Only one of the five assassins survived, and the Tiger Sergeant found poison on him, which they had prepared to prevent him from being captured and tortured.
"Zheng Xian, can you find out the details of this person? How did they hide in the capital without being discovered?"
Zheng Xian bowed and said with a smile: "Your Majesty, I have never heard of anyone who came to the Tiger Court and did not confess."
Zhao Huan nodded: "Try every possible means to make this assassin speak."
Zheng Xian returned to the interrogation department.
"Sir, this assassin is being stubborn and refuses to say a single word."
Zheng Xian looked at the assassin covered in wounds and said, "There is no shortage of tough prisoners in the Tiger Court. I want to see how tough your bones are."
The assassin sneered: "You are the dog beside the dog emperor, so feel free to use any tricks you have."
Zheng Xian smiled and said, "Come here, boil some water for me!"
The Tiger Yasi had all sorts of bizarre interrogation tools, and soon his subordinates brought over a massive iron pot over three feet in diameter. Someone brought over firewood, set up the pot, and started boiling water.
The fire was burning brightly and a layer of steam was rising from the surface of the pot. Zheng Xian could see fear in the assassin's eyes.
"Burn it! Burn it harder!"
The officials went to fetch more firewood, and gradually the water in the pot began to bubble.
Zheng Xian said with a grin, "Guess what, I'm going to give you a bath with the boiling water in this pot. Look at how dirty you are, it's all blood and dirt."
Zheng Xian took a ladle and filled it with boiling water and brought it to the assassin: "I will pour it over your head like this, to ensure that you are comfortable and clean."
The assassin struggled: "You vicious dog, come here if you dare! Come here!"
Unexpectedly, the assassin was not afraid at all. I don’t know what kind of love potion King Kang gave them that made this person so loyal to him.
Zheng Xian threw away the water scoop and waved his hand, and his officers sent him a chicken.
The chicken was alive, clucking and struggling, but its claws were tied and everything was in vain.
Zheng Xian grabbed the rooster's claws and said, "Does it look like you? The same struggle, the same helplessness. If you refuse to speak, then this chicken will be your fate."
Zheng Xian pressed the rooster into the boiling pot. It twitched a few times before stopping. Zheng Xian stirred it a few times, and when he pulled it out, the feathers on the rooster were gone.
Zheng Xian placed the rooster with its feathers burned off in front of him and said, "Tell me, are you going to accept it or not?"
Sweat broke out on the assassin's forehead. He knew that if he didn't surrender, he would be the next one to be killed.
"Bah!" The assassin spat on Zheng Xian's face.
"Throw him into the pot!" Zheng Xian was furious.
The officers of the Tiger Yasi untied the assassin from the wooden stake, then tied him up and hung him up with ropes.
The pulley rolled, an officer pulled the rope, and the assassin slowly fell down, with a pot of boiling water below.
His feet were less than a foot away from the pot, and the hot steam was already covering them.
"Ah! Kill me! Come on!" the assassin shouted.
Zheng Xian waved his hand and the officers stopped letting out the rope.
"Killing you is so boring. After killing you, you can go to your heaven." Zheng Xian said contemptuously.
"What did you say!" The assassin was surprised.
Zheng Xian ignored him and continued, "In the early years of the Chonghe era, King Kang Zhao Gou recruited two hundred men from the Jianghu and trained them at Jie Niu Mountain, teaching them both civil and martial arts. After their training, they were forced to fight each other, and six emerged victorious. They became known as the Six Death Warriors. As they were descending the mountain, King Kang gave each of you a cup of wine. After drinking, you woke up in Heaven, a place filled with wine, women, and beauties. You spent three days in Heaven, then were sent back to the mortal world. King Kang said, 'Zhongwu, after your death, you will ascend to Heaven forever.'"
The assassin was shocked: "You, who are you? How did you know?"
Zheng Xian threw a book on the table: "This was found during the search of Prince Kang's mansion. It is the "Records of Death Soldiers" written by Prince Kang himself. It records in detail how to train death soldiers and how to make you loyal. It's ridiculous, sad, and lamentable! Put him down!" Zheng Xian waved his hand.
The officer put the assassin down, untied the ropes on his hands, and told him to send the book "Memorandum of the Dead" to him.
Zheng Xian put his hands behind his back and said, "Actually, there's no such thing as heaven. When the six of you finished your training and came down the mountain, King Kang put a love potion in the wine you drank. He sent you to a place where, when you woke up, you'd find yourself surrounded by beautiful women, with an endless supply of delicacies and fine wines. He let you have a few days of fun, then made you fall in love and sent you back to Jieniu Mountain. He then told you that you were going to heaven, and as long as you were loyal to King Kang, your souls would return to heaven after you died."
The assassin felt as if the sky had fallen and the earth had collapsed. The belief they had always held on to, the thing they had devoted their entire lives to, was actually a scam.
"No, this is impossible, impossible!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, flipping through the "Diary of the Dead Soldiers" frantically.
Zheng Xian scoffed. "It's a trick full of loopholes, enough to fool a three-year-old, yet you six fools fell for it. It's not just you. I also know there are some remnants of King Kang who are trying to stir up trouble. If you reveal the others, I'll make you die a quick death. Otherwise, I'll make you suffer every one of the dozens of punishments here!"
The assassin was completely devastated. He had never imagined that the King Kang, whom they had always worshipped as a god, was actually a liar. No, even to a god, they were not so loyal.
The last page of the book said: After the mission is accomplished, the assassins should not be allowed to stay and should be killed to eliminate future troubles.
Zheng Xian sneered: "When the cunning rabbit dies, the running dog is cooked. Even if you really help King Kang to overthrow the world, the final outcome is that King Kang will kill you to silence you!"
