Chapter 51 The Emperor Marries Tian Yingying

Tian Yingying was wondering when a large wedding procession rushed into the lobby of Lai Fu Inn.

Big Mouth was startled: "You, what are you doing?"

No one paid any attention to him. The suona music was still playing melodiously and the gongs and drums were beating loudly outside.

Each of the seven or eight palace maids carried a tray with a phoenix crown, a bridal robe, and veil accessories on it.

Two palace maids came over and pulled Tian Yingying to the private room upstairs.

Not only Dazui, but Tian Yingying was also shocked. She struggled: "What are you doing? Let me go!"

But the scene was too huge, with servants, slaves, and palace maids, so many that you had no time to argue. They had already filled the inn with people coming and going.

Linghu Yunlong saw all this and understood. He couldn't help but smile. He was finally free. He no longer had to do menial work here.

While Tian Yingying was in confusion, seven or eight palace maids surrounded her, took her to the room and began to put on makeup and change her clothes.

Tian Yingying understood that they were going to treat her as the bride. Who was so bold as to blatantly snatch the bride in broad daylight?

"Don't come over here! I won't be polite if you come over again!" She took a step back and pointed at the palace maids.

The maids didn't seem frightened; they giggled. One of the tall maids said, "My lady, there's no need to panic. My master has asked us to come and get married."

Tian Yingying became even angrier: "Who is your master?"

The maid said nothing, but took out a wooden box from the tray and sent it to her.

Tian Yingying took the wooden box in surprise. The sandalwood box was delicately carved and inlaid with gold and jade on the edges. Just looking at the box, it was obvious that it was worth a lot of money.

When Tian Yingying opened the wooden box, she was stunned. It was the jade pendant Zhao Huan had given her. He had once said that when he came back, he would bring this jade pendant to marry her.

"Why didn't he come himself?" Tian Yingying asked.

The maid smiled and said, "My master has asked me to tell you, young lady, that although he wishes to come and marry you, he has many obligations that prevent him from coming. Please forgive me, young lady. Moreover, my master is worth millions of gold, how can he marry like a commoner?"

Tian Yingying was completely bewildered. What was this about a body worth millions being married off to a commoner? What the hell was Zhao Xiaolong up to?

However, Zhao Xiaolong always liked to get some strange and bizarre things, and this jade pendant was undoubtedly his. He also said that he would bring the jade pendant to marry her, so she hesitated and no longer refused.

The maids were quite skilled, and they had brought everything they needed: rouge, powder, gold and jade hairpins, and even a bronze mirror.

Everyone surrounded Tian Yingying, putting makeup on her, drawing her eyebrows, powdering her, and combing her hair.

This whole ordeal took a full hour, and two more palace maids helped her change her clothes. When she came down from upstairs, she was already a bride wearing a phoenix coronet and a bright red veil on her head.

The most surprised person should be Big Mouth. How could he have imagined that the shopkeeper would be dressed like this when he was carried upstairs and downstairs?

But there were servants standing all around, and there were even rows of guards outside the inn. He was so frightened that he wanted to ask but didn't dare.

Linghu Yunlong noticed Dazui's confusion, so he leaned over and said, "Don't worry, today is the shopkeeper's big day."

Finally, someone answered his question. Dazui hurriedly asked, "Who are you going to marry?"

"Young Master Zhao, Zhao Xiaolong, Young Master Zhao." Linghu Yunlong said.

Big Mouth, who understood, laughed: "Really! It turned out to be Master Zhao. Haha, that's great. Hey? Are you not stupid anymore?"

Linghu Yunlong glanced at him and said, "You are the stupid one." Then he followed the wedding procession.

Tian Yingying was still a little suspicious. She couldn't see what was going on outside because of her red veil. But she could tell there was a lot of commotion outside. How could Zhao Xiaolong have such a large influence to hold such a lavish wedding for her?

Whatever it is, just follow these people quietly. If the groom isn't Zhao Xiaolong, I'll fight him to the death.

The group arrived at the gate of the palace with music and dance. Tian Yingying could no longer bear it, so she gently lifted her veil and lifted the curtain of the sedan chair.

You wouldn't know until you see it, and you'd be shocked. They'd actually arrived at the Imperial Palace, and the most shocking thing was that teams of guards stood on either side, kneeling respectfully on one knee to salute.

Tian Yingying was in a panic. Could it be that it was not Zhao Xiaolong, but the emperor who wanted to marry her?

She would never believe that Zhao Xiaolong was the emperor. That was too far-fetched. But she had indeed been sent to the palace. Who could get married in the palace? Of course, it was the emperor.

How did the emperor know me and why did he want to marry me?

Tian Yingying felt her mouth dry and her heartbeat quickened. "Hmph! Even if he's the emperor, so what? I'd rather die than marry him." Thinking of this, she felt a little relieved.

According to the official process, Zhao Huanruo's marriage to a concubine also required a grand ceremony. Although it was not as grand as the enthronement of a queen, the "Six Rites" (Nacai, Wenming, Naji, Nazheng, Gaoqi, and Qinying) were still required.

In order to give Tian Yingying a surprise, Zhao Huan deliberately omitted all these mundane details to see how this girl would react.

The palace was decorated with lights and lanterns. Tian Yingying had never seen such luxury in a palace before, and her heart was so nervous that it almost jumped out of her throat.

The wedding procession arrived at the harem with music and drums, and Cao Dongsheng shouted at the top of his voice: "Welcome the Queen to the palace!"

The curtain of the sedan chair was opened, and several palace maids helped Tian Yingying down.

Tian Yingying was frightened and wanted to shout: "I don't want to marry the emperor." But there were people everywhere and she didn't have the courage to shout.

Then I will wait until the emperor comes and beg him to release me. If he doesn't agree, I will die in this palace.

Thinking of this, I felt a little relieved. Two palace maids in front of me led the way, holding large red lanterns. Several palace maids beside me supported me, and a large group of palace maids and eunuchs followed behind me. They arrived at a palace, Qingya Garden.

This is Tian Yingying's bedroom. When they arrived at the door, only two palace maids led Tian Yingying in, and everyone else stood respectfully outside the door.

Two palace maids helped Tian Yingying sit on the phoenix bed, then they bowed and retreated.

The bedroom was quiet, and Tian Yingying quietly lifted her veil. Although she had been prepared, she was still stunned by the luxury of the bedroom.

The golden quilt on the bed was soft and comfortable, and the wooden bed was carved with dragons and phoenixes. Even the chairs were upholstered in soft silk. The various furnishings in the room all revealed the luxury and nobility of the imperial palace.

"The Emperor has arrived!" Cao Dongsheng shouted from outside the door, and then everyone knelt on the ground: "Long live His Majesty!"

Tian Yingying was so frightened that she hurriedly lowered her veil. She vaguely heard someone outside shout, "Stand up."

Then the palace door creaked open and a person walked in.

Tian Yingying clutched the quilt on the bed tightly, her palms full of sweat.
