Chapter 36 I'm falling...

Chapter 36 Chapter 36 I'm falling...

Wen Chu nodded, and after everyone left, she casually walked up to Lu Ming and asked, "Why did you come up here too? Did you come to see me?"

Lu Ming looked at her coldly: "I don't have the leisure to come to the rooftop to admire the moon and chat with others."

Wen Chu quickly explained, "What a coincidence. I can't join in what you're talking about, and staying there would only disturb you. I might as well come out and get some fresh air."

"You have nothing to say to them, but you can talk endlessly with Qi Siyan?"

"Him? I've known him since childhood, so I'm more familiar with him. Besides, his mentor is so amazing, what's wrong with me learning from him?"

"You call someone you've known for less than a week an acquaintance? What brand of self-heating hot pot are you? How can you become acquainted so quickly?"

Wen Chu was amused. She leaned closer and looked the man's face up and down, pondering, "You wouldn't actually be... jealous, would you?"

Lu Ming simply said, "If you don't want to attend this kind of gathering, you can just tell me. I won't do anything to you."

"No, it's just that I felt a little awkward because you were talking about Comin, and it seemed like I was preventing you from speaking freely."

Wen Chu continued, "I think we shouldn't make such a fuss about our relationship. Otherwise, the title of 'sister-in-law' won't even be warmed up before it's abruptly cut off. That would be so inappropriate. I don't know if we'd be more embarrassed or your friends would be. It would be such a waste of other people's feelings. And it would be so awkward if we ran into each other at some banquet."

Lu Ming's eyes flickered, a hint of confusion flashing across them: "I thought this was the result you wanted. Didn't you always like to appear around me, pretending to be very familiar with me? You never explained yourself when others teased you, which made Wen Xue ask me if there was something going on between us."

Ah... really? How come I didn't know that? Just as Wen Chu was thinking this, a memory popped into her mind, the scene being a university campus.

She would plan exactly where Lu Ming would appear, deliberately sitting very close to him. Taking advantage of the fact that Lu Ming wouldn't directly kick her out at that time, she created an ambiguous illusion that they were studying and eating together, attracting passersby to praise them as a perfect match. The original owner thoroughly enjoyed this false prosperity.

Wen Chu touched her nose somewhat embarrassedly: "Uh, that was before... People have to grow up eventually, they can't always live in an illusion."

"In that case, I'll forget about Lu Mingxiao asking me to take you out more often." Lu Ming turned and walked away. Wen Chu paused for two seconds, then quickly caught up and grabbed his arm. "Huh? Well, that's still okay! What we just talked about didn't include that. Where are we going? Just the two of us?"

This is a great opportunity to increase her favorability! She's been looking for one!

Lu Ming stopped and glanced at her sideways: "Don't you dislike living in an illusion? Let me tell you very clearly, I'm going out with you for no other reason than to complete the task he gave me. In the end, I'm the one who benefits, so I'm not forcing you to agree." He paused for a second and added, "You'd better not agree either."

Ignoring the last sentence, Wen Chu hurriedly said, "No, no, I agree! When are we going? Where are we going?"

Lu Ming asked her coldly, "Are you sure you don't want to think about it again?"

"What's there to think about? Of course I agree. Where are we going?" Wen Chu asked excitedly, following behind him.

The ice in Lu Ming's eyes slowly melted away. He strode forward and said in a muffled voice, "We'll talk about it later. Let's go down first. We'll sit for a while longer and then go back."

"good!"

Lu Ming's legs were long; one step could cover two steps of Wen Chu's. Wen Chu jogged up to him and poked her head out: "There's still the competition to think about. If you're still worried, you can test me anytime. I'll prove my strength and put your mind at ease."

Lu Ming stared at her intently for a few seconds before finally whispering, "I understand."

They returned to the private room, where the music had stopped. The others were unsure whether the three of them had gone out and returned one after another as a coincidence or not. They knew that the relationship between them was not good, since both Qi Siyan and Lu Ming looked like they were not to be trifled with. At this moment, they didn't know who to talk to first.

Chen Shihao had no choice but to speak to Wen Chu: "Sister-in-law, is it because we neglected you in some way that you felt bored? Or did we say something that made you uncomfortable? Please tell us, and we will definitely pay attention and make improvements!"

"Oh, no, no, I just finished using the restroom and suddenly realized the weather was nice tonight, so I decided to stay outside for a while."

Chen Shih-hao joked, "As soon as you left, Brother Lu's mind flew away. He was so distracted when he spoke. Seeing that you hadn't come back for so long, he immediately went to look for you, afraid that something had happened to you and that we were worried too. We thought we had upset you! At first, we were a little hesitant to believe the news that Brother Lu was in a relationship, but now that we see how worried he is, it's true."

Wen Chu glanced at Lu Ming, who had no expression, and silently tugged at the corner of her mouth. How could she tell from this that he cared about her?

But to play along, she had no choice but to take Lu Ming's arm, press her cheek against his arm, and smile, acting like a naive girl surrounded by love: "Of course it's true. He's like this, he likes me a lot but he's also very shy, there's nothing he can do about it."

Lu Ming's arm muscles stiffened slightly. He looked down at her without saying a word. To others, he seemed genuinely embarrassed, but only Wen Chu knew that he was saying he was speechless.

Zhou Jiayang patted Lu Ming on the shoulder and teased, "Brother, you need to change this. You have to say it out loud. You can't always have this long face. No matter how good-tempered your girlfriend is, she'll argue with you one day. You can't date like this. If you really don't know how, I'll teach you. I have some experience."

