Chapter 16: Refusing to admit death

Linghu Yunlong said coldly: "If I win, you can't leave. I will take you to the authorities!"

Yu Ren Tong laughed heartily, Scar's face showing no emotion: "Okay! Then let's compete!"

The setting sun, crows, ancient trees, autumn wind, and the solemn world – this kind of scenery is usually most appropriate for a duel between masters.

But the bamboo forest with the rustling of bamboo leaves and the gentle breeze was completely different from this great battle.

But the aura emanating from the two men instantly condensed the air, and they attacked almost simultaneously: a long sword, a short knife.

Yu Rentong was too short and hunchbacked, so a short knife was the most suitable tool for him.

Linghu Yunlong has a slender figure, sword-like eyebrows and fierce eyes. The long sword in his hand is as graceful as a swimming dragon and as elegant as a startled swan.

"Dangdangdang! ......"

Ding ding ding ding! …

The swords clashed like strings of pearls. One was the best swordsman in the world, the other was the best killer in the martial arts world. The two fought back and forth, their battle was inseparable...

Later, Linghu Yunlong recalled that great battle with a lingering fear. The duel with Yue Fei had been a sparring match, but this was a true life-and-death duel.

"Your Majesty, Meng Gurao requests an audience." Cao Dongsheng came to Renming Hall and found Zhao Huan.

Zhao Huan was chatting with Queen Shrimp, talking nonsense. As soon as Cao Dongsheng said that, he guessed that it must be related to the son-in-law Qi Zhiyan.

"Let's go to Wende Hall!"

When Zhao Huan arrived at Wende Hall, Meng Gurao was already waiting anxiously.

Meng Gurao rubbed his hands anxiously. When he saw Zhao Huan, he said happily, "Your Majesty, Linghu Yunlong is back."

Zhao Huan was overjoyed: "Did you bring the person?"

Meng Gurao nodded: "Here we are, mother and son."

"Quick! Take me to Kaifeng Prefecture!"

When Zhao Huan arrived at Kaifeng Prefecture, he was shocked to see that Linghu Yunlong's left arm was injured and was bandaged and hung on his shoulder.

"Linghu Yunlong, what's wrong with you?" Zhao Huan asked in surprise.

Linghu Yunlong smiled bitterly: "Your Majesty, I was injured by the people from the Prince Consort's Mansion, it's okay."

Zhao Huan was secretly shocked. With Linghu Yunlong's kung fu skills, only a master could hurt him.

Qin Shufen, her mother and her son huddled together, and Qin Shufen was completely bewildered. She had never imagined that the young master Zhao before her was actually wearing a dragon robe, and that he would be the current emperor.

"Uncle Zhao!" Qi Bin was ignorant. He looked at Zhao Huan and shouted happily.

Zhao Huan smiled at him, then looked at Qin Shufen and said angrily: "Qin Shufen, I want to ask you, why are you hiding from us?"

Qin Shufen was so frightened that she dared not speak. Zhao Huan snorted, "You were thinking about that heartless man, but you never imagined that he would be so cruel as to kill you and your son. What's the point of keeping such a beast around?"

Qin Shufen looked at her two children and finally knelt down: "Your Majesty, I know I was wrong. He didn't even spare his own flesh and blood. Please, Your Majesty, make the decision!"

Zhao Huan was furious: "Meng Gu Rao! Immediately send someone to arrest Hanlin scholar Qi Zhiyan!"

With a bang, the door of the Prince Consort's Mansion was knocked open. Qi Zhiyan panicked: "Madam!"

As the saying goes, when one is desperate, one will try anything. His only hope is that the princess can save his life.

Princess De Xin said coldly, "Why are you panicking? Remember, if you see that bitch and her son, you must deny knowing them. Do you understand?"

Qi Zhiyan nodded woodenly: "Madam, you must save me."

The guards at Kaifeng Prefecture produced a summons: "Sir, by order of His Majesty, please accompany us to the Kaifeng Prefecture government office."

Qi Zhiyan was so scared that her face turned pale. She followed him out of the mansion obediently, looking back at Princess Dexin every step of the way.

Princess Dexin was distraught, and she wasn't sure she could save her husband. Since Zhao Huan became emperor, his relationship with his brothers and sisters had become much more distant.

In the lobby of Kaifeng Prefecture, Zhao Huan sat at the chief seat, with Meng Gurao and the chief clerk next to him.

When Qi Zhiyan came in, he found two rows of yamen runners standing on both sides with large boards, and he was extremely frightened.

Qi Zhiyan knew this bastard emperor very well. Since he ascended the throne, there was nothing he dared not do. As soon as he ascended the throne, he beat Li Bangyan up. At this moment, two rows of yamen runners were holding wooden boards, and it was obvious that they were planning to use the punishment on him.

He looked back and saw that it was his wife Qin Shufen and his two children kneeling beside him. Qin Shufen looked at him resentfully, her eyes no longer filled with pleading and despair, but more with anger.

Qi Zhiyan lowered his head in shame, and for some reason he didn't dare to look Qin Shufen in the eye. Perhaps he knew that he had truly owed this woman a great deal.

"Bang!" Zhao Huan banged the gavel. "Qi Zhiyan! I'm here to ask you, do you recognize who is in this room?"

Qi Zhiyan was shocked all over. He saw Qin Shufen looking at him with resentment, which made him feel uneasy, but he could not utter a word.

"I'm asking you, do you recognize who is in the hall?" Zhao Huan said coldly.

"Your Majesty, I don't recognize you." Qi Zhiyan said.

If Qin Shufen still held onto a glimmer of hope, then she was completely disheartened after hearing this. Qin Shufen finally stopped looking at him. This man was no longer worthy of her concern.

Zhao Huan took a deep breath and said, "Qi Zhiyan, you should know that I have plenty of ways to find out the truth. You'd better answer honestly."

When Qi Zhiyan went to Beijing to take the imperial examination, Qi Bin was not yet born, and Qin Shufen was just pregnant. It is clear how difficult it was for a pregnant woman to support the family.

Qi Cuihua was only three or four years old, and her impression of Qi Zhiyan had long been vague. The two children looked at Qi Zhiyan timidly, but had no feelings for him at all.
