Chapter 54. You can come over and try it tonight. ...
Lu Ming glanced at her indifferently. Wen Chu was prepared to be ridiculed and rejected, and even had a second plan in mind. But she saw him put down his chopsticks, roll up the sleeves of his shirt to his elbows, pick up a clean plastic glove, put on one layer, then another, and then start peeling it off.
Huh? So easy to talk to?
Wen Chu's words caught in her throat. She stared at the man for a moment, her fake smile froze slightly. She poked her forehead with her chopsticks, looking at the man who was peeling shrimp with his head down.
Although the other person's face was expressionless, her eyes gave her the illusion of gentleness.
While she was lost in thought, Lu Ming had already peeled the first piece and put it into the bowl next to him.
The little round-headed boy, who was in the kitchen, leaned against the kitchen door frame, shrank his head, covered his mouth and chuckled. He looked like he was about to punch the wall, as if he had bumped into something.
"What are you looking at?" another maid asked curiously, peeking over.
Xiao Yuan pulled her to peek through the doorframe, "Did you see that! Young Master is peeling shrimp for Sister Wen! They really are together, it's so sweet!"
Another maid laughed and said, "I guessed it. We've never cooked lobster at home before. The young master seems to be allergic to seafood and never eats anything with shells. But when he suddenly called yesterday to say he was going to send some over, I knew something was wrong."
"Really? I arrived late, I really didn't know! Well, I'll tell you something you definitely don't know!" Xiaoyuan said, her face turning red, and her mouth almost stretched to the back of her ears.
"What?"
Xiao Yuan put her arm around the other person's shoulder and whispered in their ear, "I saw the young master and Miss Wen at the door last night..."
The other maid covered her mouth after hearing this, her eyes shining: "Really??? My God! I can't believe it! Did things develop that fast?!"
The two people at the dinner table were completely unaware of the gossip in the kitchen. To make it easier to eat shrimp, Wen Chu simply changed seats and sat down next to Lu Ming. Her elbow lightly brushed against Lu Ming's arm, but he didn't say anything and continued peeling shrimp silently.
As Wen Chu dipped the shrimp in the broth and popped them into her mouth, she offered emotional support: "Wow, you peeled them so well!"
"Oh my god, my boyfriend peeled these shrimp for me! I'm so happy!"
"Can you eat in peace?" Lu Ming glanced at her sideways, changed his gloves, pinched off a shrimp head, and said in a very low voice, "So fake..."
Seeing that the bowl was almost empty, Wen Chu realized that the other person had worked hard all this time without eating a single bite. Suddenly feeling guilty, she picked up a piece, dipped it in the soup, and stuffed it into the other person's mouth, saying, "You have one too!"
Lu Ming's pupils contracted sharply, and he vomited instantly.
But the taste still spread in his mouth.
Wen Chu was dumbfounded. "Is it really necessary to be so disgusted?"
Lu Ming didn't have time to explain and rushed into the kitchen to rinse his mouth.
Ten minutes later, Wen Chu, like a guilty criminal, meekly applied medicine to Lu Ming in the bedroom.
"You can't eat this? Why didn't you say so earlier... Then why did you buy it in the first place..." Lu Ming's clothes were half pulled off, and Wen Chu was applying ointment to the red rashes on his body.
Lu Ming didn't want to talk anymore. He put his hands on his knees and resisted the urge to scratch.
Wen Chu suddenly realized something, looked up at the person's expression, and said, "So... you specifically asked Aunt Sun to make this for me?"
Lu Ming gripped his hand tighter. He hadn't expected the other party to discover this in such a dramatic and accidental way, and for a moment he didn't know how to explain it.
He underestimated this woman's tendency to cause trouble.
"Can you concentrate and hurry up with the application?" he said irritably, looking down.
"Oh." Wen Chu's fingertips brushed against Lu Ming's skin, and then pulled the man's clothes down a lot, exposing half of his back and chest. Lu Ming glared at her for her rude behavior.
Wen Chu explained innocently, "What's wrong? You have red patches here and there, it's so weird, I have to look carefully. Your allergy symptoms are just as troublesome as you." She looked down at him, but he turned his face away and wouldn't look at her.
Wen Chu exclaimed, pinched Lu Ming's chin and turned his head back, looked him up and down, and said with a smile, "But you know what, you don't have any rashes on your face, just a little red, which has a unique charm."
"Don't you have any decent words to use?"
"Yes." Wen Chu poked his cheek with her index finger, leaned close to him, and whispered, "I said you look strangely good like this."
Lu Ming's Adam's apple bobbed, and he awkwardly slapped her hand away. "It's daytime, please tone down your attitude."
Wen Chu continued teasingly, "You mean, we don't have to be so reserved at night?"
Lu Ming's face was flushed, making him look even younger, but the look in his eyes was quite the opposite, and he said meaningfully, "You can come over and try it tonight."
Wen Chu felt a sudden burning sensation on her ear.
It's not fun.
I'm not playing anymore.
She obediently shut her mouth and diligently applied the medicine, but Lu Ming clearly didn't want to let her off the hook. He tilted his head, his serious tone hiding a hint of mischief, and asked, "Why did you stop talking? I thought you were going to say something earth-shattering."
"I'm a coward, I'll shut up," Wen Chu readily admitted.
Lu Ming gave a soft chuckle.
