Madam Cheng asked incredulously, "She...she's just a country girl, how dare she look down on you? You are the legitimate son of the Minister of Works, how could she be worthy of you!"
Fu Qiyuan sat down in the chair, waved his hand, and said in a tone that suggested he was too lazy to say more, "It's not a matter of whether she's good enough for me or not, it's that she looks down on me! I finally managed to get Huai'er to call me 'Dad,' so don't do anything rash. If you anger Shan'er, you can forget about having a grandson for the rest of your life!"
Madam Cheng's face turned pale and then flushed. She said with suppressed anger, "What's so good about that woman surnamed Jiang? There are plenty of noble ladies in the capital, any one of them is better than her. How could you...!"
"But I just love her! Didn't you go to great lengths to marry Father back then? Didn't Grandmother risk everything for you? I'm different from you. At least Shan'er doesn't hate me now, and Huai'er is willing to call me Father. Everything is moving in a good direction, isn't it?"
Cheng's face turned ashen, her lips trembled, and she nearly choked on her breath.
Granny Cheng hurriedly stepped forward to support Madam Cheng, patting her back, and couldn't help but say, "Young Master, how can you speak to Madam like that? Madam is only thinking of you. How can that Jiang woman be compared to Master?"
“What’s the difference? Father lives alone in the capital, completely cut off from the Fu family. He’s not even as good as Shan’er. At least Shan’er still has…”
"Enough!" Madam Cheng slammed her hand on the table. She looked at Fu Qiyuan with shock and anger, and said in a trembling voice, "Yuan'er, why do you have to stab your mother in the heart? Fine, you've grown up now, your mother can't control you anymore..."
Fu Qiyuan walked up to Madam Cheng and said softly, "Mother, you don't need to worry about my affairs with Shan'er. I will go and discuss it with Shan'er now and ask her to arrange accommodations for you. I will then escort you back to the capital tomorrow!"
Jiang Shan didn't even glance at Fu Qiyuan when he came in.
Prefect Leng chuckled and said, "Why are you so late? We've been waiting for you!"
Fu Qiyuan bowed deeply, offered a long string of apologies, and then sat down leisurely next to Jiang Shan.
Then everyone officially began their meal.
Looking at the empty chair opposite her, Cheng couldn't help but shed tears.
Bizhu asked timidly, "Madam, are we really going back tomorrow?"
She hasn't even spoken to the eldest young master yet!
The lady said that she brought her to Yuzhou this time to keep her close to the eldest young master and prevent that woman from getting close to him! If she performs well, she will be made the eldest young master's concubine when they return.
Granny Cheng glared at Bizhu and comforted Madam Cheng, saying, "Young Master didn't mean it; he was just saying it casually. Madam, please don't take it to heart."
Cheng covered her face with a handkerchief and remained silent.
After an unknown amount of time, Fu Shu knocked on the door and entered, instructing him to take Cheng Shi to the Jiang residence to rest.
As Cheng left the room, she glanced back and followed Fu Shu away, looking dejected.
Despite the poor lighting at night, Cheng could still tell that the Jiang residence was quite large and a very nice house.
This woman actually managed to buy such a nice house...!
The room arranged for Ms. Cheng was so good that she couldn't find any fault with it, and servants even brought them a late-night snack.
After entertaining Prefect Leng and his entourage, Jiang Shan returned to his residence.
Fu Qiyuan followed closely behind, but was stopped at the door by Jiang Shan when he entered.
"Your home is in the courtyard next door; this is the Jiang residence!"
When Fu Qiyuan bought this house, he had a plan. He set aside a small part of the house so that Jiangshan would have a place to stay when he was upset with Jiangshan.
She was still angry after all.
Fu Qiyuan bowed deeply to Jiang Shan, then turned and went to the neighboring courtyard without bothering her any further.
Fu Zhi glanced at the mansion with a melancholy expression, then silently followed behind his master. He was going to sleep on the footstool again!
The next day, Madam Cheng got up early and strolled around the garden accompanied by Granny Cheng and Bizhu.
As they walked, Bizhu asked about returning to the capital.
Cheng said impatiently, "That Jiang family is not to be trifled with; they have a lot of tricks up their sleeves. There's no use in you staying here!"
Bizhu said anxiously, "Madam, are we just going to stand by and watch that woman be welcomed into the manor by the eldest young master and become his young mistress?"
Madam Cheng snorted and said disdainfully, "It's not that easy! It's an arranged marriage, and as long as I, as her mother, don't agree, that woman can't enter the Fu family!"
"Then, what about that woman's child? Should we bring him back to the manor?"
Cheng paused, about to turn around and say something, when suddenly her gaze went blank.
Not far away, a small head peeked out from the archway. A little boy, about one or two years old, was tiptoeing along the base of the wall with his hands behind his back.
Cheng's eyes nearly popped out, and her heart raced instantly.
"Child, come here!" She couldn't help but beckon to the child.
The little boy put his finger to his lips and shushed her, saying unhappily, "Don't disturb my mother, keep your voice down!"
Bizhu screamed, "You...you are Jiang's son?"
The little boy turned his head and glanced at Bizhu, then angrily said, "You disturbed my mother's sleep, I'll hit you!"
Bizhu's jealousy and resentment were undisguised. Pointing at the little boy, she shouted, "No manners! The child raised by the Jiang family is indeed ill-mannered! How can he yell at his elders like that? He has completely disgraced the Fu family!"
Cheng was displeased and wanted to scold Bizhu, but the little boy stepped forward, hugged Bizhu's leg, and kicked her shin hard.
"Ouch!" Green Jade cried out in pain, fell to the ground with a thud, and cried and screamed while hugging her leg.
The little boy frowned, put his hands on his hips, and shouted, "Lili, she's disturbing Mom's sleep! Throw her out!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a boy of about seven or eight years old came running and jumping over, picked up Bizhu and dragged her outside.
Bizhu was in so much pain that she broke out in a cold sweat and cried out, "Madam, save me!"
The boy took something out and stuffed it into Bizhu's mouth.
It's finally quiet!
Terrified, Mrs. Cheng cried out, "Stop! Stop right now!"
The little boy was about to get angry when he suddenly heard a familiar voice behind him.
"Jiang Huai, are you asking for trouble again?"
Jiang Huai's face fell, and she ran up to Jiang Shan, hugged her leg, and said sweetly, "Mom, she's disturbing your sleep, throw her out!"
This is Jiang Shan's own catchphrase. Every time Jiang Huai gets up early and disturbs her from sleeping in, she always has Liang Chen throw him out.
Of course, she was just saying it casually, but Jiang Huai was serious.
Fu Li, of course, dared not continue and dragged Bi Zhu back.
"Mom's asleep, have you washed your face and brushed your teeth?"
"Yes, Mom will help me wash."
Jiang Shan kicked the leg ornament and said expressionlessly, "Go inside, Mom will help you wash."
After saying this, he casually nodded to the Cheng family and their servants, then took his son and left.
Fu Li threw down a bottle of medicine and disappeared after a few leaps.
Then, a stewardess and her maid came over and helped Bizhu up.
