During the morning court session, the ministers felt something was wrong as all the guards inside and outside the palace were replaced by new faces.
"What's going on?" asked Vice-Chancellor Guo Tianxiang.
The Chief Censor, Yelubahu, came up to Zahan and asked, "Prime Minister, what happened?"
Prime Minister Zahan shook his head, but in fact he was the only one who knew the truth.
(Note: The Bogile official system was implemented in the early Jin Dynasty and was later imitated by the Song Dynasty. For the sake of smooth reading, the novel has not been modified.)
When everyone arrived at the hall, the ministers were shocked.
Wanyan Zonghan was seen wearing a dragon robe and sitting on the dragon throne in the main hall, surrounded by a group of guards.
Everyone was shocked. Vice Minister Guo Tianxiang pointed at Wanyan Zonghan and shouted angrily: "Zonghan, what are you doing?"
Wanyan Zonghan said coldly: "Can't you see what I'm doing? I'm attending the morning court."
"I?" Guo Tianxiang asked, "Where is Your Majesty?"
Wanyan Zonghan threw down an imperial edict: "Your Majesty suddenly fell ill and passed away. Before his death, he passed the imperial seal and the throne to me. The country cannot be without a ruler for a day, so I have no choice but to ascend the throne."
The ministers were in a panic. The emperor died just like that, so there must be something fishy going on.
The Chief Censor, Yelu Bahu, asked, "Where is your majesty's dragon body?"
Wanyan Zonghan said calmly, "His Majesty died of a sudden illness. To prevent the spread of the disease, he was cremated."
This was tantamount to blatant rebellion, and even a fool could see that Wanyan Zonghan was plotting a rebellion.
Yerubahu jumped up and down, cursing, "Traitor Zonghan! How dare you kill the emperor and usurp the throne? You, you, you will not die a good death!"
Wanyan Zonghan slammed the table and said, "Wanyan Sheng has disregarded the Great Jin and openly surrendered, leading to the destruction of his country. How can he be worthy of the ancestors of the Great Jin? I will kill him to save the Great Jin for my great ancestor!"
What he said made sense, and some of the ministers fell silent. After all, if Wanyan Sheng surrendered to the Song Dynasty, the Jin Dynasty would be finished.
Guo Tianxiang stood up and pointed at Wanyan Zonghan: "You traitor who killed the king and usurped the throne, stop your sweet talk. You killed His Majesty, and Heaven will not tolerate that!"
Wanyan Zonghan's eyes flashed with ferocity: "Say it again."
Guo Tianxiang did not flinch: "You traitor who killed the king and usurped the throne!"
"Come here, drag the councilor Guo Tianxiang out and behead him."
Wanyan Zonghan's men immediately arrested Guo Tianxiang and took him away. Guo Tianxiang continued to curse: "Wanyan Zonghan, the regicide and usurper, is a scum of the Great Jin Dynasty."
Wanyan Zonghan swept his eyes across everyone's faces: "I will ascend the throne as emperor today. Who else would not submit?"
No one dared to answer, so Zahan stood up and said, "Congratulations to Your Majesty on ascending the throne. Long live Your Majesty!"
With someone setting an example, all the ministers knelt down and shouted "Long live the emperor", and Wanyan Zonghan was very proud.
Suddenly, he noticed that two of the ministers kneeling below were standing still. Upon closer inspection, they were Yelu Bahu and the emperor's father-in-law Tangku Buge.
Wanyan Sheng's queen Tangku Ruixi was imprisoned in the harem by Wanyan Zonghan. How could the father-in-law Tangku Buge not be angry when he learned that the emperor was killed.
Yelubahu was originally a military commander, but later became a civil official. He glared coldly at Wanyan Zonghan, who was sitting on the dragon throne: "You traitor, you killed the emperor and usurped the throne. You must be punished by the whole world!"
Wanyan Zonghan laughed heartily, then his face changed color: "The whole world wants to punish him? Does this world still belong to our Great Jin?"
Yerubahu was choked, and in anger he jumped up and rushed towards Wanyan Zonghan who was sitting on the dragon throne.
A guard had already stepped forward with a knife to stop them. Two guards attacked with their knives, but Yerubahu feinted a punch, snatched the sword from one guard, and then killed him with a backhand blow, then swung his knife to block the other guard.
Wanyan Zonghan's men quickly surrounded Yerubahu, and Yerubahu started fighting with the guards in the hall.
The ministers were horrified and hid aside to avoid being caught in the disaster.
Yelubahu was a valiant general, so how could these guards be his match? He slashed and killed with his sword as he charged towards the dragon throne in the main hall.
Four guards rushed forward, and after a few clashes of clashes, the Yerubahu killed the guards and pounced on Wanyan Zonghan.
Wanyan Zonghan didn't move, and Yerubahu jumped up and chopped him down with his sword.
The sword light covered Wanyan Zonghan's body for three feet. Wanyan Zonghan then slapped the dragon throne and flew up with the force of this slap.
With a bang, the dragon throne was split into two pieces by the Yelubahu.
Wanyan Zonghan was furious. The dragon throne, a symbol of imperial power, had been shattered by a sword. He turned, drew a sword from a guard's waist, and charged forward to engage Yelubahu.
As soon as Wanyan Zonghan was born, it was clear who was better. It was obvious that Yerubahu was no match for him.
After a few rounds of fighting, Wanyan Zonghan knocked Yerubahu's weapon away and put his sword across his neck.
The guards nearby rushed forward, and Yerubahu sighed and surrendered.
With a clang, Wanyan Zonghan threw the knife to the ground: "Drag him to the execution ground and torture him!"
The guards escorted Yerubahu away, and Wanyan Zonghan walked up to the emperor's father-in-law, Tangku Buge, and asked, "Father-in-law, do you have anything else to say?"
"Where is my daughter?" Tangku Buge said four words directly.
Wanyan Zonghan chuckled and said, "Your Majesty has passed away, and Queen Tangku Ruixi is now the Empress Dowager. I must treat her well. She is in the harem."
"Bah!" Tangkubuge spat at him: "Traitor!"
With Wanyan Zonghan's kung fu, he could have dodged it. But he didn't. Instead, he reached out and gently wiped the spit off his face: "My Lord, I will definitely treat the Empress Dowager well, hahahaha..."
Wanyan Zonghan walked back to the main hall with a laugh, then suddenly turned and pointed a vicious finger at Tangku Buge: "Drag him away, chop him up and feed him to the dogs!" Tangku Buge did not resist, allowing the guards to capture him and take him away. Surprisingly, no one dared to stand up and plead for the father-in-law; after all, no one wanted to offend this madman.
