Chapter 49 Chapter 49

Chapter 49 Chapter 49

"What are you gushing about?" Lu Ming walked over from a distance, casting a tall shadow on Wen Chu. The setting sun shone golden on his profile, highlighting his high nose, thin lips, and impeccable features.

Wen Chu propped her head up and looked at the person, somewhat lost in thought. She really was a sucker for good looks.

Lu Ming looked down at her: "One tea base is jasmine, the other is Da Hong Pao. Which one do you want?"

"Ah, um..." Wen Chu shifted her gaze from the man's face to her hands, both surprised and conflicted: "It's so hard to choose... You just happened to pick the two drinks I like the most, I really want to drink them both."

"Then you can have them all."

"I can't finish it, I'm not a water buffalo."

Lu Ming sat down next to her and declared in advance, "I won't drink what you've already drunk."

It means you can't drink both cups; if you can't finish them, you can throw them to him.

"You're overthinking it. I didn't think that way." Wen Chu glared at him, reluctantly parted with the crimson robe, took the jasmine from his hand, inserted a straw, and took a deep drag.

The setting sun cast long shadows of them, their heads subtly touching.

Lu Ming opened the umbrella again to shield her from the sunlight.

Wen Chu bit her lip, a habit still in her mouth, and silently curled the corners of her lips.

Her heart, unusually calm after arriving in this world, couldn't help but wonder, watching the people come and go, what truly matters? The faces of the crowd before her vividly displayed joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, much like her own world. But were the people around her... truly real?

A couple suddenly approached and said, "Hello, could you help us take a picture with this mascot?" The woman pointed to the giant rabbit mascot that was the sign of the amusement park next to them.

"Oh, okay." Wen Chu patted her bottom, stood up, and handed the unfinished milk tea to Lu Ming.

"Thank you!" The couple handed her their camera and then stood next to the bouncy doll. The man put his arm around the woman and laughed happily, making a peace sign with his hand on her shoulder.

Wen Chu adjusted her phone, crouched slightly, and dutifully found the right angle before asking, "Ready? Time to shoot! Cheese!" She pressed the shutter, took a few more pictures, looked at them herself, and then handed the camera back to the two of them, asking, "What do you think, are they okay?"

"Thank you so much!" the woman said with a smile, then asked, "Would you like us to take a picture of you two too? You and your boyfriend are so good-looking! If it were me, I'd love to take a picture of you with my camera!"

"Huh?" Wen Chu looked at the man who was holding two cups of milk tea on either side of him, waiting for him to come back. She thought it was a good idea. This guy always forgot things, so he should really write them down. So she waved to him: "Hey, Lu Ming, come here!"

Lu Ming, puzzled, put the milk tea aside and walked over, looking at him with a questioning gaze.

"Then I'll have to trouble you!" Wen Chu said to the couple with a smile. Without asking Lu Ming's opinion, she grabbed his arm and pulled him to the doll's side. The doll seemed to be very enthusiastic towards Lu Ming, craning its head to look at him from side to side, and then lively posed in place, cooperating perfectly.

Wen Chu stood next to the doll, keeping a distance that was neither too close nor too far from Lu Ming. She didn't expect him to do anything, so she leaned her body slightly towards him and tilted her head. The two of them stood together like a couple who had just started dating and were still very young and inexperienced.

The woman's technique looked much more professional than Wen Chu's; she must have taken many photos before. She instructed, "Handsome, can you try the left side a bit more and stand up a bit more?"

Lu Ming was suddenly forced into this situation. He glanced at Wen Chu without showing any emotion, and followed the woman's instructions to lean against her.

Wen Chu was very good at reading people's expressions. If the other party showed strong resistance, she planned to take a picture as is. But Lu Ming's tolerance seemed to be even higher, so she mustered up her courage and took his arm, like a couple, with their shoulders touching.

Lu Ming's eyes flickered for a moment, then he glanced at their arms that were leaning together. After a moment of internal struggle, he ultimately did not pull his hand away.

