Chapter 209 Throwing out the Emperor as Bait

Jin Wushu occupied Taizhuang and defeated the Song army. When the news reached Shangjing, there was jubilation.

Wanyan Sheng personally issued an edict of praise, which greatly boosted the morale of the armored army led by Jin Wushu.

At Baijugou, Yue Fei's main camp was filled with solemn expressions. Yue Fei's generals Liang Zifan, Xia Dechao, Wang Gui, Zhang Xian and others were all inside the tent.

Xia Dechao said, "General Yue, you told His Majesty that you had a way to capture Jin Wushu alive, but the Jin cavalry is so powerful, how can we capture him alive?"

Yue Fei didn't answer. He looked at the map on the table and asked, "What do you think of the direction of Baijugou where we are?"

The generals looked at each other, confused as to what Yue Fei meant. Zhang Xian said, "General Yue, Baijugou is easy to defend but difficult to attack, making it a perfect ambush location. We will set up our headquarters here, as it is the perfect place for both timing and location."

Yue Fei pondered and said, "If we can lure Jin Wushu into Baijugou, we should be able to capture this thief alive."

The generals were shocked when they heard this. Liang Zifan said in a trembling voice, "General Yue, His Majesty is in Baijugou. His Majesty's safety is the top priority. How can we lure the Jin thieves here?"

Xia Dechao hesitated and asked, "General Yue, do you mean to send His Majesty to the rear and then set an ambush here?"

Yue Fei shook his head and said, "The Jin thieves are so clever, they won't easily break through this encirclement. My intention is to use Your Majesty as bait to lure Jin Wushu to Baijugou, where we can annihilate him."

"No!" Xia Dechao was still in shock, and the generals' faces changed drastically.

"General Yue, you absolutely cannot do this! Even if you can capture Jin Wushu alive, if His Majesty finds out about it later, he will definitely not forgive you." Wang Gui also said in a trembling voice.

"General Yue, your majesty's body is worth a million dollars. If anything happens to him, we will be sinners for all eternity..." Liang Zifan didn't dare to say anything more.

Zhang Xian continued his advice, "General Yue, please reconsider. Which emperor in history would allow a minister to do this? Confiscating their property and exterminating their clan would be the least of their trouble. Serving the emperor is like being a tiger. Even if Your Majesty is wise and doesn't pursue this matter for now, can you guarantee that there won't be a retribution later?"

All the generals objected, and Yue Fei hesitated: "But this is a golden opportunity. If we can capture Jin Wushu alive and destroy his Iron Buddha, we can march straight up!"

"I firmly oppose it!" the generals said.

But no matter how hard the generals tried to persuade him, Yue Fei finally decided to use Zhao Huan as bait.

Jin Wushu was cautious in his use of troops and would not rush into battle without absolute certainty. As long as a huge bait was thrown to him, that is, the Emperor of the Song Dynasty was in Baijugou, Jin Wushu would attack at all costs.

After all, capturing Zhao Huan alive would mean absolute victory in the Song-Jin War.

Even if the Song Dynasty appointed a new emperor and abandoned Zhao Huan, they would not be able to march north to fight against the Jin. Moreover, Zhao Huan could use this as a threat to force the Song people to pay a large amount of gold and silver treasures, or the Song Dynasty could give up the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun.

If Jin Wushu wanted to rush to the aid of Zhongjing, he should advance eastward from Taizhuang along the Hela River. Baijumagou was not among the areas that the Jin army would attack.

Yue Fei deliberately transferred the Song army from the outer defense line of Baijumagou to the Hela River, setting up a battle line to fight a decisive battle with the Jin army, but the number of guards around Zhao Huan was increased.

This deliberately created the illusion for the Jin people that they did not know they would attack Baijumagou.

As expected, scouts came one after another to report that the Emperor of the Song Dynasty was spotted in the direction of Baijumagou.

Jin Wushu still couldn't believe it: "Are you sure you saw the Song Emperor's dragon sedan chair in Baijugou?"

The scout nodded and said, "General Wuzhu, I saw it clearly. The Song army camp was heavily guarded. Although they didn't display the emperor's dragon flag, the soldiers were all dressed like palace guards."

Jin Wushu was overjoyed: "Explore again!"

The scout turned to leave, "Wait!" Jin Wushu stopped him, "I will go there myself."

Jin Wushu disguised himself as an ordinary citizen and went to Baijumagou with an follower.

The two men tied their horses in a secluded place, and Jin Wushu quietly moved to a hillside outside Baijumagou.

This hillside was originally the location of the Song army's outer garrison, and these garrisons were transferred to the Hela River line by Yue Fei.

Through the bushes, Jin Wushu discovered that a large group of Song troops were stationed on the mountainside on the east side of Baijumagou. From a distance, the camps inside were stacked up in layers.

This Song army was dressed in the same uniform as the palace guards, and the defense of this camp was tighter than any other military camp.

Jin Wushu concluded that this was Zhao Huan's base camp. If there were troops stationed on this hillside, Baijumagou would indeed be easy to defend and difficult to attack. It was a far-sighted move for the Song army to choose this place as their base camp.

But Yue Fei was probably frightened by his own crooked horse, so he transferred the emperor's guards to the Hera River.

As long as he split his troops into two groups, sending a small group to feint at the Hela River while the main force came to Baijugou, the impact of the Iron Pagoda from this direction would cause chaos in the camp below, and the Song Dynasty's dog emperor Zhao Huan would surely become his prisoner.

Thinking of this, Jin Wushu was overjoyed. He waved to the scouts beside him and said, "Let's go!"

The two men came to the place where the horses were tied, quietly untied the reins, mounted their war horses and galloped away.

Hebula led his Mongolian cavalry to fight a decisive battle on the Linhuang line on the border between Jin and Mongolia.

"Dalandai, you will capture Larshan for me! Remember, hold back Shuhugeqin's troops. As long as you can hold back Shuhugeqin's cavalry, I can wipe out Wanyan Quanshi's Western Army!" Kublai Khan of the Mongol Empire shouted, pointing to a location on the map.

General Dalantai bowed his head and said, "Don't worry, my lord! The eagles on the grasslands can definitely blind the eyes of jackals. I guarantee that not a single soldier of Shuhugeqin will be able to cross the Horal Mountain!"

Hebule nodded and said, "After defeating Wanyan Quanshi's Western Route Army, the vast land along the Linhuang line will become our grassland."
