Chapter 140 Picking up a pretty girl from an ancient tomb 24

Fu Yueyue is dead.

Just before she was about to hold her wedding with Pei Yichen.

It is said that she met with an accident after encountering a drunk man on her way back from dancing late at night.

The police said it was an accident and that to protect the privacy of the victim, they did not disclose too many details.

Zhou Shuo accompanied Ruan Mian to the cemetery.

The sky is gray and the drizzle is falling, which always gives people a gloomy feeling.

The place is shaded by huge trees overhead, and countless marble tombstones stand neatly in the silent cemetery.

Take a look around.

Her parents did not show up, perhaps because they felt unbearable or were busy dealing with the scandal following their daughter's death.

The continuous rain soaked her coat, and Zhou Shuo was afraid that she would be cold, so he added an extra scarf.

The man was wearing a dark suit and holding a black umbrella, standing silently in the distance, his face expressionless.

It wasn't until she got closer and saw the photo on the tombstone that the girl couldn't believe it. Was it really an accident?

The funeral was not grand, and there was no sign of the sadness that Pei Yichen should have as a fiancé.

Just a hasty burial.

No one even saw Fu Yueyue's coffin and body.

Her family members did not make trouble and just accepted their daughter's death.

Ruan Mian is almost five months pregnant and must get enough sleep during the day, otherwise she will easily feel tired and lack energy. After walking for a while on a rainy day, she was so weak that she could hardly stand.

"Mianmian, let's go back. Your body needs rest."

Just as they were about to leave, Pei Yichen stopped the girl.

The man hid the sinister look in his eyes, frowned and didn't look at her belly, for fear that he would lose control and do something to hurt her.

He still harbored hostility towards the fetus.

"I have something to talk to you about. Don't worry, it won't take long."

Seeing that the girl did not refuse, Zhou Shuo just stood there quietly and waited.

After walking a few more steps,

Pei Yichen tilted the umbrella in his hand slightly towards her head, and there was a hint of gloom in the man's cold eyes.

His tone was casual and mixed with sarcasm.

"I just want to remind you that the people around you are the real demons."

Ruan Mian was confused. Was he talking about Zhou Shuo?

She glared at him with an unhappy frown.

"You're trying to sow discord again. Why don't you tell me how Miss Fu died?"

The man raised his eyebrows and spoke in a sinister tone.

"You want to know? Then I'll tell you..."

He bent down, and his handsome features suddenly became larger, which made him look even more frightening in the dim light.

The girl took a step back, clutching her stomach, her heart pounding.

"I don't want to know. I'm leaving now. Don't say bad things about Zhou Shuo anymore."

The girl walked away without looking back. Pei Yichen, holding a black umbrella, disappeared into the darkness under the shade of the trees.

"You will regret it, Mianmian..."

Ever since returning from Fu Yueyue's funeral that day, Ruan Mian has been having recurring nightmares.

In her dream, she returned to the horrible storage room again. It was filled with glowing jars, but this time there were new ones. Fu Yueyue's head and internal organs were soaked in liquid.

Wake up.

The girl's neck was already covered in cold sweat and her heart was beating rapidly due to fear.

She wanted to tell herself that it was just a dream, but she couldn't really calm down. The body she hadn't seen was always unsettling.

Zhou Shuo was awakened by her movement and held her in his arms in a daze.

"What's wrong? Baby."

The boy fell asleep again after saying that.

The girl huddled in her bed, trying to calm down, but the nightmare wouldn't let her go.

She closed her eyes, completely awake, and recalled the scene she had just dreamed of, feeling uneasy.

What does Pei Yichen mean?

Ruan Mian knew that the other party was not the type to speak nonsense.

However, looking at the boy next to her with his eyebrows tightly closed, his honey-colored skin looked sunny and healthy.

He was afraid that she was cold and unconsciously pulled the blanket to cover her. Would he hurt himself?

How is that possible?

Since she couldn't go out often during her pregnancy, the girl sat on the sofa and watched Zhou Shuo mop the floor.

There was confusion in her beautiful eyes.

The boy thought she was hungry, so he half-knelt in front of the girl and asked gently.

"What would you like to eat tonight? Lotus root stewed with pork ribs or corn and chicken soup."

The chestnut hair could not hide the boy's childishness, but his heart and eyes were full of Ruan Mian.

She made a judgment in her heart and did not believe Pei Yichen's words.

So she just asked the question that had been bothering her for a long time.

"Zhou Shuo, I don't seem to see any photos of my uncle in your house."

It was just a casual question, but when the boy received this sentence, he was stuck like a robot that suddenly heard an unfamiliar command.

"Ah, Mianmian, what are you talking about? I didn't hear you."

The distance was too close, and he usually had no hearing problems.

Ruan Mian was stunned for a moment.

"Oh, never mind. It's nothing important."

Aunt Xu was sick, so Zhou Shuo took leave to go home and take care of her.

The girl followed.

When they met again, the woman had aged several years due to illness, and her haggard face had lost its former glow.

Looking closely, there are more silver threads in the black hair, and wrinkles at the corners of the eyes have appeared at some point. No one can stop the wear and tear of time.

The girl sat beside the bed and chatted with her. Aunt Xu looked at the round curve under the loose skirt with a loving look.

She thought the person inside was her grandson/daughter.

"I'm old now, and my greatest hope is to live long enough to help you raise your children. That would make me content."

Hearing this, the girl lowered her head in guilt, not daring to look her in the eye.

Zhou Shuo was busy in the kitchen, and Aunt Xu chatted for a few words before slowly falling asleep.
