Chapter 13: Chapter 13 detects that the male lead is developing feelings for someone...

Lu Ming was speechless. He turned off his phone and threw it on the bed. "I'm not playing anymore."

"Okay." Wen Chu was also tired of playing. She leaned back and let out a long sigh.

"The ice is melting." She poured another glass for the other person and then one for herself. Having something in her hands made her feel less awkward.

She looked up at the moonlight outside the window. "The moon is so beautiful tonight."

Lu Ming silently raised his head.

Neither of them spoke for a moment, only the sound of ice cubes hitting the glass could be heard.

The moonlight was bright, and the Milky Way stretched out before us.

Wen Chu sipped her drink, waiting for Lu Ming to speak to her first.

After a long while, when the cocktail in the bottle was almost empty, Lu Ming asked in a low voice, "Why do you like me?"

He lowered his eyes and gave a slight smirk: "What do I have to like?"

Looking at the moon, Wen Chu said, "Does liking something need a reason?"

Lu Ming pursed his lips: "Don't you need it?"

"Then why do you like Wen Xue?"

Lu Ming hadn't expected her to ask this. Normally, people wouldn't want to hear why the person they like likes another person, but the girl seemed more open than anyone else.

He pondered for a moment, then simply said, "Because she's good."

"So I'm bad? May I ask, is the person next to you Wen Xue or Wen Chu?" Wen Chu turned to look at him.

The girl's bright eyes shone like stars, twinkling even in the darkness. Lu Ming was involuntarily drawn to them. Listening to her calm yet slightly bittersweet words, he was momentarily lost in thought, his heart feeling a little uneasy. That fleeting feeling vanished in an instant, and he didn't even catch it himself.

He averted his gaze somewhat hastily, his brows furrowing slightly, as if reminding Wen Chu, or perhaps himself: "No matter what, the one I will always love is Wen Xue, and that will never change. There is no possibility between us."

Wen Chu smiled, not minding at all, and simply said, "Then let's be friends first."

A hint of surprise flashed in Lu Ming's eyes: "What?"

"Can't we be friends first if we can't be lovers?" Wen Chu gently tapped her wine glass against Lu Ming's, making a crisp sound. "Isn't it good to get along like this? I'll be there for you whenever you need me."

“No.” Lu Ming refused decisively, “I hate you.”

Wen Chu chuckled.

Lu Ming looked at her with a strange expression, seemingly unable to understand why this woman could still laugh.

Wen Chu placed her hands on her knees, looked at him and said, "Then tell me, what do you hate about me? I'll change, okay? I'll reform myself and start anew."

"You're hypocritical, selfish, inconsiderate of others' feelings, and simple-minded..." Lu Ming blurted out without thinking, as if it were a pre-recorded line, but then he suddenly stopped.

Wen Chu: "Hmm?"

Lu Ming seemed to be in a state of confusion. He tightened his grip on the wine glass, as if he had forgotten what he was going to say, or as if he did not quite agree with what he was about to say.

In the end, he only gave one conclusion: "In short, I will not like you. The person I like is Wen Xue, even if she doesn't like me."

Wen Chu raised an eyebrow slightly: "You were right, she wants to break up with you?"

"How dare you say that? You're such a jinx." Lu Ming glared at her fiercely, then looked at the moon outside the window and said self-deprecatingly, "If we weren't together, what kind of breakup is that?"

Wen Chu nodded apologetically: "Okay, it was my fault, I shouldn't have said that."

"Stop pretending. You're actually quite happy inside, aren't you?"

"yes."

Lu Ming was shocked by her honesty.

Wen Chu shrugged: "If you insist on me telling the truth, there's nothing I can do."

System: "Detected that the male protagonist is experiencing depressed emotions."

Lu Ming downed the wine in his glass in one gulp. "I've never seen a woman like you before."

"There are plenty of beautiful girls you haven't met." Wen Chu turned to the side, resting one hand on the edge of the bed, looking at him with a hint of frustration: "Can't you be a little happier every day? Stop being so full of negative emotions. Isn't there anything that can make you happy?"

She hasn't gathered many positive emotions from the other person so far. If this is really paving the way for the future, then she'll be facing a melancholy block of ice every day.

Just thinking about it gives me a headache.

Lu Ming casually rested his hands on his knees: "Is there anything that makes me happy?"

"Of course! Look at the night view tonight, it's so beautiful. The breeze blowing in is cool, and we can hear the insects chirping in the flower beds downstairs. That's something to be happy about."

"Even if nothing good happens around us right now, we can still embrace nature. Nature is always there, full of vibrant life. Spring, summer, autumn, and winter, different seasons, different feelings. Just quietly feeling it for a while can calm our hearts. Anyway, when I'm unhappy, I like to stay like this for a while."

Wen Chu looked up at the moon, pondering whether the real world and this world shared the same moon. She was a little drunk, her mind wandering, and she even thought that if she couldn't go back, she would find a way to launch herself into space and then take a passing satellite back to Earth.

As Lu Ming listened to the man's passionate and energetic speech, a subtle smile appeared on his lips: "It turns out that simple-minded people find happiness in simpler ways than ordinary people."

Wen Chu gave him a light punch: "How can you be like this? I'm trying to comfort you, but you're still mocking me. Do you have any conscience at all? Besides, I'm not stupid. I won a national innovation award in junior high school."

