In the garden of the Jiang residence, every time Jiang Huai finished reciting a poem, Fu Ting would carve a small animal from the Chinese zodiac using chess pieces for him.
Three have already been carved.
Mr. Xunmei kept a dark face throughout, watching with anger as Fu Ting was reduced to a subservient grandson.
These two, grandfather and grandson, have ruined a perfectly good chess piece!
The patriarch of the Fu family stood by, proudly encouraging his great-grandson.
"Huai'er, have you decided what to carve next?" Fu Ting looked at Jiang Huai's rosy cheeks with affection, the carving knife turning incessantly in his hand.
Jiang Huai looked happily at the chess pieces in his hand, arranging them one by one on the table, muttering to himself, "Huai'er is a little dog, mother is a little sheep, father is a little tiger, uncle is... a rabbit, I want a rabbit!"
"Okay, Grandpa will carve another little rabbit for Huai'er. Huai'er has to finish memorizing her lessons first!"
Jiang Huai carefully put the chess pieces into his small pocket, touched them gently, and slowly moved to Mr. Xunmei's side to recite his lessons.
Suddenly, Sanlang shouted, "Sister!"
Everyone turned around and saw Fu Qiyuan carrying Jiangshan as he hurriedly walked in.
"What's wrong with Shan'er?"
"Shan'er has fainted, Father! Quickly send someone to find a doctor!"
...
Jiang Shan slept very restlessly. She could hear someone calling her, but she couldn't open her eyes no matter what she did.
Images and figures flashed through her dreams; she even dreamt of doing unspeakable things with Fu Qiyuan.
That's completely outrageous!
A group of people surrounded Jiang Shan, listening to her mumbled incoherently, staring at the doctor's furrowed brows, not daring to utter a sound.
"Doctor, how is my son?" Jiao's mother asked anxiously.
The doctor shook his head and said gravely, "I just remembered something; this seems to be the 'soul separation syndrome' described in medical books!"
"A disease of soul separation?" Everyone was shocked.
"Is there a cure?" Fu Qiyuan asked immediately afterward.
The doctor shook his head. "This young lady's condition is different from others. She has no stagnation of qi and blood, nor does she show signs of liver deficiency or evil invasion. Please forgive me for being unable to help."
Dissociative identity disorder... even doctors can't cure it... Jiao's mother felt a sudden darkness descend upon her.
“Mother… Erlang…” Jiang Shan murmured, and Jiao’s mother’s mind was immediately pulled back. She held Jiang Shan’s hand and wept uncontrollably.
"Shan'er, Mother is here. Open your eyes and look at Mother. Mother is right here. Mother will never leave you again!"
"Erlang..." Jiang Shan called out again with his eyes closed, and this time the call of Erlang was extremely clear.
Fu Qiyuan stepped forward, reached out and stroked Jiang Shan's face, and said softly, "Shan'er, I'm here! We're all here, don't be afraid!"
After a while, Jiang Shan called out anxiously again, "Jiang Huai, come quickly, come to your mother!"
Jiang Huai was also brought over and sat next to Jiang Shan, saying in a childish voice, "Mommy, don't go to sleep, let's go ride horses!"
Jiang Shan grasped Jiang Huai's chubby little hand precisely, and said breathlessly, "Jiang Huai, I'm your mother. Let's go back, don't stay here!"
Jiang Shan's words shocked everyone present. Fu Qiyuan gripped Jiang Shan's hand tightly, his eyes red, and said, "Shan'er, where are you taking Huai'er? Don't you want me anymore? Don't you want your mother and Sanlang anymore?"
Jiang Shan released Jiang Huai's hand as if all her strength had left her, and murmured, "Fu Qiyuan, come back, don't go with her...!"
"Shan'er, what's wrong with you? Shan'er, wake up! Open your eyes and look at your mother, look at Huai'er!"
Jiang Shan gently shook his head and said very slowly, word by word, "I am not Jiang Shan, Mother. She is back. She wants to take my son, she wants to take Fu Qiyuan, and she wants to drive me away!"
Jiang Shan spoke the last few words with extreme grievance.
Jiao's mother was struck as if by lightning.
Fu Qiyuan sat down by the bed and pulled Jiang Shan into his arms tightly, whispering in her ear, "Shan'er, you are ours, no one can drive you away! You are Huai'er's mother, the woman I love most, Sanlang's sister, and your mother's daughter. We won't let you go, you can't go anywhere!"
Jiang Shan seemed to be struggling; her breathing was rapid, and her expression was one of great pain.
"Shan'er, I've never told you how much I love you! I fell in love with you even before I found myself again! I slowly approached you, planning and scheming little by little, wanting to protect you, cherish you, and love you with all my might! If you're going to take Huai'er away, you must take me with you too, okay?"
Fu Qiyuan whispered in Jiang Shan's ear, and Jiao's mother felt as if her heart, liver, and lungs were shattered into pieces.
Jiang Shan's expression gradually calmed down. She sighed and called out "Fu Qiyuan" before falling into a deep sleep.
I had no dreams that night.
When Jiang Shan woke up in the middle of the night, he felt pain in his neck, heaviness in his chest, and numbness in his legs, as if he had climbed a mountain with a heavy load.
She opened her eyes and, through the moonlight streaming through the window, saw a huge head on her chest and a pair of small hands wrapped around her neck.
Jiang Huai not only lay on top of her to sleep, but also held onto her neck tightly.
Fu Qiyuan coiled around her like a serpent, his hands around her waist and his legs around hers.
The two, one big and one small, hung brazenly on her, pressing down on her so much that she could hardly breathe.
She shook her leg, reached out and grabbed Jiang Huai's hand from the back, forcefully moving his head away.
Well, he's drooling all over her neck!
"Fu Qiyuan, wake up! If you don't get up, I'm going to meet the King of Hell!"
Fu Qiyuan awoke with a start, his voice trembling, and cried out in terror, "Shan'er! Shan'er, don't go!"
Jiang Shan was startled!
"Are you dreaming?" Jiang Shan asked in a hoarse voice.
Fu Qiyuan paused for a moment in the darkness, then gently embraced Jiang Shan, "Shan'er, you're finally awake!"
Jiang Shan's lips twitched. "Get Jiang Huai out of here first, he's choking me to death!"
Fu Qiyuan belatedly realized what was happening and hurriedly carried Jiang Huai to the small blanket next to him.
Jiang Shan was finally able to breathe properly. She endured the stinging pain in her legs and said woodenly, "My legs are numb. Rub them for me."
Fu Qiyuan quickly turned around and started massaging Jiang Shan's legs.
After catching his breath, Jiang Shan said lazily, "I'm covered in sweat and want to take a shower."
Fu Qiyuan hummed in agreement. "Lie down properly, cover yourself with the blanket, don't get cold, the water will be ready soon!"
Jiang Shan watched Fu Qiyuan get up, watched him light the candle, and watched the candlelight illuminate his bloodshot eyes, feeling a pang of sadness in his heart.
He must have been terribly worried!
She let out a soft breath as she recalled that haunting dream.
In the end, the kingdom made a concession. She heard her say, "Erlang can't live without you. Marry him! Your mother and Sanlang also love you. Don't leave them."
Jiang Shan then asked her, "What are you going to do?"
She said, "I've gone very, very far, but I heard my mother's voice and came back. Only one of us can stay here. They want you to stay, so I have to go."
Later, Fu Qiyuan ran over and grabbed her, and another empire vanished.
But she was the invader!
