Chapter 3
Chen He waved her hand: "You don't necessarily need help. There are ways to solve the problem of lack of physical strength." She avoided the main point of Chang Ting's question.
Chang Ting asked with interest: "What method?"
"Stimulants. If Qiu Yue gets hold of some kind of stimulant, it can boost her physical strength for a short period of time.
"Stimulants are deadly to heart patients. They can hasten their death and reduce their pain, killing two birds with one stone."
Zhou Zhengzheng also got excited and offered another suggestion: "Stimulant drugs are strictly controlled. It would be difficult for a student like Qiu Yue to get them."
"There are ways to shop online. For example, some drug-addicted groups..." said Chen He.
The two policemen looked at her strangely.
"You are very wild." Chang Ting said.
"Just a little common sense. If you don't like it, I can think of another way."
Chen He thought for a moment. "I got it. If she could find an animal cave in the mountains that was big enough for her to crawl into, she could first sprinkle flower seeds around the cave, then prepare a stone about the same size as the cave entrance, crawl into it, and block the entrance with the stone. This method shouldn't be too laborious, right?"
Chang Ting's eyes changed: "There are so many ways to commit suicide, is there any way to kill people?" There was something else in his words.
"Of course I have." Chen He said calmly, "In order to come up with suspense themes, I often search online for 'how to kill someone without being discovered by the police' and 'how to destroy the body to conceal the truth', looking for inspiration.
“It is well known that killing someone is easy but disposing of the body is difficult.
"In modern society, public security is so good, and the Skynet system has almost universal coverage. It's almost impossible to get away with breaking the law, so this topic is becoming increasingly difficult to write about.
"We once had a group of suspense writers who spent all day discussing how to kill people, but the group was eventually shut down."
Chang Ting and Zhou Zhengzheng were speechless.
Chen He realized that he had become overly excited and overly talkative when talking about his creation, and quickly made amends: "Of course, I didn't mean to say that a society ruled by law is bad. A safe social environment is more important than anything else."
Chang Ting was so angry that he almost had teeth in his stomach. Just now he was thinking that this woman was not simple and he would have to ask his technical colleagues to check her online traces.
She had said it in advance, and now any search on the Internet has an explanation. It's a good way to retreat in order to advance.
Chang Ting held his breath, scrolled down quickly, and stopped at the last page. "So you mean, Qiu Yue committed suicide?"
Chen He didn't fall for the trick and tilted her head. "How should I know? I'm just coming up with a story. Whether it was suicide or homicide, you should be able to tell through the autopsy, right?
"Was she alive or dead when she was buried?" she asked curiously, not retreating but counterattacking.
Chang Ting's face turned grim. The condition of Qiu Yue's remains was strange, and even now, there were still some inexplicable aspects that he couldn't reveal.
"The case is still under investigation and the details are confidential. Why are you asking this?"
Chen He calmly met the inquiry in his eyes: "After all, we are friends, so let's get to know each other. Forget it."
"The question is, when you drew this comic three years ago, Qiu Yue was just missing. How can you be sure she's dead?"
"I'm not sure. This is just a work of fiction. Officer Chang, please don't confuse fiction with reality. I'm just using my imagination."
Chen He's lips curved, "Think about it, Qiu Yue was in poor health. She'd been missing for a few years, so she was probably in grave danger. Then, based on her own description, I imagined where she was buried."
"When readers read this, they will feel that it is both unexpected and reasonable. This is the skill of storytelling."
"Telling a story, right? What about this part?" Chang Ting turned the comic back to a certain part.
It describes the scene of the conflict between Qiu Yue and Chen He before Qiu Yue disappeared.
Chen He looked at her painting, the scene vividly in her mind. The quarrel had come suddenly, just like the sudden appearance of this scene in the comic.
Qiu Yue suddenly turned against her and splashed paint on Chen He's skirt in front of teachers and students, accusing Chen He of being a shameless mistress, being friends with her in public but secretly stealing her boyfriend.
"shameless."
Qiu Yue’s hysterical screams are still ringing in my ears.
She fought with others for the dirty words that were smeared on Qiu Yue, and Qiu Yue used them to insult her.
The two broke up from then on and ignored each other.
Some time later, as summer vacation drew to a close, Qiu Yue suddenly disappeared...
Two knocks brought Chen He back from her memories. Chang Ting was rapping the table with his knuckles. His eyes were filled with inquiry: "What are you thinking about?"
"Oh." Chen He slowly relaxed her grip on the cup. "This part is also true. We did have a fight."
Chang Ting glanced at the screen: "She said you were a mistress."
"Nonsense." Anger lines appeared on Chen He's lips. "She is just being paranoid."
"Who is her boyfriend?"
"I don't know. I'm too lazy to know, let alone compete with her for it."
After so many years, Chen He's anger seemed to have not subsided yet, and he looked away with a sullen face.
Chang Ting looked at her. In the backlight, the line from her nose to her jaw looked like it was drawn with a pencil, simple and cold.
After a moment of silence, he suddenly asked, "Why did you draw the story between you and Qiu Yue into a cartoon?"
"I'm a professional cartoonist, so it's normal for me to find inspiration from reality."
"As creative people, do you deliberately include people you like or dislike in real life into your work?"
Chen He thought for a moment. "I don't know about others, but for me, I might not paint someone I like, but I will definitely paint someone I hate, and make him suffer a miserable end. I might not use his real name, but I'll use a homophone or something. If the work becomes popular, he'll hopefully be infamous forever."
The fierceness between her brows flashed away.
"Is this why you painted Qiu Yue dead? The person you once helped turned against you and threw dirty water at you, so you made her have a miserable end in your work."
"It's not polite to say that after the person has died."
She didn't deny it. There was a glint in her eyes, a subtle teasing expression, like a cat with something on its mind. "Officer, killing someone in the virtual world isn't illegal, right?
Chang Ting did not accept her provocation. This time he was not angry, but very calm:
"As long as Qiu Yue doesn't sue you." Before Chen He could say anything, he continued, "Oh, by the way, she's dead, so there's no way she can sue. Did you draw this comic just to get revenge on Qiu Yue?"
"No."
"And for what?"
"To make money."
“Did you make money then?”
"No. It's already been abandoned after only five chapters, not even the starting point of the paid chapter."
Chang Ting looked at Chen He: "Why didn't you continue painting?"
"The data is too disappointing. It's not worth continuing. Cut your losses immediately."
"It seems that money is more important to you than revenge on Qiu Yue."
Chen He nodded in agreement: "Of course it's important. Painters have to eat too."
"If I continue to draw, what will happen next?"
Chen He tilted his head and thought for a moment: "I don't have the habit of writing an outline. I just draw whatever comes to mind. I haven't thought about the follow-up yet. But I have to think about it now even if I don't want to."
"What's the meaning?"
Chen He smiled and pointed at her phone: "As soon as Qiu Yue's body was discovered, the comics became popular.
"It's like a foreshadowing coming true, always exciting. Look at how enthusiastic the readers are. Traffic is money, and the royalties are bound to skyrocket. Wouldn't it be a shame not to seize this wave of popularity and continue writing?"
