Chapter 139: Escaping Danger
The series of unexpected events left Zhou Cheng stunned in place, his mind blank. Su Qingyan, who was wet and cold, collapsed on him after vomiting. He reflexively hugged Su Qingyan to prevent him from falling off the bed.
The doctor who had just changed Zhou Cheng's dressing was the first to respond. He pressed the call bell, asked Su Qingyan to lie on the bed, and took the stethoscope and placed it on his chest.
Zhou Cheng finally came back to his senses, quickly took off his blood pressure cuff, tied it around Su Qingyan's arm, then got out of bed and pressed the measurement button on the monitor.
During the action, the IV needle on the back of Zhou Cheng's hand was pulled off, and blood dripped down his hand onto the bed sheet.
Zhou Cheng couldn't take care of himself at all now, and was anxiously waiting for the blood pressure reading.
Lu Ze was so frightened by this sudden accident that he was completely taken aback. The sudden ringing of his cell phone almost made his heart, which was already beating in his throat, jump out.
It took him several swipes before he got through.
"Is Xiaoyan with you? Hurry up and take him back to the ward and push him back in a wheelchair." Su Chonglin's tone was very anxious.
Su Qingyan's blood test results just came out, and his hemoglobin level was only 83g/L, while a normal adult male's level would be 120g/L.
"The doctor is already...coming."
As Lu Ze spoke, several doctors and nurses hurried into the ward and surrounded Su Qingyan.
"Can't measure blood pressure?"
The blood pressure readings on the monitor kept coming back wrong, so Zhou Cheng pressed it again.
The nurse skillfully opened an intravenous access for Su Qingyan, and the liquid flowed into his blood vessels at full speed through the needle.
"Director, two intravenous accesses have been opened." The nurse reported to the director.
The director frowned as he looked at the second blood pressure measurement result, which was only a shaky 66/31 mmHg, and the heart rate had soared to 131 beats per minute.
"Open two more lines, full-speed fluid infusion, emergency blood draw, 80mg of omeprazole intravenous push, 8mg continuous pump every hour."
The director continued to give medical orders in an orderly manner.
Zhou Cheng really couldn't understand why Su Qingyan suddenly had gastrointestinal bleeding, and it had already progressed to the level of hemorrhagic shock.
Zhou Cheng stood anxiously beside the bed, staring at Su Qingyan all the time, occasionally looking up at the values on the ECG monitor.
Su Qingyan lay on the bed with a frown on his face. He tried to get up restlessly, his body trembling all the time.
After a while, he suddenly turned sideways and vomited a few mouthfuls of blood. After vomiting out all the blood in his stomach, he slowly calmed down.
"Take him to the intensive care unit."
Seeing that Su Qingyan's blood pressure had not risen, the director made a prompt decision.
Zhou Cheng knew that he couldn't just follow people into the ICU, but he still asked for permission, and was indeed turned away.
He stood at the door of the intensive care unit, staring at the closed door, feeling mixed emotions.
Su Chonglin also rushed over soon. He asked Zhou Cheng what had happened to Su Qingyan in the past few days and why he had such severe blood loss.
Zhou Cheng was speechless for a moment. He had no idea what Su Qingyan had been doing these days, so he looked at Lu Ze for help.
Lu Ze gritted his teeth and began to explain.
"I just... drank a few too many glasses... I've been having stomachaches these past few days, and the painkillers have helped a little..."
Hearing Lu Ze say this, Zhou Cheng felt more and more guilty.
He must have been drinking because they had been breaking up a few days ago, but how could he be so stupid as to take painkillers when he had a stomachache after drinking?
If I were by his side, this kind of thing would definitely not happen, but what's the use of saying it after the fact?
"Xiao Zhou, go back to the ward and rest. You are seriously injured." Su Chonglin felt very uncomfortable when he saw Zhou Cheng's injuries.
Zhou Cheng was starting to believe in metaphysics again. The bracelet they had prayed for at the temple had broken in the US, and he'd been saying he'd go get another one, but for various reasons, he'd never been able to.
It seems that this kind of thing really cannot be delayed.
Zhou Cheng decided to go to Heyan Temple immediately after returning to Mincheng.
Su Qingyan was treated in the intensive care unit by several chief professors in turn. Finally, his vital signs were maintained and plasma was slowly transfused into his body.
Zhou Cheng stood outside the door for a long time, but finally couldn't bear it anymore and sat on the chair next to him.
His left wrist had just been fixed, but he had struggled to free it in a hurry and was now screaming in pain.
Zhou Cheng held his left wrist with his right hand and leaned against the wall, his regret reaching its peak.
I will never play around with Su Qingyan again.
"Doctor Zhou, please go and take care of your wrist first. It looks swollen." Lu Ze said hesitantly to Zhou Cheng.
Zhou Cheng shook his head and refused.
"If your hand leaves any sequelae, Qing Yan will definitely be heartbroken... He might even let the entire hospital be buried with him..."
Zhou Cheng smiled bitterly. This was indeed something Su Qingyan could say.
I just don’t know if I’ll be able to hear it again in the future.
"Tell me if anything happens."
Zhou Cheng finally left the ICU door and returned to the ward to continue his treatment. Before leaving, Lu Ze handed him the phone that he had not had time to return.
Zhou Cheng knew very well that in his current condition, both mentally and physically, he would be a burden to Su Qingyan's treatment.
In the ward, the doctor re-fixed his left wrist and the nurse inserted an IV again.
The doctor became a little worried when he saw that Zhou Cheng had no reaction at all. How could he not say a word despite all these injuries, big and small?
"If it hurts too much, you can take some painkillers." The doctor finally spoke.
Zhou Cheng nodded and kept looking at his phone.
About 3 hours later, the door of the intensive care unit was pushed open.
Su Chonglin and Lu Ze walked over immediately.
"The patient is out of danger for now. For safety reasons, he will be observed in the intensive care unit for 24 hours before returning to the general ward."
"Is he awake?" Su Chonglin looked into the intensive care unit.
"Uh... he did wake up just now, but he was very agitated and kept asking to see his family. Considering his condition is still unstable, he was temporarily sedated."
"When can we go see him?" Lu Ze asked.
"Not yet. We'll let you know as soon as we can."
Zhou Cheng's various test results came back, and he wasn't as carefree as he'd appeared to be. The doctor immediately ordered him to stay in bed, forbidding him to leave his bed without permission.
"You're a doctor yourself, but you don't understand the severity of your condition? If you keep doing this, I'll put you into hibernation."
Zhou Cheng's attending physician couldn't stand his stubborn attitude, and no longer cared about their background, so he threatened him a few times.
"Once he's out of danger, you can do whatever you want."
The doctor sighed helplessly, then took out his cell phone and quickly tapped on the keyboard for a while, then turned the phone around so Zhou Cheng could see the screen.
Zhou Cheng sat up suddenly.
