Chapter 118 Finale: The Sun Never Sets

Chapter 118 Finale: The Sun Never Sets

The living room lights snapped off, leaving only the dim light streaming in from the window, outlining the silhouettes of the two people on the sofa.

The already loosely closed pajamas opened even wider, and her breathing quickened. Wen Chu's hands had already touched every inch of the man's body before she was pinned down.

Desire coursed through her body, Wen Chu's body tensed, her eyes glistening with tears. The room's air conditioning was too cold, but her skin was burning hot.

Lu Ming gently kissed every part of her body, then raised his head again, pressed his forehead against hers, and asked softly, "Are you feeling better?"

The man's voice was like it was on fire, low and husky yet possessing a bewitching power. Wen Chu stared at him with wide eyes, her pupils darting back and forth slightly.

Lu Ming was captivated by her subtle expression. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he couldn't resist giving her a quick peck on the forehead, whispering, "So cute." He stroked her cheek, and his heart, which had been forged of ice crystals, melted into a pool of clear water, now even warm to the touch.

Lu Ming's heart was racing. He swallowed hard, his eyes darting around as he asked, "Is...it...okay?"

Wen Chu's breathing became erratic. She stood up and bit the man's Adam's apple hard: "Come on then."

The man hummed softly, frowned slightly, then relaxed, his expression one of pleasure. The bitten man's eyes gleamed with excitement as he grabbed her hand and pressed it onto the sofa, their fingers intertwined. He then affectionately nuzzled her neck with his hair and earnestly pleaded, "Wen Chu, promise to date me."

Wen Chu's hands and feet weren't still well-behaved, but there was still some concern on her face: "Are you sure your parents will agree?"

“They’ll really like you, I’m sure.” His blood boiling, Lu Ming sighed, feeling a little overwhelmed by the flirting, and tried to sound serious. “Besides, I’m not 26 anymore. My affairs don’t need their approval, so you don’t need to worry about that. You just need to… um… like… like me…”

Wen Chu's eyes shone like a cat that had done something naughty, and she gave him a playful smirk.

Having received an affirmative answer, all of Lu Ming's excited nerves were ignited. The person who had been at a disadvantage and being teased so vigorously tilted his head, and his aura suddenly became more aggressive. He grabbed Wen Chu's restless hand and placed it on his chest, breathing rapidly: "You're going too far, can I go even further?"

"Ugh!" Wen Chu exclaimed in surprise, her whole body felt several degrees hotter. Her words were stuck in her throat, leaving only an unexpected and indescribable feeling.

Lu Ming gently pecked her face again and again, soothing her little by little, "I'll make you feel comfortable."

Then, all sounds were swallowed up, and sweat and vomit mingled freely.

The next morning, a torrential downpour outside woke the sleeping man. Wen Chu clung to him like a koala, her body completely naked under the covers. Dazed and groggy, she opened her eyes.

The bed was warm and cozy, making me feel incredibly tired.

Her hand was still on the man's chest, and it felt nice. But the slightest movement made her feel as if a bolt of lightning had struck her from the top of her head. She muttered "Damn it," then leaned back down, resting her chin on his chest, and looked up to admire the man's contented sleeping face.

Isn't their progress a bit too fast?

Who cares? If we don't go crazy now, we'll be too old.

Last night was a chaotic mess. The two of them, who were well past the age of tasting forbidden fruit, had tasted the sweetness and completely lost control. They did and said everything, provoking each other, and the situation became a complete mess.

Wen Chu thought for a moment, then covered her face and began to consider whether it might disturb the neighbors.

But soon a more pressing matter came to mind: it wasn't the weekend, and I had to go to work!

She took a deep breath and quickly reached for her phone: "What time is it now???"

Lu Ming woke up, pulled her back into his arms, turned over and hugged her tightly, and said in a hoarse voice, "Never mind, we're not going today."

"It's really strange that all the people who had perfect attendance for two months suddenly took leave."

"You'll find out eventually, I wasn't trying to hide it." Lu Ming closed his eyes and skipped the topic, then pecked her shoulder and murmured, "So soft."

"Tsk."

Wen Chu wanted to struggle a little longer, but when she was close to someone, she felt inexplicably sleepy. She changed to a more comfortable position and fell asleep again in no time.

When she woke up again, the room next to her was empty. She rubbed her eyes and saw clean pajamas on the bedside table. She could still faintly hear banging and crashing sounds outside.