"You? Middle school?" Lu Ming suddenly laughed. "I think you're just drunk and talking nonsense. There's nothing shameful about admitting you're stupid."

You're the stupid one!

"I'm stupid? I even won a national scholarship in junior high school."

The two drunkards bantered back and forth, and Wen Chu's head was getting dizzier and dizzier. She felt like there were little people swaying in front of her, but her brain was becoming more active. She couldn't help but smile.

She shook her head slightly, reminding herself that the task wasn't finished yet, and she shouldn't close her eyes and fall asleep.

She turned her head and looked at the person, asking, "Are you happier now?"

Lu Ming also turned his head slightly, looking at the girl's bright smile. He was momentarily lost in thought, and his blood, which had been stagnant, gradually came alive and began to flow again without him realizing it.

"No." He looked away and continued stubbornly, "You're not Wen Xue, your presence isn't enough to make me feel better."

System: "Detected that the male protagonist is experiencing pleasure."

Wen Chu buried her head in her arms and smiled, thinking that it was a good thing this guy couldn't hear her cheat voice, otherwise his face would definitely be in pain.

Lu Ming frowned and looked at her, puzzled: "What's so funny?"

She touched her burning face, thankfully the lights were off, so Lu Ming couldn't see anything unusual about her.

She lifted her head from her arms and asked, "Hey, have you ever seen the sunrise at the beach?"

Lu Ming's eyes flickered, then darkened again: "No."

"Shall we go see it tomorrow morning?" Wen Chu took out her phone and glanced at the time. It was almost 11 o'clock, and there was only one hour left before the other party was initialized.

"us?"

"Yeah, besides me, who else can go watch the sunrise with you?"

Lu Ming turned his head away, his jawline taut, and said to save face, "Don't think of yourself as so important. I have plenty of people around me."

"Where?" Wen Chu looked left and right. "It seems like no one's here. Are you referring to Aunt Sun?"

Lu Ming was getting angry at her sassy attitude and was about to explode when Wen Chu softened up and agreed, "Okay, okay, you have a lot of people who love you."

Wen Chu fanned her face with her hand to relieve the heat brought on by the alcohol.

She braced herself with one hand on the ground and moved a little closer to the person next to her. Lu Ming looked at her hesitantly, "What...are you doing?"

Wen Chu leaned close to his ear and whispered, "I hope you have many people who love you. But of all those people, I love you the most."

Lu Ming's eyes trembled violently, his heart began to beat uncontrollably, and his cold blood seemed to warm up rapidly and then boil, flowing to every part of his body.

His breathing quickened, an indescribable emotion welled up, and his ears turned red at a visible speed.

The girl's sweet scent surrounded him, like a gentle embrace.

He moved his lips, as if to say something, but no words came out. His Adam's apple bobbed incessantly. After a long moment of stunned silence, he finally managed to call out the girl's name: "Wen Chu..."

System: "Detected that the male protagonist is experiencing joy."

System: "Detected that the male protagonist is moved."

Before he could finish speaking, he felt a weight on his chest as the girl's forehead rested lightly on his right shoulder, a suggestive and flirtatious gesture.

His heart skipped a beat, his jaw clenched, but he still managed to push the person away with reason, saying, "No! Don't do this..."

But under his influence, Wen Chu fell backward, and just as her head was about to hit the bedside table, Lu Ming reacted and quickly used his hand to block it, letting her rest her head on his palm.

He then realized that the girl's eyes were already closed.

"Hey, Wen Chu."

No one answered.

Lu Ming frowned: "Wen Chu?"

I could hear the even breathing sounds around me.

Asleep?

Lu Ming's feelings were somewhat complicated. He straightened the person and leaned back against the edge of the bed, silently feeling embarrassed for his misunderstanding.

He muttered, "Didn't we say we'd watch the sunrise? I haven't agreed yet."

System: "Detected that the male lead is experiencing anticipation."

The bedroom fell completely silent. Lu Ming stared at the girl's sleeping face for a while, his eyes unfathomable, as if he were thinking something.

He then gave a slightly bitter laugh.

On one of the countless nights he longed to end it all, he found himself looking forward to the sunrise the next day.

The moon hangs high outside the window, seemingly growing brighter and brighter.

Wen Chu shifted uncomfortably, leaning her body against his shoulder once more.

"Don't rush me, you big devil, I can finish writing it tomorrow and send you the packaged file..." the girl mumbled drunkenly.

"What document?" Lu Ming looked down at her, asking instinctively, "The... Demon Lord?"

His question didn't get a response from the girl, but that didn't stop him from chuckling to himself, "So you've really started working now?"

Remaining in that position, Lu Ming gazed at the moon outside the window for a while.

The chirping of insects in the flowerbed downstairs continued, and a gentle breeze occasionally blew in, ruffling the two people's hair.

Lu Ming stood up, gently picked up the girl, and left the bedroom.

The servants downstairs, who were chatting quietly in the living room, all witnessed this scene.

Lu Ming opened the guest room door, gently placed Wen Chu on the bed, and glanced at her again before leaving. He paused, went back over to cover the girl with the blanket, and then closed the door and left.

In the quiet night, the beeping of the system and the notification sound came from the ethereal sky above the girl's head: "Detected that the male lead has developed feelings of attraction."

Wen Chu scratched her head in her sleep, turned over, found a comfortable position, then kicked the blanket off with her legs and draped it over herself before falling into a deep sleep.
