"Keep your voice down." The African pushed the scholar down and asked, "Are you trying to kill yourself?"
The scholar was still furious. "Sandabuhua, you said that such a good official as Jiao Lumu was framed and killed. What's wrong with this world? And how did that bastard official Zhang Kening become the prefect of Huining Prefecture?"
It turned out that this dark-looking 'African' was called Sandabuhua. He sighed, "Zhang Kening was originally a minor clerk in the previous dynasty, but the current emperor is seeking talent. This guy is articulate and eloquent, and he's highly regarded by the emperor, who even gave him the important position of prefect of Huining Prefecture. This is really tough for the Jurchens. Zhang Kening was bullied by many officials in the previous dynasty, and now he holds great power and is constantly opposing those former officials. This Bahriel was probably instigated by him."
At this point, Zhao Huan felt secretly ashamed. He had thought Zhang Kening was eloquent and a flatterer. He thought he could be of great use, so he gave him the position of Huining Prefecture Governor. He had never imagined that he was actually a scoundrel.
"This bastard official should be skinned and torn to pieces!" The scholar slammed the table in anger again.
"Well said! Excuse me, brother." Zhao Huan suddenly walked over and clasped his fists.
Sandabuhua was startled. The man before him had overheard their conversation. He was a little apprehensive, wondering if this man was a trusted aide to the court.
Zhao Huan noticed the two men were nervous, so he smiled and said, "Don't panic, you two. We are merchants from afar, and I have relatives serving in the capital. I just heard you talk about that lawless official Jiao Lumu, who is harming the people. I'm furious. I believe this official should be skinned and torn to pieces to vent the people's anger."
Hearing his angry words, Sandabuhua realized he was feeling aggrieved and couldn't help but let down his guard. "What's your name, sir?"
Zhao Huan smiled and said: "My name is Zhao Zilong, and these two are Linghu Yunlong and Nangong, and Nangong Little Reptile." Zhao Huan made up a name for Nangong Lian'er.
Nangong Lian'er rolled her eyes at him. It was obvious that she didn't like the name Nangong Little Reptile. Zhao Huan, that bastard, no one liked that name.
Sandabuhua clasped his fists and said, "I'm Sandabuhua, running errands and doing odd jobs in Xicheng. This is my brother Du Yuntai."
The scholar named Du Yuntai nodded to Zhao Huan and the others. Zhao Huan waved his hand to Doctor Tea and said, "Doctor Tea, I'll take the blame for these two people."
Dr. Tea nodded hurriedly to agree.
Du Yuntai and the other two were flattered, but seeing that Zhao Huan and the others were dressed in luxurious clothes, the wealthy businessmen did not care about this little money, but they always felt uneasy when receiving favors from others.
Sandabuhua said hurriedly: "How can this be done? Let the two of us pay for the tea."
In fact, Sanda doesn't have any money if he doesn't spend it. He is just trying to show off.
Zhao Huan smiled and said, "I heard that you two were angry about the world and shared similar interests, so I wanted to make friends. If you two consider me a friend, then there is no need to be polite."
Du Yuntai was delighted to see Zhao Huan's generosity and enthusiasm, and no longer cared about these things.
Zhao Huan said to Du Yuntai, "I just heard that Brother Du has a broad mind and many ambitions to stabilize and protect the country. A man's ambition is to travel far and wide. Why not go to the capital and seek fame and fortune?"
Du Yuntai sighed: "The court is in a state of darkness and the people are living in poverty. As an official, let's not talk about it anymore."
Zhao Huan sneered, "Brother Du, you're wrong. The emperor is benevolent, filial, wise, and powerful. How can you say the people are suffering? It's just that the emperor's abilities are limited, and he needs loyal ministers like you to assist him. If there were more loyal ministers in the world, would he still be afraid of people like Zhang Kening?"
Zhao Huan stared at him intently. Du Yuntai stood up and bowed deeply: "Sir, your words are like a revelation to me. I just stayed out of the matter and pretended to be noble. I am really ashamed of myself." Then he turned and left.
Sandabuhua was startled: "Where are you going, Brother Du?"
Du Yuntai turned around and said, "Go to the capital to take the exam and win fame in Bianjing!"
"Where do you get the money?" Sandabuhua stated his biggest dilemma, which was also his biggest problem.
Du Yuntai was stunned for a moment, then proudly said, "Even if I have to beg along the way, I will rush to Bianjing. I want to take the imperial examination and become a high-ranking official! I will devote myself to the country and the people!"
Linghu Yunlong pulled out a purse from his pocket and threw it over: "Here, it's for your travel expenses to Beijing."
Du Yuntai took it subconsciously, was stunned for a moment and wanted to refuse.
"I'm lending it to you. Remember, if you can become an official in the future, don't forget what you said today. You should devote yourself to the country and the people!" Zhao Huan stood up and was about to leave.
Du Yuntai then put the silver into his arms, bowed deeply and said: "Thank you, Brother Zhao!" Then he turned around and left.
As he walked away, Zhao Huan's voice came from behind him: "If you pass the palace examination, the first place will be yours!"
Du Yuntai waved his hand and said, "Thank you, Brother Zhao, for your kind words!"
Sandabuhua stared blankly at Du Yuntai's figure and waved goodbye.
Zhao Huan patted Sanda Buhua, who was in a daze, and said, "Let's go, Sanda Laohei."
Sandabuhua was stunned for a moment: "What?"
"Come with us to Bahri's mansion." Zhao Huan said and left with Nangong Lian'er without looking back.
Linghu Yunlong said to him: "Don't worry, we will show you how that son of a bitch official died."
In the distance, Zhao Huan jumped up with an "Ah!", either being pinched or having his ears twisted by Nangong Lian'er.
Sandabuhua knew that these three people were not from ordinary backgrounds, so he followed them in confusion.
Bahriel was gloomy. Even if he sold his entire property, he couldn't possibly raise the 50,000 taels. But his life was at stake, so any little he could get was enough. He just hoped the Imperial Guards officer would show some mercy.
"Sell this, and these, and these, move them all away." Bahriel ordered his servants to move all the furniture and paintings in the house to the West City Market and sell them at the price of firewood.
