Chapter 80 Qi Siyan…could it be that he likes her…?
Wen Chu had been tidying up upstairs since early morning and was waiting. As soon as she heard any noise downstairs, she pressed her ear to the door to listen.
A knock sounded at the door, and Wen Chu immediately opened it. Qi Siyan stood in the doorway, dressed casually, and smiled at her: "You're right on time!"
Wen Chu asked furtively, "Did my parents really not say anything?" After she finished speaking, she looked downstairs.
“If I were here, would I still be standing here? Don’t worry, your brother and I have already spoken up. Besides, I’m still well-liked by Uncle Wen and Aunt Yang, okay? After all…” Qi Siyan looked at her, narrowed her eyes slightly, and hesitated.
"After all what?"
Qi Siyan said awkwardly, "After this kind of news... they probably think it's normal for me to come to you, right?"
Wen Chu finally understood that although her relationship with Qi Siyan hadn't been affected by the rumors, in other people's eyes, they might be a couple in the making...
If we're talking about the most legitimate man to be by her side right now, it's Qi Siyan.
If they get photographed together again today... wouldn't that confirm their relationship?
Wen Chu hesitated for a few seconds, then put those thoughts out of her mind.
It's ridiculous! That despicable couple has already gone abroad for fun, and she's still hesitating here?
She has wronged no one, and she will not give up her freedom for anyone. Let the outside world say whatever they want.
Wen Chuchao smiled and said, "That's true. Never mind, let's go, I'm suffocating, I need to go out for some fresh air."
Wen Chu pretended to be calm and pushed Qi Siyan downstairs. Wen Shiyang and Yang Lan saw her, then looked at Qi Siyan, and indeed didn't say anything. They were kind and gentle, but only instructed, "Siyan, when you take her out, you have to keep a close eye on her and not let her run around."
Qi Siyan smiled and glanced at Wen Chu: "Don't worry, I promise I won't take my eyes off her for a second."
Yang Lan couldn't help but smile.
Wen Chu ignored him and kept walking outside.
She smoothly got into Qi Siyan's stylish blue convertible and breathed a sigh of relief.
She resisted the urge to ask others about Lu Ming's recent situation, not wanting to ruin her mood, but a certain part of her chest felt uncontrollably blocked, and she tried her best to ignore it.
Wen Chu touched the center console and various corners of the sports car and exclaimed, "That's really cool."
Qi Siyan smiled and said, "This car is limited to only three units worldwide."
Wen Chu was even more shocked and gave him a thumbs up.
Qi Siyan's smile deepened. "If you like it, I can give it to you."
"No, no, no... twice is enough."
"That's true, if I'm going to give you a gift, I should give you a brand new one."
"No, no, no, I really don't need it!"
After chatting for a while, Qi Siyan turned to her and asked in a light tone, "Where are we going now?"
Wen Chu thought for a moment: "Should I pick out a gift for you?"
Qi Siyan suddenly stepped over the center console, leaned towards her, and fastened her seatbelt: "No rush. If you don't have anywhere you want to go, just come with me. Didn't you say you were going to grow mushrooms after staying at home for so long? Let's relax and have some fun today."
Faced with the man's sudden approach, Wen Chuxin's heart skipped a beat, and she felt a little uncomfortable, but she didn't say anything and just nodded hesitantly.
Qi Siyan drove to the parking lot of a private high-end club, which was clearly not a place that ordinary people were qualified to enter.
Wen Chu followed the person inside, and after seeing them show a gold VIP card, the host led them inside. She found that this place was much larger and more upscale than the one next to Baiyue, with all kinds of entertainment facilities, extremely luxurious, and a huge area.
"Let's skip tennis today and try something else. Have you ever ridden a horse? The horse farm recently added a few horses, one of which I heard is very gentle, suitable for beginners, and very comfortable to ride."
Wen Chuxin asked curiously, "I don't know how, but I can try."
Qi Siyan smiled and said, "Then let's go change our clothes."
Wen Chu was "forced" to wear an equestrian jacket, riding breeches, riding boots, and a helmet, completely wrapped up. Qi Siyan, on the other hand, only had an extra protective vest on.
