Ji Yan

Ji Yan

Ye Xuanling spread the herbs on a bamboo dustpan to dry in the sun, as was customary. However, in this weather, the herbs dried slowly, and the herbs she needed urgently had already been taken away by the master to dry.

Smoke curled up from the kitchen, and the aroma of the stove mixed with the scent of a string of mugwort hanging in front of the door rolled towards her.

An old rope hung by the side of the yard, a piece of string left by the master to hang long strips of dried herbs. The hemp rope had turned gray with age, but she was reluctant to replace it.

Suddenly, there were the sounds of footsteps coming closer.

The master held a palm-leaf fan in one hand and put the other hand behind his back: "How many times have I told you that the Poria cocos should be cut into small pieces to dry in the sun! Why are you cutting it so big?"

Even the graybirds, flying over the wall, were startled back by the shrill sound. The osmanthus petals swayed to the ground and mixed with the soil.

The palm-leaf fan was about to hit the back of Ye Xuanling's hand, but she dodged it deftly. She scratched her head and chuckled, "Got it, Master."

It has been unknown how many years since Ye Xuanling stayed with her master. In her memory, there is no parent or relative, only her master.

The master is now old and has never traveled far.

Early in the morning, the master began to arrange the work for the day: "Xuanling, go to Xishan today to see if there is any Coptis chinensis. The supply of Coptis chinensis in the county is currently in short supply, and many people suffer from carbuncle..."

Before the master finished speaking, she pointed at herself in surprise and asked, "I'm going alone?"

"You stinky leaf, do you really need a master to accompany you?"

"Oh, Master, I was just kidding." Ye Xuanling said, "How could I let you go with me? You still have to see a doctor at the clinic."

"Hmph, I'm glad to know."

In the morning, when the master was seeing patients in the clinic, she would go in the back to get medicine. Although her medical skills were not as good as the master's, she could still cure minor illnesses.

Whenever the master told the patient's condition, Ye Xuanling would pick up the medicine without looking at the prescription given by the master.

Ye Xuanling seemed to have thought of something and said, "Master, when I come back from Xishan, can you give me a few of your files to look at?"

"You little girl, you haven't even learned about common diseases yet, and you still want to read the files?"

"Oh, Master, please."

"……no."

Ye Xuanling had never seen the contents of the file. She had only seen her master flipping through it a few times, but every time she caught him flipping through it, he would immediately hide it.

What secrets are in there? Why can’t she see it?

She will definitely see it, it's just a matter of time.

After lunch, Ye Xuanling carried a bamboo basket up the mountain. It would be great if she could dig up some ginseng or Polygonum multiflorum that was dozens or hundreds of years old.

Normally, there should be a lot of medicinal herbs in Xishan. Could it be that they have all been dug up?

Half an hour passed, and there was no progress...

An hour passed, and there was no progress...

Three hours passed, and I only found a few Coptis chinensis plants...

As the sky gradually darkened, she thought again and again and decided to return to the clinic first. Otherwise, her master wouldn't even know she was missing.

The autumn wind was sharp, and leaves were rustling to the ground. The barren slopes were covered with dilapidated mounds, crammed together in disorder, like sun-cracked pottery jars, unattended.

The loess turned up the grass roots, and the sparse weeds trembled in the wind, looking gray and lifeless.

At the hour of Xu, Ye Xuanling adjusted the straps of the bamboo basket again and swallowed unconsciously.

I went up the mountain to collect herbs, but after searching for a long time I didn't find much. I could only say sorry to the master.

In order to return to the clinic quickly, she found a shortcut. Although it was the place where people dumped corpses, Ye Xuanling adhered to the belief that if you believe it, it exists, and if you don't believe it, it doesn't exist, and she resolutely embarked on this road.

"Zeng!" It was the sound of a sword.

Ye Xuanling was startled and hid behind a pile of dirt, carefully looking forward.

The two men were dressed alike, their swords drawn.

One person had his back to her, while the other stood opposite her. Ye Xuanling could just see that person's face clearly.

The moon is bright in the sky, as bright as day.

The man facing Ye Xuanling had a creepy scar on the right side of his cheek.

Why is she so unlucky? She doesn't want to die.

The scarred man was agile, as if he had planned this for a long time. He gripped his sword tightly, and slashed the blade from top to bottom towards the faceless man. The fallen leaves under his feet were like a flock of startled birds.

He scolded: "I never talk nonsense, today I will kill you!"

The blade whimpered, and the faceless man was clearly disdainful, ignoring the scarred man. The frost blade attacked him, and he swiftly bent his body, raised the scabbard in his hand and picked up the blade.

The blades entangled and suddenly bounced apart, and the two men each took a half step back.

The scarred man flipped the sword over with his hand and thrust it forward!

Without warning, the flash of a knife tore through the frozen air between the two men. The scarred man's knife slashed straight towards the faceless man's abdomen.

The scarred man didn't stop moving. He took out his sword and stabbed it straight at the faceless man's neck.

The scarred man smiled as if threatening: "You should have been dead long ago."

The faceless man was not discouraged yet. He took advantage of the moment when the scarred man was relaxed and made a quick move, stabbing the scarred man hard in the chest.

"Are you scared?" the faceless man said, "Let me help you get rid of it."

The faceless man took away his sword and questioned him step by step: "Such excellent martial arts skills, it's a pity..."

Ye Xuanling didn't hear the rest of the words clearly.

The faceless man broke his neck with his hands. The scarred man's eyes darkened and he fell down immediately.

Until the scarred man died completely, the faceless man fell to the ground, holding his abdomen.

