Chapter 217 Two Souls

"Mother, Huai'er is hungry and wants to eat egg tarts!"

"Shan'er, wake up! Huai'er is crying, get up and comfort him!"

"Waaah, Mom, I don't want to sleep, I want to eat my birthday cake!"

"Shan'er, wake up! Can you really bear to abandon us, father and son?"

"Mother, Huai'er wants Mother, Huai'er won't leave, Mother, please hug Huai'er...!"

Jiang Shan had a bizarre dream, filled with all sorts of noisy sounds that disturbed her and made it impossible for her to continue.

After sleeping for three days and three nights, Jiangshan finally opened its heavy eyelids.

"She's awake! Miss is awake!" Liangchen exclaimed joyfully, and a group of people immediately rushed over.

Jiang Shan mechanically rolled his eyes, landing on Fu Qiyuan's haggard face, then on Sanlang's tearful little face, and finally on Jiao's tear-streaked mother's face.

She forced a smile and said in a hoarse voice, "Mother, Second Brother, Third Brother, what are you saying? It's so noisy!"

Erlang?

Fu Qiyuan gripped Jiang Shan's hand nervously, about to say something, when a deafening cry came from outside the door.

"Mother... mother...!"

Jiang Shan's heart tightened, and he suddenly sat up in bed, his eyes fixed on the doorway.

"Huai'er, don't cry, your mother is here!" Old Master Fu carried Jiang Huai and pushed open the door to come in.

"Didn't you just fall asleep? Why are you awake so soon?" Mr. Xunmei asked from the doorway.

"I don't know why, but he woke up as soon as he fell asleep, and then he started crying and screaming for his mother, so I had no choice but to bring him here!"

Jiang Huai had already seen Jiang Shan, and immediately stopped crying and started laughing. He slid off the old patriarch Fu's arms and rushed towards Jiang Shan like a little cannonball.

Jiang Shan hugged Jiang Huai tightly, a familiar and comforting feeling slowly enveloping her.

"Mother, Huai'er wants to sleep with you!" Jiang Huai rolled over and climbed onto the bed, hugging Jiang Shan's neck tightly.

Jiao's mother, Fu Qiyuan, and Sanlang had no choice but to stand apart and leave the bed for the mother and son.

"Huai'er...!" Jiang Shan murmured, hugging the little bun in his arms tighter and tighter.

At this moment, she clearly felt two different thoughts swirling in her mind: one was the original owner's emotions about the country, and the other was her own.

She is still somewhat dazed. The country has returned, and she still occupies this body. However, two different voices always appear in her mind, influencing each other, waxing and waning.

She can't fully adapt yet.

"Shan'er, how are you feeling? Is there anything else that's bothering you? Are you hungry? What would you like to eat? I'll make it for you." Jiao's mother's words carried a hint of caution and an undisguised anxiety.

"Sister... Big sister, what's wrong? Does your head still hurt?" Sanlang quietly tugged at Jiangshan's sleeve, his eyes filled with deep worry, as well as an indescribable joy.

Mother... Elder sister... Images flashed before Jiang Shan's eyes, and the scene of inner turmoil reappeared in his mind.

One of them said, "She's my biological mother, you have to love her!"

One said, "She abandoned you, who is mentally challenged, and you cannot forgive her!"

You can't blame her!

You can't accept her!

Two souls are desperately pulling each other apart.

Jiang Shan felt a throbbing pain in her head whenever she thought about how she couldn't accept Jiao's mother's abandonment of the original owner of Jiang Shan, as if something was forcefully pulling at her!

What the hell! She's your mother, not mine!

I'm standing up for you, but you're so forgetful! I can't be bothered with you!

Thinking about it this way, the pain in my head instantly disappeared.

Jiang Shan felt relieved and gave a faint smile, saying, "I'm fine, I'm just a little hungry and want to eat...noodle soup."

Damn, why do I feel so much better?

Forget it, it doesn't matter what we eat, let's keep things calm first!

Jiangshan's illness came on suddenly, and she passed away just as suddenly. They saw five or six doctors, but none could diagnose her, and they didn't know when she would wake up. Her family was frantic with worry!

Little Jianghuai hasn't slept well for several days in a row. He wakes up startled as soon as he falls asleep, crying for his parents. It breaks everyone's heart!

Jiang Shan's subsequent series of reactions finally calmed the anxious crowd down.

Everyone unanimously chose to bury that past event, whether intentionally or unintentionally, as if it had never happened.

Everyone knew perfectly well that the upheaval in the country was related to her background, and she clearly could not bear the years of being abandoned.

Once Jiang Huai was by Jiang Shan's side, he felt at ease and slept soundly, clinging to his mother's arm.

Only Fu Qiyuan stayed by Jiang Shan's side without leaving for even a moment.

It had only been three days, but it felt like three years. He was unshaven and looked so haggard that he was unrecognizable!

Jiang Shan clicked his tongue in disgust and said to Fu Qiyuan, whose eyes were swollen from lack of sleep, "I'm really fine. You should take a shower and get some sleep first. We can talk about it when you're rested and have more energy."

Fu Qiyuan smiled wryly and lowered his eyes, saying, "Shan'er, have you remembered too?"

I'd rather I knew nothing at all!

Jiang Shan inwardly grumbled, but had to say aloud, "Hmm, I remember some, but not many."

She was a simple-minded girl who had some memories but hadn't become smarter. Otherwise, she wouldn't have harbored no resentment towards her abandoned past!

Just as I was thinking that, ouch, my head throbbed with pain.

Fu Qiyuan noticed the change in Jiang Shan's expression and asked with a slight change in his own expression, "What's wrong? Did you remember something again?"

His hands clenched unconsciously, his heartbeat quickened, and an indescribable tension and panic slowly crept up his body.

Jiang Shan paused for a moment, then slowly shook his head and said softly, "Go, don't worry about me."

Fu Qiyuan opened his mouth, his palms already sweating.

"Shan'er, I'm sorry, when we were in Huaigu Village..."

"I'm really fine. My mind is just a bit muddled, and I need some time to sort it out. Listen to me, you should go and rest first. I'll be worried about you if you overwork yourself!"

Fu Qiyuan finally got up and left the room.

As he reached the door, he turned back and glanced at Jiang Shan, a glance that contained a multitude of emotions.

Guilt, heartache, affection, reluctance...

While Jiao's mother was making noodle soup for Jiangshan, Fu Ting dismissed the servants and appeared in the kitchen without a word.

It wasn't until the broth in the pot had almost boiled away that Jiao's mother realized that it wasn't Fangniang who had added firewood to start the fire, but Fu Ting.

Jiao's mother was speechless for a moment. What was this person doing here, causing trouble?

"Add more water and cook a bowl for me and Yuan'er too. I didn't eat enough this morning," Fu Ting said expressionlessly.

I know Yuan'er didn't eat anything, but you ate three steamed buns, a big bowl of crab roe noodles, and even the steamed egg custard that Huai'er didn't finish went into your stomach. How can you say you're not full?

Jiao's mother's lips twitched, and she turned around to add another ladle of water to the pot.

While Jiao's mother was kneading the dough, Fu Ting finally stopped what he was doing and quietly, almost greedily, looked at the woman in front of him.
