Chapter 60: Turning Danger into Safety
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when the ambulance arrived.
Su Qingyan lost his previous energy and began to feel confused again. He watched Zhou Cheng still talking to the doctor calmly. The various professional terms made him feel more confused, and the voices from the outside world seemed to be getting farther and farther away.
Amidst the chaotic scene of the attack, Zhou Cheng first explained Su Qingyan's current and past medical history to the doctor, hoping to have blood drawn immediately upon arrival at the hospital to confirm her condition. After settling Su Qingyan's concerns, he allowed the doctor to examine his own gunshot wound. Turning back, he saw on the monitor that his oxygen saturation had dropped to 70%, while his blood pressure and heart rate remained acceptable.
After arriving at a well-known local private hospital, Su Qingyan and Zhou Cheng separated. Zhou Cheng was wheeled off to a CT scan, while Su Qingyan went straight to the ward. The doctor knew they were both serious, and although he wasn't happy about the patient directing the treatment, he still performed various tests on Su Qingyan according to Zhou Cheng's requirements.
Zhou Cheng's CT scan was completed quickly. The bullet did indeed enter the right lung, causing hemothorax, but fortunately it was still a few millimeters away from the right superior pulmonary artery and did not cause serious bleeding. The right arm that was grazed by shrapnel did not touch the major nerves and should not affect the fine movements of the fingers.
After hearing the doctor's conclusion, Su Qingyan lay back down on the hospital bed. Seeing Zhou Cheng's right arm injured, he was most worried about whether it would affect his future surgery. If Zhou Cheng could no longer perform surgery because of him, he would definitely blame himself for the rest of his life.
The doctor continued to tell Su Qingyan that surgery was necessary to remove the bullet as soon as possible, and there were several surgical options available.
Su Qingyan wanted the doctor to ask Zhou Cheng directly, after all, Zhou Cheng was the professional. But then he thought, Zhou Cheng would definitely take the cost of the operation into consideration and choose the most cost-effective method. It would be better for him to make the decision himself. It would definitely be right to use the best of everything.
Zhou Cheng persevered after being shot. By the time he finally arrived at the hospital, everything was in place. Under the combined pressure of blood loss and oxygen deprivation, he began to drift off. While being wheeled into the operating room, he vaguely saw the Da Vinci surgical robot and, believing he must be hallucinating, lost consciousness as a mask was placed on him.
An hour later, Su Qingyan's test results came back, and indeed, his liver function had skyrocketed. Zhou Cheng's surgery was also over; the bullet had been successfully removed, with no significant damage to his vital organs. His condition remained stable.
After Zhou Cheng was awakened by the anesthesiologist, he saw the legendary Leonardo da Vinci again in a daze. On the way back to the ward, his consciousness gradually became clear.
As soon as I returned to the ward, I saw Su Qingyan already asleep.
"How are his test results?" Zhou Cheng hurried to ask the doctor.
The doctor said he didn't know and wanted to ask Su Qingyan's attending physician.
Zhou Cheng glanced at the bodyguard standing beside the bed. The bodyguard went to find the doctor reluctantly. After he left, another bodyguard came in to replace him.
Zhou Cheng felt relieved after receiving the test results.
The liver function has returned to the level when Su Qingyan was first hospitalized.
He ignored the doctor's advice to stay in bed after the operation and stood up to check on the medicine that Su Qingyan was hanging. Perhaps because he was close to her, Su Qingyan woke up in a daze.
"Zhou Cheng?"
When Su Qingyan saw Zhou Cheng standing at the head of her bed, she thought she was dreaming at first, then she suspected that she had slept too long. After glancing at the clock on the bedside, she finally woke up.
"Zhou Cheng, you just finished the operation?" Su Qingyan struggled to get up, but was pushed back by Zhou Cheng.
"Stay in bed and don't get up."
Based on Su Qingyan's current indicators, he is still not suitable for long-term flights. It would be safest to monitor and test him, and then continue if there is a downward trend. It's not that Zhou Cheng doesn't trust American medical care, it's just that it's too dangerous here.
"You're still blaming me? Shouldn't you be the one resting in bed? Can you think about yourself first, Zhou Cheng?" Su Qingyan saw the drainage bag hanging on Zhou Cheng's right chest, which was full of dark red blood, and his arm was wrapped in bandages. She was so anxious that she almost burst into tears again.
"I'm really fine. The doctor just showed me the surgery video. No blood vessels or nerves were touched." Zhou Cheng was even a little excited. "Xiao Su, did they really use the Da Vinci?"
"What Leonardo da Vinci?" Su Qingyan couldn't keep up with Zhou Cheng's pace again.
"There's a da Vinci surgical robot in my hospital, but I never get a chance to see it. I can't even get in line if I want to learn."
After standing for a long time, Zhou Cheng felt that his breathing was becoming difficult, so he lay back down on the bed.
"Brother, take good care of yourself and I'll buy you one when we get back."
Su Qingyan muttered in his heart, "Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, I will pick the stars for you if you want them."
After everything settled down, Su Qingyan took out his cell phone and sent a message to Su Chonglin.
-I'm fine here, please be careful in Xinghai.
-I'll ask you in detail when I get back.
Su Qingyan added another threatening sentence.
There was always a bodyguard guarding the ward, and bodyguards were also arranged outside the ward door, in the corridor and in the elevator. Su Qingyan and Zhou Cheng were protected perfectly, and the illness and pain made the two fall asleep quickly.
The next day, Su Qingyan was awakened by the sound of conversation in the room. It was not because the voices were so loud, but because they had been talking for a long time.
"It also requires pneumoperitoneum. Four robotic arms are remotely controlled to operate handheld instruments inside the abdominal cavity. The steps are the same: freeing the duodenum, severing the bile duct system, removing the pancreas, and reconstructing the digestive tract. If you have the chance, give it a try. It's just like a VR game."
"What are you talking about?" Su Qingyan saw Zhou Cheng and his attending physician chatting animatedly.
"Did I disturb you?" Zhou Cheng stopped immediately when he saw Su Qingyan woke up.
"What about Da Vinci again? Is he your little lover?" Su Qingyan saw that Zhou Cheng looked much better than yesterday, and couldn't help but sigh that Da Vinci was indeed something.
When the doctor saw that Su Qingyan had woken up, he arranged for a blood test for him and then brought in breakfast.
"I have no appetite, you eat it." Su Qingyan looked at the plate of grass in front of him and really had no appetite.
Su Qingyan has not had a fever since this morning. Zhou Cheng sighed that the original drug is indeed more effective. If the test results today show a trend of improvement, he even wants Su Qingyan to stay in this hospital for a few more days.
After a simple breakfast, Su Qingyan called in the two bodyguards from last night.
"Tell me, when did you start following us?"
"When you get to Los Angeles."
"Did Director Su arrange this?"
"yes."
"Is there a problem at Xinghai?"
"I'm not sure."
"So you guys come here for vacation?"
Su Qingyan slammed the table heavily, then threw the almost untouched plate on the small table onto the two bodyguards, spilling the vegetable salad all over them.
"Xiao Su, don't be angry." Zhou Cheng saw that Su Qingyan was getting angry again and quickly went to stop him.
"If you can't do your job well, get out."
Su Qingyan was in high spirits today. After a quick review, he felt that no matter how chaotic the scene was, Zhou Cheng shouldn't have been the first to notice and stand in front of him. It was too unfair for him to be shot twice for no reason.
