The day Jiang Huai left, the entire Grand Tutor's mansion was in an uproar.
Besides close relatives and friends, quite a few children came to see Jiang Huai off!
They were all accompanied by attendants and guards!
Some of them even rushed to the Grand Tutor's Mansion to see him off, escorted by their parents!
The number of people sent from Qingcheng Mountain was already quite large, and with the addition of Jiang Huai's own servants and attendants, the carriages formed a long line.
With the addition of those who came to see him off, the entrance to the Grand Tutor's mansion was quickly packed with people.
Several children cried and shouted as they tried to squeeze in front of Jiang Huai's car, calling out "Huai'er" and holding up the gifts they wanted to give him, their cries heartbreaking.
What should have been a touching scene turned into laughter that brought tears to the eyes of the adults.
Jiang Shan and Fu Qiyuan's sorrow at parting dissipated completely, and Jiang Shan had to step forward to smooth things over, help accept the gifts, and even have the maids carefully write down which young master from which family gave what, and so on.
Minister Qin watched as his young nephew, carried on the head of a servant, struggled to reach Jiang Huai. He had just handed over the box when, before he could even speak, he was pushed away again.
The little nephew's crying made Minister Qin laugh heartily.
If this keeps up, it'll be dark soon!
The old patriarch Fu called An Yi over and whispered a few words to him. An Yi then grabbed Jiang Huai and leaped up, landing on the high eaves of the Grand Tutor's mansion.
Jiang Huai cupped his little hands into a megaphone shape, crouched down, and shouted loudly, "Listen to me, all of you, be quiet! I'll be back, and I'll come play with you all again when I return. When I turn four, I'll invite you all to my birthday party in the garden, okay?"
"Okay!" the children answered in unison.
"I can't take your gifts with me for now. They'll stay at the Grand Tutor's residence. My mother will send them to me once she's sorted out the gift list. When I come back, I'll bring you lots and lots of gifts! Now, you should all go home first. I'll meet you again when I get back!"
The children thought about it and agreed! They had already achieved their goal: to give out the gifts and then wait to receive Jiang Huai's gifts and notes. That was enough for them!
Without hesitation, each family left one attendant to deliver the gifts, while the rest returned home.
"Master, let's go quickly!" Jiang Huai hugged An Yi's waist, gently put him back on the horse, flicked the whip, and set off.
Amidst the chaos, Jiang Huai didn't have time to say much. He turned around and waved to Jiang Shan and Fu Qiyuan, wiping the sweat from his brow as he spurred his horse hard.
Goodbye, goodbye!
Jiang Shan clicked his tongue, took Jiao's mother's arm and sighed, "Mother, do you think this boy has completely let himself go since he went to Qingcheng Mountain? I always feel that your precious grandson is like a wild horse that has broken free..."
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Li Yang shot him a glare. "How can you talk about your own child like that?"
Jiang Shan pursed his lips and muttered, "Learn from the past! Look at Rong Yue, how many days a month does she even stay at home now?"
It has to be said that Jiang Shan's words successfully hit Li Yang's sore spot.
She gritted her teeth, angrily turned her head away, and ignored Jiang Shan.
Jiang Shan chuckled and stepped forward, turning Li Yang's shoulder to her side, and said ingratiatingly, "Good sister, don't be angry! From now on, you're in charge of Rong Yue's affairs. Whenever you want him to come back, I'll have someone send him back, okay?"
Li Yang rolled his eyes halfway through, then stopped.
Her son doesn't listen to anyone, but he never dares to be careless when it comes to Jiang Shan, the proper boss!
This is truly like using brine to curdle tofu; one thing can subdue another!
Thinking of this, her anger turned to joy.
“Sending children on long journeys is a legitimate experience. They will grow up one day. How can we, as parents, bear to restrict them and not let go? I am not that foolish!”
As he spoke, Li Yang felt a surge of pride and self-satisfaction for no apparent reason.
A few days ago, my elder brother praised Yue'er to the skies in front of all the concubines in his harem, making several princes pale in comparison. He was very proud of himself!
Moreover, Yue'er has lost some weight, and several ladies have already privately asked her about Yue'er's marriage plans, hehe!
Madam Jiao patted Li Yang's hand and said, "Children and grandchildren have their own blessings. No matter what kind of separation it is, it is all part of growth and experience. Let's not worry too much! Come on, let's go inside and have a cup of tea. Let's have dinner at the mansion before going back!"
Li Yang immediately helped Jiao's mother inside with great joy.
As the crowd gradually dispersed, the last person said goodbye to Jiang Shan and Fu Qiyuan before the two of them went inside hand in hand.
Of Sanlang's brothers, only three remain in the Grand Tutor's mansion. Even Jiang Lin and Jiang Tao have gone to Qingcheng Mountain with Jiang Huai.
Xiao Qi glanced at Sanlang and Jiang Yi and said, "Sixth Brother, Second Brother, after you finish the provincial examination, let's go to Qingcheng Mountain to see Huai'er!"
Sanlang pouted and said, "I just finished the preliminary examination, and I can't take the provincial examination until next year."
"Aren't you already a Xiucai (a successful candidate in the county-level imperial examination)? You can take the provincial-level examination now!"
Sanlang scratched his head. "But my maternal grandfather said it would be safer to take the exam next year."
"Oh, Sixth Brother, Second Brother and I both believe in you. Let's take the exam this year, and after the exam we'll go see Huai'er and Fourth and Fifth Brothers!"
"Then, shall I give it a try this year?"
"Give it a try, Saburo, you can definitely do it!"
The three little ones finalized Sanlang's exam plan in just a few words.
When the beloved little darling of the family suddenly leaves, everyone inevitably feels a sense of loss.
Grand Tutor Cheng was doing alright, as he still had several grandchildren to take care of and had to attend classes at the Sacred Academy, so he didn't have much time to think about his great-grandchildren.
