Ulcers/2【Repair】

Ulcers/2【Repair】

Ji Yan changed his clothes because his senior brother's peacock-patterned clothes were too eye-catching on him.

He raised his chin towards the scroll in her hand, looking at her seriously, but his tone was a little off-key and lazy: "How about I help you?"

Ye Xuanling turned around and said, "Okay, go and break the door open for me!"

Ji Yan smiled and nodded, then turned and walked out the door.

"Wait a minute, this disease is contagious, cover your mouth and nose." Ye Xuanling reminded him, handing him a face cloth she had found somewhere. "Send the people out first, and send my master to her room."

Ji Yan waved his hand and said loudly: "Remember! Little Leaf."

What was Little Leaf called? Only the master called her that. Ye Xuanling came to her senses and ignored all that.

Anyway, which ancient book is that? He searched for it. "Bang!" Several bamboo scrolls, held in a bamboo basket on the top shelf, suddenly fell to the ground.

Ye Xuanling turned her head, squatted down, picked up a scroll and looked at it. Is this a file?!

The master won't let her touch these.

After searching for a while, Ye Xuanling found it in the corner of the bookshelf.

The book "Peeking into the Sky" records ulcers. Legend has it that a certain city in the previous dynasty also suffered a sudden onset of the disease. Patients would ulcerate all over their bodies yet still be able to walk. Unpleasant red and purple bumps would appear on their faces, with yellow-white pus oozing from the edges, emitting a nauseating, eerie odor.

But those things were not ordinary. The red pimples were like being pushed up by foreign objects, swelling the skin. After the skin was broken, the filth flowed out and the white bones could be seen under the skin that was so thin that it was almost transparent.

After the entire city was infected, not many people died, but the people living in the city were like zombies, without souls or consciousness, just a body left.

Ye Xuanling was worried. If there was no cure, everyone in the county would become like that.

There is only one clinic in the county, so everyone gathers here. But I heard that the county magistrate likes books, so I wonder if the disease of ulcer is recorded in those books.

She had read all the books on her master's shelf, but apart from the one in her hand, she had not found any other records about ulcers.

I don’t know if it’s in that basket of files.

Ye Xuanling was still searching, but her mind was filled with anxiety. She did not look at the file, but cast her eyes on the top shelf of the bookshelf.

Ye Xuanling was quite familiar with these books, but she didn't often read the top layer.

She didn't need a stool; she could reach the two yellowed books by standing on tiptoe.

After getting the book, Ye Xuanling quickly flipped through it. The pages were yellowed and the cover was covered with a thin layer of dust.

In the far corner, it was written in faint, sloppy handwriting: Those who are infected with ulcers have bodies like brittle wood and flesh like rot. For detailed symptoms and solutions, please see "Dong Liang's Notes".

"Dong Heng's Notes" She had no impression of this name, so she stood up and continued to look at the bookshelf carefully.

Really not.

What should I do then.

Ye Xuanling pursed her lips, her fingers unconsciously digging into her nail beds. Didn't Liu Dakou have a lot of books? Would a cowardly county magistrate be willing to lend his precious books?

Just as I was thinking about it, the door on Ji Yan's side had already opened.

She dropped the book, tied her face cloth, and ran over quickly.

"I'm going to the county government office to look for Liu Dakou," Ye Xuanling said, pulling Ye Qing over. "Sorry, everyone, this illness is a bit serious. Please stay home and don't go out."

After hearing this, the dozen or so people stopped pestering Ye Qing and simply took two steps back. One of them, feeling a little scared, asked Ye Xuanling, "Excuse me, is this disease curable?"

Although she wasn't confident, it was best not to tell anyone whether there was a solution. Ye Xuanling nodded and said, "Yes, please go back first to prevent others from contracting this disease."

After the group of people left, she turned back and sent Ye Qing back to the house.

"Why did you go to the county government office?" Ye Qing frowned, his expression not looking good. "You know Liu Dakou's character."

"I know, but what can I do?" Ye Xuanling looked at her seriously. "Master, since you know about the ulcer, you shouldn't have let them in."

Ye Qing sighed and did not defend himself.

Ye Xuanling didn't know what to do, but at least the master should stay in his own room now.

Ji Yan was still standing in the hall, his face still pale, but his physical presence didn't betray that he had returned from the mass grave. Ye Xuanling glanced at him, apologetically saying, "You should stay here too. Don't leave yet."

Ji Yan's gaze fell on her, but his eyes were like a pool of shallow water, reflecting her tenacity and determination.

His eyes were strange and Ye Xuanling couldn't understand them.

He didn't say anything, just nodded slightly.