She adjusted the helmet on her head to a more comfortable position and asked in a puzzled tone, "You dressed me in so many clothes, but you yourself are so lightly dressed?"
Qi Siyan raised an eyebrow slightly: "You're a newbie, but I'm not."
He had the stable staff bring over the new horse, stopped it in front of Wen Chu, and said, "Touch it."
Wen Chu looked at the tall, brown horse that had stopped in front of her. The horse was still panting and seemed to feel the wild power of nature.
Somewhat hesitantly, she reached out and stroked the horse's head and neck, causing it to stamp its feet twice. Feeling no aggression, Wen Chu relaxed considerably and stroked the horse more freely.
"Touch it before you ride it to increase its affection for you, so that it's less likely to throw you off when you ride it later," Qi Siyan teased.
"Huh?" Upon hearing this, Wen Chu quickly and sincerely stroked its face for a while, even pressing her forehead against its cheek.
"Alright, alright, this horse gets far more benefits than a person in five minutes. That's enough. Come on, step onto the platform. Don't be nervous. If you fall, I'll catch you immediately." Qi Siyan explained gently, extending her hand to her. "You can hold onto me."
Wen Chu shook her head, indicating that she wanted to rely on herself. Under the man's guidance, she finally managed to get on the horse after a lot of effort. She gripped the reins tightly, her body sitting upright and stiff, not knowing what to do next, and looked at the people below for help.
Qi Siyan stood below and laughed, "Very good, at least it didn't resist you. Now relax a bit, squeeze the horse's belly a little with your calves, and it will start running."
Wen Chu tried, squeezing her already tense calves together, but the horse not only didn't run forward, it took a few steps back, which startled her several times. She snorted twice in panic and looked at Qi Siyan for help again.
Qi Siyan smiled even more at the woman's gaze and said gently, "Loosen your grip, because you're holding the reins too tight."
The reins were her source of security. Wen Chu was afraid that if she let go, the horse beneath her would rush out like an arrow, but she still chose to trust Qi Siyan's words, gradually loosened her grip, and tried again.
Her heart was in her throat when the horse finally started moving forward. A look of delight crossed her face as she looked at Qi Siyan and exclaimed, "Hey? Let's go!"
The man's gaze followed him closely, and the curve of his lips deepened: "You can loosen your grip a little more, put more effort into your calves, and it will run even faster. To stop it, remember to sit up straight first and pull the reins hard."
Wen Chu persevered and tried several times before finally getting the hang of it. With her heart pounding as if she might fall off at any moment, she was driven along by the horse, which stimulated her adrenaline to soar.
At first, she was a little uninterested, only wanting to get some fresh air and relax by letting Qi Siyan out. But she didn't expect that once she started playing, she would play until dark, and only reluctantly came out when she felt hungry.
Horse riding, shooting, archery, golf, bowling... she doesn't usually have time to do these things, so she found it really interesting to try them out—especially since there was someone who was both fun-loving and patient teaching her.
Qi Siyan spent almost the entire day playing with her, explaining the essentials of horseback riding and shooting, and the differences between different types of bullets and guns. For a moment, Wen Chu forgot all about the mission and strategies, only remembering the gust of wind from the drawn longbow beside her ear, the aftershock of pulling the trigger, the wind on horseback, and the speed and jolting.
But amidst her joy, she also noticed something amiss.
Qi Siyan was being far too nice to her.
He was incredibly patient and considerate; he even prepared a change of clothes for her after she had played all day and taken a bath—a new dress. Although he was a gentleman, he shouldn't have gone to such lengths for her.
"I just remembered, today isn't a day off. Are you sure the company is okay with you coming out with me like this?" Wen Chu sat back in the car, fastened her seatbelt, and turned her head to ask.
"Knowing I was going to come out with you today, of course I prepared in advance and finished everything I needed to do. You don't need to worry about that. More than that, I care more about—are you happy today?" Qi Siyan turned to look at her with his blue eyes, gentle and warm, his pale pink lips curved slightly.
Wen Chu nodded. "Of course I'm happy. I've been the one playing the whole time, and you've been teaching me... But you—" She paused, then asked thoughtfully, "Are you happy?"
