Chapter 17 Hope (shuhaige.net)

Jiang Shan rushed home with Jiao's mother.

The marinated seafood with dipping sauce was not there; the Qiao family father and son must have taken it out, but she wasn't worried about that.

But where did Shanlang go? He rarely had the chance to leave the village; the only place she had ever taken Sanlang was to the town. But she had just returned from the town and hadn't seen Sanlang.

"Mother, wait at home for Uncle Qiao and the others to come back. Tell them I went to the mountain to look for Sanlang, and tell them to go look for him there! Also, in the town, just search along this route, understand?"

Jiao's mother nodded and shook her head, her eyes brimming with tears, her face filled with fear and helplessness.

Jiang Shan didn't have time to give her many instructions. She hugged Jiao's mother tightly, then went to the kitchen, filled a few steamed cakes into her bosom, filled a bamboo tube with water, and hurriedly ran up the mountain.

Darkness falls very quickly in the mountains; by the time Jiang Shan reached the foot of the mountain, it was already completely dark.

In this world without streetlights or flashlights, the stars and moon overhead are the only guiding lights.

Jiang Shan shouted as he walked, his sharp voice seemingly about to burst from his throat, startling the birds into flight.

"Sanlang! Sanlang, where are you? It's your older sister!"

"Sanlang, tell your sister where you are!"

"Sanlang, can you hear your sister's voice?"

"Sanlang... Waaah... Sanlang!"

Saburo, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have lost you!

Countless regrets and heartache caused Jiangshan to collapse and weep bitterly.

The howling of wolves echoed through the darkness, the sound both near and far, mingling with Jiang Shan's cries and adding to the endless despair in everyone's hearts.

Saburo was so scared that he was numb. He hugged his scraped knee and let the tears fall drop by drop onto the wound, but he dared not cry out.

In the not-so-quiet darkness, he eerily heard a woman crying. The shrill cry, accompanied by wolf howls, made him tremble uncontrollably.

However, amidst the crying, he faintly heard the words "Sanlang," and someone was calling him!

It's my older sister!

His sister came to see him!

Jiang Shan's voice was hoarse from crying; the sound that came out was as if it had been cleaved in two by a knife, hoarse and filled with the pain of impending despair.

It was this voice that gave Saburo enough courage to crawl out of the endless darkness step by step and run towards the only light.

"elder sister!"

Sanlang's weak call was like heavenly music, instantly opening up Jiangshan's Ren and Du meridians.

Under the moonlight, she saw a small, thin, dark figure stumbling toward her.

She rushed over, hugged the dark figure tightly, and burst into tears.

The joy of regaining what was lost overshadowed all the pain and sorrow. At that moment, Jiangshan understood many things.

The siblings cried their hearts out, and Jiangshan didn't forget to give Sanlang steamed cakes and water to replenish his energy.

According to Sanlang, he went out to look for Jiangshan without eating lunch. He wandered around the mountain for three or four hours and was now hungry, thirsty, and tired.

Saburo nestled tightly in his sister's arms, tears welling in his eyes, as he gulped down the sweet steamed cake, feeling utterly at peace.

His small body was still trembling, and his hands were shaking violently. His small body nestled softly against Jiang Shan, causing Jiang Shan to feel waves of pain in his heart.

Before long, the voices of the Qiao family father and son could be heard from the foot of the mountain, along with the faint glow of firelight.

"Sanlang, Uncle Qiao is here to see us. Come on, let me carry you home!"

Sanlang leaned on Jiangshan's back with trust, and fell into a deep sleep as soon as he touched her back.

That night, looking at her two children who had been lost and found again, Jiao's mother said "I'm sorry" with tears in her eyes.

That night, Jiao's mother stayed by Sanlang's bedside, looking at the wounds on her young son's body, and didn't sleep a wink.

That night, Jiang Shan thought a lot and came to understand a principle.

The next day, Sanlang had a fever. Jiangshan stayed by his side from morning till night, coaxing him to take his medicine and making him several delicious "fruit salads".

For several days in a row, Sanlang could see the landscape as soon as he opened his eyes, and he was so happy that he was smiling in his dreams.

Jiangshan hasn't made steamed cakes or sold seafood in broth these past few days. She's been staying home every day to take care of Sanlang as he recovers, and also to protect her own pregnancy.

In just a few days, the siblings both gained weight.

Qiao Shi and his son came to visit Sanlang and asked about Jiangshan's future plans.

In fact, he had wanted to come and help these past few days, but unfortunately he couldn't.

Jiang Shan could tell that Uncle Qiao was genuinely worried for her, so she smiled and said, "Uncle Qiao, do you know what 'hunger marketing' is?"

"Huh?" Qiao Shi was completely bewildered. He understood hunger; it meant being starving!

But what exactly is marketing?

Jiang Shan smiled and said, "We've been keeping them waiting for so many days now, the seafood in broth at the restaurant should be served by now!"

Qiao Shi was still in a daze, but Qiao Sheng realized what was going on and asked anxiously, "You mean, the restaurant is making and selling seafood in a special sauce?"

Jiang Shan's smile grew even more mysterious. "Not only restaurants, but I reckon people outside are already selling seafood in broth. If you don't believe me, you can go to town and take a look tomorrow."

The next morning, Qiao Shi and his son hurriedly went to town, but returned with frosty expressions.

Just as Jiang Shan had predicted, there were already people in town carrying loads of seafood in broth and selling it along the streets!

So annoying!

Jiang Shan talked to them about marketing.

“Right now, supply is far less than demand. It’s like many people are lining up with their mouths open, waiting to share a delicious cake. But if the cake is sold out, does the seller have to keep making more? Even if he doesn’t, someone else will. Whoever makes the cake first, those people will share it until they are full!”

"If it were you, and after you've tasted the deliciousness of a cake, you want to eat it again but it's no longer available, would you try to buy one? If you still can't buy a cake after a long time, would you get anxious? And if one day you suddenly see someone selling cakes, would you buy one without hesitation?"

Jiang Shan's theory about cake left Qiao Shi stunned. After a long while, he asked blankly, "What is cake?"

country:"……!"

When that plan failed, she turned her attention to Qiao Sheng.

"Brother Joe, suppose you're forced to eat fake cakes because you can't get real ones, and one day real cakes suddenly appear in front of you in abundance, what would you do?"

Following Jiang Shan's guidance, Qiao Sheng said thoughtfully, "I will immediately go and buy lots of real cakes, and I will never buy fake cakes again, not even look at them!"

Jiang Shan shrugged and said, "That's how it is, Brother Qiao. We're about to get busy, very busy!"

Liu Da's business is as booming as ever. Whenever he goes to Guxian Town, all the seafood is sold out!

When Liu saw Jiangshan again, his eyes crinkled with laughter. Although he didn't know why Jiangshan hadn't bought seafood from him during this time, he was still very grateful to her.

He just didn't expect Jiangshan to bring him an even bigger surprise this time.

Jiang's Seafood Hot Pot has finally reopened after disappearing for half a month.

The queue was as long as ever.

Midway through, someone asked Jiang Shan, "Why are you selling it so expensively? Other places sell two bowls of seafood soup for three coins!"

Jiang Shan said politely, "Buying and selling is free. You can buy cheaper seafood there. My seafood in broth is non-negotiable!"

The person pursed their lips, fell silent, and obediently waited in line.
