Chapter 67 New Year's Eve
"Zhou Cheng? You're home so early?" Xiao Han was carrying a lot of things in his hands. "Help me carry it quickly, it's too heavy."
Zhou Cheng went over to help him carry it, but underestimated its weight and caused a dull pain in his wound.
"Hiss...what are you pretending to be?"
"Are you hurt?" Xiao Han noticed it keenly from his typical protective action.
"It's okay." Zhou Cheng switched to his left hand to take it.
"How did you get injured? Is it your right arm? It won't affect the fine movements of your fingers, right?" Xiao Han followed him into the hallway and asked a series of questions.
"Didn't your husband tell you?" Zhou Cheng pressed the elevator button.
"Ah?" Xiao Han didn't understand what this had to do with Feng Junchi.
"It's okay, it doesn't affect anything. Don't mention it to my parents later." Zhou Cheng walked into the elevator.
Xiao Han knew very well that Zhou Cheng's tone meant that he didn't want to continue this topic, so he tactfully stopped talking.
Because Xiao Han was going on vacation abroad with Feng Junchi during the Spring Festival holiday, he came to wish Zhou's father and mother a happy new year a few days in advance, but unexpectedly met Zhou Cheng at the door.
After paying New Year's greetings, Xiao Han originally wanted to leave immediately, but he couldn't bear to see Zhou Cheng being ordered around by his mother, so he stayed to help him with the work.
After the two of them worked together to move several boxes of wine from the garage, Xiao Han couldn't help but asked.
"Could it be Feng Junchi looking for a fight with you?"
"..." Zhou Cheng was speechless for a moment, "It has nothing to do with him, I just did it accidentally, it's okay."
Xiao Han was busy working, and Zhou's mother insisted that he stay for dinner. Xiao Han quickly refused and winked at Zhou Cheng to ask him to say a few words for her.
Zhou Cheng told his mother that he and Xiao Han were going out to eat, and then the two of them left.
"You... I'm going to take a bath with him tonight, do you want to come?" Xiao Han felt it was very awkward for the three of them to be together, but he felt bad about leaving Zhou Cheng now, so he could only tell the truth.
"I'm going to the hospital to change my medicine." Zhou Cheng had his own plans and would not join in their fun.
"Let me change it for you. I happen to be passing by the hospital." Xiao Han volunteered.
As soon as Xiao Han left the community, he saw Feng Junchi's car and waved to him to come over.
Feng Junchi originally thought that Xiao Han would come out soon, but he didn't expect to wait for more than half an hour. It was not convenient to call to urge him, so he was about to send a message to ask what was going on when he saw Xiao Han and Zhou Cheng walking out together.
"Brother Chi, let's go to the hospital first. I'll change Zhou Cheng's medicine." Xiao Han opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat.
Zhou Cheng didn't expect that Feng Junchi had been waiting for Xiao Han at the door. He was hesitating whether to get in the car when he saw Feng Junchi coming out.
"Did you tell him?" Feng Junchi came over and asked Zhou Cheng in a low voice.
"No." Zhou Cheng took a few steps outside.
"Everything will be known once he changes the medicine." Feng Junchi took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, took out one and handed it to Zhou Cheng.
"You and him go first, I can change it myself." Zhou Cheng knew that the Su family was controlling the news about their attack and didn't want too many people to know.
"How do you change it on the back by yourself? I'll tell Xiao Han later." Feng Junchi threw the cigarette he had just taken a few puffs of into the trash can.
Zhou Cheng rubbed the cigarette with his fingers but never lit it.
"The wound on your arm is all open." Xiao Han carefully cleaned Zhou Cheng's wound, then threw the blood-stained cotton ball into the bucket. "Are you stupid? Can't you find an excuse not to work? Okay, it's done."
"And..." Zhou Cheng took off his clothes.
"besides?"
Xiao Han put down the tweezers. When he peeled off the gauze on Zhou Cheng's back, he paused, then walked around to Zhou Cheng with a shocked expression, completely ignoring the kiss mark on his chest.
"Gunshot wound? Zhou Cheng, you..."
"Well, I learned well. I didn't return everything to the teacher."
After Zhou Cheng finished speaking, Feng Junchi, who had been standing next to him, laughed.
"You..." Xiao Han's face immediately turned red when he heard Feng Junchi's laughter.
"I'll tell you later. Change the medicine first." Feng Junchi urged Xiao Han to continue.
"Tell me what later? Brother Chi, you know too? What are you hiding from me?" Xiao Han felt that this was not a trivial matter and kept asking questions.
"I encountered it when I was attending a meeting abroad. It didn't violate any laws or regulations." Zhou Cheng gave a brief account.
"Then how do you know?" Xiao Han turned and asked Feng Junchi.
"He is with my boss. Don't just stand there. Deal with it quickly." Feng Junchi urged again.
Xiao Han thought about settling the score with Feng Junchi later, so he picked up the tweezers and cotton balls and started disinfecting, using much more force than before.
Zhou Cheng grabbed the back of the chair and wanted to cry. What did this have to do with him? Why did he have to be a punching bag?
After changing the medicine, Zhou Cheng thanked them and left. Because it was close to the Chinese New Year, many stores were closed. Zhou Cheng found a coffee shop and sat down. Then the sound of a video request rang on his phone.
"What are you doing?" Su Qingyan was changing shoes in the entrance hall.
"Have coffee." Zhou Cheng raised his cup towards the phone screen.
"Not at home?" Su Qingyan asked curiously.
"Avoiding labor, cleaning the house." Zhou Cheng said casually.
"Oh, not bad, you've made progress. I thought you would force yourself to help." Su Qingyan walked into the house and collapsed on the sofa. "I'm going back to Xinghai tomorrow. We're so far apart..."
"We will be able to meet in a few days. You should spend the New Year with your family." Zhou Cheng comforted Su Qingyan.
New Year's Eve was approaching quickly. Zhou Cheng had been busy at home these days and finally took a break on New Year's Eve because the food he cooked was so bad that he was kicked out of the kitchen.
"Mom, you put too much salt. It's not healthy." Zhou Cheng stood at the kitchen door and wanted to learn from her, but then he found that delicious meals were all high in oil and salt.
"What do you know? Stop making trouble." Mother Zhou was busy in the kitchen and had no time to pay attention to Zhou Cheng.
Zhou Cheng left in disappointment. After returning to the living room and sitting silently with his father for a few minutes, he prepared to get up and go back to his room.
"Zhou Cheng, how come you have time to go home for the New Year this year?"
Zhou Cheng slowly lowered his butt back down after it had just been raised.
"I was on duty the past few years, but this year the director let me go home for the New Year."
"You're not married and don't have children, so you should cover for me when it's time. We don't have any connections in Mincheng, so you have to rely on your own efforts."
Zhou Cheng really didn't want to hear what his father said, so he just responded with a "hmm".
"You're so busy at work, you should find someone to take care of the family. Only when you have a family can you build a career."
Sure enough, it started again.
Zhou Cheng picked up an orange from the fruit bowl and began to peel it slowly.
"When you mention this, it's as if we are harming you." Father Zhou threw the remote control in his hand onto the coffee table.
"No." Zhou Cheng didn't want to make his father angry during the New Year, so he continued, "I'm looking..."
The TV played cheerful songs, the house was bright and clean, decorated with lights, and the occasional firecrackers rang out outside. Everything was peaceful and prosperous, everything was new and joyful, but Zhou Cheng's heart was chilled to the core.