Lu Ming glanced at him speechlessly.

Qi Siyan leaned back on the sofa, looked up at him, and slowly made sarcastic remarks: "President Lu, if you don't cherish what you have, don't regret it when you lose it."

Wen Chu coughed, and with everyone praising her, she felt even more guilty.

Lu Ming pursed his lips in response to everyone's earnest advice, then took Wen Chu's wrist and sat back down, seemingly accepting their suggestions. He humbly said, "I will change."

Then, with a look of disdain, she said to Zhou Jiayang, "Take care of your own relationship problems before you try to teach me."

Wen Chu laughed even harder, and jokingly asked, as if flirting, "Will you really change?"

Lu Ming looked at her, his speechless expression barely contained, but outwardly he reached out and smoothed a small tuft of hair sticking up on her forehead, then said gently, "Yes."

"Hey, if you two want to flirt, go home and do it there. I'm not used to seeing you like this!" Zhou Jiayang shoved Lu Ming to stop, then touched his arm, indicating that he was getting goosebumps.

“Yeah, it’s so sweet it’ll make your teeth ache!” another man chimed in.

Wen Chu smiled sheepishly, though she was also quite uncomfortable. She sat up straight and quietly tidied the hair that Lu Ming had touched.

Not long after, Lu Ming made an excuse to leave. Everyone had had enough fun, so they dispersed with laughter. They said goodbye at the door, and Wen Chu finally got into the passenger seat to go home.

Qi Siyan glanced deeply at the man and woman who had gotten into the same car, then got in as well, slammed the door shut, and sped away ahead of them, leaving only the hum of the engine behind.

Wen Chu heard this and craned her neck to look at the rear of the other car: "Damn, what brand is Qi Siyan's sports car? It's so cool."

"Why don't you call him and ask him to bring it back so you can see for yourself?" Lu Ming said expressionlessly.

Hearing that sarcastic tone, Wen Chu shrank back and chose to keep quiet. She started looking through the car's playlist and found that it was all soothing light music, probably already installed in the car.

"Don't you listen to music while driving?" Wen Chu was a little speechless.

"If you want to listen, just connect via Bluetooth. I don't usually have the leisure for that."

"That's exactly what I was thinking." Wen Chu swung her legs, lowered her head, rolled her eyes, and withdrew her hand from the pop DJ song she was about to play, instead choosing a sweet and lively English love song.

Every time she hears it, her heart, which is as hard as an iron tree, melts for a moment, and she wants to fall in love.

A light and cheerful intro played in the car. Wen Chu secretly glanced at the driver, Lu Ming. His expression remained indifferent, but perhaps because of the music, the atmosphere in the car seemed to have improved, and the hostility emanating from him gradually dissipated.

Wen Chu rested her chin on her hand on the car window, leisurely listening to music while glancing at the person in the driver's seat. The person in the driver's seat would occasionally glance at her out of the corner of their eye, then quickly look away.

Wen Chu didn't ask why, and the other person didn't ask why she kept looking at him. In the quiet car, only the melody containing the lyrics "I'm falling in you" kept playing. The smile on Wen Chu's lips involuntarily became more and more obvious.

Upon arriving at the residential complex, everyone should have gone home to end their fulfilling day. However, after getting out of the car, Wen Chu remembered Lu Ming's back injury, so she squeezed into his home without much effort.

"Sit a little closer." Wen Chu placed the medicine box on the bed and took out a medicated ointment specifically for treating sprains and bruises and promoting blood circulation.

Lu Ming had already taken off his shirt with practiced ease and silently took a step toward where she was sitting.

Wen Chu first applied a hot towel to the man for fifteen minutes, then spread the ointment evenly on her own hands before pressing it onto the wound near the man's shoulder.

Although he was prepared, Lu Ming's muscles still tensed up involuntarily when he felt the woman's hand touch him. The alternating pain and warmth from her palm made his breathing a little erratic.

Then Wen Chu's palm moved down step by step, gradually landing on his last wound near his waist, where the bruising was more severe than the others. Seemingly afraid of hurting him, the person behind him stopped.

Lu Ming turned his head and glanced out of the corner of his eye. He saw Wen Chu squeeze some more ointment onto her fingertips, then touch his waist with her fingers and gently rub it in circles, trying to spread it out. Then she slowly expanded the area and massaged it with her palm.

Lu Ming felt uncomfortable when his waist was being rubbed. The slight pain, along with the sensitive itching and the warmth between the girl's fingers, created an indescribable sensation. He clenched his fists and endured it, but finally, his Adam's apple bobbed rapidly and he couldn't help but grab Wen Chu's wrist.

Wen Chu: "?"

Lu Ming's breathing became heavier, and he said in a low voice, "I can handle this myself. You can leave now."

Wen Chu pulled her hand away from his, looking puzzled: "I've already applied half of it, why are you separating it like this? Just apply it all at once, and it'll be fine after a little more pressing."

"I..." Lu Ming was about to refuse again when Wen Chu's hand went up to him again, covering his waist. He was caught off guard and felt like he was being electrocuted, which made him clench his hands even tighter so that he could not avoid it.

Lu Ming glanced back at the woman behind him with a troubled expression. Unfortunately, she looked very serious and showed no sign of teasing him. A hint of frustration flashed in his eyes, and he turned his head away again, silently gritting his teeth and remaining silent.

The only thing to do is try to distract yourself and calm your mind.
