Chapter 120: Heaven is Blind and Loyal Souls Are Destroyed

So the three of them surrounded the prince and found the Privy Councilor who issued an edict in his capacity as the regent prince to pardon Zhan Yunpeng. After the edict was drafted, the prince's personal guards were quickly sent to the execution ground.

At the execution ground, Zhan Yunpeng was escorted to the platform. Zhan Yunpeng shook his head and smiled bitterly. This was really retribution. This was the place where Li Xiaoyi and Xu Bingzhe were beheaded.

The sky was gray, and the square was already filled with people. The executioner untied the wooden shackle from around Kai Yunpeng's neck and pinned him to the ground. Lai Fu watched all this in wonder, still not understanding what it meant.

Zhan Yunpeng turned his head and looked at Lai Fu: "You will be alone from now on, take care!"

This was considered a farewell. Zhan Yunpeng never treated it as a dog, but instead thought of Lai Fu as his brother, a friend for whom he had shared life and death.

"Master Zhan is innocent!" Someone shouted.

"Release Master Zhan! Release Master Zhan!" the people raised their arms and shouted in unison. Officials from the Kaifeng government office were on the scene to maintain order.

Without any trial, and without the involvement of officials from the Ministry of Justice or the Ministry of War, Guo Jing simply read out the verdict: "In compliance with the Imperial Order! The prisoner, Zhan Yunpeng, is to be executed on the spot! Behead!"

The executioner took a sip of wine, held it in his mouth, and sprayed it on the dagger, then raised the dagger in his hand.

A dying person's mind is exceptionally clear, and Zhan Yunpeng recalled his first encounter with Zhao Huan. He remembered how this somewhat comical emperor was actually very wise in facing major events. With Zhao Huan, the Song Dynasty would surely become a powerful nation. It was a pity that he, Zhan Yunpeng, would not be able to see it.

Zhan Yunpeng was just about to close his eyes and wait for death when suddenly there was the sound of hoofbeats and a fast horse came galloping over: "Spare his life!" It was the edict from the prince.

Guo Jing ignored him and pointed at the executioner: "Behead!"

The executioner had already accepted bribes from Guo Jing, so he raised his knife and cut off Zhan Yunpeng's head, closing his eyes forever.

I recommend a book by a great guy called "The System for Helping Ghosts for Fun", which has been listed as a boutique. It is definitely a good book, and friends who like it can take a look.
