Chapter 252: Escape plan

Gina paced nervously in the living room, her mind a storm of guilt and bitterness. When the door finally opened and Claudia stepped inside, her breath hitched. Relief flickered across her face. Her feet moved instinctively toward Claudia but froze mid-step as the flood of memories of their heated arguments filled her mind. The sting of abandonment still lingered. Her expression hardened, resentment bubbling to the surface.

Claudia, standing just inside the doorway, felt the weight of Gina’s gaze. Their eyes met, and for a fleeting moment, she wanted to close the distance, embrace Gina, and soothe the guilt that clearly tormented her. But when Gina’s eyes flicked away and she turned aside, the moment shattered. The cold wall between them loomed large.

Gina’s bitter words from their last argument rang in her ears. The courage to step forward abandoned her, and she stayed rooted in place.

The charged silence between them was abruptly broken by Keith’s sharp and commanding voice. "Gina, go pack your things."

Gina’s head whipped toward him, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. "Pack my things? What are you talking about? Where are we going?"

"Can you stop asking questions?" he snapped, glaring at her. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"No," Gina shot back. "I want to know what’s going on. And if you can’t be honest with me, then don’t expect me to blindly follow you."

Keith’s temper flared, his voice rising like a crack of thunder. "Gina, I’m already on edge. Don’t push me right now."

"Push you? You locked me up in this house! You’ve been treating me like a prisoner. And now you expect me to just fall in line? No, I deserve answers!"

Keith opened his mouth to retort, but before he could unleash his fury, Claudia intervened, placing a firm hand on his wrist. "Keith, stop...Getting angry won’t solve anything."

Turning to Gina, Claudia softened her tone. "Sweetheart, please. Let’s not fight right now. There is no time to explain everything. We have to leave quickly."

Gina’s expression faltered, her anger wavering as she searched Claudia’s face for answers. "Why can’t you just tell me now?"

Claudia stepped toward her. "I’ll tell you everything once we are safe. Right now, we have to move. Let me help you pack."

She reached out to hold her hand, but Gina pulled her hand back. "I don’t need your help." She stormed into her room.

"We are leaving in half an hour," Keith shouted from behind. "So be quick."

Without listening to his warning, Gina slammed the door shut behind her. She muttered curses under her breath, her insides burning with indignation.

"But what is the hurry?" she wondered. "Where are they going?"

Suspicion clouded her features. Gina realized something had happened. "Maybe Theodore has taken action against them," she mumbled in a daze.

Her hand flew to her mouth, her breathing catching in her throat. "He might have found evidence against them. The cops might be after them. That’s why they are planning to leave in a hurry."

Gina’s face turned pale as she thought of getting caught and spending the rest of her life in jail. "No, I can’t go to prison. I can’t survive there."

Running away with them meant she was also part of their crime. Theodore and the police wouldn’t spare her. "No, I can’t fall into trouble because of their crime."

She made up her mind, her resolve hardening. "I’ll tell Theodore everything."

Reaching for her phone, she dialed his number. The call was connected after a long ring. "Hello, Theodore," she said in a hushed tone. "Claudia and Keith are planning to escape."

"Are you sure?" Theodore’s skeptical voice rang out of the phone.

"Yes...They will be leaving in half an hour."

Theodore’s eyebrows furrowed in doubt. "Why are you telling me all this?"

"Because I am not a part of their crime," Gina explained. "I don’t want to be involved with them. They conspired to kill your father."

Theodore’s ears perked up, and his posture stiffened. The revelation hit him like a thunderbolt. "What did you say? They killed my father." He had only suspected that Claudia had conspired to kill his father. But when he heard Gina’s claim, he couldn’t help but be shocked.

"I don’t have time to explain everything now," Gina said hurriedly. "I’ll tell you later. Right now, you need to stop them and help me out. I don’t want to go with them."

"Thanks for telling me all this," Theodore expressed his gratitude toward him. "I promise I won’t let them get away. Keep me updated."

"I will."

As he ended the call, his face turned murderous. "Claudia," he snarled. "Your end has come. Don’t even think of getting away." He dialed Skyler.

As soon as the call connected, Theodore informed everything he had learned from Gina. "Bring them for me. I want to have some words with them before handing them to the cops."

"We won’t let them escape," Skyler assured him. "They will be soon our grasp."

Half an hour later...

"Gina," Keith shouted, banging on the door. "Aren’t you done yet?"

Gina opened the door and met his gaze, her expression guarded. She wouldn’t let them leave the house until Theodore arrived.

Keith’s eyes flashed with anger when looked at Gina’s clothes scattered on the bed. "You didn’t pack your bag yet? Why are you taking so long?" he barked.

"I’m not prepared for this," Gina retorted defiantly. "I need time."

"Time is the luxury we don’t have," Claudia chimed in. "We need to get out of here right now. Don’t worry...I have packed enough clothes that you can also use. Let’s get out of here first." She held her wrist.

"Give me some time," Gina urged, shoving her hand away. "I’ll pack my bag."

"There is no need," Keith interjected, stopping her. "You can buy whatever you need. Let’s get out of here now."

Grabbing her hand, he hurried out of the house, Claudia following them. But they came to a halt when they saw Skyler with several men in black suits blocking their way.

"What is the hurry, Mr. Willis?" Skyler approached them, his shoulders squared. "Let’s talk for a while."

Keith’s face turned pale when he saw them. His plan to get away unnoticed was dashed. He turned around to run away, but the guards rushed over and encircled them. Both Claudia and Gina clung to him on either side, their eyes darting around.

"Where do you think you are going?" Skyler scoffed. "You think you can get away after what you have done. Nah..." He waggled his finger, approaching them. His gaze locked onto Keith. "Your place is in jail, and we are here to take you there."