She quickly changed her clothes, stretched her back and rubbed it a couple of times before peeking out of the room.

Lu Ming, dressed in black silk pajamas, was busy in the kitchen, his face serious, looking at the pot in front of him as if facing a formidable enemy.

"What are you doing?" Wen Chu asked.

"Awake?" Lu Ming scooped a spoonful of salt into the pot, thought for a moment, and then carefully scooped in half a spoonful more: "I wanted to cook, but you don't have anything, I only found noodles. My aunt didn't teach me how to make this, I'm still figuring it out, but I feel like it should be okay."

"Just order takeout, why go through all that trouble? I don't usually cook, so think it over. If you're with me, the most you'll get is a bowl of sweetened porridge after get off work." Wen Chu walked over, crossed her arms, and leaned against the kitchen door to look at him.

Lu Ming's lips curved into a smile: "Don't even think about it. When you're with me, it's not your turn to cook."

Wen Chu smiled and said, "Then can you give me all your money?"

Lu Ming scooped a spoonful of soup to taste the saltiness. After confirming it was alright, he put the lid on the pot, turned around, kissed Wen Chu's cheek, and teased her in a deep voice: "I can give you anything, as long as you belong to me."

"Is there anything that's bothering you?"

"What could possibly be wrong with me? I think you should eat more so you don't fall behind later." Wen Chu tiptoed and bit his neck, then darted to the dining table in a second to eat.

Lu Ming touched his neck; another mark had appeared on his body. He was covered in them.

Wen Chu glanced at the wrinkled sofa and said, "Wash the sofa cushions after you finish eating."

Lu Ming found the bossy tone quite appealing and chuckled, saying "Okay."

And so they got together.

At first, Wen Chu felt a little uncomfortable; the shift in their real-life relationship was too rapid and felt unreal. But after being forced to go on dates and spend a few days together, the familiarity from that world slowly returned. She was still herself, and Lu Ming was still Lu Ming. The overlap between the two worlds was both clear and dreamlike.

They shared a secret, passionate, and life-or-death love story, which built a high wall of trust between them, with their 100% love flowing gently in the mornings, evenings, and midnights.

After yet another absurd incident, they reflected on the information gap between them in that world and still had many feelings.

Wen Chu leaned lazily against the man's chest and said, "There are still too many things that humans don't know, and no one knows how many unlucky people are dragged into missions every day."

"In any case, I am still very grateful for this opportunity; at least it made me known to you."

Wen Chu curled her lips and looked up at him: "With such a handsome face, why are you having a crush? Wouldn't it be better to just be direct?"

Lu Ming lowered his head and kissed her forehead: "Everyone's aesthetic is different, and I can't tell whether you approve of my appearance. Besides, I don't want to be too abrupt."

Wen Chu nodded slowly: "If I had known from the beginning that you had ill intentions towards me when you recruited me, I wouldn't have come. That's really too much!"

Lu Ming disagreed with that statement: "I'm serious, and I have good intentions." He sighed again, "I also want to test how much you like me."

Wen Chu snorted: "Envious? I earned that by giving you a lot of cold shoulders."

Lu Ming was rebuffed: "If there's a next time, I hope it's me who remembers everything and it's my turn to pursue you."

"You want a next time? Forget it, one time is enough to make me suffer. I've never shed so many tears in my life!"

"Me too……"

"You? You only cried that one time?"

A hint of melancholy flashed across Lu Ming's eyes as he said, "You have no idea how I got through the year you had your accident. Of course you can't understand it because you have props."

"How do you know that you won't die from falling from such a tall building?"

Lu Ming still felt the pain of the shock when he recalled that scene. He couldn't forget the piercing burning sensation in his lungs, the nauseating metallic taste in his mouth, and the dizzying, collapsing world. He gripped the woman's hand tightly: "Promise me, no matter what happens in reality, you can't do that."

"You wish! I value my life." Wen Chu rolled her eyes.

Lu Ming smiled, the heavy topic was over, and he affectionately kissed Wen Chu's temple, asking in a low voice, "Have you rested well?"

Wen Chu's face flushed, and she immediately switched from defense to offense, pinning him down and straddling him. She grabbed a pillow and covered the man's face with it, clearly embarrassed and not wanting anyone to see, but she still said rudely, "Come on, do you think I'm afraid of you?!"

Two weeks later, all the companion robots that had been sold were recalled and upgraded.