On Monday, they went to the company together. Wen Chu was wearing the same outfit that Lu Ming had bought for her at the company last time. She looked beautiful and capable, like a graceful white butterfly.
They got out of a car and walked side by side into the gate of Baiyue Group, receiving nods and greetings from employees along the way.
The news of the two's weekend date at the amusement park had already spread, and even the company executives who had opposed hiring Wen Chu wisely kept quiet, convinced that Lu Ming's move was to become Wen's son-in-law.
Lu Ming went straight to the conference room as soon as he got on the elevator, while Luo Wen took Wen Chu to the thirteenth floor to find her studio.
Luo Wen stopped in an empty office next to Lu Ming's office, opened the door, and invited Wen Chu in. The office was clearly freshly cleaned, spotless and tidy, with only a laptop on the desk. Further inside, there was even a small lounge with a bed.
"This doesn't look like an office, it looks like a lounge."
“Yes.” Luo Wen said truthfully, “This was originally for the boss to rest in, but he doesn’t use it often. After you came, Miss Wen, President Lu modified it.”
"Did he sleep in that bed?" Wen Chu looked inside.
"I slept there, but the sheets and everything have been changed."
Wen Chu smiled enigmatically. This guy said he wouldn't agree, but he actually did a pretty good job.
She then walked to the other wall connected to Lu Ming's office, pulled up the blinds, and the upper part was transparent. The blinds on the other side were not lowered, so Lu Ming's desk could be seen directly.
Their positions are relative.
Wen Chu raised her eyebrows slightly in surprise, and the corners of her mouth turned up a little more.
This guy left in a hurry without even stopping at the office to rest. Could it be because his actions and words were completely contradictory, and he was too embarrassed to face her?
She chatted with Luo Wen, saying, "Look how much he likes me; he even needs to see me at work."
Luo Wen was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and agreed, "That's right. It's clear that the boss cares a lot about Miss Wen. If Miss Wen needs anything else, just let me know."
"That's all, that's good. You can go now, I'll start working," Wen Chu said with satisfaction.
It was almost ten o'clock when Lu Ming returned to his office. Wen Chu paused in her coding, watching him push open the door, enter, and sit down at his desk.
She rested her chin on her hands, watching the man, now dressed in a suit and tie, with a leisurely air, waiting for his gaze to fall upon her. After seeing him as a young, handsome man for two days, this new look seemed quite appealing.
But the other person seemed to be deliberately refusing to look this way, sitting in the chair staring at the computer and starting to type. After a while, Luo Wen went in again and said something to him. Lu Ming looked thoughtful, then nodded and said something. The soundproofing was very good, and Wen Chu couldn't hear anything.
After Luo Wen left, Wen Chu couldn't contain herself any longer. She walked to the glass wall and knocked on it. Lu Ming glanced at her, but didn't come over. He picked up his phone, typed a few words, put it down again, and continued reading his documents.
Wen Chu pursed her lips, walked back to her desk, and picked up her phone.
Boyfriend: [Get back to your work.]
Wen Chu typed a few words in reply: 【You're just staring at me like that, it's very distracting.】
Lu Ming finally stood up and walked towards her. Wen Chu's eyes lit up, but as soon as he got close, she was about to speak when he ruthlessly pulled the blinds shut.
...
That damn guy!
When Wen Chujian's flirting attempt failed, she lost interest, pouted, and went back to her seat to get back to work.
Lu Ming stared blankly at the information on famous domestic and international jewelry designers lying beside him. After a long time, he finally looked up at the wall, which was blocked by the curtains.
Ten minutes ago.
Luo Wen walked in to report on today's agenda. Lu Ming listened and nodded, then asked abruptly, "What did she say?"
Luo Wen was taken aback at first, but quickly realized who the pronoun referred to and replied, "Oh, Miss Wen is very satisfied with the new office and said that you really like it."
"...You can omit the last sentence."
Luo Wen thought his boss was shy, so he smiled and said "oh".
Lu Ming coughed and said, "Could you keep an eye on the recent jewelry auctions for me and see if there are any high-quality rough stones up for auction? Also, could you compile a list of domestic and international jewelry designers for me?"
“Oh, the research is done. This is it. Each page details the designer’s personal information and portfolio, as well as the designs of their most famous jewelry pieces.” Luo Wen handed the paper documents to the person. “There’s an auction this Friday. Apparently, they’ll be auctioning a rare natural pink diamond. It’s also said to have an auspicious meaning, which would be perfect for Miss Wen.”
Lu Ming's expression hardened as he looked at the list, and Luo Wen couldn't help but feel nervous. "Is there a problem?"
"When did I ask you to do this?" Lu Ming asked in a low voice.
"Just yesterday." Strangely enough, he hadn't thought about it at all when he came over this morning, until he saw the organized character information on the table and suddenly remembered that he had worked overtime to organize it yesterday. He asked hesitantly, "Is there a problem? I'll go and revise it again."
"It's nothing." Lu Ming relaxed his slightly furrowed brows, then changed the subject: "But, did I say it was for her?"
Luo Wen paused for a moment, then chuckled dryly, "No, but who else could you give it to if not Miss Wen?"
Lu Ming was speechless and said in a muffled voice, "You can leave now."
He looked through all the listed designer styles, circling a few that he was relatively satisfied with, but his mind was still unsettled. Lu Ming turned his gaze away from the blinds, his worries deepening.
He had even forgotten what he had said yesterday.