The woman across from her, who was adjusting her focus, saw this and immediately and discreetly pressed the shutter, then turned to her boyfriend and whispered, "Isn't it pretty?"

Her boyfriend nodded.

Wen Chu turned her head to look ahead, smiling as she reminded people, "Look at the camera! Look at the camera! Smile!" Then she gave a peace sign.

Lu Ming looked ahead again, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"Very good, very good, I'm going to take the picture!" the woman said, pressing the shutter button and capturing the moment at sunset.

Seeing this, the doll next to her also joined in. Wen Chu, who thought the filming was over, let go of her hand and turned to look at Lu Ming. Just as she was about to say something, the doll stuck out its bottom, made a "hmm" sound, and bumped into Lu Ming's arms. Lu Ming subconsciously supported her waist.

Unwittingly, they stumbled into each other's eyes, and in the amber-colored crystals illuminated by the sunlight, their reflections were clearly visible.

It was impossible to tell whose heart had skipped a beat, causing ripples to spread across its surface.

"Hey, that's good, stay still!" the woman in the distance exclaimed excitedly, quickly capturing the moment. The doll next to her stood with its hands on its hips, striking a victorious pose, seemingly quite satisfied with its performance.

"Okay!"

Upon hearing this, the two took action. Lu Ming withdrew his hand from the girl's back, and Wen Chu looked away, blinked a few times, and silently distanced herself.

The couple walked towards them, and the woman said enthusiastically, "How about we exchange contact information? I'll send you the photos when I get home!"

"Thank you, that's too much trouble!" Wen Chu took out his phone and exchanged contact information with the woman, thanked her again, and then they parted ways.

They sat down again by the flower bed, continuing to drink their unfinished milk tea. The atmosphere was a little awkward. Wen Chu said nonchalantly, "You see, there are still more good people in the world. Go out and walk around more, feel the kindness between strangers, and you'll find that the world is a beautiful place. Don't always have such a long face."

"There's plenty of inherent malice between people; you just haven't experienced the harsh realities of society yet," Lu Ming said calmly, pouring cold water on the situation.

Wen Chu rolled her eyes at him. "Are you rested enough? If you are, we can continue."

"I should be the one saying that. I'm the one keeping you company while you rest. I'm not tired at all."

"Okay, okay," Wen Chu replied dismissively.

They went canyon rafting again, and even though they were wearing raincoats, they still got splashed with water by the rapids.

As the boat suddenly plunged downstream, Wen Chu tried to reach out to shield Lu Ming from the water on his head, but her own hat fell off, splashing water onto her neck and cheeks, leaving a cold, wet feeling. She giggled and screamed along with the crowd, shrinking her neck and dodging around, her body twisted and turned. Seeing her in such a sorry state, Lu Ming hurriedly tried to put her raincoat hood back on, but Wen Chu was moving around so much that he couldn't find the right spot.

Another stream of water hit them, and their postures became quite comical. Wen Chu hurriedly bent down and hid in Lu Ming's arms, still trying to hold onto his raincoat hood tightly. Lu Ming, on the other hand, was pulled by her and had to lower his head, turn to the side, and stretch out his arms to barely protect her small body in his arms.

The two men disembarked from the boat like brothers in misfortune, taking off their soaking wet raincoats, their trouser legs and hair dripping wet. But Wen Chu was having a great time, teasing Lu Ming as she circled around him, saying, "Hey, who is this? Which company's CEO is so disheveled?"

Lu Ming wasn't actually very wet. He looked at the woman, who was several times more disheveled than him, and was speechless. He put the attached towel over the woman's head and rubbed it. "Don't you even look at yourself? How dare you talk to me like that?"

"That's how you have fun!"

"You should be glad you took off your makeup at noon."

Wen Chu pouted, "It's your loss that you didn't see my exquisite makeup this morning."

Lu Ming glanced at her, let go of her hand, and said irritably, "Dry yourself off."