"Me?" Qi Siyan tilted her head at her. "Do I look unhappy?"
"You haven't been playing anything, don't you get bored?"
"Why would I be bored? Making you happy is also a way for me to find happiness."
"Wen Chu, don't underestimate your ability to bring joy to others." Qi Siyan started the car and turned the steering wheel. "People who are with you should never be bored."
Wen Chu smiled sheepishly, feeling that something was off.
She touched her forehead, and a guess suddenly popped into her head.
Qi Siyan...could he like her?
Whenever a man's gaze fell upon her, she would subconsciously want to look away. Wen Chu originally thought it was because she wasn't familiar with him, so the eye contact was awkward. But now that she thought about it, it seemed that it was because Qi Siyan's gaze was sometimes too intense, mixed with strong and complex emotions, and she subconsciously didn't know how to respond, so she couldn't resist and always wanted to avoid him.
But she had never been in a relationship before, so she couldn't be too presumptuous. What if it wasn't true? As for his behavior, he didn't do anything inappropriate. Even when he was teaching her how to hold a gun, he only accidentally brushed against her finger, and he still apologized.
Wen Chu sat obediently in the passenger seat, her hands clasped together, lost in thought.
She seems to have no idea what it means to like someone and what it means not to like someone.
When Lu Ming confessed his feelings to her, she was quite taken aback. Even though she knew the progress of his feelings, she still couldn't tell which stage she had passed to call it liking, and which stage she had passed to call it love.
He said that the person he loved was Wen Xue, and he said it with such certainty.
Wen Chu's heart suddenly ached again, and her clasped hands unconsciously tightened.
He clearly had no affection for Wen Xue; it was just a subconscious feeling implanted deep in his memory.
The human brain and heart seem to be able to generate two different thoughts. One represents rationality, and the other represents emotion. Obviously, Lu Ming is extremely rational, and his brain's thoughts can firmly control his heart.
The pain brought her back to her senses; why was she thinking about that guy again?
Don't think about unpleasant things when you're happy. Wen Chu steadied herself, banishing the other person's image from her mind. She didn't want to delve into how the other person and Wen Xue would be living a life of debauchery and recklessness without her intervention, or what they were doing right now.
A ringtone sounded in the car; it was Qi Siyan's phone. The man picked it up, glanced at it, then put it down again, casually asking, "Where do you want to eat tonight?"
"I'm fine with anything. I just want to find a place where I can get a full meal, but not one of those restaurants where a dish costs 1,000 yuan and 999 yuan of that goes to the labor and skill involved."
Qi Siyan was amused by her again: "Okay. Let's go to a well-known Western restaurant nearby. The prices are reasonable, the value for money is quite high, and many people go there."
He turned the steering wheel, and Wen Chu had no objection.
When they arrived at their destination and parked the car, Qi Siyan unbuckled his seatbelt and got out. He wanted to open the car door for Wen Chu, but Wen Chu had already gotten out herself and asked him, "Which one?"
Qi Siyan pointed to a restaurant with a glittering facade and was about to speak when her eyes froze, as if she had seen something unpleasant. She stiffly lowered her hand and walked in front of Wen Chu, blocking her view of the restaurant.
He smirked, trying to cover up his misunderstanding, and said, "I suddenly remembered that someone also gave this place a bad review, saying that the steak wasn't fresh and that it would give you diarrhea. How about we go to another place?"
Wen Chu noticed his unusual behavior and moved aside on her own. She then peered at the transparent curtain wall of the restaurant behind her, and her heart clenched suddenly.
The figure I hadn't seen for days was now sitting by the window, opposite a woman who was dressed up. The two were having dinner in harmony, chatting and laughing, enjoying themselves immensely.
Breathing slows down, thinking slows down, and the surrounding noise and crowds seem to disappear.
She was the only one left standing on the wide street, watching the two people sitting in the warm, brightly lit restaurant, enjoying the beautiful evening.
There was silence in my ears.
Wen Chu stood rooted to the spot, her neck taut, her fingernails silently digging into the back of her hand, the pain spreading through her hand.
She stared intently at the transparent glass wall, almost to the point of self-torture, as if trying to remember this sweet moment between the two of them.