People outside were talking about it. Some said that Baiyue was indeed a leading enterprise with such courage, but others were worried that their huge loss would directly affect the company's future development. As a result, the stock price fluctuated for a few days, but was quickly stabilized by Lu Ming's press conference.

Upon learning that the USB drive containing the project data had been brought back, Wen Chu was overjoyed. She became incredibly enthusiastic and began leading her team to continue optimizing and refining the system, striving to relaunch it as soon as possible.

There was a little incident during this process.

Baiyue needed to hire a spokesperson for another home appliance product. The marketing department shortlisted three popular celebrities with good reputations as candidates and then gave them to Lu Ming for final approval.

Wen Chu happened to be in the office talking to him when Lu Ming casually flipped through the document. Wen Chu then saw the identity information on the first page of the file folder, and Qi Siyan's name and that exquisitely beautiful face, resembling a BJD doll, caught her eye.

Then what she said turned into a surprised exclamation: "Huh?"

She stared wide-eyed, trying to get a closer look, but with a click, Lu Ming closed the file.

The marketing team was startled, thinking something had gone wrong, and quickly offered their explanation: "Boss, we've thoroughly vetted Qi Siyan. He recently has a new sci-fi drama that's doing very well and is expected to win year-end film and television awards. He has a highly loyal fanbase, strong ability to generate buzz and drive sales, and a positive, ambitious, and approachable public image that aligns with our promotional philosophy. Furthermore, he has no scandals, a good reputation, and outstanding looks. More importantly, Qi Siyan himself is interested in this collaboration and is very willing to make time for it. We originally considered him our first choice. Is there... a problem?"

"Is he a celebrity?" Wen Chu asked in surprise. She rarely paid attention to entertainment news. But when she heard this, she suddenly remembered that there seemed to be a big screen of him in the mall she went to a while ago. She glanced at it quickly, sighed that he was handsome, and left without leaving any impression, since she was a little face-blind.

Without hesitation, Lu Ming said, "Block this person, and make sure his name doesn't appear on any of Baiyue's business lists anymore."

"Ah... okay." The marketing manager was completely confused and didn't dare to ask any more questions. He assumed that the two of them probably had some kind of grudge in private, so he left.

Wen Chu knew exactly what Lu Ming was thinking, and said speechlessly, "Hey, isn't that a bit childish? I don't even know him in real life! You can't do that!"

Lu Ming lowered his eyes and said, trying to control his emotions, "It's better to be safe than sorry. I get angry just seeing him for a second."

Wen Chu rolled her eyes at him: "I'm not some heartthrob that everyone likes. You're sick. Sick, sick, sick, sick!"

Lu Ming gazed at her tenderly without saying a word, but what he was thinking was, "You are actually very charming, you just don't realize it."

On the other side, Qi Siyan sat back in the Italian Poltrona Frau limited edition curved sofa in the center of the living room, looking at the night view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, listening to her assistant report on the malicious targeting by Baiyue.

He touched the dark blue gemstone earring on his ear and said irritably, "You're crazy."

Six months later, the Companion Robot 2.0 was relaunched after applying for a technology patent. This time, the user experience was greatly improved, and it received countless positive reviews. It immediately sparked heated discussions at home and abroad, and many media outlets reported on it. Baiyue's stock price soared, generating huge revenue.

As the chief technical officer, Wen Chu's reputation soared, and she received numerous invitations to give lectures and hold seminars. Countless domestic and foreign companies wanted to poach her with high salaries.

While the commotion outside was deafening, the two parties involved were snuggled up on the sofa watching a movie.

After working non-stop for so long, we've only been able to date in the spare moments we have. Finally, we have a longer vacation so we can spend time together.

Lu Ming unwrapped a small cake, scooped a spoonful, and held it to Wen Chu's lips, who was engrossed in watching. Wen Chu opened her mouth without even looking and ate it, then slowly commented, "It's a little too sweet. It's just right for you."

Lu Ming took a bite himself and hummed in satisfaction.

The phone, which was lying to the side, rang. Lu Ming glanced at it and saw that it was Zhou Jiayang. He figured it wasn't anything important and was about to hang up without thinking. If someone tried to chat with him at this time, he would only want to kill him. But Wen Chu glanced at it and said, "Answer it."

Lu Ming answered the call, saying indifferently, "What do you want? You'd better have something on your mind."

