Chapter 31: Mending Clothes Under the Oil Lamp

She was angry, very angry. Zhao Huan had no choice but to leave the inn. He was afraid that any further persuasion would backfire.

Tian Yingying's life tragedy can be said to be caused by herself. If her lover had not died in the battle to save her, she would not have ended up so sad.

Zhao Huan felt that he had committed many sins, and he walked aimlessly in Lai Fu Alley.

Suddenly, a heart-wrenching cry attracted his attention. It was the cry of a young girl, and the voice sounded familiar.

"Mother! Mother, wake up, mother!"

I saw a man pulling a cart walking in the alley. It was the gambling addict An Liangshi.

There was a dead person on the cart he was pulling, that was his wife. Next to her was his daughter, the one who had cried just now was An Liangshi's daughter.

They recognized Zhao Huan when they passed by him.

"Benefactor!" An Liangshi's daughter shouted.

Zhao Huan stopped An Liangshi and asked, "What's going on?"

Perhaps he was desperate, or perhaps his conscience had awakened. An Liangshi sighed: "Thank you for your help, but my wife is gone."

"Mother! Mother!" His daughter cried bitterly. The only mother who treated her well in this world was gone. Her father seemed to do nothing but gamble. How could she not be sad about the departure of her loved one?

The crying alarmed the neighbors on the street, and people came out to watch. When they saw the scene before them, they all sighed in regret.

Zhao Huan saw Zhao Fachun from the blacksmith shop, and also saw Old Li. It turned out that Old Li had opened a steamed bun shop at the entrance of the alley, but as soon as Old Li opened the door and took a look, his wife twisted his ear and shrunk back.

With a creak, the door of Lai Fu Inn opened and Tian Yingying stood out holding a bottle of wine.

I have to say that Tian Yingying is quite good-looking: tall, slender, and fair, with long, slender legs clad in a pair of deerskin boots. Her hair veils one side of her face, and she occasionally lifts her snow-white arm to take a sip or two of her homemade "Scary Incense" tea.

Tian Yingying didn't say anything. When she saw Zhao Huan, she was slightly startled. Why was this brat involved in everything?

Zhao Huan had no time to care about Tian Yingying at this time. He walked to An Liangshi's daughter and said, "Didn't I give you money to take your mother to see a doctor? How could this happen?"

The girl didn't say anything, but just looked at An Liangshi fiercely. Zhao Huan was frightened by her eyes. Knowing that things were not that simple, he turned around and looked at An Liangshi: "Where's the money?!"

An Liangshi didn't dare meet his eyes, avoiding Zhao Huan and not daring to look at him. Zhao Huan rushed over and grabbed his collar: "I want to ask you! Where's the money?"

An Liangshi's daughter finally spoke: "It's him, it's all his! He stole my mother's life-saving money, he killed my mother, I will kill you!" Then she pounced on him.

What kind of despair and hatred made her not even call him "Dad". In her heart, she probably no longer had this biological father, because An Liangshi was probably worse than an animal.

"In the end, you used the money I gave you for your medical treatment to gamble?" Zhao Huan said coldly.

An Liangshi avoided his gaze. "Well, well, this is not the case. I still owe money to the casino. I just paid off part of the debt. I wanted to gamble a few more times to make up for my losses. Maybe I can even afford to treat my wife's illness."

With a "bang" punch, Zhao Huan had killed people before, but this was the first time he beat someone up.

"Well done, well done!"

"Beat you to death, you bastard," the crowd around was angry, and they all accused An Liangshi of being worse than a beast.

Zhao Huan wanted to go up and beat him up, but this dog emperor was good at scolding people, but he really couldn't beat people. After two punches, An Liangshi fought back.

An Liangshi was taller than Zhao Huan, and in terms of strength, Zhao Huan, who couldn't even use the turtle punch, was no match for him. He immediately stomped Zhao Huan to the ground and said, "You gave it to me, so I can spend it however I want. Tell you what, this old woman is dead anyway. Either you buy Xiaozhu too, or I'll sell her to a brothel. First, you'll have a place to live, and second, I can sell her for more money." It turned out that his daughter's name was An Xiaozhu.

Old Li was right. This man was a beast. Zhao Huan was furious: "I will cut you into pieces!"

An Liangshi was stunned for a moment: "What did you say?"

With a bang, a wine jar flew out and hit An Liangshi's head hard. An Liangshi was immediately sent flying. Tian Yingying.

Tian Yingying flew over and beat him up. Perhaps she had learned some martial arts from her fiancé. She was more than capable of dealing with An Liangshi. It wasn't long before An Liangshi was pinned to the ground and beaten.

After a few punches, An Liangshi stopped moving. Tian Yingying was still punching him on the head. Zhao Huan saw that it was almost enough and that if he continued, he would be killed. He went over and grabbed Tian Yingying: "Alright, alright, stop hitting me."

Tian Yingying then stood up and said, "If you dare to mention selling your daughter again, I will beat you every time I see you!"

If there was anyone on this street that An Liangshi was afraid of, it was none other than Tian Yingying. In the past, when An Liangshi lost money gambling, he would go home and beat up his wife and daughter. But if Tian Yingying found out, she would inevitably beat him up. For this reason, An Liangshi became much more obedient.

When An Liangshi saw that it was Tian Yingying, he was so scared that he didn't dare to fart. He climbed up tremblingly and pulled the cart away.

"Good!" The surrounding neighbors applauded and cheered.

Tian Yingying looked at Zhao Huan, whose shirt was torn and said, "Come on, I'll sew it up for you."

Zhao Huan was overjoyed. He had been kicked out, but was suddenly invited back. He was so excited that he happily followed Tian Yingying back to the inn.

Zhao Huan turned around and saw Zhao Fachun, who was standing across the street, secretly giving him a thumbs-up. Zhao Huan chuckled and winked at him.

Back at the inn, Zhao Huan immediately became obedient. This girl couldn't be offended. He had to think carefully before speaking to her. If he angered her again, he might be kicked out again.

"Please sit down." Tian Yingying said coldly, and then went upstairs.

Zhao Huan nervously sat down where Tian Yingying had been. Her scent still lingered on the table. He wondered what kind of rouge and powder she'd used. It was faint but pleasant, a scent that intoxicated Zhao Huan.

After a while, Tian Yingying came down from upstairs, holding a sewing kit in her hand: "Take off your shirt."

Zhao Huan took off his shirt, which had been ripped several times by the An Liang stone. Tian Yingying took his clothes and sat down by the oil lamp. Then she threaded the needle and began mending Zhao Huan's clothes. Her technique was skillful, and it was obvious that she was an expert in women's work.

Zhao Huan looked at her in the hazy candlelight, which seemed real and illusory, and couldn't help but be a little dazed.