He pulled out a knife from somewhere and struck backwards.

The knife flew straight towards Ye Xuanling and hit her feet. Ye Xuanling didn't dare to breathe, and of course her legs were weak, so she didn't dare to move out.

"Don't be anxious or afraid." The faceless man's voice was hoarse, but it couldn't hide the warmth in it.

"Tell me the differences between you and him, and I promise to make your death more impressive than his."

Ye Xuanling didn't dare to make a fuss. She just squatted there and stopped secretly looking at him.

Only a fool would go there. Just take a detour later.

"Puff!" A small stone hit my shoulder.

Ye Xuanling screamed in her heart, her face showing pain, but she gritted her teeth and endured it, just trying to move closer to see if he could hit her.

"puff--"

"puff--"

After several stones missed the target, the man stopped his action.

Seeing that he had stopped moving, Ye Xuanling stood up and prepared to leave, but unexpectedly a stone hit her forehead.

She gritted her teeth in anger, but when she saw the man in front of her fall down, she suddenly stood up.

Her legs were weak and she was a little unsteady, so Ye Xuanling supported herself on the tree next to her and slowed down for a few seconds.

The man in front stopped moving and slowly squatted down and lay on the ground.

Ye Xuanling walked over and stared at the man in front of her. The man had his eyes closed and seemed to be waiting for death.

She said nothing, like a coroner observing a corpse.

Squatting down, the soil soaked with red blood was moist. She picked up a thumb-thick branch at her feet and hit his strong and powerful arm with all her strength.

The man immediately grabbed her slender wrist. Ye Xuanling was startled and tried hard to shake him off.

The owner of the arm looked deflated. He had been holding her tightly just now, but now he let go.

I have a muscular body, but I didn't expect that I am still not as good as her.

"If you don't save me." The voice was hoarse and low, leaving people at the bottom of the valley, unable to move, "I will kill you."

Ye Xuanling's fingertips trembled slightly, and her eyes were fixed on the sword. The blade was stained with bright red blood, and most of the sword body was covered with mud.

"Wow, you're in this state now, and you still want to kill me?" Ye Xuanling rolled up his sleeves, picked up the silver sword beside him, and held it tightly in his hand.

The man laughed: "If you don't help, you will lose your only chance to feel better. What a pity."

[Only 70 days left to live]

Her pupils dilated, and she waved her hands in front of her eyes without caring about the person on the ground.

This is

Before she could react, characters continued to jump on the panel in front of her.

[Ji Yan, only seventy days left to live.]

Ji Yan, him?

What do the words on this panel mean? Can he live for another seventy days?

Doctors have a kind heart and are dedicated to saving lives. Ye Xuanling doesn't want to save someone who wants to kill her.

But it seemed that the panel was causing her inner conflict.

If she rescued him, what if he still wanted to kill her?

She was struggling, but her hands didn't stop moving. After helping Ji Yan up, she looked at his injuries. His abdomen was pierced by a sword. She tore off a piece of cloth from the corner of his clothes and lifted his clothes.

Ji Yan lowered his head, half-closed his eyes, and gritted his teeth to endure the pain.

Unexpectedly, this person was quite careful about his life. Ye Xuanling asked, "Please don't cause me any trouble. I'm saving you, so please don't kill me."

"But I'm not too worried. After all, you're not the only one who can kill people." Ye Xuanling smiled at him in a gentle voice.

Ye Xuanling tried hard to hide her fear and worry. Her voice trembled slightly, and she was a little uncertain: "I can't guarantee that I can cure you. I'll give you a simple treatment and take you to the clinic."

When she was scared, her voice lost its strength and didn't sound as clear as before. The words she said were extremely inconsistent with her overall appearance.

Soft with a hint of turbidity, non-aggressive.

Ji Yan kept laughing, and Ye Xuanling didn't understand what he was laughing at.

She pulled him up from the ground.

Her hands were stained with mud and blood. She twisted them and thought, "Wow, so disgusting." Then she rubbed the dirt onto him.

I have to say, this person is really heavy and it is really tiring.

Ye Xuanling said in a bad tone: "If I lose my life saving you, I will peel off your skin first."

Ji Yan ignored her.

Ye Xuanling seemed unconvinced and twitched the corner of her mouth: "Take off your clothes."

It would be too troublesome to tear his clothes off; it would be much quicker to just let him take off his outer robe.

Ji Yan was injured and felt weak all over. He couldn't even open his eyes. His expression was full of confusion.

In the dim moonlight, Ji Yan opened his eyes, and his eyes were completely distorted in Ye Xuanling's eyes.

His eyebrows were sharp, his nose high. His bone structure was good, but his face was stained with mud and blood. His peach-shaped eyes had a hint of red at the corners, whether it was blood or just an innate trait.

Her figure was reflected in the gray pupils.

For convenience, she wore a coarse linen shirt, with her trouser legs tied at her ankles. Her hair was tied up with a willow hairpin, and she wore no makeup. But she was still a beauty.

She has black eyebrows, a high nose, round eyes, red lips, white teeth, and clear skin, as luminous as white porcelain.

His long eyelashes cast a small shadow in the silvery light, and two beads of blood hung on his lashes, threatening to drip. His pupils were gray, and his skin was as white as a withered bone, sending a chill down his spine.

Ji Yan laughed out loud, with a hint of disbelief in his eyes. The man in front of him was actually still alive.

He is still alive and well.

His hair was messy, his smile was ferocious, and there was a hint of surprise in his voice.

The last words Ye Xuanling heard before he died were:

"I finally found you."
