Li. Have a pleasant journey!"

Li Lian nodded, and the flight attendant smiled and nodded to Wang Xinghe. Wang Xinghe immediately blushed and nodded back to the flight attendant.

Wang Xinghe had never experienced this kind of service before, and most of the time he was met with harsh words.

"Ms. Li, would you like anything?" The flight attendant came over and asked as soon as she sat down.

"No need, I'll call you if I need to."

"Okay, Ms. Li." The flight attendant smiled and left.

"Son, here is some information about your Uncle Su's family. Take a look at it first."