"What's wrong with me calling you if there's nothing wrong? Are you with your wife again? Hey, you haven't shown up for a while, when are you going to get together? You made so much money this time, aren't you going to treat everyone to a meal? Don't be so heartbroken over your friends. I know it's not easy for you to finally find love, but at least spend some time with your brothers, right? When are you planning to bring your wife to meet us again? How about this week?"

"I'm busy, I have plans for the next two months. I'll contact you when I get back."

The two chatted for a while longer, but Lu Ming couldn't stand Zhou Jiayang acting like a loud, boisterous monkey, so he hung up the phone.

Hearing their conversation, Wen Chu turned over, rested her elbow on a cushion on Lu Ming's lap, propped her chin on her hand, blinked, and looked up at him: "What are your plans?"

Lu Ming smiled and said, "The temperature in Italy is just right this time of year. We can see snow and flowers, and there's a nice winery there too. I think you'll like it. Shall we go there for a month or two and then come back?"

"Great! I want to see the flower fields at the foot of the Alps! When are we leaving?"

"Then the day after tomorrow."

"The day after tomorrow?" Wen Chu checked the date on her phone, then looked up at the person teasingly: "How about I introduce you to my parents tomorrow?"

Lu Ming immediately tensed up: "So fast? Then I need to get ready quickly." He said, abandoning the movie, and quickly got up.

Wen Chu pressed her "headrest" back down: "No need to prepare anything, just buy a bouquet of flowers and bring two bottles of wine, that'll be enough."

The next day, Wen Chu, dressed in simple clothes, brought Lu Ming and flowers to the cemetery.

The weather was sunny, and many people came to sweep the tombs.

Today is the anniversary of Wen Shih-yang's death.

The person who usually quietly checks on her mood and tries to comfort her today is now holding her hand and standing on her right side.

They placed flowers and wine in front of the tombstone, and Wen Chu knelt down to stroke the peacefully smiling portrait on the tombstone: "Dad, bring him here for your examination. Although you've already examined him, he should be alright, right?"

Although half a year has passed since that experience, Wen Chu still feels a bit emotional from time to time.

Just like now, she feels like her father hasn't been gone for long. He has become clear in her memory again, and she will cherish and miss him for a long time.

The person standing beside her remained silent, simply gazing at the person in the photograph. Wen Chu casually leaned over to look at him: "What are you thinking about?"

“I find it amazing,” Lu Ming said. “I actually had the opportunity to meet your late father and gain his approval.”

He bowed deeply to the tombstone, his tone sincere and resolute: "I will not let you down. I will take good care of her."

Wen Chu smiled and looked down at the tombstone, thinking: Dad, I am very happy now.

You can rest assured now.

They all bowed to Wen Shiyang again.

Afterwards, they walked home hand in hand.

Wen Chu said excitedly, "Hurry back and pack your luggage, think about what equipment you need to bring, let's go go go!"

"The only one I need to bring is you."

"If you say that now, don't steal my down jacket when it gets cold up in the mountains!"

Lu Ming laughed.

"When will you take me to meet Aunt Yang?"

"That depends on your performance. I need to observe you further."

Lu Ming smiled and said, "Okay, I'm ready to be tested by you anytime."

He gazed at the woman holding his hand, his heart as soft as cotton candy, melting at the slightest touch, yet incredibly sweet with just a taste.

Wen Chu, I want to mix you a sweet wine that will never fade or melt, I want you to have a good mood every day, and I want you to be by my side every moment, so that my sun will never set.

Hope for good things.

We hope you are well, and we hope for you too.

The main text is over.

-----------------------

Author's Note: It's finally finished! Wishing Wen Lu a long and happy life together! I hope you think the ending is pretty good [pity]. I originally planned to stop at 350,000 words, but I ended up writing almost 500,000. This book has been with me for more than half a year, and the emotions involved are indescribable. I was really tired writing it three times because I was too busy. I crawled through dark times many times, but I still finished it word by word. It's not perfect, but it should be complete, right? I discovered many shortcomings during the writing process, and my writing skills weren't quite there yet, but some readers still persevered and read this far. Whether you read this far happily or gritted your teeth and frowned to finish it, I am very touched (and also nervous). Without your perseverance and support, I might have suffered even more while writing. Thank you so much. I will write extra chapters when I have inspiration [please]. I will continue to work hard and improve. See you in the next book!! Thank you for your company!