"How about we go play again?"

"The sun has already set. If you don't want to catch a cold tonight, you should give up the idea." Lu Ming wiped his damp clothes.

"Okay..." Wen Chu pulled off the headband, letting her hair fall loose, and vigorously rubbed it a few times with a towel. Her dejected mood of not being able to do it again didn't last three seconds before transforming into a sly smile. She leaned forward and reached for Lu Ming's head, "Let me wipe yours too!"

"No need—" Unfortunately, before Lu Ming could finish speaking, his head was covered, and the woman retaliated by ruffling his hair. Lu Ming couldn't dodge, and with his vision blocked, he staggered as she ruffled his hair several times before finally managing to grab her wrist.

He closed his eyes, scratched his messy hair, and said helplessly, "Wen Chu, sometimes I really want to put you in a satellite and launch you into outer space."

Wen Chu laughed even harder: "What a coincidence? I thought of that too!" She tried to pull her hand away from the man's, but he held on tighter and tighter. Her wet hair fell down, half-covering his deep eyebrows and eyes, making his gaze appear much gentler. He stared at her without blinking, without saying a word.

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward again, and Wen Chu's smile became a little unnatural: "What... are you doing?"

Lu Ming applied a little more force, pulling her closer to him.

Wen Chu slowed her breathing for a moment.

Unexpectedly, the other person simply smoothed her sticking-out hair back and then let go.

...

What are you doing? You scared her.

They followed the map and arrived at the giant pendulum ride. Wen Chu stood below, watching the people being tossed around and hearing the horrific screams, and hesitated to go any further.

"Do you want to sit here?" Wen Chu turned to ask uncertainly.

Lu Ming looked up at the scene above and said, "I'm fine with anything, go ahead and have fun if you want."

"That……"

“But I suggest you don’t, we’ll be having dinner soon. Do you want to throw up again?” Lu Ming added.

"Then I won't go!" Wen Chu said readily. "I can't let this affect my appetite."

"Hmm." Lu Ming breathed a sigh of relief almost imperceptibly.

They then tried a few less thrilling activities. The sun dipped below the horizon, and the sky gradually darkened.

Wen Chu was a little tired from playing and felt hungry. She wobbled along with the person next to her and said, "Let's go eat."

"Um."

"Where should we eat? The food here isn't very good value for money. How about we go out and find some food stalls?"

Lu Ming raised his wrist and glanced at his watch: "Let's go."

Wen Chu followed the group, full of curiosity, and finally arrived at an ocean-themed restaurant.

They went inside, where it was spacious and luxurious, but dimly lit. The overhead lights slowly changed color, and soothing piano music played in the air. The innermost wall was transparent, connecting to the deep blue underwater world, where they could see schools of fish passing by and corals shimmering on the surface—it was truly dreamlike.

Many tourists sat facing each other, leisurely eating and chatting, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

Lu Ming seemed to have already reserved a spot, leading her to the innermost part of the room, where they sat down in front of a clear viewing glass window that was both quiet and offered a great view, allowing them to observe the underwater creatures up close.

Blue ripples spread across Wen Chu's body as she stared intently at the school of fish, watching them wag their tails and swim in groups, circling around.

"This place is great!" Wen Chu exclaimed. Rich people really do have ways to enjoy life. "You booked it so early? When did you do that?" Aren't they always together?

"Let's order." Lu Ming pushed the menu in front of her.

Wen Chu grinned at the person, surprised that this seemingly insensitive individual was actually quite perceptive...

They had a rare harmonious meal together. Midway through, a small fish passed by and even blew a bubble at Wen Chu through the glass, as if it were kissing her.

Wen Chu said proudly, "Look, look, even Xiaoyu likes me! That's how charming I am!"

Lu Ming cut a piece of beef and put it in his mouth, glancing at her: "Maybe he's just hungry."

"Isn't this just a feast for the eyes?"

"...You win."