Pushing open the front gate, she found the place wasn't as chaotic as she'd imagined. It was just that some of the people who were infected hadn't listened to her advice and stayed home. She couldn't care less; her most urgent task was to borrow the book as soon as possible.

The two stone lions on the left and right of the red-painted gate looked down at the chaotic street with wide-eyed glares.

She knelt in front of the county government office and shouted urgently, "I am Ye Xuanling from Qingye Medical Clinic. I heard that you have a rich collection of books. I would like to borrow some of yours to take a look. Please let me know!"

The yamen runner at the door looked at Ye Xuanling as if she were an ant, his eyes full of impatience: "The county magistrate is worried about the epidemic, no one is allowed to disturb him!"

Ye Xuanling did not give up, but simply kept shouting, "Please report to me and let me borrow the county magistrate's collection of books!"

The bailiff was tired of listening and waved his hand, telling her not to waste her energy.

Seeing that she had no intention of leaving, the yamen runner thrust his water and fire stick forward and shouted, "Get out of here! If you continue to pester me, I'll beat you with a stick!"

The water and fire stick was about to reach her chest, but she nimbly retreated and dodged it.

Ye Xuanling couldn't help but glance at him, staring at him intently.

"What are you staring at?!"

"What's making so much noise at the door?" A well-dressed man with a goatee walked out from behind the door.

The gray-red robe on his body was like a dried bloodstain, covering his entire body.

Liu Dakou spoke in a pretentious tone and stroked his beard.

The yamen runner bowed and said, "Sir, the female doctor from Qingye Clinic wants to borrow your books."

"My book is worth a fortune, and I can lend it to you. Don't be so unreasonable!"

Ye Xuanling: "County Magistrate, aren't you worried about your ulcer?"

Ye Xuanling looked at the person in front of her without any fear, but her voice changed due to anxiety.

"Your Excellency has a vast collection of books; perhaps one of them contains the antidote." Ye Xuanling bowed, "I beg you to lend me the books for a moment. I am willing to sign a written agreement, but only for a moment."

"Written receipt?" Liu Dakou sneered.

Hearing this, he immediately changed his words: "Xuan Ling is willing to guarantee it with her life!"

"Life? How much is your life worth?"

"I care about the people and have my own ideas." Liu Dakou sneered and waved his hand, "Drive them away!"

The order shattered her last illusion. The yamen runners stepped forward and pushed her roughly.

Ye Xuanling stumbled backward, tripped on a step, and was about to fall. At that moment, a cold, strong hand firmly supported her lower back.

Ji Yan appeared behind her at some point. He supported Ye Xuanling and protected her behind him.

He didn't look at the yamen runners, but his cold gaze passed over them and fell on Liu Dakou's fat, white face.

Liu Dakou felt a little uncomfortable being stared at, but he pretended to be calm: "Where did this reckless man come from? Are you trying to rebel? Catch him!"

The yamen runners relied on their numbers and received orders, and they all raised their water and fire sticks and rushed forward shouting.

Chaos broke out at this moment.

But it was not near the county government office, but at a corner of the street not far away.

A commoner who was originally curled up in the corner, his body covered with red spots and pustules, suddenly twisted his neck and made a "crackling" sound with his limbs.

The twisted and deformed wrist madly lifted up an old man who was trying to help a child, breaking the old man's spine.

The sound of brittle wood breaking also rang out at this moment, but it was not the old man's scream that pierced the eardrums.

The old man couldn't shout and could only sob vaguely. The screams came from passers-by on the side of the road.

"This monster eats people!" The crowd was in an uproar and scrambled to leave the place.

The infected citizen had red bloodshot eyes all over, and due to collisions with others, most of the pustules on his body had burst, emitting a turbid yellow-white liquid.

The sticky pus covered his entire body, and some of it splashed onto the child.

He shook off the collapsed old man and rushed towards the county government office where the crowd was the densest!

His movements were stiff and quick, and his pale, thin hand reached towards Liu Dakou.

"Protect the lord!" the yamen runners roared, not caring about Ye Xuanling and Ji Yan. They just aimed the water and fire sticks at the monster coming from a distance. The sticks hit it, but it seemed not to feel the pain and rushed around recklessly.

A yamen runner was knocked to the ground by the "monster", and the fishy-smelling pus flowed down his body to his face.

In the chaos, the "monster" broke through the crowd's obstruction, and its bony and pale hand suddenly stretched out and pounced on Liu Dakou.

Liu Dakou was so frightened that he instinctively stepped back, tears streaming down his fat, pale face.

In that split second, the hand was about to touch Liu Dakou.

One person is as fast as a ghost!

Ji Yan moved.

Without shouting, he quickly and naturally stood between the "monster" and Liu Dakou.

The next moment, there was a clear and strange "click!"
