Chapter 318 Wang Wanyue

"Brother and sister, are you my grandparents' students? Are you here to visit them for the Lunar New Year?"

"No, it's just an old friend. Since they're not here, we'll be leaving now."

"Brother and sister, since you're already here, please come in and wait for a while. I'll call Grandpa and Grandma now, and they'll be back soon."

Wang Xinghe initially wanted to refuse, but seeing the girl's sincere eyes, he still took the things and went into the house with Liu Qingmeng.

"Brother and sister, please sit down first. I'll go get you some water."

After Wang Xinghe entered, he looked around. Ten years had passed, and the house hadn't changed at all; it was exactly the same as before.

“Xingxing, you look a bit like her. This must be the granddaughter those old folks are talking about.”

"It should be."

"So that means she's your sister?"

I don't have a younger sister.

"Okay, look at that little girl, she's so kind and well-behaved, she's just like you, she makes you want to protect her."

"Mengmeng, I told you, I don't have a younger sister."

"If you don't have it, you don't have it. Why are you being so fierce?"

"Brother and sister, don't worry, I just made a phone call, and Grandpa and Grandma will be back soon."

"Come, little sister, have a seat. What's your name?"

"My name is Wang Wanyue, you can just call me Wanyue."

"Wanyue, how old are you this year? You look about the same age as us."

"Sister, what's your name?"

"My name is Liu Qingmeng, and his name is Wang Xinghe."

"Wang Xinghe? So you're also surnamed Wang, brother. I'm seventeen years old this year." Wang Wanyue's face showed an unconscious smile when she spoke, which made people feel very comfortable.

Upon hearing that Wang Wanyue was seventeen, Wang Xinghe clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force, and his expression became terrifyingly cold.

Seemingly sensing the change in Wang Xinghe, Wang Wanyue glanced at him with some apprehension.

"Brother Xinghe, what's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"

"No, I was just thinking about something, it has nothing to do with you." Wang Xinghe forced a smile that looked more like a grimace.

"Okay, Sister Mengmeng, are you from Ningjiang?"

“I’m from Kyoto, and your brother Xinghe is from Ningjiang,” Liu Qingmeng said truthfully after glancing at Wang Xinghe.

"Kyoto people, Mengmeng-neechan, isn't Kyoto incredibly beautiful? I've always wanted to go to Kyoto, but I can't. I'm determined to get into a university in Kyoto!"

"If you want to go, you can go during winter or summer vacation; just treat it as a trip."

Wang Wanyue's face showed a look of longing, then she shook her head.

"Never mind, I'm taking the college entrance exam this year, and I'm sure I can get into a university in Kyoto."

"How are your studies going?" Wang Xinghe suddenly asked.

Speaking of studying, Wang Wanyue's little face lit up with pride, "Brother Xinghe, I'm number one in my grade, I'm a very good student!"

Wang Xinghe nodded without saying anything.

"Sister Qingmeng, can you tell me what Kyoto is like? Is it the Kyoto I imagined?"

"Of course, Kyoto can fulfill any of your fantasies. If you get into a university in Kyoto, you can come find me and I'll take you around."

"Okay! Sister Qingmeng, can I add you as a friend?"

"Of course you can."

"By the way! Sister Qingmeng, are you a college student? Do you go to university in Kyoto?"

"Yes, speaking of which, your Xinghe brother and I are a year older than you, and we're both freshmen this year."

"Alright, Mengmeng." Wang Xinghe frowned, interrupting Liu Qingmeng, seemingly reluctant to mention their age.

"Brother Xinghe, are you related to me?"

Why do you say that?

"Because you also have the surname Wang, and you're a year older than me, aren't you related to me? And I always feel a sense of closeness to you."

"I'm not, you've mistaken me for someone else."

"Okay then, was I mistaken?"

"Alright, Wanyue, ignore him. He's like this. Let's continue our conversation."

“Okay, Sister Qingmeng.” Wang Wanyue glanced at Wang Xinghe, then looked at Liu Qingmeng.

"Sister Qingmeng, what is your relationship with Brother Xinghe?"

What do you think our relationship is?

"Does that mean you two are in a romantic relationship?"

"You guessed right."

"Wow! Really? I always thought you two were a perfect match, I never thought it was true! Is it a campus romance?" Wang Wanyue's eyes were full of longing.

"Yes, so, Wanyue, study hard and you can do it too when you get into a good university in Kyoto."

"Yes, I will. But I don't plan on dating. I want to focus on my studies and find a good job!"

"Your family isn't poor, is it?" Wang Xinghe asked.

"Brother Xinghe, why do you say that?"

"Xinghe, what are you saying! She's just a young girl, why are you saying that?"

“It’s nothing. I remember your grandparents have a pretty high retirement pension, and you also have your mom and dad. You should be able to make ends meet.”

"Brother Xinghe, I don't have a father or mother."

"You don't have a father or mother? You beast!" Wang Xinghe clenched his fist again, making a cracking sound from the force.

“My father died in a car accident when I was eight years old because of alcoholism. My mother said she was going out to buy me a cake on my tenth birthday, and she never came back.”

"Serves you right!"

"Huh? Brother Xinghe, you also think I deserve it? I shouldn't have come into this world."

Seeing the girl looking down and at a loss, Wang Xinghe felt a pang of sympathy.

"No, I wasn't talking about you. Have you been living here all these years?"

"No, they don't like me. I usually live at my maternal grandfather's house, and when I was in school I lived at school. I rarely come here, which is why I asked if you are my relative."

"Um."

Suddenly, I heard the sound of the door opening.

"Brother Xinghe, Sister Mengmeng, my grandparents are back. I'm going inside to study. You two can chat."

"Wanyue, who's here?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Wang Xinghe felt a little dazed. It was the same voice back then, cold and ruthless.

Upon seeing Wang Xinghe, the old man asked, "What brings you here?"

"Wanyue, go back to your room and study. There's nothing for you here. Close the door."

"I understand, Grandpa."

Wang Xinghe's grandmother also came in carrying groceries.

"Old man, who's here?"

Upon seeing Wang Xinghe, the expression on his face froze.

"Didn't expect it to be me, did you?"

"Go cook," Wang Xinghe's grandfather said, turning to look at Wang Xinghe's grandmother.

"Okay, stay for dinner tonight."

"No need, we'll leave right away," Wang Xinghe said, glancing at the old man.

"Since you're here, have a meal before you leave."
