Chapter 23 Chastity May Be Lost

Jiang He was so angry that he dropped what he was holding and went straight to find a boss.

At that time, the director was drinking tea in the house.

It's icy and snowy outside and very cold.

He was holding a handful of melon seeds in his hand, and when he heard someone knocking on the door, he immediately took his feet off the table.

When he saw that the person coming was Jiang He, he retracted his bared teeth.

"Jiang He, what brings you here today?"

Jiang He's face flushed red. "Captain, this widow Wu has been harassing me lately. I can't even work. This has caused me serious psychological and physical harm!"

The director felt a little helpless. He patted Jiang He's shoulder and motioned him to sit down.

"I've already helped you mediate this matter before, but you can control everything, but you can't control other people's love."

Jiang He clapped his hands on the coffee table, making a loud noise. The director frowned as he watched.

"But this widow is still spreading rumors everywhere. She's so old, and she's corrupting the morals of our commune."

The leader leaned back on the sofa, no longer as friendly as before.

"Corrupting morals? They were open and honest, just pursuing you passionately. They didn't do anything vile. This isn't the old society anymore!"

Jiang He choked and was unable to refute.

He was so angry that he almost vomited blood and felt that his chastity might be lost.

This old widow seemed to have taken the wrong medicine, she wanted to kill him!

In the yard, Ye Lanqing went to the mountain and picked up a lot of firewood.

The weather has been cold these past two days, and she has been restless.

Some time ago, she reclaimed a piece of wasteland, weeded it and turned the soil over.

At that time, no one looked down on this piece of wasteland. It was originally a forest with many tree roots of different sizes buried under the soil.

Even if it is forced to open, I am afraid it will not grow much food.

It's laborious and thankless, so naturally not many people want it.

As time went by, the land became idle.

But Ye Lanqing dug out all the tree roots in the soil bit by bit, and also dug out the slightly deeper stones, and the land actually took shape.

When the weather was still warm, she scattered some vegetable seeds, and they germinated very efficiently.

If we plant real crops, I think it will grow a lot!

The key is that this piece of land is close to a water source, so watering is convenient.

Guo Hui, the second wife who lived next door, sneered and mocked Ye Lanqing when she saw him picking up another pile of firewood.

"I think you're completely sick and confused. You're looking at a dying person, yet you're still trying to pick up these rags. Aren't you afraid that he'll die on the way and no one will know?"

Guo Hui kicked the firewood that Ye Lanqing had piled up and spat in disdain.

She and Ye Lanqing are sisters-in-law. When they were young, Ye Lanqing was beautiful and surpassed her in every way.

After her son joined the army, she always surpassed him in everything.

But so what?

In the end, her short-lived husband was left with no body, and her son became a cripple.

"Your life is truly miserable. You haven't had anything good. And your son is so arrogant that he married a city girl. She's not cut out for farm work. From now on, you'll just have to serve them well."

"I think your son just wants to get together with a girl in the city so that he can live a good life there and leave you, a troublesome woman, in the countryside to fend for yourself."

She spoke with great enthusiasm. When Ye Lanqing heard what she said, a trace of loneliness flashed in his eyes, and even his back looked a little sad.

Guo Hui felt somewhat proud. She leaned against the wall, with the sun from the east shining on half of her body.

"But at least I have to call you sister-in-law. Your wasteland is of little use anyway. If you give it to me, my son can take care of you in your old age."

Guo Hui thought happily in her heart.

She originally looked down upon that piece of wasteland.

But unexpectedly, Ye Lanqing managed to revitalize it bit by bit.

If she could grow crops on such a large piece of land, it would give her family at least two more months of food.

Ye Lanqing raised his head calmly, as if looking at her.

She looked at it for a long time before pointing at herself.

"Were you just talking to me?"

Guo Hui was so angry that she threw the pumpkin seeds in her hand: "Hey, you old fool, you are pretending to be confused with me, right?"

Ye Lanqing took two steps back: "Do we know each other? Why are you so fierce?"

Guo Hui's chest was heaving violently, and her outburst just now seemed like talking to a deaf ear!

Ye Lanqing ignored him and continued picking weeds along the way.

"This is good stuff. I haven't seen purslane in years. I'll go back and mix it with vegetables."

She muttered to herself, and Guo Hui sneered, "Madman! It's unfortunate to have a mother like you."

Guo Hui was so engrossed in her cursing that she didn't notice she had stepped on cow dung.

Her foot slipped and she fell backwards uncontrollably.

"Oh my god, whose cow is shitting here? Do you want to throw me to death?"

She supported her waist with one hand and slowly stood up against the wall.

Ye Lanqing's eyes lit up when he saw the cow dung: "This is good stuff. It burns longer than firewood. The house will be warmer, and the children won't be afraid of the cold."

She picked up the cow dung, and Guo Hui quickly snatched it from her hand, suddenly becoming interested in it.

"I saw it first. Didn't you see I fell down?"

Ye Lanqing refused to let go: "This is mine, I just picked it up."

Guo Hui pushed her with one hand: "What do you mean by 'your'? You're even grabbing cow dung. Ye Lanqing, are you really sick in the head? Then I'll give it to you, do you want to eat it?"

Ye Lanqing was pushed to the ground and was seen by Sister Wang who was going out.

She leaned the hoe against the wall and grabbed Guo Hui's hair.

"Guo Hui, you shameless person! I've disliked you for a long time, and now you dare to hit someone? Do you think you can do whatever you want just because no one sees you?"

Guo Hui was showing off when her scalp suddenly tightened.

She took two steps back and when she saw it was Sister Wang, she started cursing.

"Wang Dazui, let me go. What's the matter between us sisters-in-law got to do with you?"

Sister Wang just used some strength in her hand: "You can't bully others!"

Xie Yanbei was still receiving acupuncture in the clinic when Ji Qingzhou came back from getting his lunch and saw two people fighting.

Ye Lanqing was still sitting on the ground next to him, covered in dust.

"Sister Wang, what's going on?"

Sister Wang spoke frankly: "Qingzhou, you came at the right time. This old bitch bullied your mother-in-law and pushed her to the ground. I happened to see it."

Guo Hui saw that only Ji Qingzhou came over, and her face was full of disdain.

A girl from the city, as delicate as a chick, what big waves can she stir up?
