Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Reader Chang Ting was horrified. He couldn't help but put the phone away, not wanting to even look at Xu San's terrifying face.

After a moment's pause, he shifted his gaze back and continued reading the comics.

Xu San picked up the drowsy child, carried him back to the bedroom, and threw him onto the bed.

He picked up a medicine bottle and looked at it, revealing the word "anticoagulant" on the label between his fingers.

"This anticoagulant is quite effective. After just a few days of taking it, my nosebleeds stopped. As soon as the nosebleeds started, I sold over 300 orders of tea."

He reached out and picked up the child's limp little arm, looking at the bruises on the skin.

"It can also cause subcutaneous bleeding symptoms, exactly like leukemia. It's absolutely perfect."

Xu San turned around and picked up a calculator, feeling overjoyed. "A box of health tea costs 15 yuan, and the price is 168... Damn, I'm making a killing!"

Xixi, who was lying on the bed, was still bleeding from her nose, and a dark circle had appeared on the pillow, but he didn't care at all.

“Knock knock…”

In the next frame, the sudden knock on the door is expressed in bold font.

"Who is it?" Xu San turned his head impatiently.

Xu San opened the door a crack, and outside was a haggard young woman.

"Xu San, please let me see the child."

The visitor was Xu San’s ex-wife, Xixi’s mother.

"Get out!" Xu San blocked the doorway, preventing Xixi's mother from entering, and yelled at her, "When you insisted on divorcing me, why didn't you take care of the child? If you hadn't abandoned Xixi and hurt her emotionally, would she have gotten leukemia?"

Xixi's mother shed tears: "I'm sorry...but I didn't mean to abandon the child. You took her away. The child was awarded to me, I have the right..."

"You have no right at all. Can you afford Xixi's medical treatment?"

"I...I will try my best..."

"It's hundreds of thousands a year, why don't you pay it out? You don't have the ability to treat Xixi's illness. Do you want her to die by letting her follow you?"

Xixi's mother was in a dilemma and took out a stack of cash: "I have saved up this much these days. If you don't give me your bank account, I will have to withdraw cash..."

He snatched the money away.

"These aren't even enough for Xixi's medicine for a day! Where's the man you're with? Let him pay!"

"I'm not looking for another partner."

"Why don't you look for it? For Xixi's sake, can't you just sell it?"

Xixi's mother's face was filled with hidden shame: "Don't say such harsh words, I will find another job. Let me take a look at Xixi..."

Xixi's mother tried to rush in through the door.

"Get out! You don't deserve it. Xixi doesn't even want to see you!" Xu San slapped her hard in the face.

She covered her face and fell down in the corridor.

Xu San slammed the door shut. The angry expression on his face disappeared, replaced by a smug look.

He said to himself, "I told everyone you don't want child support, but I can't let it get out. Bank transfers will be recorded, and cash is the safest."

"Stupid woman."

He dipped his saliva in the money and counted the cash proudly.

Chang Ting couldn't bear it any longer, so he put his phone on his knees, closed his eyes and pressed his throbbing solar plexus. He felt that he should go to the internal medicine clinic next door to get some antihypertensive drugs.

It was just a comic, but he was so absorbed in it.

The scraps of information he'd gathered over the past few days had already given him a clue. The comics realistically recreated everything. Though static, they made him feel as if he were actually there, nearly overwhelming the emotions he'd been building up over the past few days.

Although he has not yet obtained the evidence, he already knows in his heart that Xu Candong is a liar, a sadist, and a vampire.

He wished he could rush into Xu Candong's house right now, punch Xu San in the face, and rescue the child.

But he has not yet obtained evidence and approval, and has no authority to take action.

A question popped up in my angry mind.

How did Chen He, a stay-at-home girl, know Xu Candong's secrets and even know more than the police?

He hadn't finished reading the comic yet. He paused for a moment, then continued reading.

Xu San had a greasy look of joy on his face as he put the money into his pocket and walked towards the bathroom.

He walked past the mirror and headed towards the toilet. Something was wrong in the mirror. Besides Xu San, there was also a vague figure of another person.

Xu San seemed to sense something was wrong and froze in his tracks.

He took a step back and slowly turned to look at the mirror.

The smile on his face froze, turning into an expression of extreme fear.

In the dirty mirror, there was another person behind him.

She was a middle-aged woman dressed simply, wearing rustic clothes and pants, short hair, and black-framed glasses. She stood upright, her eyes behind the lenses were hollow, staring at him gloomily.

Xu San couldn't move, his face twitching, and he squeezed out a word between his teeth: "Feng..."

Blood flowed out from under the woman's thick bangs, covering half of her face.

Xu San's crotch was wet.
