Chapter 154 I Can't Do It
Early in the morning, before dawn, Zhou Cheng and Su Qingyan boarded the private plane.
Su Qingyan forced himself to keep his sleepy eyes open and yawned continuously.
"We can still make it later, why do we have to leave so early?" Zhou Cheng laid the seat flat and took a blanket.
"Other things can be delayed, but this one can't." Su Qingyan didn't lie down, but took Zhou Cheng's hand.
"Are you nervous?" Zhou Cheng held his slightly cold hand and said with a chuckle.
"I'm not nervous, I just don't want you to get beaten."
"Don't worry, you will definitely be beaten."
“…”
"You've seen Lao Zhou's violent temper before."
Su Qingyan sighed. He really wanted to go there himself and have a good talk with Zhou Cheng's parents. Maybe the matter could be resolved peacefully, but Zhou Cheng kept saying that he wanted to do it himself, so he had no way to intervene.
After the plane took off, Su Qingyan fell into a drowsy sleep. Zhou Cheng was so confused that he dared not close his eyes. He didn't know what kind of chaotic scene was waiting for him.
After flying for more than 2 hours, the plane landed smoothly at the airport, and Su Qingyan was fully refreshed.
The driver had already prepared the car and breakfast was neatly placed on the table in the car.
"Don't your parents have to work today?"
Su Qingyan took a bite of toast and asked vaguely.
"They don't have classes today, so they're at home."
Zhou Cheng's heart wasn't as calm as he appeared. He was so anxious he couldn't even eat. Yesterday, after he told his mother he was going home, she hadn't pressed the issue, which had alarmed him. He wondered if this was the calm before the storm.
When they arrived at the community, the security guard saw the executive stretch business car and immediately came out to register it. The news that "a rich relative has come to the Zhou family" quickly spread throughout the community.
The driver and bodyguard moved several boxes of gifts to the front door of Zhou Cheng's house and left. Zhou Cheng clenched his fists and rang the doorbell.
When Mother Zhou opened the door, she was met with Zhou Cheng's fearless face. Beside him, Su Qingyan smiled very cautiously. She felt her heart skip a beat; it looked like this was going to be a real mess.
"Auntie, I'm here to have some tea." Su Qingyan raised the tea gift box in her hand, which was obviously very valuable.
"Come in." Cheng Muxi nodded.
Zhou Cheng silently moved the things in one by one. Father Zhou also walked to the entrance. Su Qingyan came over with tea leaves, and the two of them began to study the tea leaves together.
When Cheng Muxi saw them leaving the entrance, he walked over to Zhou Cheng and asked him in a low voice:
"Mingming, what exactly are you going to do?"
After Zhou Cheng put away the last gift box, he stood up straight, looked at his mother with a serious expression and said:
"You know everything, don't you?"
"I don't know." Cheng Muxi's heart was completely chilled when he heard this, and he could only continue to avoid it with a stubborn face.
"I'll explain it to you later." Zhou Cheng hung up his coat and walked into the living room.
Su Qingyan was standing in front of the tea table in the living room, explaining to Mr. Zhou the various kinds of tea he had brought.
"Zhou Cheng said you like Longjing tea. This box contains the best quality Longjing tea from the five major producing areas of Shilong, Yunhu, and Humei. Would you like to try Shifeng first?"
"Okay, sit down and talk." Father Zhou smiled rarely.
In the past, Su Qingyan had always had others make tea for him, and he had rarely done it himself. However, after watching many times, he had some basic skills, and today he actually showed off his skills himself.
Seeing how happy he and his father were, Zhou Cheng felt reluctant to disturb them and wanted to turn around and leave.
"Auntie, I also brought you some nourishing supplements. Zhou Cheng, please give them to your mother quickly." Su Qingyan took the time to instruct Zhou Cheng, who had been standing there stupidly.
Zhou Cheng was shocked when he heard Su Qingyan calling his mother. Why did she call her mother directly?
"Why did you bring so many things, kid?" Mother Zhou looked at the gift boxes in embarrassment.
"Because I like you guys." Su Qingyan continued to make tea for Mr. Zhou, showing off his seemingly superb tea art.
Zhou Cheng's parents had never heard such a straightforward statement before, and they were embarrassed and did not respond.
Su Qingyan didn't think much of it. He started chatting with Zhou's father about calligraphy and paintings, and kindly invited him to Mincheng to visit Su Chonglin's various private collections.
Only then did Zhou Cheng realize that Su Qingyan must have done a lot of homework before this and was fully aware of his father's preferences.
He began to feel out of place again and numbly followed his mother to the balcony.
"Xiao Su's mother sent me a lot of flowers a few days ago, and I transplanted them into pots."
Cheng Muxi took Zhou Cheng to the balcony and let him see the beautiful flowers.
Zhou Cheng was feeling weighed down by the issue of coming out and showed little interest.
After the two of them were silent for a while, Cheng Muxi closed the balcony door.
"You...you guys..." She hesitated, not knowing how to start.
"Mom, I actually--" Zhou Cheng didn't hesitate any longer and wanted to say it directly.
"Don't say it." Cheng Muxi suddenly lost control of his emotions, covered his face and turned around, his shoulders shaking slightly.
Zhou Cheng stood there helplessly seeing her like this. He thought he would be blamed or even beaten, but he didn't expect his mother to just cry silently.
It would be better to be beaten.
Zhou Cheng has always felt that he has little need for family affection, and his feelings towards his parents can even be said to be indifferent, but now his heart seems to be grasped, and the sour feeling spreads from his heart to his fingertips, and his ten fingers feel like being pricked by countless densely packed small needles at the same time.
The depressing and stagnant atmosphere lasted for a long time. Through the door, I could faintly hear the sounds of talking and laughing in the living room. It seemed like two different worlds separated by the door.
"You really don't want to consider it again?" Cheng Muxi still had her back to Zhou Cheng. She was still delusionally hoping that he could "get back on track."
"I came back after thinking it over." Zhou Cheng took a step forward. "I don't want to hide it any longer. This is disrespectful to you and Su Qingyan."
"I don't want you to be like this. Can't you be like other children? Even if you're not outstanding, just being ordinary is fine."
"I can't do it." Zhou Cheng answered firmly.
"I can't control you. Go talk to your dad. If your dad agrees, I'll agree." Cheng Muxi turned around and looked at Zhou Cheng with tears in her eyes.
Zhou Cheng pursed his lips. He knew his mother very well. She had always been submissive and had no opinion of her own. When trouble arose, she would just hide behind his father. Taking a step back, even if she agreed, it would be of no use to him because her father would not approve of it.
Zhou Cheng opened the balcony door and returned to the living room.
"...I know that. Old Su told me that before. He always said I was uneducated and had no taste. I even argued with him about that. Now it seems to be true."
"You're young."
"The bloodline will awaken in a few years, right?"
Su Qingyan chatted with Zhou's father with a smile on her face.
Zhou Cheng gave him a wink, but was glared at by Su Qingyan, so he had to change his route and go to the kitchen to wash the fruit.
